Crime › Re: Kidnappers Of GUO Bus Passenger Demand ₦50M Ransom by GeneralOuki: 1:57pm On Apr 22 |
geoworldedu: If terrorism is the only problem of Nigeria, I would have agreed with you. But the problem of the country is mentality. If we had allowed the white to mix with us a century more before independence, our mentality would have been to develop wherever we are over corruption. But now it is too late. The irony is that it is this very Whites who introduced corruption into our systems and taught us how to manipulate elections. It is not because they left early that we're still struggling as a third world country, it is because adopted their wuru-wuru nature, perfected it and surpassed them at it. India got their independence more than a decade before Nigeria but go and see how they're making strides. They didn't adopt the white man's ways, they abhorred it and instead stuck to their own ways and they're better for it. |

geoworldedu: We are in for serious gbege. We made big mistake asking for independence in 1960 when we should be asking for it in 2090. No . The big mistake we made was not demanding for independence I'm 1960, it was not cutting off the North or everyone going their separate ways. |

Politics › Re: The Brutal Final Hours Of General Aguiyi-ironsi: Beaten, Dragged & Executed by GeneralOuki: 12:12pm On Apr 18 |
T9ksy: [iIronsi did promote three northerm officers but it was an afterthought.
Initially, Ironsi had promoted a whopping 18 igbo officers ONLY! He only promoted these northerners to mask his inherent bigotry. It's akin to how Ademoyega was the last officer recruited by the igbo coupists to whitewash the nefarous plot and give it nationalistic/revolutionay outlook.
Moreover, the 3 northern officers were promoted over and above their yoruba peers. Ironsi couldn't find any yoruba officer worthy of promotion but he found 18 igbos! [/i] This is nonsense, historians suggest that ironsi was trying to balance the factions within the military with those promotions, it has nothing to do with bigotry. And indeed the coup had a nationalistic aim as it ultimately planned to free and enthrone Awolowo who was a Yoruba man. Furthermore, the plotters were not just igbo men and one Yoruba, that's distortion of history. The coup plotters involved people like: Captain Ganiyu Adeleke (Yoruba) Captain Gibson Jalo (Bali/Chamba) Captain S. Swanton (Middle Belt) Lieutenant Fola Oyewole (Yoruba) Lieutenant John Atom Kpera (Tiv) Lieutenant O. Olafemiyan (Yoruba) Lieutenant Hope Harris Eghagha (Urhobo) Second Lieutenant Saleh Dambo (Hausa) Lieutenant Dag Warribor (Ijaw) Lieutenant R. Egbiko (Esean) Lieutenant Tijani Katsina (Hausa/Fulani) . Do tell me what's tribalist about this names |

simpleseyi: The reward of Decree 34 of 1966 It had nothing to do with decree 34, it was all about taking revenge against a wrongly perceived "igbo coup" . The officer, TY Danjuma ( whose people are currently getting massacred by the very same people he fought for) was specifically questioning ironsi about his involvement in the 1966 coup and why the coup plotters were yet to face justice. |

Politics › Re: Dismissed Soldier Soja Boi Backs Pay Claims With Receipts, Dares Army To Release by GeneralOuki: 3:19pm On Apr 10 |
SmartPolician: When we say we need smart people in government to create wealth for this country, people don't understand it. If you consider the number of workers the FG has to pay every month, you realize why those workers earn peanuts. Even if you add the money stolen in this country, Nigeria is still a poor country, given her population size.
Nigeria needs creative minds that will help her maximise her potential and earn more revenue, the message that Peter Obi is propagating. If not, soldiers will keep earning peanuts or the country will have to start borrowing to pay them decent salaries and allowances. Poor country meanwhile their lawmakers are among the highest paid in the world by GDP. |
