No be you talk recently that we should be fair to everyone vis a vis comments directed at @ProphetUtuocha? Now, you can see you are not fair to me, otherwise, you would know that I contribute my quota to the economy of the nation wherever I may be because I am productive and pay taxes. In fairness to him, he didn't put "God" in his post. The words in that post isn't different from what any other person here would put out. You are taking a dig at him because of the "Prophet" in his name. Your handle is "HesInMe", who is in you? Let's be fair to everyone. Personally, I take his choice of name and his writing style as pure art and there is nothing wrong with any of those. HesInMe: Eye roll... God only speaks to you too?

This is not a problem at all. Go and call him whatever you wish to call him on the politics thread. We are focused on making money here. mikeapollo: All that is required is for those who believe Tinubu has done well to state their case. For instance, If I say he is clueless, they can say he is a master strategist. If I say he is incompetent, they can say he has performed excellently well etc. I I say he is a disaster, they can say he is a saviour etc
But if I say he is incompetent, and the only thing these people can say/do is start insulting someone's father etc. It does not make sense. It only shows they are empty and have nothing meaningful to counter what I said.
NB: I don't want to even mention ethnicity in this. They cannot cow anyone from criticizing the president. He is a public office holder. |

And you don't reckon Lagos and Abuja to be part of Nigeria? I think we should resist this urge of discrediting anything that has to do wth our country. chimex38: Well, probably true with UKs current health care crisis but its basically an admin/population Problem not poor treatment or lack of equipment or maintenance. And their destination is probably LAGOS.. That's all. A stretch would be National Hospital Abuja or some military hospitals. most na referral things. |

Investment › Re: Nigerian Stock Exchange Market Pick Alerts by GeeKudi: 9:50am On Jan 31, 2025 |
Thank you for shedding more light on this. In another topic, we should be expecting a cooperate action from OANDO soon ba? ositadima1: Why Did Oando Report a Tax Credit? Upstream Tax Incentives:
1. Nigeria’s Petroleum Industry Act (PIA) grants tax holidays, investment allowances, and deductions for oil exploration and production (E&P) activities.
2. Oando’s E&P segment likely triggered tax credits due to capital allowances or reinvestment in upstream assets (e.g., NAOC acquisition).
Deferred Tax Assets (DTAs):
1. Past losses or temporary differences (e.g., impairments, depreciation) can create DTAs, which offset taxable income.
2. If Oando utilized DTAs from prior years, it would reduce current tax liability.
Is the Tax Credit Sustainable? Yes, if:
1. Oando continues qualifying for upstream tax breaks (e.g., PIA incentives for new exploration).
2. It maintains deferred tax assets (e.g., through ongoing capital expenditures or losses).
No, if:
1. Tax authorities revise policies or restrict incentives.
2. DTAs are exhausted, or profitability improves significantly (increasing taxable income).

Maybe the description should have been better worded. You don't name an item an expense and then enter it as a credit. On the whole, I think the result is a major improvement from previous years and a clear indication of the direction the company is headed going forward. They just need to quickly double efforts on the planned capital restructuring and adopt more cost effective approaches to running the business. chimex38: Good Observation.. But on further checks according to the line item, it's more likely a tax-credit rather than a tax-expense, hence not bracketed and rightly added.
In the same line item, they got a tax credit from their exploration activity of ₦27.99bn and it was added. That's the source of the observation you rightly highlighted.
I could also be wrong. Cc: Youngzedd |
