By Babatunde Raimi It was a stressful day, I did not even bother to see my usual evening news as I just went to bed, weighed down by the day’s activities. In the deadness if the night, when the sun had gone to bed, casting it’s shadows on the moon to lighten the earth, flanked by her able lieutenants, which are the stars, I went into something that looked like “A Tour In A Trance" ”. Spotting a simple shirt and trouser, with a shoe to match, I suddenly saw myself at the Cairo (Egypt) Airport with a full travel health insurance plan. I had just won an all-expense paid lottery to see the seven (7) wonders of the world as a member of the Association Of African American Museums. On arrival, I was checked into a 3 Star hotel, so as to relax and overcome jet-lag. The next day, myself and other winners across the world were ushered into an open roof bus driven around to see the beauty and splendour rooted in the unmatchable Egyptian real estate designs. Our destination: THE GREAT PYRAMID OF GIZA. On getting there ... Tribute To My Nation – Happy 55th Independence From the evil days of the Nigerian civil war that claimed thousands of lives, to the traumatic regime of the military dictatorship, and now to our nascent democracy, we have weathered the storm. Let “They” who have a perfect economy cast the first stone, none will cast the stone. Every good success have track records. Any success that does not have a track record is a travesty; sustainability might be a major issue. The time has come when the right finger is been pointed at Nigeria, championing eradication of high level corruption, which has been the major factor behind our economic, political and social growth as a people and Continent. Now, the “Right” finger is been pointed at Nigeria as the Chariot that determines where Africa’s economic pendulum will swim. Nigerians, you can’t just hate them! Unfavorable policies and harsh conditions have made our countrymen sought supposed “Greener Pastures” abroad, thereby causing brain-drain. Some have embarked on a journey of no return in their quest to better their current economic and social status, perishing in deadly seas with harsh weather conditions. Some have become victims of unfortunate circumstances; their families will never know what became of them. Does it mean God is a partial God? “No”, HE blesses whom he chooses to bless according to HIS divine mandate. Many a people have lost their destinies in our beloveth country in the “Get Rich Quick Or Die Syndrome”, no moral fibre in them to put a “C-Caution” when the are deviating from the manual of the Creator. Imagine buying a costly electronic gadget and not look into the operational manual to preserve the destiny of the gadget, the result of ignorance can be very calamitous, “but from the beginning, it was not so”. However, some have blazed the trail, writing their names on the sands of time, with points of gold and pens of silver, representing our dear nation in various fields of human endeavor. We are grateful to our foreign partners, who sees the seeds of greatness in our great country and the citizenry, investing in our human resource, which is the greatest investment of our time. Thank you. You have given us your broad shoulders to lean on, helping us reach our MDG’s and SDG’s, we will forever be grateful. It is true that CORRUPTION has been our Commander-In-Chief of Africa’s problem, but it is also true that; with the new Sheriff in town in Nigeria, corrupt people are beginning to do the right thing. Other African countries are beginning to see that if it can work in Nigeria, it can work anywhere, they have seen the power of a free press and a growing social media e-force championed by the youth. Given the current political platform, we are in the threshold of history, we are re-writing our stories. We are investing in our military to protect “One Nigeria”, we are seeking new and genuine foreign partners to join us to pilot our ship and navigate safely and successfully to the plateau of our destiny as a nation, incompetence is slowly but surely been replaced with competency, professionalism and technocrats. Show me a country that will face all the challenges that has beclouded Nigeria in time past and even recently and not go to war! Show me a country with over 250 languages and they still maintain peace in hopelessness. The book that former President Obasanjo wrote “I SEE HOPE” is gradually living its dream. Freedom of the press and civil society have helped shaped our democracy and checked political thugery and excesses by those who have usurped our advancement masquerading as representatives of the people to swindle us of our resources. There is no more hiding place for “CORRUP-TICIANS” as “STEALING IS NOW CORRUPTION”. It is in view of these, making satisfactory progress amidst so many challenges that has earned us “The Big Brother Of Africa”, and one of the 5 most developing economies in the world (M.I.N.T.S.) with attendant challenges. Not a mean feat, not because we are the most populous black nation in the world, but that is how the Uncreated Creator designed it. Afterall, “A golden fish has no hiding place”. HE who created Nigeria as a nation knows the beginning from the end as the “All Knowing” Tell it to everybody, the hour has come to liberate Nigeria, from the hands of those who have constantly RAPED our economy. Through the vehicle of separation of powers, justice and zero-tolerance to corruption, we will get there, slowly but surely. Say goodbye to nepotism, injustice, corruption with impunity laxity and all the paraphernalia of corruption. On this special extra date that we celebrate our 55th independence anniversary, may our road be rough. Truth is, no good thing comes easy. May we see opportunities in challenges while seeing every member of this planet as one, regardless of our colour, race, continent and whatever we perceive to be an advantage over others. Finally, I prophesy that, very soon, we will be going about with our Green Passport with the pride that the Eagle displays during aerial shows, as the King of the air. I believe in Nigeria. I believe in her ability to rise above her whatever challenge. I believe in our unity and our glorious tomorrow. Long Live Good People – Great Nation! Long Live Nigeria! I recently went to Code d'Ivoire, met a Malian chick and I asked "What do do you do you know about Nigeria?" She said "Boko Haram". I immediately entered into "Sober Mode" & said to myself "NEVER AGAIN". |

Let me start by asking. Can you really cross a busy road, ignoring the Pedestrian/Foot bridge, and deciding to run across the road with all its attendant risks? Can you ever see a Dangote, Otedola's, Maduka's or their proteges rum across a busy road, ignoring the pedestrian? That is what I saw today on my way to work. I was on the popular Oshodi bridge when I saw onlookers staring downwards. Trust me, I joined them, only to discover the men of the KICK AGAINST INSDISCIPLE (K.A.I.) were apprehending those crossing without using the bridge. If you have houses in Australia, Estates in Kenya, Ranches in Dubai and Casinos in Las Vegas, would you still cross without using the pedestrian? Do you think it is poverty mentality? afterall you have nothing to loose. If an incoming vehicle hits you in while crossing in this instance and you survive it, the government might still arrest you & you will still need to pay fine for obstructing free flow of traffic or you will be charged for "CONDUCT LIKELY". Here is the picturw from the scene, this morning. Share your experience, have you ever had a near-miss situation? Let's share experiences......

Insurance in Nigeria is growing slowly but surely. The regulators are working hard to ensure public trust, while also ensuring best practices are engaged in the discharge of all insurance related activities. The penetration might be slow, but with the introduction of micro-insurance, which majorly targets low income earners, it will not be long before every one raises their head to in pride and confidence to say “I too have an insurance policy”. Friends, if you have aged parents or loved ones that depends on you and your income; you need life insurance. It is a mis-normal to compulsorily insure our vehicles, sometimes to avoid trouble with law enforcement officers, without having a beneficial life insurance policy. Remember, “the importance of a thing is in the consequences of action or in-action”...More on this, please visit/Click: http://www.insuranceplus.com.ng/index.php/2015/08/23/insurance-in-nigeria/

Recently, retired of the Federal government were forced to wait to collect their retirement and terminal benefits for the sins they committed yester-years. Obviously, these categories of retirees doctored their age at the time they were to be engaged; choosing to submit "AGE DECLARATION" in place of "BIRTH CERTIFICATE". Most of these people claim their original Birth certificate and other documents got lost or were engulfed in a "Non-existent" fire incidence. At retirement, they are supposed to submit all document and present originals for sighting, only for them to discover that the age they declared to their Pension Fund Administrator does not match with what they have on their documents with their employers.
