DO NOT DECEIVE YOURSELF WITH THE BIKO YOU PUT THERE BECAUSE YOU DON'T KNOW POLITICS ALL WHAT YOU HAVE JUST SAID IS JUST AN A LIGATION , WHERE YOU THERE? REDUCE BUDGET DO THIS DO THAT SO DID ANY PERSON IN POWER TELL YOU THAT THEY DONT PAY HOMAGE WITH GIFT? BROTHER PLEASE GO AND LEARN POLITICS AND YOU MUST UNDERSTAND THIS , POLITICS IS ALL ABOUT INTEREST, EVEN IN YOUR REPLY YOU USED SOME ABUSIVE WORDS AS A SENSIBLE MAN THAT SHOULDN'T COME BUT BASED ON YOUR LEVEL OF ADVANCEMENT I TAKE THAT. NOTE:YOUR ACCUSATION ARE BASELESS AND UNFOUNDED. |
JASON I LOVE YOUR REPLY IT SOUND DIPLOMATIC AND ANALYTICAL . BUT THE POINT IS THAT YOU CAN NOT TELL TILL THEN I WOULD LIKE YOU TO UNDERSTAND THE MAIN REASON WHY THE SOME NORTHERN ELITES ARE WORKING AGAINST GEJ , IS SIMPLY WHOM TO HAND OVER COME 2015 IF HE DECIDE NOT TO RUN, AND GEJ HAS PROMISED THE IGBOS AND HE CANNOT MAKE TWO PROMISE AT THE SAME TIME AND BROTHER SUCH ISSUE WILL HEAT UP THE POLITY IF HE PROMISE THE 2 REGION SO THE NORTH ARE ASKING HIM TO SIGN SOME DOCUMENTS TO THAT EFFECT AND HE REFUSED IF NOT THEY OUGHT HAVE THROWN THEIR WAIT BEHIND HIM . SO FOR SURE GEJ WILL WIN THEY KNOW BUT 2015 IS THE PROBLEM, |
GOING BY THE INSULT THE IGBO'S RECEIVED FROM THIS POSTER ,THAT WILL TELL YOU THAT ONLY FEW SENSIBLE MEN ARE HERE IN NAIRA LAND. WHAT HAS THIS GOT TO DO WITH THE IGBO BUSINESS MEN, O BECAUSE THE IGBOS OWNS MORE PROPERTIES IN THE CHOICE AREA OF LAGOS OR WHAT ? OR BECAUSE GEJ HAS JUST MADE THE IGBOMAN NIGERIA CHIEF OF ARMY STAFF FOR THE FIRST TIME OR IS IT BECAUSE THE IGBOS ARE ABOUT TO FLOURISH POLITICALLY,THERE VOICE ARE BEEN HEARD IN THE NORTH AND SOUTH AND IN THE EAST BEEN THEIR HOME TOWN IS UNOPPOSED . |
CAN ANYTHING COME OUT FROM NAZARETH? MY PEOPLE THINK , JONATHAN IS A LIGHT FOR SURE I KNOW IT, BUT IT WILL NOT BE EASY FOR HIM BUT WITH GOD ALL THINGS ARE POSSIBLE, SOME ILLITERATE'S POST ANYTHING THEY LIKE IN THIS FORUM MAINLY OUR YORUBA BROTHERS , I AM NOT SURPRISE THEY ARE INN AGAIN FOR THEIR BETRAYAL , THE END JUSTIFIES THE WHOLE THING. MY BROTHER IF YOU REALLY KNOW WHAT GEJ SURFERED IN THE HAND OF YARADUA OHH, I FEEL LIKE CRYING THIS GUY IS A MESSIAH THAT IS WHY HE IS FACING TOO MUCH OPPOSITION EVEN HIS OWN BROTHERS ARE BETRAYING HIM, |
IGBO'S ARE NOT IN POLITICS SO DO NOT GEORGE THEM FROM THAT ANGLE BUT THEY WILL GET THE PRESIDENCY COME 2015. THAT IS THAT YOU WATCH AND SEE. |
Bros make una forget rigging or no rigging you cannot just win if you dont rig, TINUBU t=rigged in 2003 is fact. Who killed Williams? |
Nairaland is made of anti Jonathan But the the fact remains that GEJ is the best thing that can happen to Nigeria. |
My Brother, Nigerian's are not interested in PDP but GEJ is whom they want but the point is that some people who called themselves opposition group are still the same people that lost out from PDP out off power tussle, and the opposition are short sightedness They have shifted the Nigeria politics to regional issue ,So the point here is that PDP is the only national political party Nigerians parade and i tell you come rain come shin PDP will win presidential election ,ACN IS IN THE WEST the home of OBJ and he still have some political influence regardless how bad he may be. Buhari is popular in the North west with his religious and sectional campaign. My brother the two apposition picked their running mate from the west they abandoned the vote's from the SOUTH SOUTH AND SOUTH EAST. GEJ face no single opposition from the EAST AND SOUTH, as an incumbent he have made his way to the North at least 70% and west %70 . he is winning for sure there is no gain saying he will not. |

Ciroma’s aide denies plot to poison Jonathan By Olusola Fabiyi, Abuja Monday, 14 Mar 2011 View All (7) Comment(s) Post Comment Send to friend Share A former national youth leader of the Peoples Democratic Party, who is a secretariat worker in the Northern Leaders Political Forum, Mallam Farouk Bibi Farouk, said on Sunday that there was no plan to poison President Goodluck Jonathan. Farouk, who also served as Director of Youths in the disbanded Atiku Campaign Organisation, was arrested by the State Security Service. Farouk and the Secretary of the forum, Mallam Bello Abdulkadir, were arrested on Thursday. But while Abdulkardir was released on Friday, Farouk was not. However, in a statement made available to our correspondent on Sunday, Farouk said operatives of the SSS confronted him with allegation that he was at a meeting where a plan on how to poison the President was hatched. He said the operatives asked him if there was any plan to poison the president if he wins the presidential election so as to shorten his tenure, an accusation he said he denied. According to the statement, “I vehemently denied this allegation and still insist that I have not attended any meeting in Kaduna on the said date, and I was not at Kaduna on the said date. “I also insist that I have never discussed nor participated in a meeting or ever by any chance overheard conservation where such a wicked and malicious allegation was ever discussed in my life. “I heard of such a thing for the first, that evening in the premises of the State Security Services. “I was made to write a statement to that effect the following day March 11 2011 in which I rejected this allegation and I gave details of every meeting I could recollect I have attended at Kaduna since last year and the discussion I could recollect that were made in these meeting and the persons I can remember, who attended the these meetings.” He said he was not allowed to his lawyers while under detention by the SSS, but said he was treated with the “utmost decorum and respect.” He said he is a secretariat staff of the NLPF and that he also believes in the group’s stand on zoning. He, however, said he did not habour any personal grudge against President Jonathan. |
4 arrested over plan to stone Jonathan in Zamfara | Print | E-mail Monday, 14 March 2011 FOUR members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Zamfara State have been arrested in connection with the alleged plan to stone President Goodluck Jonathan and Vice-President Namadi Sambo during their campaign visit to the state on Monday, last week. Investigations carried out by the Nigerian Tribune showed that a tailor was given a contract of sewing clothes with All Nigeria Peoples Party (ANPP) logo, to be worn by the PDP members, so as to disguise and stone the president and his deputy. It also revealed that the arrested attackers had mentioned names of some of the PDP leadership of the state, who were alledged to have masterminded the deal and claimed that huge amount of money was released to them to ensure the success of the plan. The report said the plan failed as a result of a leaked information to the State Security Service (SSS) by one of the hoodlums who complained of being underpaid. The four were apprehended by the police while inspecting the clothes at the Government House, Gusau. However, the state Commissioner of Police, Mr Fatai Adio Shittu, at a press conference held at the state command headquarters, announced the arrest of the syndicate who intended to cause unrest and rancour during the presidential visit. |

Presidential poll: Jonathan leads Buhari, Ribadu in the North From ISMAIL OMIPIDAN, Kaduna Sunday, March 13, 2011 •Jonathan Photo: Sun News Publishing More Stories on This Section He shares the same name with Colonel Abubakar Dangiwa Umar (rtd), but they are not related. While Umar, the former Kaduna State Military Administrator, hails from Kebbi State, Major Abubakar Umar (rtd) hails from Kano State. However, like Colonel Umar, he is also angry with the elitist rule in the North. Retired Major Umar, who was at various times Brigade Major in I Div, Kaduna, 2 Div, Ibadan and 3 Armoured Division, Jos, does not in any way qualify as a seer. But he seems to have foreknowledge of the current political happenings in the country. He had since 2008, before the late President Umaru Yar’Adua’s ill-health became irredeemable, predicted that it would be possible for someone from the Niger Delta region to become President. And that when it happens, it might be difficult for the Presidency to “rotate to any other area.” He had while declaring his opposition to rotational presidency said: “Don’t forget that oil is the prime factor that is keeping us together in this country today. What if the presidency goes back to the Niger Delta area? These people have been agitating for resource control…they have been agitating that the headquarters of NNPC (Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation) should be moved out of Abuja and Lagos to their area. What happens if they have full control of the resources of this country? Are we sure that the presidency would be allowed to rotate to another area in this country? ”So I feel, this (rotation of presidency) is a wasted effort and should not even arise. It is a selfish principle. Nigerians should be allowed to select their leaders, irrespective of where those leaders come from. That way, we would get the best.” Recently, about a month ago, the same man declared that the North cannot make it in 2011. He argued that “the only major opposition party is the ACN (Action Congress of Nigeria), with a strong followership in the South West. CPC (Congress for Progressive Change) is coming up, but experience has shown that Buhari’s acceptability in the North is only used to win gubernatorial elections. Governors and other political office seekers only use him to get to office. It happened in 2003 and 2007. And I tell you, it will still happen this year. “Now, the South West will want to retain their stronghold. So they may not concentrate so much energy outside the (region). ACN is not popular in the North and in the South East, so PDP (Peoples Democratic Party) has those areas. It may lose in mainly the North West, in about three states or thereabout. So give and take, PDP will still carry the day, because ANPP (All Nigeria Peoples Party) will also struggle to retain its three states.” Umar is not a member of any political party. But his views are in tandem with those of a Kaduna PDP chieftain, Engineer Namadi Musa, who even frowns on the goings-on in the PDP, asserts that, head or tail, the party would still carry the day at the presidential poll. To this end, he urged the opposition parties to prepare for 2015, insisting that if the CPC/ACN alliance had worked, PDP would have been in a serious trouble. Musa, who was Organizing Secretary of the campaign team that brought immediate past governor of Kaduna State, Vice President Namadi Sambo, to power in 2007, also disclosed that in addition to the advantage PDP had over other parties is the current confusion in the North, over which presidential candidate of northern extraction the region wants. There are three major northern candidates in the presidential race against the PDP’s President Goodluck Jonathan, who is from the South South region of the country. They include General Muhammadu Buhari (CPC), Mallam Ibrahim Shekara’u (ANPP) and Mallam Nuhu Ribadu (ACN). Among the three candidates, Musa believes Buhari towers over and above all of them, adding, however, that “even if Buhari wins in all the 19 northern states, it will not be enough to give him the presidency, because he has not gotten the spread in accordance with provisions of the Nigeria Constitution. This is where the problem lies. “I hate what the PDP is doing but I will remain in the party, not for any gains but to try to ensure the right thing is done. As I speak, the party in the state no longer invites me for meetings, because I am a reformed person now and I will not participate in any rigging this time around. “In any case, by the new voter registration exercise, our rigging capacity in the PDP has been reduced by at least 60 per cent. But in spite of all that, I cannot see how Buhari will win the presidency. Mark my words, I am not saying this because I am in support of Jonathan, no. I did not support him during the primary. But my conclusion is based on the realities on ground. So whether you agree with me or not, after the elections let us compare notes,” Musa had told a bewildered audience, most of whom from their countenance and utterances were rooting for Buhari, at the Arewa House in Kaduna penultimate Saturday. How the candidates stand Jonathan Although majority of the stakeholders in the north, are still bitter over President Jonathan’s emergence as the PDP candidate, Sunday Sun can authoritatively reveal that there is nothing much the North, as a region, could do in the April presidential poll that could alter his emergence as the next President of the country. If anything, former President Shehu Shagari’s public endorsement of Jonathan’s candidacy, last Wednesday in Sokoto, is undoubtedly another confirmation of the fact that the North may have given up on the 2011 northern presidency project. Although Jonathan may not win in Sokoto, the implication of the former President’s pronouncement cannot be lost on the political actors in the region. He had described Jonathan’s emergence as having roots in the long political alliance between the North and Niger Delta region and that the North would remain committed to the mutual relationship. Shagari, who stated this while receiving Jonathan in his house, added that long before the nation’s independence in 1960, at a time the Northern Peoples Congress (NPC), the most dominant party in the North at the time, was looking for an alliance with the southern part to strengthen the nation, it was politicians from the Niger Delta that came forward to form a coalition with the party. Of the 19 states in the North, the PDP controls 16. Out of these, except the court decides otherwise, governorship election will not hold in Sokoto, Adamawa and Kogi states. And if that is the case, the governors would lose nothing by vigorously campaigning and ensuring that Jonathan wins their states. Again, of the remaining 13 states, even though there are strong indications that the PDP might lose about two or three states, Sunday Sun can authoritatively reveal that where Jonathan does not win in any of the states, he would come second, thus satisfying the provisions of the Constitution on national spread, in at least 24 of the 36 states of the federation. In the South West too, Jonathan may also come second. And if the voting pattern at the PDP primary is anything to go by, he would sweep clean the South South and the South East votes. Ribadu The ACN candidate hails from Adamawa State. But it is unlikely he would get half of the total votes cast in the state. He might come top in Benue State but it is unlikely he would sweep any of the states in the North. But the South West, which for now is the stronghold of his party, is his for grabs. The party has no strong presence in the South South and South East. Therefore, the votes from South West alone and probably Benue would not be enough to make him Nigeria’s President. Shekara’u The ANPP candidate is the outgoing Kano State governor. The party presently controls Kano, Borno and Yobe states. However, with the growing influence of PDP in the Kano, coupled with the disenchantment of notable ANPP stakeholders in the state, including the current deputy governor over the choice of the party’s gubernatorial candidate, the party might lose the state to PDP. Except certain drastic measures are taken, Mallam as he is fondly called by admirers, might even lose the presidential election in his state. As things now stand, Buhari, in spite of the challenges the CPC is facing in Kano, would give Shekara’u a good fight in the state. This is even as the two other ANPP states of Borno and Yobe might not go Shekara’u’s way. Although ANPP, from all indications, would win the two states, notable PDP politicians from the two states are expected to assist in delivering them to Jonathan. Besides, unconfirmed reports have it that even the ANPP presidential flag bearer, who will never support Buhari, may have entered into an ‘arrangement’ with Jonathan on the April poll. Like the ACN, ANPP too has no strong presence in the South South and South East, as such cannot win the presidential election. Buhari Unlike in previous elections in 2003 and 2007, the CPC flag bearer may win Katsina, his home state, this time around, regardless of the crisis in the state chapter of the party. It is taken for granted that he would win in most of the 19 northern states. However, beyond that, he may not go further, as he is not likely to come near second in the South West, South South or the South East. Although most of Buhari’s handlers are of the view that Jonathan may not emerge winner in the first ballot, and as such are planning to join forces with the ACN in an anticipated run-off, with a view to defeating the PDP, the realities on ground indicate there might not be any run- off. The issue of run-off, Sunday Sun gathered, could only arise if the opposition parties team up before the election to support one candidate against Jonathan. And until and unless that happens, Jonathan will be on his way to be crowned as the first minority candidate to emerge Nigeria’s President. History beckons!
