This is why I adore and respect my late parents. The way they treated our housemaids ( boy and girl) was so different from how other people that I know treated theirs.
These housemaids were older than we were and they sent us on errands and if we refuse to go, they will beat us, and If we go to report to our mother, she increase the beating if she judges that we were at fault. My parents (my mother especially) took these two people like their own and was so invested in their education. My mum made sure that they all went to school, she sponsored the guy from his secondary school to his university and helped him get a job, the lady was not so into schooling so my mom sponsored her business and rented a shop for her to start up while still living with us. They follow us to vacations, when it's Christmas time mumsy will buy Christmas stuffs for everyone, both for us and for them. And these people treated me and my siblings like their younger ones, as in.. no body dey touch us for street because of them.

Even now that our parents are late, and these two people have all started their own families, they still come to visit us at home and spend a week with us. They're literally part of the family now.
They don't call my parents Sir or Ma, they call them Mom and Dad just we do and we were not related in anyway.

Growing up with this experience and reading and seeing how other people treat their maids really really disgusts me. If you treat people like your own child(ren) they will love and treat you like their own parents, that's what a lot of people don't understand.

I don't agree that tithing is a Christian practice. As long as I'm concerned and as far as my understanding of both the old and new testament goes, tithing is a Jewish practice which was meant for the Jews ONLY because it is directly tied with the old covenant that God had with the Hebrews/Israelites/children of Abraham (it was not meant for the gentiles,— you and I are gentiles)and which is superceded by the new covenant with Christ. And the way that pastors preach about tithing in our churches is not how it was commanded in old testament. For instance, the tithe in the bible was meant to be consumed by the tither, as in that 10 percent was supposed to be eaten in the presence of God by the tither . Then once every year all the tithes should be gathered in the temple so that the widows, orphans can have something to eat, and also the Levi's who are dedicated to the temple and don't own any lands could have something to eat. But today we have no Levite on our midst and Yet these pastors demand for it, they even gaslight you and guilt trip you from keeping to the law of tithing which is to eat the tithe in the presence of God.

Besides, tithing itself is just a small part of the laws and commandments that were given to the Hebrews, and they were told that failing to do one while doing the rest or just doing one and leaving the rest are all wrong. You either keep the laws in totality or you don't.
However, if you're keeping the old laws which tithing is among them, that means you are a Jewish practitioner and not a Christian, so that means you don't recognise the Jesus was the Messiah/Christ.

what is this one talking about? Even low income earners are going to be paying more tax than they do now. Taxes are going to now be on commodities that low income earners weren't paying tax for, e.g Petrol, whereas the other communities that are currently taxed will still be taxed.
It will hit even harder on middle to high income earners.

For one thing I think this tax reform is going to spark something inside Nigerians. Hitting our monies directly in form of tax without any tangible improvement in the lives of the people is going to awaken us more than ever before in such a way that tribes, religion or political leaning is going to take a huge back seat and for the first time we might actually collective begin to hold government accountable. And if the government decides to show their usual hand of suppression then there's going to be an uprising because Nigerians are really suffering and struggling to make ends meet.
