If there is a good government, it will deploy whatever it takes to bring these evil guys to book. They will definitely commit an error if they start demanding for ransom that will reveal their location. Well, is our intelligence personnel up to the task? |
abbey621:Thank you for the rescue. Sometimes one fill downcast with the level of ignorance that are exhibited in many posts and contributions on issue here. Someone will sit in his/her village and will be authoritatively discussing American issue with any requisite knowledge. I appreciate your write up, I hope it will enlighten some people. I saw someone talking about Keystone pipeline, this was a project that will not have finish this year if it was not stop. It is meant to trasport crude oil and is not adding anything to US production. The oil production in US is still rising and many companies have not utilize the license to drill that government granted them. Notwithstanding, people will continue to post how it was Biden that is not allow America to produce oil . So much ignorance everywhere. |
This is a great job here. The second plot will be difficult for your audience to understand because too many data is involved at the same time. You can grey out the not so important countries and only highlight the important ones. This will depend on story you are trying to tell. With Tableau, this is very possible. (You can highlight the top 5 and the least 5 as an example). There is this temptation in data visualization to put everything out there, this will always come out clumsy and your audience will not get your message clearly. Your text analysis is cool too, but the scale is making Canada, UK and Mexico to look the same at first glance. What are your data sources for this project? If you do not mind, can you share either here or DM? Great job and you are a fast learner. |
PDP should put its house in order, otherwise they will soon join the mushroom parties that exist only on paper. |
It is well with the church in Nigeria. Pastor Akinola was the GO of Redemption ministries, one of the biggest church in Port Harcourt. Let us ask for God's mercy on the church as He is executing leadership replacement across Nigeria church. I know it is going to be on His own terms, but that He should do it with mercy for His name sake. He is a father, He will take care of His own. It shall be well. |
Former Minneapolis Police Officer Derek Chauvin was found guilty Tuesday in the killing of George Floyd. After less than 12 hours of deliberations, the jury returned its verdict against Chauvin, convicting him on all three counts: second-degree unintentional murder, third-degree murder and second-degree manslaughter. https://www.yahoo.com/news/live-chauvin-trial-jury-deliberations-verdict-george-floyd-murder-134733208.html |
It seems you are only interested in pursuing the 3rd option. What happened to 1st and 2nd ideas? On the first (this applies to all by the way), how do you secure the website? I will like you to understand that you will be getting the personal information of your customers which must not get exposed to the public. This site will also have a payment portion where debit/credit card information will be collected, all these must be taken into consideration. These things are sacrosanct to make your dream come true. |
Boye33:He wa arrested for standing up to the government 64years ago. How old was he then? Maybe in his early twenties. You don't think he is due for his rest? It is now your turn to take over and stand up to the corrupt leaders. Stop calling an octogenarian to do the fight for you. Start now, like he did at your age. |
Grandmeister:Where are you guys getting your own information from? America has only one black senator and that only black senator is a republican? Are you in the year 2020 or some other year? I asked because a single google search would have let you know that what you wrote above is a BIG LIE. There is more than one black senator, just that only one of them is a republican(Tim Scott). The present running mate of Biden, Senator Kamala Harris is a democrat, also Senator Cory Boker. If you want to really know the party that is electing black, check the House of Representatives, or check the county majors. Both for females and blacks, you must give it to the democrat. Concerning Chicago: Is that the only city run by black? Atlanta, GA is one of the great cities in the US, its mayor is a black lady. Chicago has been like that for many years, it is not the fault of Trump neither can you blame Lightfoot for it. They can only do a little unless the Whitehouse is really interested in solving the problem. They will be ready to create jobs and do a lot in cutting down gangs. It is like a street cult in Portharcourt or Mushin and Ikorodu, Lagos. You know, in America, they have free access to guns which makes it worse. |
Daum:I see that a lot of people like your comment even though, your assertion is wrong. The US takes record of everything happening in the country, unlike what we have in Nigeria where there is no tangible statistics. If the COVID 19 death is inflated as you said, why are there over 280,000 additional deaths in the US this year compared with previous years? oh, maybe people just decided this is the year they want to die of cancer or some other death? COVID 19 caused those additional deaths. You cannot just give a number of deaths, there must be a body to be recorded to confirm there is death. Just to let you know, it is not only one person that reports death. Apart from the doctor, there is also a corona person that will sign off on it. America has more states controlled by Republican, is it that the Republican states are also inflating their figures because they do not like Trump? Stop watching only one source of news so that you will be able to judge things right. Please, stop posting what you do not have knowledge about. Check the links below: The last one is from CDC https://healthfeedback.org/claimreview/mortality-in-the-u-s-was-more-than-280000-higher-during-the-first-eight-months-of-2020-than-any-of-the-previous-five-years-over-the-same-period/ https://www.statnews.com/2020/10/20/cdc-data-excess-deaths-covid-19/ https://www.cdc.gov/mmwr/volumes/69/wr/mm6942e2.htm?s_cid=mm6942e2_w |
Kobojunkie:Sir, Jesus is not against leadership among his followers. Yes, he is our teacher, but you do not automatically grow from the time you surrender to Jesus without being taught by those before you. What Jesus warned against is that church leaders should not lord over others. We will always have teachers unless you want to claim all you know about the kingdom were things Jesus taught to you by Jesus himself. Check Mat 20: 25-28, Mark 10 is a similar scripture. You must be careful not to fall into heresy, such as it is only the four gospels that are scriptural. No scripture is of private interpretations. Jesus made references to old testament books on many occasions. If we go by your submission, those were written by men and not words of Christ himself. So, the Mat 23 that you referenced is still in line with the fact that as Christians, you are not to lord it over fellow believers, rather than leaders should serve others. If you also see Mat 23:34, Jesus even promised to send prophets, wise men, and teachers. He said these people shall be persecuted by the people. Jesus instructed Peter to strengthen his brethren when he must have been strong. It was an instruction to pray and teach others. Suppose Jesus intends to be doing all the teaching by Himself. In that case, he will not have instructed Cornelius to send for Peter in Acts 10. Some people came from other continents to introduce the Gospel to our country. If those were not evangelists, pastors, and teachers of the word, what shall we call them? Sheep recruiting sheep? Even though they are sheep, but all sheep are not at the same level. May God grant us understanding and remove all unnecessary toga from us all. |
We shall see how it goes. |
The real deal is the fact that China got to choose which asset they will take over if Nigeria default. It is wrong for a sovereign country to give unilateral collateral of all her asset to secure a paltry loan. If I need a bank loan, I can say, my collateral is my house in Wuse Abuja, if I default, the bank can only take over the Abuja house and will not touch the one in Lagos or Kaduna neither will they be able to touch my car or any of my companies. Nobody tells a bank to pick whatever the bank want in case of a loan default. Let Nigeria be wise, this politicians are not our friends. Unfortunately, China will still bring the Engineers, technician even drivers for the projects. We shall overcome one day. CAVEAT: I no get house for those places mentioned o, na hypothetical analogy. ![]() |
ogbonti:Look man, I do not care who won election in Edo, I am not living in that state. Nigerian politicians are the same and the parties are not better than each other. My major point is that, the poster was wrong campaigning for a candidate on Nairaland and the moderator is even worse for pushing such to the front page. It is one thing to tell us about the campaign that Shaibu did in Edo, it is another thing to begin to give your opinion and be telling people to vote PDP. Such is allowed in the comment section like you are doing with your video. If Obaseki remains in APC maybe you will tell us to vote APC. They are all no principle politicians looking for the betterment of their pockets. If you like vote Obaseki, if you like vote Ize-Iyamu at the end of the day, it will make very little difference in the lives of Edo people. I only pity you guys running up and down in the name of a party. Until Nigerians orientation changed, no difference in what the parties can get done. |
Whosoever moderator that put this to the front page needs more training if Seun offers one for his moderators. The framing of the title and the contents should disqualify it from the front page. Frontpage worth posts should be written with the tone of neutrality. Things like "Shuaibu tested his street credibility", "Massive crowd shows up on the Edo streets in support of Shaibu" or something in that line. Besides, Nairaland's front page content should not be a campaign unless Seun got paid for it, ethics of his job demand that he notifies the readers that this is a campaign advert. Things like "...spine of failed APC", "The Sheriff and political enigma", "...the winning team (the PDP)" and such, are at best opinions and good as campaign statement rather than news or information for Nairaland readers. While "Vote Obaseki-Shaibu"; "Vote Continuity"; or "Vote PDP" should only be seen in a campaign ad or statements. Seun should probably demand that this OP send him payment for the campaign ad or remove this from the front page. NB: If Seun need training for his moderators, he can pm me . |
Independent experts clear African Development Bank chief July 27, 2020, 7:00 PM Adesina, 60, a charismatic speaker known for his elegant suits and bow ties, became the first Nigerian to helm the AfDB in 2015 . An independent panel of experts, headed by former Irish president Mary Robinson, has cleared the beleaguered leader of the African Bank of Development (AfDB) of corruption, according to a report obtained by AFP. Akinwumi Adesina, 60, a charismatic speaker known for his elegant suits and bow ties, became the first Nigerian to helm the AfDB in 2015 -- but a 15-page report earlier this year claimed that under his watch the bank had been tarred by poor governance, impunity, personal enrichment and favouritism. The panel of three experts, led by Robinson alongside Gambia's Chief Justice Hassan Jallow and the World Bank's integrity vice president Leonard McCarthy, cleared Adesina of all charges alleged by whistleblowers. Scroll to continue with contentAD Support the DNC "The Panel concurs with the Committee in its findings in respect of all the allegations against the President and finds that they were properly considered and dismissed by the Committee," Monday's report concluded. The African banking institution and Adesina -- who is the sole candidate for the bank's August's presidential elections -- has been battered by the rollercoaster of allegations after the whistleblowers' complaints were leaked to the media in April. The former Nigerian finance minister had always stated he was "innocent" of the charges. Robinson -- who led Ireland from 1990 to 1997 before serving as the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights until 2002 -- dismissed the 16 whistleblower allegations against Adesina. The panel did not investigate the charges themselves, as that was not within their mandate. The AfDB plays an important if largely behind-the-scenes role in African economies, financing projects in agriculture, health, energy, education, transport and other development sectors. https://www.yahoo.com/news/independent-experts-clear-african-development-bank-chief-020008112.html |
Great, it was a dehumanizing act. Listening to the interrogation shows the guy had an ulterior motive. |
Since this woman came on board, things has gone from bad to worse. They took away all this social services from the person that owns the idea. |
Your assertion is correct but, this generation may not witness two guys from south, or two from North as president and vp at a time. We don't choose on merit. |
Edosir:Sir, can you point to something in the news that quoted that Oshinbajo said what you just posted? |
There is nothing in that news that shows that the National Economic Council meeting was postponed because of the APC NEC meeting. It was only the writer of the news that said it and not the vice president's office. People should learn to read in-between the line. Journalists know how to manipulate their audience to follow what the journalist want them to follow. |
The idea here is to save face. An outright turn down of the probe will be a slight on the US, an independent probe will be a slight on African countries. So, a middle ground is a review which will likely come up with a result that the ethics committee report is in order. |
Osinbajo was on a live call using zoom on May 2nd. It was at the annual THE PLATFORM organized by the Covenant Nation Church. He talked about what the government is doing to prepare for post Covid-19 economic wise and some other stuffs. Let us keep insinuation away and focus on solutions to the present problems. Osinbajo is not so active lately because they are scared of his becoming too popular among Nigerians. They have to checkmate him and like a wise man that he is, he decided to keep a low profile. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Tp5GSgMPRCY |
OROSUNBOLB:Alaafin of Oyo in his most glorious powerful days never succeeded in putting Ekiti under him not to talk about the present figurehead obaship system. Aare Onakakanfo always lost his soldiers anytime he tried harnessing part of Ekiti. If Ewi is spearheading this fight, it is unfortunate. Ado Ekiti link is more to Benin than Ife. Let everyone bury the hatchet, no single Oba in Ekiti has control over another town save the attached villages that are under Baales. Pelupelu was the making of colonialism, it is never based on historical facts. The 16 kings in Pelupelu were not recognized as having bigger power than other kings and its composition extends to part of present Kwara and Ondo states. Anyone counting 16 pelupelu obas in Ekiti is just deceiving himself. By Ekiti law and government Gazette, there are 22 ist class obas and their present chairman is one of them since 1947. |
Haywhysat:Ekiti was never under Oyo empire. The attempt to extend the empire to part of Ekiti was what led to Ekiti parapo war, with Ibadan soldiers fighting against the Ekiti army led by Ogedemgbe agbogungboro and Fabunmi. In the real sense, Alaafin was not a bigger king than other kings that are direct descendants of Oduduwa. Alaafin became rich and powerful at a point and overcame some Yoruba towns where such towns were made to pay "isakole" to Oyo. At no point was he able to get the whole of Yoruba under him. I initially thought the Alaafin's letter was fake, where he was describing some obas as subordinate. The present chairman of Ekiti traditional rulers council has better claim to Oduduwa than some of the 16 obas in question. Unfortunately, the 16 Obas are the making of the colonialist and making our traditions as subjects of colonialism decision is belittling. The Alaafin ought to have come in to settle issues by talking to everyone involved instead of a letter with tone of a command to people that are not his subjects. Nobody wrote any position in stone, the first class obas in Ekiti by my understanding are 22 in numbers and they are sovereign in each of their domain. |
He said his name is Peter David. That is uncommon name for a Yoruba person. If you listen very well towards the end, he was not speaking Yoruba language like original speakers. Let everyone stop this nonsense name calling and focus on the act. I don't have proof that he is not a Yoruba person, but what I stated above is what I observed. |
Chris1987:Oga Chris, what I wrote are facts that you can do a little research on to confirm. What is manifesting among the blacks that you are referencing is call conditioning. They were raised to look down upon themselves. Their grandparent and some of their parent could not even votes in elections until the 60s. They were conditioned to see themselves as inferior. When there is a 100m race, and you place the white at the 50m mark because the parent had run part of the race, it will be wrong to look at the black that got to 40m mark while you are at 85m and says he is not trying. The blacks do not have precedence to follow. For example, Nigeria Military is not able to design drone toys to fly around, you are saying why are they not designing a weaponized drone that could be controlled remotely from Lagos Ikeja cantonment barrack to bomb terrorists at Sambisa forest? The Africa Americans did not have opportune precedence. A Nigerian go to America like yourself, you know all your cousins back in Lagos all had a master's degree, why won't you go to College in America that you are? Your Dad had two houses in Lagos and another one in the village, your brain will tell you you need to work harder, probably two jobs if necessary so that you can achieve something in life, and by the way, your distance uncle probably is building a house and tell his Chris1987 nephew in America to send money for the roofing. These are factors that the average Africa American doesn't have that is killing their ambition. If none of your Dad and neighbors while growing up does have primary six leaving certificate, you will be feeling on top of the world when you finish secondary school. Please, understand them and the problems they are having. If you are friendly to any of them in the US where you are, encourage them and instruct them to encourage their fellow blacks to strive harder. You see their university degree holder men that are getting married to white ladies still come down to the same conditioning problem. They needed to marry a white lady so that they can assure themselves that are now better off than their fellow blacks. Those white wives are what they call trophy wives. The guy dad told him, he used to sit at the back of the bus and will have to stand up for a white girl or man in the 60s, so the son married a white lady feeling high that, he is now better than his dad. You know the vices like thuggery, drug peddling, etc. that are common among them is a result of lack of father figure in their community. They are mostly raised by their mothers alone. The reason is still that, they do not have an antecedent of father-son relationships. From the slavery time, the fathers are separated from their children. No one to teach their coming generations the roles of fathers in the family. If you study them the way I tried to do a little, you that are privileged to live among them will not blame them so much, but will rather support them in any little way to make them break loose from what is holding them down. Of course, they are bound to be jealous of Nigerians there when they see you making progress where they cannot dare. It is all because you have a different background which shaped you differently from them. My brother, it is a big problem that is difficult to change. Our Nigeria society systemic corruption pales to the Africa American problem in the US. |
Chris1987:Black slavery history is not similar to any other one. A lot of us are saying "why can't they move on?" They are not able to move on because they are still being treated partly as slaves. How do you move on from what you are still experiencing? How do you move on when you apply for a job and a white you are better than is employed in your place? How do you move on when you apply for a mortgage and is not granted but it is given to your white counterpart earning less than you are? How do you move on when you have to be teaching your teenage sons to always say yes sir even when their right is being trampled on by police so that they will not get shot? Of all the people listed, no one is still being treated badly today because they were once slaves except the blacks. Are the Italian treating the British or other Europeans as second class citizens today? Do the Japanese treat the Chinese as less than a human being? It is only the blacks that are still being treated as if slavery is still on. When some blacks business started thriving in what was called "the Black Wall Street" in Oklahoma, US, the white started a riot because they are angry that the blacks are making progress, they American Airforce have to bomb the city down and send the blacks that are lucky not to die into lifetime poverty. The thing is, systemic racism is on and reigning in the great country of the US of America and the blacks remain on the short end of the rope. I agree that despite all, the blacks need to strive to get better, they need to aspire more. They need to come out of downtowns and struggle to break the curse of poverty, which is the root of a lot of vices in their midst. They have mostly accepted that they cannot succeed or will not be allowed to succeed and therefore stopped trying. In addition, the continent of Africa especially Nigeria need to grow up and become a place the African home and in the diaspora can point to and be proud of. Because, Nigeria is not doing well, it is supporting the wrong narrative that Black man is of less intelligence than other people. We can start by not allowing the worst of us to be ruling us. Do not vote for idiots, otherwise, everyone will think we are all idiots. (well, since they always rig elections, let us work assiduously to ensure the idiots are not allow to succeed in rigging themselves in). NIGERIA MUST RISE and be a flag of pride for the black race. |
AreaFada2:Yours and lamgrees are most reasonable responses so far. The judgement did not prove that the documents didn't belong to him. According to page 16 of the posted judgement, the JSCs only reasoned that since the candidate was changing name incessantly, he must be fraudulent. To me, this is an opinion that was not proven. I am not a lawyer, but if there is no law that stipulates the number of times you can change your names, no crime has been committed. He can only be said to have committed a crime if any of those documents don't belong to him or if any was fraudulently obtained, the fact that was not proven. That a fraud was committed should not be based on opinion but fact. I also felt strongly that the court should not take away the right of the people to choose their leaders based on error of someone. Though, the Imo judgment was deemed faulty, but the judgement says, Hope scored the highest number of votes. Our electoral act needs urgent and serious revisit to address these issues. The Zamfara governor score less than 25% of votes casted, but he is the governor today. Those judgments are against and punish the people of the land and not just the candidates. |
Miracle112:That is not a leg now. That is Buhari's inner part of elbow and the hand rest of the chair he sat on protruding. These form a shoe like shape. |
I have a question here: what was the pronouncement of the supreme court? Was it that the votes for APC were voided votes or valid votes but for non existing candidates? If the later is correct, then PDP may not have course to rejoice yet. The governorship candidate of PDP does not have the constitutional requirement of 2/3 in 1/3 of the state. However, if the supreme court claims that those APC votes do not exist, then no cause for alarm. |
