I find your post very interesting. If you are so much against non-Yorubas moving to Lagos and the wider South West enmass, why not push for the division of Nigeria? That way, you can even sponsor a bill in the National Assembly in Oduduwa nation to explicitly bar Igbos. Malays in then Malaysia did it by expelling the Chinese majority Singapore. Both nations trade together today but have full control over their borders and general immigration. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Singapore#History

I would be amongst the first to support an independent Yoruba nation. Honestly, I believe the new country would do well, especially with the breadth of its diaspora.

Most streets of the UK are safe. even at night.

Some parts of London, not so much, but it's more of an economic deprivation issue than ethnicity issue, because London crime is to minorities what Blackpool crime is to white deprived boys left behind

Western Leaders should stop playing to the gallery and address the elephant in the room. which is declining living standards everywhere
When living standards decline, all these craziness results

Even in the strictest of countries. Once the economy goes in free fall, everything goes to shyte
Western elites should admit it and let go of their arrogance: the era of Western economic dominance is coming to an end. Europe don enter gbese. Fight its biggest consumer then alienate its biggest energy supplier. Add an aging population (who would pay taxes to fund new developments and maintain the infrastructure?) and it becomes worse. To exacerbate the issue, the closest continent is the world's poorest. Unlike South East Asia to China, where would the EU find young consumers to patronise its products and services?

I predicted everything here: https://www.nairaland.com/7801886/multipolarism-versus-hegemonism-great-power

Belgium comes to mind here
But it seems that the political class is in bed with the oligarchy to screw everybody else, and the result will continue to be people yearning for far right lunatics to lead them (who clearly don't have the solutions)
That's the intriguing thing about it. People lampoon China and the CCP, but the CCP would never sacrifice economic prosperity for ordinary Chinese above an elite class of people. Chinese or better still East Asian elites are way more pragmatic than their Western counterparts. The economic livelihoods of your citizens, especially ordinary males, MUST come first before any other group of people.

Following rules is not a fun exercise, but for the sake of a functioning society, everyone needs to follow them. If the biggest breakers are Pakistanis and Nigerians, you punish them appropriately, not bending it because of their skin colour.

Yes!

Anyone who lived in Brtitain or regularly visited Britain especially London, Birmingham, Bradford in the 80s or 90s and steps foot there today can’t help but feel sorry for the locals. We have overwhelmed them….same thing with Lagos. Unchecked immigration by people with different social ethical and cultural values ultimately destroys that society. Usually the mass migration of a people to a place is because those people were incapable of managing their own societies and when they overwhelm the locals they bring that chaos to the new environment. Immigration only works when the immigrants are a controlled fraction of the society or it is a society like Dubai when you rule with an iron fist and there are restrictions on what immigrants can do and positions of authority they can attain.

Those who had never been may think they are paradises compared to where they are coming from but London is now a sheet hole and so is Lagos. Only those who lived in these places before the mass influx can recognize.

The main reason Britain still has some semblance of sanity is because it was a structured society before immigrants came in enmasse and they have not FULLY taken control of their institutions but they are gradually and they will in due course. First they start by taking over menial jobs, then professions and businesses, then politics and they will bring their ways and destroy it. Christian’s will start to fight Muslims. The minute an immigrant starts to asser that they have a right to their way of life as the detriment of your rules in your society is the day the clock starts ticking. I remmember about 2 decades ago when Muslim immigrants were assert g their rights to wear hijabs in schools and drive with Burkas. I said then Britain has entered once chance!

Recently there was a story of a Nigerian care agency that sent an unqualified nurse to look after a patient who died….sounds familiar? It would never happen back in the day but as soon as you put Nigerians in charge of these things their Nigerianess comes out. Same with the Pakistanis, the Arabs, Polish, Somalis, Ukrainians, etc.
when I was in university we all knew which Indian doctors to go to to get a fake sick note for £10 because your assignment is late. You see that’s the cultural difference between an Indian and a Brit. A British doctor will not risk his license and reputation for £10….an Indian will!

Every group of immigrants in the UK come with their own unique assault against the system. You have the legitimate Indian doctors giving fake reports for a fee, You have the Indians running mortgage scams. You have the Somalis and their electronics and phone scams, the Nigerians with their credit card and benefit frauds etc etc. An immigrant will start with low paying jobs and eventually opens a small store, with card processing facilities. Instead of being grateful the society provided him a platform to own a business, he uses the store as a side hustle to launder stolen credit cards from fellow immigrants for a 50% fee. That’s what immigrants do! An immigrant gets a job in a bank, he becomes the insider to immigrant fruadsters. Every group of immigrants has at least one scam or assault on the system they are running ….It’s our way!! In the end the system is overwhelmed.

Maybe because I have British citizenship and can go and come as I please and also have no desire to live there again, I can say these things but if you let 1) the wrong type of immigrants 2) overwhelm your society, they will eventually destroy it.

Western society is dying, just think about it, the last 2 leaders of the Conservative Party were an Indian and a Nigerian. We are talking about the Conservative Party not Labour o!!!!
cc: RodgersAkpafu

We have got an interesting comment.

I have always argued that while immigration can be good for any society, not all immigrants are good. Every functioning society has to select the immigrants it believes are good to fit in. That a country's leaders are advocating for stiffer immigration policies does not make them racist. That even immigrants who have settled in the new country advocating for restrictive immigration controls do not make them "coons".They know why they left their home countries. The last thing they want is a replica. Recently, we had an MP called for blasphemy laws to be instituted in the UK. Before the turn of this century, that would have been unthinkable. The question is: why would an immigrant seek to impose his/her cultural beliefs in the new country? In my opinion, this can only be acceptable if the immigrant's home country is as good as the new one. A German seeking to impose German cultural practices in Japan is okay by me. But not a Somalian. Let the Somalian use that cultural practice to make Somalia be like Germany before I believe such practice is good for Germany. All cultures are not equal. Some cultures are more equal than others.

To be fair though, it is Karma if you ask me. Maybe in their next life, young Brits would warn their great-grandparents from invading other people's lands. The West has to engineer a new economic system that does not involve the pension system and involves less consumerism. Also, they need to increase their birth rates. Anything outside these would see the native population gradually reduce setting off tensions in the future. Most importantly, for their sake, they should ensure Africa becomes wealthy. A wealthy Africa would reduce illegal and even legal migration. No Thai or South Korean would emigrate illegally to Japan.

The girl who made the Chancellor List was so hot during Yr 1, but at the final lap, I surpassed her with 0.001 point. It gives me joy till date to beat her on the final lap. The guy who came best (not a first class as well) did very well by giving us enough gap. No first class from my department, but the sister department had two and could have had three if the third lad was serious during the final year.

Yes, I have a predilection for first class grads. I want to know their trajectories. I used to read Punch Campus Champion. I bookmarked the page. I read the interview of Ayodele Dada and many others. In fact, then, once I see you graduated with a first class, I immediately follow you on Instagram and LinkedIn. Also, I made friends with a lot of first class grads including the three female corp members posted to my department. One is an associate professor in China. The second is a business analyst in Canada and the third is an investment banker in Lagos. I also made friends with folks who were not too serious with their books, and e sure me die say one of them go become governor or legislator as they are all politicians today. grin

Good evening great Gerra.rd59, I just saw where you mentioned East Asia on a thread now. I want to ask if Taiwan and Thailand are good countries to consider for english teaching jobs too? And is it easy to move to Europe from the east asia countries? I am just thinking about what is feasible to achieve, Thanks
Taiwan is way better than Thailand. It is not that Thailand is doing badly for itself, but there are fewer economic opportunities aside from remote work and advanced business consulting for most non-South East Asians let alone a black African. The non-South East Asian foreigners you have in Thailand are independent. They don't participate in the country's economy. The other group are foreigners employed by global firms in Thai operations. So, you have European, Japanese, Chinese, and American firms employing their nationals to man the Thai operations. How many Nigerian or notable African firm has a facility/company/major office in Thailand?

I don't think English teaching sells there. But please do your research. Just that I don't see Thailand come up in English teaching jobs. If your wife has or can have reputable teaching certifications, use this website to search for jobs: https://www.schrole.com/jobs-for-teachers/

As for Taiwan, the market is too small, and I have this feeling most of them already speak English to an appreciable level. Amongst East Asians, the Japanese have the worst English level. The Chinese (across everywhere they're based) strive to learn and speak better English. Koreans come next. The English teaching market is more lucrative in China. However, there is an explicit favouritism for white people. That is, parents prefer to have a white person to teach to their children. The blacks who are favoured are African Americans and Black South Africans. This applies across East Asia - East Asians LOVE White people. The Chinese just make theirs obvious. It is possible to get an English teaching job, but as with every economic opportunity, it is going to be extra-competitive. Maybe the Cold War between the West and China might tilt the overall perception of parents to prefer black Africans over white people. But the jury is out. The easiest to get is Japan. From there on, one can move elsewhere, including Europe or America.

Oh yes! With a residence permit in Japan and stable earnings, moving to the West isn't hard. If I want to get an American visa as it is, it would be so easy.

Get into a globally recognised firm in professional services and/or financial services. Get the experience (at least three years). Get relevant and recognised certifications such as ACCA, CAIA, CFA etc. Actuarial certifications are also helpful. Apply to be transferred to an office in the abroad. This would take time. So five years minimum. If internal transfer isn't possible, apply to MBA programs that are good but aren't too expensive. For instance, in the UK, apply to Imperial College MBA not Cambridge or London Business School unless you get enough money or the brains to win a scholarship. In the US, target MBA programs in the Texas area - many Nigerians, lots of good schools and abundant scholarships. Make sure the MBA program is STEM approved so you benefit from the three years OPT program.

Alternatively, with your globally recognised certifications, apply to jobs in the UAE and South Africa. With a UAE or South African experience, you become further eligible for roles in the Western World and East Asia.

There are Nairalanders who have done what I outlined here. Good luck!

Interesting choice of colour.

Pray tell, is that a fetish for you? I'm doing an extensive research on colours and how it affects the human mood.
White signifies cleanliness.

As for colours, I am very indifferent. Of late, I have developed a love for purple coloured cars because I have not seen such. So when I want to get a car, I would have it painted a colour that is very rare. The aim is to have something that isn't too common. It is a personal trait.
