It’s just so unfortunate how people are saying the op should go get a job bla bla like he’s not taking any step toward it just maybe he hasn’t succeed with it. And to those saying he’s lazy, how are u so sure he's lazy. It won’t suprise me if some or even most people yarning dust here are jobless and lazy but forming lord behind their keypad.

To the Op pls there are reasonable comments/advices here just pick them and move on. It’s really tough out there but bliv we will surely look back and smile of what we have become. Never give up..!!!

You are spot on, the job I have now if I didn't have a master degree I wouldnt have got it, all it needed was a master degree and It came 5 years after I got the MSc. The day it came it was like a dream, meanwhile I had been working with BSc.

I would never ever discourage any one from going to school or going further lailai. Everybody's path is different.

I was speaking with a woman yesterday who's son was into photography, he initially got admission full time to FUNAB, he told his mum he wanted photography, he left the admission he did 1 year photography training, moved to pefti to do a diploma now he has his own studio set up,I think he specializes in food photography now he's doing part time in UNILAG with his business and he will almost be through. He owns a solid business and he's getting his cert.

Also for a business as fluid as POS or gas that one govt policy can change everything one would need to diversify. Look at GOkada for e. G.
Your friend has his degree he's using to receive Npower stipend even if he feels is chicken change and is discouraging others from going to school, does he know what their degree may bring them.

I knew some of my friends that set up a biz with what they cud save from nysc nd the biz ended been folded up. They were somewhat sober of the wasted fund now they pick up teaching nd other work to keep the soul moving.

The way he’s attacking people is hilarious. He’s just shouting the certificate is useless despite people referring him to the future importance of the said certificate. Truly, this country is not really helping those who has education at heart but I just don’t know why some set of individuals will want to force their opinion on others. It’s not worth it. We all can’t follow same route in life.

This same issue is what I’m frowning at with someone I know just becos his gas nd pos business were on smooth sailing then he’s attacking small kids who are trying to get their first degree that he isn’t even sure they will make use of it as if he sees thru the future just because he was unable to make use of his own. Mind u, he’s even receiving stipends from npower thru his degree. What if his degree is not there how can he become a beneficiary of the said program. Because of this, I have to move away from that circle of gathering.

Some set are fond of misleading people all in the name of baseless advice while some do it so that u can’t measure upto or more than them.

Definitely whatever certificate we acquired may or may not be useful now but sooner or later it can.

We are just humans nobody knows tomorrow, we all should follow what we feel is best for us.!!!!

This issue is just a matter of communication. He shouldn’t have discourage her off her plan rather than advice her to combine the two tasks or she employ a staff that will help her in overseeing her business till she finish her program.

My fear right now is even establishing a business considering how lucky or unlucky someone can be plus I do not even have a capital ATM but I do really wish to venture into that angle maybe sooner or later.!!!

Two discipline can be under same branch but the way they make use of their chemistry can be different though they can be incorporated. A pure and applied chemistry makes use of its chemistry dealing with laboratories and industrial tests while forensic science make use of its chemistry in crime investigation test. With my little knowledge here I think the employer(army) will go for the discipline which they feel deals directly with their core duties and responsibilities.

I took a course in my third year(just a semester) on forensic biochem wic I think I cannot stand toe to toe with those that took their 4 or 5 years in studying what crime investigation entails….

Yes you’re as twice as right but what I’m just trying to pin point is that I think enough candidates with direct forensic sci degree will apply for that position which CAN make it so tough for some other discipline who thinks they are relatively related to the course… and again mind u I never insinuate that people shouldn’t apply after all the portal is closed nd we all look forward to whatever that will happens…

Hello House ,for those that thier course of study is not advertised ,kindly browse the internet to narrow down and find the relationship of the advertised specialization against what u studied in school. Eg I expect Chemical engineers to apply under explosive engieering ,physics explosive s ience same as chemist ,industrial chem,biochem,microbiology ,biological science ,biotechnologyshould fall under forensic science.,

U are right with chemical engineers but courses like industrial Chem,chem, biochem, microbiology, biological sci nd biotech can still all fall under explosive sci/tech because visibly there’s chemical and biological explosives infact that was even the basic requirements for last year…

Forensic science is a different course entirely which all these aforementioned courses cannot be affiliate to it and secondly the course(forensic sci) is even been offered here In Nigeria at undergraduate level wic I think that’s a clear issue on that part….. I see u made references to forensic biochemistry; it’s a specialized course for post graduate study….

Whosoever that will be applying together will forensic sci will be competing directly with those who carries the degree(forensic sci) which I THINK that’s a lost cause already but u see that explosive sci/tech, there is no direct degree for it here IF only they will be picking their choice of course for it and mind u foreign university is offering it tho…

We all awaiting what will happens but this year dssc is just something else… I think they design it in such a way that nobody can help u or guess what will happen lol but mind u there will still be some set of people that will bypass all these their barbaric protocols they put up….

well I personally feel withing two weeks from form closure, shortlist for exam might be out then another two weeks may produce screening list. everything ought to be rounded up by July so training commences and POP falls December before Christmas

my personal opinion though.

I heard they want this year dssc to be 9months of training and they can be certified combatant officers that’s why it’s carrying dssc0001… A new type of dssc is been introduced…

It's not like you're paying to apply, last year my course wasn't listed and I applied, wrote the cbt exam and during the board interview, they just asked me questions about my course of study. You can apply and wait to see if you'll be shortlisted for the CBT before you start stressing yourself about signing of forms.

Oh yes the Urban planning guys basically do mapping of buildings and light geographical mapping. It seems they were removed too but Land Surveying which does almost same remains.

Ooop really since the urban and regional planning guy was advice not to apply I think they will be strict on what they are asking for because he’s even closer to a brigadier general I mean blood relation…

I think they are looking for those particular courses maybe from even foreign Universities, If they don't get it then they can settle for the Chemical engineers, biochemistry etc. In my case i boldly saw Quantity Surveying my course under engineering corps which i choose but it's been removed. Every other courses like Architecture, Civil Engineering and Building Tech are very distinct specialization but similar. Quantity Surveying actually cut across all these courses including Civil Engineering but i just had to settle for Building Tech which i feel is the closest although still very distinct.

You re right bro. I like the point that if they don’t see what they are looking for they can settle for other options which i bet they can get what they are looking for conveniently. The registration has hit over 26k as at now.

What about someone who studied urban and regional planning. I think that course is also pertaining building and stuffs… Does he have a place under the engineer corp cos I heard of a candidate that was advice never to bother himself by one oga…..

On my side, the corp wasn’t removed but the specialization was rebranded lol. When d portal freshly came up I saw my course of study nd I applied asap not until they upgraded, removed some corp nd discipline. I applied under ordinance corp nd I studied bio chemistry with an OND in sci lab tech. After the upgrade, I felt like to apply under explosive science/tech after carefully searching online the courses explosive science comprises of, which are math,physics,chemistry nd biology. My diploma nd degree even cut across all these courses now from layman language we have biological nd chemical explosives.

I have never even seen a degree in explosive science/technology here in 9ja oo but I can see foreign university offering it.

I am only thinking of the options they gave wic is
Explosive engineering nd here I am thinking chemical engineering can come in
And
Explosive science/technology where I think chemistry, industrial chemistry nd/or biochemistry can come in here….

But then I have heard from two people that spoke with two oga nd they said if actually a candidate discipline is not listed directed that there’s nothing like I’m holding a degree relatively relating to what was listed.

At this junction, I am confused either to proceed or halt….!!!

N.B: since 4 years I have been following this particular corp, chemistry, bio chemistry, chemical engineering, maths, physics nd the likes has been the basis of requirements not until they rebranded to big big names we are having now

Actually typing this with a heavy heart and so much disgust for what I've done.. wish I had handled the situation better.

My father is the best man I could ever wish for and if I had another chance to pick a dad again in my next life, I'll pick a richer version of him but my mom?? Sigh!

However growing up with them was so stressful in every way u can think of.. my dad was the meek type, soft spoken and slow to react but my mom would always complain about everything, she fights everything and everyone.. never afraid of any form of confrontation, she would complain about my hairstyle, she would check if I sagged my trousers.. she monitored me extremely and always nagged about it.. I'm this typa guy who is well cultured, I wouldn't say I got that from home training tho cos I do not drink, smoke nor womanize... And I think it's d joy of every parent to have child like me, I basically had no friends visiting me then and even up till now. I've got trust issues that's why I don't keep friends.. my mom made my youthful days hell for me, I didn't really enjoy it.. times I spent with her were miserable as she would shout everyday, quarrel even over phone conversations that you would think the person she's fighting with was right in front of her.. and some times I even pity my dad whenever she starts with him. I developed some sorta hatred for her

Lately I've been spending more time with them cos of our last born just so I could keep an eye on him and we stayed close too.. and the way she treats him makes me wonder if she was the one gave birth to him, if I was away when she was pregnant for him and delivered.. I would have argued that she was his mother. There were times that I had to pass the night there and her voice or rants would be what will wake me up very early in the morning just as it used to be when I used to be there...

I used to think that as people grow old, they become calmer but that isn't the case with my mom, she's more violent... She lost her twin sis last year March and I sincerely hoped that would change atleast but iro nio... Her other sisters aren't even speaking to her at the moment. My dad was a musician.. old age won't allow him continue doing music, coincidentally I picked up that barton.. been doing the same music(live musician) all my life but my mom has always been against it.. she was never happy whenever I carry my dad's guitar to rehearse or whenever I bring a piano home.. it was always war...

Been there since last weekend cos of the poor electricity in my area.. we have had power for about 7 days now.. Had gone for a studio session, only to return in d evening and I was greeted with shouting over a very trivial issue, I was so angry that I responded to every of her verbal insults.. and then she hit me and I reciprocated which I felt so bad about almost immediately.. she dragged me by my clothes shouting that I must kill her again, by that time.. my anger had subdued and all I had on my mind was to leave the house immediately. She threatened to arrest me.. She tore my shirt and I managed to pull away from her.. and left without picking my stuffs. All my life, I have never raised up my hands to hit a woman talkless of my mom.. I don't even beat kids when they do wrong, I hate to see tears..

I know it's a disgraceful thing to do. I've got no excuse for what I've done whatsoever. I even avoid confrontations with my own gender sef cos I know what I'm capable of. Some of us at some point had a fight with either of our parents.. I could remember an old man words citing this verse in the Bible that parents should not provoke their children and on the other hand children shouldn’t disobey their parents. When I had a fight with my father the old man applaud me for my courage in letting him know how irresponsible he is but mind u he showed a great displeasure in me fighting him by returning punches with him..

My dad has been so irresponsible that he sucked my mom so dry where she served him upto 33yrs of her time in service. That woman will obtain loan for him for farming business, bought a car for him to start a transport business and even when they were courting she funded his 5years education in the university but he ended up going for a technical education nd took five years tuition fees from her.

Luck still smile on him when he told my mom he’s interested in politics and she took him to her uncle who is a party leader and fortunately enough he served as a supervisor for health for four years nd went on to be nominated as the vice chairman in my state local government. During his service he was so promiscuous and never have regards nd take care of his wife if not my mom is also a civil servant things will have really look so bad. He’s a pompous man that when my mom uncle corrected him to allow his little sister(my mom) to be attending party meetings nd some stipends will b paid to her, he brushed it off, rather he was busy fixing his concubines in those positions.

He started getting rude to the party leaders and those people conspire against him during the next vote despite all the effort he put by selling his cars which is the only asset he could acquire, no landed properties despite all the cries his wife made and he ended up losing nd ejected out. He came back to us nd my mom was the one footing nd running the family. It’s just so painful that all the loans this woman took for him he still has the gut to use it on other woman. There are times my mom will give him money for school fees to be paid nd he will ended up lavishing it. It got so bad that the only expenses he can pointed out was my fees when I was in nursery nd I do get so mad.

During my university days, things were so hard that his authoritative and demanding mentality got me so irate that he didn’t pity his wife who’s sponsoring three children at university level and will still be fighting her wic made me got into the fight nd we ended in a scuffles. He said a lot of deteriorating words nd my mum returned it to his face but she was so down nd cried bitterly considering she’s nursing blood pressure.

She mobilized our church pastor who came nd begged and he reserved all his deteriorating words coupled with blessings and till date I am just only looking at him. When I went for nysc I sent him some amount and life has go on. Retrace your steps we all have challenging circumstances and I hope u have pass the right messages to her and she will always behave her self. My dad who’s always authoritative has been put to his position and he now know his place…

The evaluation might give more credence to your university grades with your poly grades serving as a support. But I have seen someone with 2.82 in university get 3.0+ after WES evaluation. It can boost your GP if the credit load you did is fairly balanced and if your last two years in the university is quite strong.

Oh really. my last two years in the university isn’t that strong rather my first two years was but I don’t know if that can be a factor as well… I will like to do the wes evaluation so as to know if I actually stand a chance of making the 3.0. I think I will have to be capitalizing on my poly grades lol. I did actually use the wes free gpa calculator to calculate my grade from 200-500 nd I arrive at 2.9/4.0

The major schools I have seen accept the results in the scale our universities use. I am avoiding schools that need WES evaluation which is very expensive. And from people who I have seen do the WES evaluation a 4.45 will most likely land in 3.6+/4. Which is a First class overthere.

I heard a guy @vikgreen01 asking u if a 3.5/5.0 can make 3.0/4.0 together with his poly grades of 3.5/4.0 as he transferred as direct entry student into the university… I also had similar issues I had 3.70/4.0 in poly and transferred to a university where I ended with 2.87/5.0. I am also familiar with WES evaluation and saw where they wrote that a direct entry student will have to send his poly grades together with his uni grades, I don’t actually if they will eventually plus everything together.. I have also use the free iGP calculator on the WES website to calculate my GP starting from poly to uni in 5.5years nd I was able to arrive at 3.36/4.0. Since u are familiar wit the evaluation I don’t know if u can make an input to my confusion.. thanks!!!!
