NiyiOmoIyunade:hello niyi, why not just get yourself a premium inverter and save yourself all this stress. i personally went through the whole learning curve starting with a locally made inverter, then a chinese one and then an indian....until i finally got tired of all the wahala and got a magnum inverter. since then it's been a hassle-free run for me. no worries about high idle current draw, no worries about spurious trips, no worries about main boards failing without notice...i seldom have anything to contribute when I hear of felicity and mustpower issues because they're strange to me. solar shouldn't be this hard, i think. join the best-in-class team bro, you know you can! |
Namzy:i got your pm already. please check your mailbox for my reply. cheers! |
Namzy:i have some meters of red and black 16mm cables used in my last installation. if interested you can pm me. but note however that it's not multi-strand and the insulation has been scrapped in a few places (will require you applying the usual black electrical insulation tape to make it good) |
zeestone99:correct! a jack of all trade is most often a master of none. |
hardywaltz, i think you have answered the question yourself. if the location will be unoccupied for the better part of the year, then it's better to install sealed maintenance free batteries. flooded batteries are not advisable except you plan going to top them up on a regular basis or sending someone else to do it for you. there are provisions for auto water fillers in after market purchases but that is a different kettle of fish altogether. |
bigrovar:hehehe! snake oil or crocodile oil, my battery life saver (bls) works great for me.i wouldn't run my batteries one day without them. don't know about others though ![]() |
all, here's wishing us all a very merry Christmas. peace and love to all men (and women) of goodwill. may all our wishes come true as we look forward to a prosperous new year 2019.
|
guys, looks like the xmas sales has begun in earnest ![]() please keep it coming! ![]() |
Namzy:bro, nobody here is gonna accompany you to any burial but i'm sure the likes of carolyn19, brightsolar, solardepot, etc will be happy to join agbada with you. and to all those who just come here to drop adverts, i ask you "how market these past few days?" "how does it feel like to shout at an empty hall?" |
blexxonmak:blexxonmak, it's been a while. how ur end? |
idsolar:brother, you are asking an advert spammer to provide you answers to questions? hehehe!!! you're on a long thing oh. when did you ever see this guy post anything besides coming here to drop ads? besides, are we even sure he's not an ad robot? ![]() |
earthrealm, bigrovar, you guys are very much on point. sometime ago, i spoke vehemently against these frequent ads clogging the thread. a particular marketer was chief culprit then and after much heated back and forth exchanges, he was made to back down and today he's a regular contributor to discussions while still running his adverts on the side which is a good thing if you ask me. presently i have identified about two main culprits who only come here to drop off lengthy ads and make zero contributions. it's as if here is their marketplace and they think they can just come and dump their wares on us. the only time they post is when they want to advertise. no contributions to topics, no replies to questions, nothing! we may have to apply the methods we used to bring that chief marketer to the discussion table to them also. it's high time they get to know this thread is not their dumping ground. |
anidat77:hello anidat77, message acknowledged. will be expecting action from your end as discussed. cheers! |
NiyiOmoIyunade:lolz niyi. again, seems you don't get my drift. i'm a stickler for single systems when it comes to charge controllers. unlike some folks who mix up fangpusun, epsolar, bluesky, etc in one single setup, i like to stick to a single product. so, after the comparison test it was a tough choice for me to make: do i throw out my two tristars along with the meter hub and switch over to midnite, get whiz bang and other accessories or do i mix them up and take my chances, see how they can work together? but these controllers don't have a common communications protocol...but it so happens that i'm already heavily invested in morningstar so the decision naturally tilted towards keeping the tristar ccs and selling off the midnite and that's why we're here right now. i would have done the same thing even if it were a schneider, appollo, victron or some other charge controller. |
Lolz Niyi ![]() it turned out that I'm already heavily invested in morningstar products so it was a hard decision for me to let go the midnite classic for system simplicity. despite its seemingly stellar performance during the test, no point mixing different charge controllers (in my opinion) so it has to go. |
sold! sold!! sold!!! all, midnite solar classic mppt 150 charge controller for sale. less than one month used, it's as good as new still in it's original packaging. reason for sale: used for comparison test performance with tristar mppt 60 and subsequently uninstalled and repacked with no issues. fixed price; 200k as usual this will be on first come, first serve basis. specs: •150 operating voltage •Max current out: 96 amps •ETL listed to UL1741 and CSA •Type 1 environmental rating •Terminals are rated for 75 C •Exclusive HyperVOC extends VOC limits •12-72V battery •Built in DC-GFP and Arc Fault •Detector •Solar, wind and hydro MPPT modes

MegaMKO:lolz. where did you dig this post from? must be over four years ago i posted this ![]() anyway, events have since overtaken that guy and we now have seasoned vendors on this thread that can supply whatever solar parts you need. all you need to do is flip one or two pages back and you will get their contacts. but if you still insist on the alaba guy, just pm me and i'll do justice. |
the zenith batteries are agm so strictly no equalization allowed although I do this on limited basis. |
as far as desulphators go, I've been using the bls (battery life saver) for years now and I must say I'm impressed with it's performance. regardless of the seemingly negative sentiments against desulpators on here, I wouldn't be caught out without one. I remember a couple years ago when thunder struck my system and damaged my first bls, the speed with which I rallied to replace it speaks volumes about the high premium I place on it's benefits. this and other good practices have ensured my zenith batteries have gone over six years now without needing replacement. |
yes, short answer |
hmm ![]() |
niyi, that's correct. tristar mppt-60 maxes out at 60.5amps most. so i have 3 tristar ccs linked through the meter hub. |
after rain, comes shine. for those peeps here in the south-south, it seems happy times are finally here after all the weeks of never-ending rainfall ![]()

Spy360:thanks bro |
odilibe:odilibe, glad u're here. I was sharing experience based on our past experiment on prime focus dishes. obviously we never bothered to check out what the results would have been on offset dishes so I guess u're right. |
