TV/Movies › Re: NTA: An Embarrassment To Nigeria by GEEBITE: 9:46am On Apr 08, 2019
Look up the name of the DG,you will know why they are at that sorry state. When Murray Bruce ran the place forget his any other shortcomings, the transformation was phenomenal but they havent build on it since he left over about 15 years ago.
HisSexcellency:
Came back this morning from church only to discover that my cable subscription has expired, so i tuned to the only available channel NTA.

I haven't watched NTA for God knows how long now, i was totally disappointed with what was showing on my tv screen, the picture quality and lighting was very poor, audio quality was awful. It was as if i was teleported by to the 1970s or something.

We are in the 21st century for God sake, what will it cost the management of NTA to overhaul the stations. I believe they get budgets annually running into billions. Privately owned and managed tv stations like Channels, Tvc, Arise, Silverbird, AIT, etc are miles ahead of a supposedly more financed NTA. And what's with the archaic dirty brown colour combination, can't the colours of the station be changed to something more appealing and brighter? Or do we need a two- third majority of the national assembly to rebrand NTA.

For over 20 years ministers come and go and no one thought it wise to rebrand the station, if it involves sacking some persons to get the station running let the needful be done. NTA is supposed to be a national brand and pride, but what we currently have today is nothing to write home about.

I couldn't spare 3 minutes to watch the station today because it was a torture to the eyes and sense of good taste.
Let the appropriate persons sit up and save the only national tv we have as at today.

Ogun state second wealthiest in Nigeria;are u smoking crack pipe. With what indices did you adjudged it,federal allocation or IGR?
MetaPhysical:
We are talking about APC and you throw PDP in, the two separate ideologies about social progress are incompatible.

Will you deny that APC enforced discipline in states where primaries held?

APC won smoothly the states that did primaries, the ones that refused had a very tough time reclaiming victory, in fact many of them lost to opposition. Another name for discipline is process or orderliness or structured. Those who love chaos, disorderliness and failure detest when the word discipline is mentioned.

Look at how Amosun ended. He snubbed his nose at party discipline. A very promising Governor, an executive of the second wealthiest state in Nigeria. Squandered his transition.
Compare with Lagos and Ambode's acceptance of party supremacy...the party and Elders of Lagos have met and reconciled with him...in fact they are sponsoring his NextLevel.

Party supremacy and orderliness in People's house is a must!

We must bring discipline to the people's house! Those who do not want an ordered society can step...

Strike Wizkid off that list, guy is barely breaking even and mostly hype too.His sold out concert got him a measly pie as he was seriously ripped off.In the mainstream american music market, his presence is minimal.Billboard is the benchmark and none of his songs have charted there. Please do not come at me with some obscure collaborations.
franchasng:
99% of all so called Nigerian celebrities are broke people just managing to survive but using social media to hype their broke images, yes I speak with authority knowing most of them in reality angry

The only few Nigerian celebrities doing well are:

1.) Wizkid (he should thank His God he went international and luckily entered American showbiz market

2.) Davido; family wealth + little international penetration

3.) Don Jazzy; his business sense saved him

4.) Psquare before their separation

5.) Flavor; his local shows, thanks to rich Igbos

6.) Genevieve Nnaji

7.) Linda Ikeji; the richest of them all

8.) E-money

9.) Tiwa Savage; thanks to Wizkid's help

Majority of others are struggling, so don't let their showoff online deceive you, focus on whatever you are doing with joy, you are better than most of them

Stop misinformation and always get your facts right. It was Philip Osondu the MVP of the under 17 world cup in 1987 you are trying to refer to here and he is from Aba not Agbor. Nigeria was not banned because of him,it was because of Samson Siasia and co 1985 U-21 set who had many of them with with age discrepancies on official documents when they joined clubs abroad(mostly Belgium then).
TempleHouse:
Have you all forgotten the Nigerian Footballer-Ochendu in 1989 ?
Ochendu represents Nigeria and played for Under 18 in 1988 FIFA WORLD CUP
He was signed by Belgium Club and was advised to wait until he was 20 to play for the First Team
Ochendu then confessed that he was actually 32 years and has two kids in Agbor in Bendel State
The Belgium Club terminated the contract and reported Nigeria to FIFA
Thus the reason Nigeria was suspended and banned in1990 Under 21 World Cup
Very sad that Nigeria have not learnt from Salisu,Ewerem, and now Okebukola episodes.

So you think one million naira loss isn't negligible to a man worth over $10b mr simple interest calculator?
sonnie10:
$10M is about #3.6B (naira)
At 10% interest rate, that would be #360M per annum.
If you divide #360M by 360 ( the one day he had the money in his room), that would be #1M.
Therefore we can comfortably say that he wasted #1M to see his own money in cash.

DTaj:
Hate him or like him, Tinubu is a very impactful leader. I listened to VP Osinbajo's opening remarks about Tinubu before his full speech.

He said that Tinubu was the first Governor to have a cabinet of technocrats from various states in Nigeria. He said Tinubu appointed people based on competence, no matter where they originated.

He listed the following persons:

Ben Akabueze (from Anambra state, a foremost banker, who was MD/CEO of NAL Bank before he was made Commissioner for Economic Planning & Budget);

Dele Alake (from Ekiti state, who was Editor of Concord, one of Nigeria's leading newspapers, before he was appointed Commissioner of Information & Strategy),

Yemi Osinbajo (from Ogun state, who was a Professor of Law and SAN, before he was appointed as Commissioner for Justice);

Rauf Aregbesola (from Osun state, who was a Fellow of Nigerian Society of Engineers, FNSE- the highest professional rank of Engineers in Nigeria- before he was appointed Commissioner of Works);

Worrey (from Delta state, a foremost architect, who was appointed Commissioner for Lands);

Opeyemi Bamidele (from Ekiti state, a young lawyer at the time and National President of NANS, before he was appointed Commissioner for Information), etc.

He may have his issues, like every popular politician does, but he has developed a lot of leaders. I read a book written about him by Kehinde Bamigbetan and I fell in love with Tinubu over and over again.

The world respects men who follow their convictions, fight, earn, and keep. The world does not talk about perpetual critics who have nothing to offer, who have developed nobody!

grandstar:
A bad workman blames his tools or 2face in this instance.

Why don't you produce a best selling album like 2face did? That really is the solution. If 2face should die now, who would you blame?

This reminds me of the Fugees. As a group, they came out with great songs.

Then they split up. Only Wyclef kept coming out with hits after hits.

As for Mama Zion and the other guy, they came out with 1 great song each, and they faded out.

Wyclef was 99% of the Fugees no wonder why he left

2face likewise and since their breakup, only he has succeeded while the other 2 have now faded out.

If you aren't a good songwriter, then buy songs from great songwriters. Don't blow all your money on women, booze and fast cars and then squander the rest ( tribute to George Best) .

It is rumoured Rihanna's songs are from songwriters for instance
That hasn't stopped her from topping the chats and from being one of the top 5 female singers in America!

Even though Ali apologized several times and even tendered an apology in one of the national newspapers. Joe Frazier who was born in 1964 died in 2011 before Muhammed Ali who was born in 1962 died in 2016. Frazier even in his old age refused to forgive Ali and went to his grave with all that bitterness and anger earlier than Muhammed Ali who is even older than he his. Stop writing thesis cos of this post. How many countries in Africa are buying your fuel.Ghana still have backlog of arrears to settle us for gas shipments to them.By the way how many cars and industries are in subsaharan Africa to sustain . our income from fossil fuel at this present level
Asour:
Ok. But You didn't answer the questions of CURRENT technical limitations and financial viability of Electrical Vehicles.

e.g. Can ANY family in ANY part of Africa(Perharps the world) today currently survive totally/exclusively on EVs yet? Can the average family afford the same?

Depending on how volatile an industry is, what constitutes your largest customers could change quite easily.
Across the world, the emergence of e-commerce was supposed to decimate the Postal services industry, Today, it appears to be its largest customers.

How many companies in the world do you reckon are up to 150 years in their original forms?

Natural a company would have to evolve oil or no oil.
Are you prescient enough to know that the alternative uses would not be abundant enough? I am not though. I am not against EVs or I am not necessarily in support of Big oil I am just saying that if 'green' alternatives present themselves as technically superior and financially viable alternatives, people would rush to them. they don't have to give oil a bad name in other to sell themselves.
Sell on the value of you not only on the demerit of another. that's more sustainable.

Over the last 12 years gas companies have sold themselves as better alternatives to firewood & kerosine to women(more like a more upwardly mobile lifestyle alternative). The penetration of cooking is growing rapidly BUT are there women who still use kero? Of course. Is it cheaper? Definitely (as at today). when gas becomes cheaper to use you don't have to tell those women to change.

Again selling on one's own merit is a more effective/sustainable strategy more often than not. Let customers/markets be the judge.
Business › Re: Latest Update from Dangote Refinery, Ibeju-Lekki, Lagos (Photos and Videos) by GEEBITE: 11:22am On Mar 19, 2019
One does not need the gift of clairvoyance to know there is no future in fossil fuel.Your biggest customers will not need it anymore so tell me the need to keep investing in its value chain. You are talking of alternative uses that cant fetch any reasonable fx to keep the country running. Well typical of africans, that future unprepared for even if it is 150 years will hit you within a twinkling of an eyes and you will be thoroughly exposed.
Asour:
Fossil oil has no future? I don't know what future means 10/20 years? I doubt it. 30/50 years? maybe.

I am not at all an expert but what's the proportion of EVs to total Cars in the world over the last 10 years? How many people currently own just EVs? how viable is the most cost effective long-range EVs over it's life cycle?

Is the Issue of range anxiety still prevalent among EVs?

In gas for instance what's the gas use penetration rate in Nigeria? How is the Huge demand for energy/power from EVs use going to be filled sustainably (greenly)?

Are there other potentially useful applications for fossil fuel derivatives not currently obvious ?

When the cost of fossil fuel drops, without government interventions/taxes, would it become more cost effective to to generate Power from fossil fuels?

Again I don't know the answer(s) to these but I have the feeling these would shape the economic viability of the 'greener' alternatives.
At the end of the day, it looks like economics is usually right.

Welldone hypeman, proud and happy to declare a former CBN deputy governor a billionaire. The sign of everything wrong with Nigeria.
maidstone:
I went for my favourite Amala and Abula session at Skylolo, Sky Bank, Bodija, Ibadan. I made my order and thereafter sat down comfortably to devour my well garnished bowl of Amala delicacy.

Midway through my meal, a man joined the table and sat down directly opposite me, he was making a call and talking about travelling to the UK next week to spend time with his children. I looked up, and looked again, lo and behold, it was Chief Bayo Adelabu.

I couldn't believe it. I shrugged. "it can't be the man" - I confidently said to myself. I decided to look again and, this time, I was pretty convinced it was him. I then decided to bell the cat. I asked him without further hesitation: are you Chief Bayo Adelabu? He promptly said yes and nodded at the same time. I was taken aback, albeit pleasantly. I told him I was surprised to see him sit down with us in a Buka like that, without any security personnel milling around. He appeared so simple, so friendly and so pro-people. I told him right there that I couldn't believe the fact that I was sitting directly opposite a former CBN Deputy Governor, a billionaire and a man who had just lost the a keenly-contested governorship contest, barely a week ago. I enjoined him to keep it up.

That, with time, people will definitely take to him and his simple lifestyle. That the people already love him. That he lost the election for reasons that are not his fault in any way. At this stage, other revellers came close, hugged him, took pictures with him and wished him well in his future ambition. I was about to leave after all this when he pulled me back and asked for my phone number. Waoh! I was like "really"? Me? We immediately exchanged numbers.
