At least 54 Nigerians are known to have died in Thursday’s stampede during the Hajj pilgrimage near Mecca, This was reported by Nigeria’s National Hajj Commission. It was the deadliest incident to hit the Hajj in 25 years.
At least 769 pilgrims died in the crush, more than 200 of whom are believed to be from Africa.
The crush appears to have been caused when pilgrims converged at a junction in Mina, near Mecca, in Saudi Arabia on Thursday morning.

The pilgrims were taking part in the Hajj’s last major rite – throwing stone at pillars called Jamarat, where Satan is believed to have tempted the Prophet Abraham.

The chairman of Nigeria’s National Hajj Commission Abdullahi Mukhtar confirmed the numbers but said some pilgrims were missing, meaning the final death toll could rise.
The nationality with the highest number of deaths, with at least 140 dead, is Iran.

Farmers in Ondo state have given a seven-day ultimatum to the Federal Government for the release of former Secretary to Government of the Federation (SGF) and Afenifere chieftain, Chief Olu Falae, who was abducted last Monday, in Akure, by suspected Fulani herdsmen.

The farmers, who are members of the Ondo State Agricultural Commodities Association, yesterday, summoned a meeting in Akure warning that the failure to release Mr. Falae would elicit a reaction from the farmers that would make an impact across the country.
Chairman of the Association, Akin Olotu, while addressing journalists after the meeting, urged the Federal Government to secure Mr. Falae’s release within seven days.


“What we are saying is that the abduction of Chief Falae is unacceptable to we farmers in Ondo state and Southwest,” Mr. Olotu said.
“We therefore give seven-day ultimatum to the federal government to secure the release of Chief Falae, if he is not released within the next seven days, the farmers in Ondo State will take action that will have a national impact. We should not forget the Agbekoya war in the old Oyo State.

Mr. Olotu noted that the activities of Fulani herdsmen in the state had become a serious problem and that the nomadic system of cattle rearing in Nigeria was obsolete.
He called on the government to review the system and do something about it urgently in the interest of farmers and herdsmen.

“The herdsmen are now turning to armed robbers, they rape, and kidnap, they are now seriously threatening the lives of the people of our communities in this state and if you report to the police, nothing will be done. Now they have kidnapped one of our elders. We will not take this any longer,” Mr. Olotu said.

Meanwhile, the state chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has said in a statement signed by its Director of Publicity, Ayo Fadaka, that the criminal incursion of the herdsmen into the state had become worrisome.

“This type of brigandage that is currently happening in the state must stop,” Fadaka said.
“We therefore use this opportunity to call on the law enforcement agencies to do all in their power to apprehend and bring to justice those responsible for this indecent assault on the person and status of Chief Olu Falae.

“We also want to emphasise that, tackling these type of crimes by every state can only be possible if the much needed restructuring of our federalism is prosecuted with urgency as this will give every state the constitutional power to organize and control its own security as it obtains in other notable federalisms around the world.

“The current constitution describes Governors as Chief Security Officers without any security organisation directly under their controls.”

According to him, the issue of State Police is a desire that must be met at once as many challenges hitherto unknown in our clime now bestrides it with sheer force.

“Nigeria can no longer pretend that the security tactics and format of the 19th century will effectively address the challenges of this century. We urge those holding Chief Falae to release him forthwith and also call on the security agencies to upscale their act, locate and release Chief Falae immediately,” Fadaka added.

A married woman identified as Mercy Samuel Akpa-Umoh, has reportedly died after four Chinese construction workers engaged her in a marathon sex in Awa village in Onna Local Government Area of the Akwa Ibom.

The messy sex scandal was said to have happened few days ago when the woman, a mother of five, was pimped to the Chinese who are part of a construction team currently working on a multi-billion naira country mansion for the state governor, Udom Emmanuel, who is from the village and the four men agreed to pay her the sum of N40,000 (N10,000) for each man, for her to have the group sex with them.
The woman who is said to be from a neighbouring Ikot Ishiet village but married to an Awa man, agreed to their terms and the randy Chinese men her to their apartment and after consuming a large quantity of alcohol and sex enhancing drugs, took turns on the woman but along the line, tragedy struck when she allegedly collapsed and started foaming from the mouth and before any help could come her way, she had given up the ghost.


Another angle is said to have been added to the story as the governor is said to have called the family of the deceased woman and compensated them with the sum of N20 million so that the scandal would not be blown out of proportion while the Chinese men are said to have been hurriedly ferried out of the state.
In May, 2015, an incident of death during sex occurred in Lagos when a young woman who was picked by a Lagos based taxi driver on the road for sex died during the romp.

This President ain't smiling at all... He just ordered Nigeria’s security agents to arrest his brother-in-law, Musa Yola the immediate younger brother of Aisha Buhari, for allegedly extorting money from an unnamed businessman.


The report alleges that the suspect who is also addressed as “Alhaji Yola” received N300 million from a businessman after promising to provide him with political access to secure an oil block from the Buhari administration. According to the report Buhari personally ordered Mr. Yola be brought before him in handcuffs in the company of the businessman he duped.

Buhari then allegedly told the duped businessman, “he was stupid to part with such significant cash when he should know that he, Buhari, would not participate in fraud”
So far the money has been refunded by Alhaji Yola to the duped businessman, while Yola has been released on bail.

When did you start acting?
I ventured into Nollywood in 2013.

What role did you play in the movie you’re currently working on?
I played the role of a wife, a woman who is good but is having a bad experience from her in-laws and other people. I was able to have babies for my husband but sadly they kept dying one way or the other. It was a very challenging role for me.

Have you ever played a s*xy role in a movie?
I have, I did it with Ezenwora George in a movie called ‘The Birds’. I think that was my first s*xy role in a movie, because I wasn’t expecting him to kiss me and then he just grabbed me and kissed me.Can you go nude in a movie?
I can actually do anything as long as it adds meaning to the story. When you talk about nude, there has to be a connection. You don’t just go nude because you want to pull off your clothes. How many movies have you featured in so far?
I’ve done ‘Sacrifice for Marriage’, ‘Ibu’s Wedding’ with Mr Ibu, Global Updates ’89 Days In Bondage’, Sparco which is on air and Ulo Mbasa, a soap on DSTV. So far, we’ve been working, we can’t relent on our efforts and I expect more to follow.

What has been your most challenging role in a movie?
My most challenging role was actually in a movie I did with Global Update. It was really challenging because they had to take me somewhere in Badagry and I had to jump from one hill to the other. It was challenging because I’m not an athletic person. I saw myself jumping up and down from one tree to another, running in the bush even on a wet day. It was challenging for me. My second challenging role is Ulo Mbasa, the Igbo soap on air now, where I cheated on my husband.

What more should people expect from Edwin Princess?
They should expect good works and appreciate what I’m offering, because I’ve just started to learn and I hope to give them my best in the nearest future.
