Chipo14: So after 6 months and 5 days my wait finally ended with a PPR.
I got the correspondence letter yesterday and wanted to rush to post it only to see people getting correspondence letters and still getting refused. So I calmed down to see the final decision.
I got the mail exactly 6:22 am and I froze. It came with mixed feelings because my school has withdraw me from the program and my tuition deposit of $2000 cad forfeited. It would have been refunded if I got refused. Congrats it will go round |

ManLikeMace: I’ve been following this tread since 2014 when I got admitted to university of Regina but couldn’t afford to apply for a visa. Fast forward a couple years and I finally applied in 2017 and got rejected. I applied as a sponsored person and I did the same again in 2020 and still got rejected even after doing everything I thought would make me get it. I submitted everything I’ve learnt from this forum and submitted an account statement with over N70m in transactions and a fixed deposit of about $55k CAD just kept aside for school for over 6 months but I still got rejected. I showed how I make my money and submitted all my invoices and CAC documents and my rejection was just silly when I got my GCMS notes. So I went for judicial review and they wanted a settlement so I agreed and I re-submitted those documents on the 4th of April 2021. It’s about 2 weeks to resumption and I haven’t heard anything. If you actually calculate the time from my application last year and the whole judicial review process it’s a year and one month already. I’m not writing this to discourage anybody but just to let you all know that this thing is a game of luck. So many people that apply and get rejected are over qualified and since it’s a game, the more you play the better your chances of winning. Also keep doing other things while you wait for them because the wait can be unnecessarily long. Lastly, remember that Gods time is best and there is a reason for everything. As much as I’d have loved to travel the first time I applied, I know God kept me here for a reason and every time I get rejected and think it’s a huge disappointment, I get blessed one way or the other. Keep trying and don’t loose hope but don’t let any decision be seen as negative to you. Remember this thing is a game of luck. Your next trial might just be your lucky one. Get all your documents right and try again if you’ve been denied, yes I know it’s hard and a long wait but in this life you should never give up. I have applied to another school in for the January start date just to prepare for any decision that isn’t an approval. I have also written my IELTS and I’m keeping some money in a foreign account just to make the application process smoother. I’m not making plans for failure, I’m just making sure I’m ready for whatever the same way I have ticket prices in my sight. Don’t give up, having a foot outside this country is worth investing time and money into. Have an amazing evening guys! *please ignore any typos, I no sabi English like that* Smile |

First response should never be to attack… Certainly the GCMs notes are to be requested to ultimately tackle refusal reasons, that is common knowledge. But my writeup above was inferred from the information provided by the moniker. Is it not advisable for all angles to be critically looked at? Do better next time You're right we have to look at it from the information he/she brought then proffer possible solution why he/she was delayed before the GCMS notes will be out. My 2cent |

Shefunmih: PPR alerts You guys will have to forgive me I am sending this late. My PPR came out on August 10th, 2021 after one year. I applied for my study permit on August 9, 2020. On Dec 19th the embassy sent a mail requesting me to write IELTS and submit before 30days, which I did. Dec 19th was the last time I heard from them up until July 22nd, 2021, where I was told to submit my medicals. The miracle that happened is this. I did my medical on August 4th which was on a Wednesday and the hospital told us it was going to be uploaded on Monday. I did not even check if it was uploaded or not all I got from the embassy the next morning was the passport request mail. I could not hold back my joy and tears. I mean I have waited this long for this. I was already done with the first year moving to the second year now.
What I did : I sent a mail to the Parliament in Lethbridge and Calgary I sent IRCC my transcripts, enrollment letters, and tuition receipts I sent emails and web forms every time. Lastly, I prayed and fasted. I can't count the number of fasting I did. I thank God it came out positively I am so sorry this is coming late.
I pray for everyone still waiting that God who turned my waiting to testimony will do yours speedily. Amen I learned a lot from you guys and I will forever be grateful for this platform. Wow your patience worth it.......It will go round |

[quote author=Lekiboboe post=104782495]MY LANDING GIST!!!!
KLM Flight at MMIA, Ikeja. Lagos to Amsterdam (almost 6hrs layover at Amsterdam Airport), Amsterdam to Toronto.
Got to the Airport 4pm, August 11th
Brought three bags (22kg Clothes, 20kg Food), Laptop bag with my laptop, clear bag having my docs. & some other Contents (chips) inside of it.
Interestingly, the first search port , they checked my first bag which was having my clothes in it, as I was trying to bring my second bag (which contained Food stuffs) , they said I shouldn't bother, was quite surprised. Because i know i might not be able to go out during quarantine, I packed a substantial amount of food stuffs and ready to eat foods such as Peanuts, Chips etc. The second bag i used to pack my foodstuffs was a Traveling bag, am assuming they thought it was Clothes that was also inside that bag. In a nutshell I wasn't directed to Nigerian Quarantine Agriculture service, I went straight to KLM post to check-in. |

Good evening everyone!
Congrats it will go round I made a promise to my Jehovah that when he approves my Canada Study Permit Application, I'll sing this song and testify of His glory.
My story is long but I'll see if I can summarize it. Please note that I've been peeping into this forum for close to 2 years now but this is my first time posting. God Almighty had used this forum to bless and comfort me. That's why I want to post my testimony for people to know that God is able to grant them PPR. Receive your testimony and comfort too. God bless everyone who has been contributing to the success of this platform, including the lady that dropped a powerful prayer one night for ppr hopefuls.
When I needed comfort, I always prayed to God and also visited nairaland forum regularly.
Now this is my story: I'm 41 years and I hold PhD. Sometime ago in 2018, I made a decision to move to Canada through the study route. I applied for diploma and was granted admission. I later applied for Study Permit in March, 2020 but was refused in May, 2020. Now, I see that God Almighty didn't want me to travel to Canada with PhD to do diploma because He has better plans for me. I was depressed and almost lost hope. But that's not who I am. Giving up is never in my DNA. So by God's grace, I drew strength from JESUS Christ and decided to re-strategize. So by God's grace, in 2020 August, I decided to ignore the fear about stress and rejections from searching for Supervisors for second PhD. Note that I already have PhD degree. So I started sending emails to professors requesting them to be my Supervisor. Just one night retrial, I woke up to see an email from a Professor who scheduled a meeting with me to assess me to know if he'll agree to be my Supervisor. To cut the story short, I was accepted, admitted into the University with full scholarship, including a Teaching Assistantship position. Oh, hallelujah!
Now, the story about my study permit application. Still bearing the anger of the rejection of last year in my mind, I reluctantly applied for study permit. I tried downloading the PDF of the application documents but without success, so I angrily edited the former forms in my computer that I filled last year and submitted to IRCC on the 18th of March, 2021. Got NSE request on the 14th of April. This put me in a good spirit, so despite all odds, I travelled to write the IELTS exam and by God's grace, I passed and sent it to IRCC on 11th of May. Submission acknowledged on the 12th of May. No information from IRCC till 17th of June when I received medical request. Medical Examination done on 7th of July. Passed on 14th of July. Correspondence Letter on 9th of August and PPR today, 10th of August.
Note that till now, my eligibility and background check aren't completed and my profile is still showing "we are processing your application".
My Jehovah is great and able. I almost developed high blood pressure, anxiety attack and depression as a result of the process but God Almighty gave me victory and approved my application. I've sent my passport to VFS today.
May Jehovah listen to your worrying hearts and visit you with good news, including PPR. |

Jeff5gold: Landing gist landing gist landing gist
So I arrived at MMA, all those serious looking bag boys carried my luggage, I think say them be better people until they told me I needed to buy yellow card 6 thousand naira that without the yellow card, I won’t be allowed to board or immigration will charge me 200 dollar, well I quickly made it clear to them that I came to the airport with no money atall not even dollar….I nor get money to waste.
Flight was by 11pm check-in started by 4PM they asked for my Enrolment letter Acceptance letter School fees receipt
The airline staff (KLM) verified the documents, Omo one fyn woman..I nor just understand just squeeze face Dey say 3 weeks to resumption…Omo I being 1 faint …after snapping those documents I mentioned earlier, I was asked to bring my covid test result…then I realize I’m good to go
If you are traveling..buy snacks or anything put for your bag….hunger almost kill me.
So when I arrived Toronto airport; officer asked me if I have been accepted by the school I’m going to, I said yes, and he said if I have proof I told him yes and should him my acceptance letter. He was observing the letter then I gave him my letter of introduction without him asking Then he ask if I have paid my fee .. I told him yes and gave him my receipt…he observe the receipt and he said …oboy your admission letter say 15k then why did you pay 3k …..I just smile and said ….we are allowed to pay per the courses you are offering and I will be offering only 3 courses that’s why I paid 3k …..he just node head So I told him I have my covid result…he asked me to bring it. Then he started asking me some questions, Omo …I think the officer was looking at my file and asking me questions from there. I realize that when he called the name of my sponsor . And asked about his job. I told him every every. So he ask if I have proof of funds….I told him my sponsor refused to give me (I forget to carry o) Then final question..what will you be doing till your school resume….I told him quarantine So he printed my study permit Nd SiN stuf …..Nd started advising me that I can work for 20 hours then holiday time, I can work for 40 hours….and I can go back to Nigeria for visiting (I just shake my head for my mind). So that’s all….then I was walking down to the next part I started hearing…hello sir, hello sir , hello sir…..I didn’t bother looking back ….I nor believe say immigration officer go Dey call me sir….I finally looked back, it was d officer and he gave me one of my print out that I forgot with him ……
So I went to claim my baggage. After that, I went to do covid test, then after that …went to one joint to wait for my shuttle to my hotel. Nice hotel nice view, Everything went smooth and I thank God for a safe trip. Wishing everyone coming this fall Safe travels.
I use style like their food sha. Wow nice.......I can't wait oooh |

Shayee35: MY LANDING GIST
I will try to be as detailed as possible.
My flight had been booked for August 1 since the second week in June, and I didn't reschedule because while booking I didn't select the option to pay for a date change. (Too much aroro is not good as I would have changed my flight date and not put myself under unnecessary pressure at the airport while checking in)
On arrival at the airport, I was asked if I had foodstuff. I said yes, so I was directed to the Agricultural produce counter where I filled a form and paid the sum of N2,000. I was then given a print out to show that I had declared the agricultural produce. Next was to find the incredibly long queue for Lufthansa travelers. I got on the queue and when it was turn my bags were weighed. I had 3 bags weighing about 20kg each. I was told I would need to pay for the extra bag, obviously. I was given the ticket to go pay, after I had been checked in. When it was my turn to be checked in, I was asked for the following:
1. Arrive CAN 2. Enrolment Letter (which I did not have) 3. Evidence of payment 4. Letter of Acceptance
I explained that since I hadn't started classes and I had reached out to my school to get the enrolment letter but was refused based on the fact the enrolment letters are only for students who had started classes already, I was advised to explain to the officials. I did so, but they were already saying that "ah, you will not board o, you need your enrolment letter o". I responded by asking them to tell the CBSA people what I told them. The guy in charge left and came back to say the border officer said I couldn't board as my flight date was not within the 4 weeks advisory. (The enrolment letter wasn't the issue)
I told to him to explain that I had booked in June and was not aware of the 4 weeks advisory (I genuinely wasn't, I don't like wahala). The border officer then replied that I should just reschedule. The Lufthansa officer then responded by saying that I had been to TICKETING, and that there were no more flights for August.
Next response: XXXXXXXXX, OK TO BOARD.
The man was gracious enough enough to show me the chats on WhatsApp. I was already afraid that I will have to carry all my luggage back home after all the stress of getting to this point of my Canadian journey, and not just the airport.
My trip was smoother from there. Good inflight food and entertainment. 6 hour layover in Frankfurt. Another 8 hours plus to Toronto. Tiring trip o!
Anyway, at the airport you queue to selfservice your landing, scan your passport, take your photo and all. Then the machine gives you a slip. Next, you get on another queue where some documents are asked of you. For me it was Arrive CAN, Vaccination card (I made sure I was fully vaccinated) and letter of acceptance. The officer was satisfied and then I got on the queue for students to get my study permit. Depending on who you meet, the questions will vary. When it was my turn, I was asked for:
1.Letter of acceptance 2. Tuition receipt
I showed him. Then he asked for evidence of my living expenses coverage and I showed him my bank statement (Print a recent one, please). He then told me to wait, that he wants to print my permits. He gave me 2, Study and Work. He also took the time to explain the conditions on the documents. When he was done he said, "Welcome to Canada" with a huge smile on his handsome face.
I sailed out like the queen I am to look for my luggage which I found after a long while. The airport is so big. Please eat in the plane or during your stopovers. You need your strength for the queues and movements.
As you can tell, I wasn't asked for my hotel reservation because I am fully vaccinated. On my way out of the airport, I was given a Covid home test kit to get a sample for pickup at my accommodation. I am exempt from quarantine.
I think that's mostly it.
Have some loose cash in case the airport officials tax you and you don't know how to say NO.
Oh yea, classes start Sep 7, so I was about 1 week ahead of the 4 weeks advisory.
Paid the extra luggage, it was pricey, so prepare. I think it's worth it, though.
Hope this helps someone. Nice landing gist...So happy for you. |

—Something weird happened, on the 23rd of July 2021, a day after my medicals, i got a call from Deputy high commision of Canada in Lagos, the lady told me she was calling to ask if i had done my medicals. I was so confused because i had never heard of anyone that was called by them.

Teenie19: Dear Nairaland family,
It has finally dropped ooooo! Glory be to God Almighty!!!!
Sister's application AOR: Feb 11 2021 Program: Practical nursing May 2021 (Sheridan college)- clearly can't go for May 2021 anymore due to delay, will go for Jan 2022 session! Upfront medical : April 28, 2021 ( we said let's do medical to see if it will speed things up, lol jokes) Medical passed: June 14, 2021 (just see how long it took them to update medical!) Eligibility started: July 23, 2021 PPR and correspondence letter: this morning July 27th @ 4:34am!
What a wait! Basically this application took 5 months and 16 days. I remember I considered withdrawing the application at some point, but you all encouraged me to hold on! During this waiting period, 3 gcms notes were ordered and the fourth one has been ordered as well. All the gcms notes received didn't have much info as eligibility was blank. Each time I got the gcms notes, I was always disappointed that eligibility was blank. Now that I think of it, I guess it's not a bad thing...
I just want to use this medium to thank everyone for their support through out this journey! This is a wonderful platform and we all draw strength and hope from one another! One thing that helped me during the long wait was seeing other people's approval postings. I was always encouraged by those success stories. I remember telling myself that my testimony was near when DD097 and demure got approved as we all applied around the same time and faced this delay..
In short, this is a wonderful platform and I hope more people get to know about the wonderful support we have here! Thanks to all the gurus and everyone that tries to assist others with their questions! If you have any questions for me , please feel free to ask here so others can learn from it ! I'm rooting for all my co- February applicants and any one with a delayed application and of course everyone on here , that you will all get a favourable response soon in Jesus name!
Cheers to more success stories ! Congrats it will go round |
