And so myself and a n acquitance who shares a similar passion decide to register a company. I had 60% holding while he had 40. Since I work full time and can't be there to run the company, he became the founding MD while I was just a board member and a director. All the financing so far and even our flagship product was from me. However, the company documents are in his custody. We meet almost every weekend and he updates me on activities while I provide him with links and some financial support. Recently we agreed to open bank accounts and two banks came to mind. He brought the corporate account opening forms and I filled them. However, he couldn't open the accounts because his means of identification had expired. We still met. Last Sunday and on Tuesday, he calls to tell me he has opened an account with a bank which wasn't even one of the banks we had initially planned to open accounts with. He said he had to hurriedly open the account and that he is the sole signatory. Now I'm at a lossand wondering how on earth a bank would open an account for a limited liabiliy company without a board resolution or even the majority shareholder consenting to it. Now I'm beginning to review the relationship. I just need some advice on what my next steps should be |
Should Nigeria divide, and I hope not, I believe the South West will be the most stable and prosperous followed by the South South. Ibo people are mostly traders while Yoruba people have the skills. For instance, ibo people sell spare parts while the Yorubas have the mechanics, Ibos sell building materials while the Yorubas have the bricklayers. There are so may instances like that. The question now is, what is the entry barrier for trading in these days of seamless international trade. For me it is next to nothing. If all the ibo traders moved, they will create a new market for other tribes willing to take advantage of the market demands. The Yorubas are also very politically sophisticated and have the capacity to attract foreign investment based on the structures and systems they've been able to build over time. I don't want to imagine how the SouthEast will start out. With all the returnees and low development in the region, you can expect violence to be at its peak with robberies and kidnappings topping the list of crimes. I also want dont want to imagine how a people that major in trading will build the real sector of their economy. Not a tribalist, just a realist |
I've never trembled at the thought of it. As a matter of fact, the sooner it happens, the better for us |
If the Ijaws and Hausas engage in a war, there's no way the ibos won't be affected as the ibos states are all in the 'line of fire' What quite agree with Dokubo that we should convene a Sovereign National Conference but my question is, how is the current National Assembly constituted? Won't the SNC also be congregated in the same manner the NASS is and what difference would their deliberations make. I think what we need is a referendum where ordinary Nigerians would be able to determine issues that critically affect them. |
A colleague asked me that question and I was like 'what!?' He's been married for like 5 years now with two kids and his mother-in-law moved in with his family a little over a year ago. She's not educated and her English gets him worried ash time she interacts with his kids. He'd rather she speaks only Yoruba to them so at least tag can help the kids understand the language but she never does. Now this is not the most worrisome. Each time the kids misbehave, like kids always do, guess what, she begins to heap curses on them. Now that's the main crux of the matter. She's also very cantankerous and always picks an argument wi almos everyone. She never goes to church with the whole of the family, never prays, but all she does is watch Africa Magic all day. Ever since she moved in, the family have had to face myriad challenges, from issues at work, to a ghastly accident that almost killed him and then the kids falling ill plus an eviction notice in his house. He's quite comfortable and the bread winner of his home but his wife has been like 'you wanna send my mother away' He has suggested she moves to another en f her daughter's homes but each time he mentions it, his wife takes offense. How on eath can a woman and her daughter be intimidating a man in his own house? Suggestions to evict her please? |
And so my friend writes a book which we all read, loved and was published in 2001. Ten years later, we see a movie with the same title of the book and has some content that looks like what was in the book. The producer cum writer then says he never ever saw the book and wasnt even aware such a book existed and just did the story based on inspiration. What should the author do? Does the Producer have a case? Is it possible to do a movie that looks so much like a book written by an author without seeing the book? Lawyers in the house, I need some help here. |
If you had initially sent your idea via email and they acknowledged getting it, you could be on your way to earning millions. Hope you also have an acknowledged copy if you sent in a hard copy |

This event was held at the CIvic Centre yesterday. Guinness is the best place to work in Nigeria while First Bank is the second best. First Bank emerged the best indigenous company to work |
Thanks. His age isn't affecting his work. He already sent in his birth certificate but the previous employers say his cv and personal records with them show a younger age |
PING!!! |
PING!!! |
I have a friend who is dealing with an issue right now and he has asked for an advise which I'm not sure I have an answer to. He used to work in a bank and his personal data showed a particular date of birth. Although according to him, he used his original birth certificate. Now he's moved to another bank, using the same original birth certificate and when they confirmed his data from his former employer, they stated that his date of birth was some years younger in the previous employment. However, his staff account details in the former office shows the correct date of birth (on his birth cert). Now contacting hs previous employers, they said he filled a different age in his personal data form as well as cv which he submitted. His current employers have sent him a query as regards the inconsistency but his previous employers are insisting that he is younger than he really is. How do you think he should deal with e query from his current employer? |

Hi guys. Thanks to the advice I got on this forum. I got my visa to the UK in 12 days but just a question. What is the rationale for the passport page stamped with a visa. I got a UK visa and my visa was stamped on an inner page, leaving several pages blank. Same wih my son and on both passports, the pages stamped were different. Does anyone know why? |

The Minister of Power is unarguably the worst performing. |
https://www.nairaland.com/906561/there-no-credible-bank-nigeria It was the poster's first post from an account obviously created to cause damage. Shows the level of complicity of the moderators. I bet my eight year old nephew can reason better. Mscheeew!!! |
challawa: i was so much disappointed with first bank today, they lack competent staff and there service delivery is terribleYour very first post. Doesnt this show you created this ID just to disparage the bank/brand? SMH at the moderators |
AND ITS ON FRONT PAGE. WHY DOES THIS TOPIC LOOK LIKE SOME PROPAGANDA TO DISCREDIT NIGERIA'S BEST BANKING BRAND AND AFRICA'S MOST INNOVATIVE BANK BASED ON INTERNATIONAL AWARDS? |
Hi guys My brother will be getting married in Osogbo in September and I have a couple of friends that will be traveling with us from Lagos. Does any know of any very good hotels within the city? |
Its always a debate. I'm very open and I discole all my earnings to my wife. I'm not sure women are like this and I wonder why? I'm beginning to reconsider telling my spouse the details of my earnings. Can I get a witness? |
There's a debate in my office about a colleague's cousin. He's the bread winner of his home and his wife's salary is meagre. However, when there's an arguement, the wife yells at him in the presence of the kids and later tells the kids terrible things about their father. Now the guy has noticed his kids are kind of distant from him and more drawn to their mother. Any ladies in the house? Is this normal? |
Thanks bro |
Thanks Adebyte and Soft Touch. My birth certificate is still intact and will include as advised alongside my son's. Unfortunately, I don't have a tax certificate yet but my HR did a letter to that effect (separate from the letter of introduction). One last thing. I have downloaded the forms online. Should I just fill them and go straight to the VFS office or I have to book an appointment? |
Hi guys Great job you're doing here. I currently work in a bank and I earn a little over half a million Nara monthly. I'm a family man with 3 kids but I intend to travel for the first time to the UK and I plan to be there as family visitor during my holiday. I plan to stay with my first cousin (my father's elder sister's son) who is a British citizen. I plan to travel with my son who is just 6 years old and currently I have the folllowing documents: 1) Letter of introduction from my employer (though I'm just 7 months in my new office after working with another bank) 2) A letter from my HR stating that I pay my taxes under PAYE 3) My passport as well as that of my son 4) My marriage certificate 5) My printed pay slip 6) A letter of consent from my wife indicating that she is in support of the planned trip with my son I plan to get the following from my cousin shortly: 1) A letter of invitation 2) Tenancy Agreement 3) A scanned page in his British passport Since I plan to sponsor myself, I was just wondering if is necessary to include my cousin's pay slips. I would also like to know how early I should I apply for a visa if I have to travel early next month. Then the letters from my employer was issued last week. Will it still be 'current' if I have to use it in the next 2 - 3 weeks? Would I also need to include my letter of employment, confirmation and resignation plus bank statements of my previous employer? When I left my previous employer, my account was in debit as a loan I had was paid into my current account. However, I've paid down the loan since December last year. I need to know if there's any other document I've missed out. Thanks guys. You're doing such a great job |
There are only two banks in Nigeria, FIRST BANK and the rest. I used to think it was an old generation bank but to my chagrin, they have about the youngest and most brilliant people in te industry. There's a 33yr old GM who became a GM at 29. Where else does that happen? Even the MD of FBN Capital that died recently was just 45. Their technology is far superior to any other bank's technology I've interfaced with and they are very innovative. They were justified to have won THE MOST INNOVATIVE BANK IN AFRICA 2011 beating banks like Standard Bank, South Africa. They alo rarely have down times and give loans and the best rates within the shortest times. THEY ARE TRULY THE FIRST , BY FAR |
Jakumo:Thanks. This is just what I need. Will let you know when I'm back |
Thanks Jay Bee I was thinking of buying some things like African fabrics, music CDs etc to give to his family. He's over 15 years older with a family of fairly grown up kids. I know offering him £100 or any amount will look insulting. |
Demdem:Hmmm , So after paying for our ticket and definitely not staying in a hotel, 3k pounds will not be enough for 2 adults and a kid? That's all of my leave allowance and must stretch myself into my savings if I have to go higher than that I need serious comments please |
