PoliticsIncumbency Or Not, Cpc’ll Sweep Lagos Polls by gernded(op): 2:00am On Mar 30, 2011
Why we joined the race
Our decision to join the race for the Lagos State governorship position is not a fluke. We are here to make a difference. We are not just gunning for positions. Our intention is to make impact and our target of impact is the people, not ourselves. We are coming to serve the people and to succeed in this glorious dream, we will form a government of the people, by the people and for the people, which sums up the meaning of democracy.

We want to translate the meaning of democracy to reality. By this, I mean that we will carry all Lagosians along, despite indigenous differences, not using government as an apparatus to intimidate people we are meant to serve. We want to use government as an instrument of joy and fulfilment to all Lagos citizens. So, we will give all that government is supposed to give to the people to make them happy and feel its impact. This is our stand.

CPC’s chances
We have brilliant chances of taking over Alausa in April, despite the power of incumbency. We take cognizance of the fact that Governor Fashola is on ground, following his well acclaimed impact since he took over the reins of power in Lagos. But the bottom line is that he has not done perfectly well. It is evident that there are obvious deficiencies in his administration. I am not convinced that he has overwhelming support. A large percentage of the Lagos populace is already disillusioned about his administration, especially with the alleged claims that the developmental or infrastructure development he has articulated in Lagos so far falls far beyond expectation as they do not commensurate with the magnitude of the high profile revenue base or income of the state in addition to the federal allocations.

Worse still, there are diverse draconian and anti-people policies cutting across issues over taxation or multiple taxation on people’s hard-earned income, vandalisation of people’s property, offices, shops among others where some people were not compensated at all because of difficult conditions they can not fulfil. Worse still, many market women have been displaced and can not afford expensive shops in the cities all in the name of mega city vision which does not translate into people’s welfare or means of livelihood. There was a case in Coker area of Lagos last year when a young man committed suicide after having his shop demolished by the task force.
So, from the foregoing, we have confidence that Lagosians are already seeking a change and will surely give CPC a chance this time around to effect the change they are yearning for.

Do Igbo stand a chance in Lagos?
It is not out of place if an Igbo indigene emerges as deputy governor in Lagos State. This is because Igbo constitute about 45 per cent of Lagos population if the last census is anything to reckon with. Significantly, they rank high in contributions to the economy of the state because the business concerns owned by them is relatively proportionate to the entire business base in the state. More important too is the fact that Igbo play active roles in the political landscape of Lagos State. So, the Igbo race needs to be accommodated in the equation of a state they have joined hands to build over the years. CPC is the only party that has recognised the prominent contributions of the Igbo in the present day cosmopolitan Lagos, by nominating me as the deputy governorship candidate of the party and by the grace of God, I’m ready to work conscientiously with Abayomi Mumuni, the party’s guber candidate, to give a human face to the development of Lagos State.

Our agenda
We are coming in to make a great difference. Our priority will be to make taxpayers enjoy the value of their money. Governance is all about people, not self. Leaders must learn not to enrich their pockets at the expense of the people. People’s money must be spent wisely; not using it to make a little impact and pocketing the rest. If public funds are expended wisely, it is very possible to render total service to the people and the issue of teachers, lecturers, doctors or health workers will not arise.
It has been reported that in the wake of doctors’ strike in Lagos due to poor welfare package, some lives had been lost. Lectures’ strike has also drastically hampered academic calendar, especially in the tertiary institutions. Security still remains porous in the state as there are still pockets of armed robbery attacks. Many roads are still in deplorable states in many parts of the Lagos, especially in the outskirts where the largest number of the populace reside.

In order to change all these ugly trends, we shall come up with fundamental programmes to ensure improved welfare package not only for the health workers and teachers, but also the entire Lagos workers to improve education and the health sector, just as we will also embark on empowerment projects for the market women, the youths, the less-privileged, the unemployed among others. We shall operate according to our government of the people ideology. Our infrastructure programmes will actually begin from the grassroots, especially the remote areas where the less privileged and poor masses live to guarantee them access to the dividends of democracy.

Also important is that the law enforcement agents will be well equipped and empowered to improve on the security lapses in the state. We shall equally improve on the state’s transport system whereby fares shall be reduced accordingly and scarcity of commuter buses would become a thing of the past. Also, a proactive housing scheme shall be articulated, with the use of local materials and technology to make accommodation affordable by the poor masses, just as Lateef Jakande, an erstwhile Lagos governor did in his days.

We also hope to continue with the good legacies or projects Governor Fashola has put in motion and do away with those we feel are not in the interest of the people.
In Lagos State, we shall follow the exemplary steps of incorrupt, honest, transparent Muhammadu Buhari, the CPC presidential candidate and his running mate, Tunde Bakare to remain accountable to the people when we get to Alausa in the next political dispensation.

PoliticsRe: Buhari Cannot Win With Obj, Ibb & Co Alive. They Will Rather Dash It To Gej by gernded(m): 12:56pm On Mar 27, 2011
In politics and voting the first thing that came to the player and the electorate is his or her interest.

is IBB,OBJ,ATIKU AND TINUBU allow Buhari to win what is their personal interest and political future.

if i gernded and beaf vote for GEJ what is my interest.

when you consider all this you found out that Buhari fall short and he can never protect any interest from the workers interest, regional ,political and individual interest he lacks national acceptance because of his military nature of governance.

He can only create troubles in Nigeria other than to rebuild .

GEJ is a trust worthy fellow let him wear the cap.
