please i am just pissed off, and i need genuine advice from all especially lawyers. I started working with my former employer 14th April 2016 as an Audit officer and resigned 30th June 2017. All through my stay there, i did my best but had to leave because i got a better offer. now they are threatening to take a legal action against me should i fail to refund them a month salary for not giving them a month notice.

NOTE: while i planned to resign, my compliance manager resigned after a month notice and they offered to transfer me to there head office and double my salary but i had to go because i had already collected my employment letter from my new employer.

now what do i do, do i refund or not?

Don't pay any attention to this "standard practice" fellas. Your Appointment letter is your contract. If it's stated anywhere that you need to give the company a one month notice then you have to refund the money. Except from that, if they sue you, you have a strong advantage. But first consider the whole legal process, if the so called amount outweighs the legal expenses then go to court, But if its slightly on par then save yourself the stress and give them their money. Pay them and have it signed preferably via bank, your biggest mistake would be to do that in cash with a verbal agreement.

Super Eagles first choice Goalkeeper and current Wolverhampton Wanderers shot stopper Carl Ikeme has been diagnosed with acute leukaemia. A statement on the clubs website reads:

It is with great sadness that Wolves can today reveal that Carl Ikeme has been diagnosed with acute leukaemia.

The 31-year-old Nigerian international goalkeeper returned some abnormal blood tests during his pre-season testing, and further medical investigation has revealed he is suffering from leukaemia.

Carl will now start an immediate course of chemotherapy as he begins a lengthy battle against the disease.

“It would be an understatement to say that everyone at Wolves has been shocked and saddened to hear the news of Carl’s diagnosis,” said Wolves' Managing Director Laurie Dalrymple.

“That relates to both players and staff as Carl has been at the club for a very long time and remains such an integral personality within the group.

“At the same time, we all know what a fighter and a competitor Carl is, and I have no doubt that he will take all of those attributes into this battle.

“Similarly, its goes without saying that Carl and his family will receive the full love and support that we at Wolves can provide – we are all with him every single step of the way towards a full recovery.

“There are going to be some very tough times ahead, but he will receive the best possible care, aided and supported by our own club doctor and medical team, as he embarks on the lengthy process of treatment.

“We are speaking to Carl regularly, and sending him our very best wishes as he comes to terms with this news and starts his recovery.”

Carl and his family would request that their privacy be respected at this time, and any updates on his progress will be provided through the club.

Ikeme was born in Sutton Coldfield, West Midlands and was eligible to represent England or Nigeria at international level. He chose Nigeria, and was first called up to the

Chelsea have cancelled this weekend’s planned victory parade, designed to celebrate their Premier League title success, after taking security advice in the wake of Monday’s terror attack in Manchester.

The champions, who will wear black armbands when confronting Arsenal in Saturday’s FA Cup final at Wembley, had intended to conduct an open top bus parade of south-west London on Sunday. But, with the government having raised the terror threat level to “critical” after the attack at the Manchester Arena, they engaged in lengthy consultations with the Metropolitan Police, local councils and other authorities, and have since opted to cancel the event.

“Everyone associated with Chelsea Football Club offers our heartfelt condolences to those affected by Monday’s terror attack in Manchester,” said a spokesman. “Our thoughts go out to all the victims, and their families and friends. In light of these tragic events, we feel it is inappropriate to go ahead with the victory parade in London on Sunday.

“Given the heightened security threat announced by the government, and recognising that this is a developing situation, we have given this careful consideration. We strongly believe, in the interests of everyone, this is the correct course of action. We are sure our fans will understand this decision.

“Having consulted with the Metropolitan Police, Hammersmith & Fulham Council and other authorities, we know the emergency services would have been as professional as ever, but we would not want in any way to divert important resources by holding an additional, non-ticketed event on the streets of London.

“Furthermore, as a mark of respect, our players will wear black armbands at the FA Cup Final against Arsenal on Saturday. Chelsea Football Club will also make a donation to a fund supporting the victims of this horrific attack.”

The club’s player of the year event, a ticketed event scheduled for Sunday evening, will still take place as it is confined to a single area of Stamford Bridge.

Arsenal have cancelled plans to screen the final at the Emirates Stadium and will not hold a victory parade.

The club said the raised security threat meant they had reluctantly decided to cancel the screening and said of a parade: “We did not want to place any additional pressure on police and security services at this time and have been working closely with them ahead of making this decision.”
