Infotubia9ja:So why start with Gaza rather than Benue, where you almost got killed? Have you been to Gaza before? If you think those people dont deserve your prayers or sympathy, wait till the westerners start supporting ISIS or bokoharam or herdsmen with fighters jet and advance drone weapon system for air attacks and wen they use just one bomb to take down a whole community in 1mins and then you come out and start crying for help and let the other part of the world say the same shit you saying now. What about Gazans having sympathy for those in Benue and Ondo? Don't Benuians and Ondo people deserve sympathy? Why MUST it be Gazans? Are the lives of Gazans more precious than those in Plateau and Enugu? I no blame you na the lack of human feelings or sympathy you no get that's why you come here and type as you wish. You mean the same lack of feelings for fellow Nigerians like you and me? Where someone is pursuing rats from his neighbour's house when his own house is on fire? Talk about "Why do you see the speck in your neighbor's eye, but do not notice the log in your own eye? Or how can you say to your neighbor, 'Let me take the speck out of your eye' while the log is in your own eye?" Hypocrites everywhere. The one that concerns them, they don't have a say, but are experts on matters in far-flung places where the residents don't give a hoot about them. If you are concerned about Gazans, go and do your NYSC 2.0 in Gaza after all you almost got killed doing the same in Benue where you have not called out the killings there. |
Feldie:Because women can harbour sexual diseases and infections much longer than men, a simple example is gonorrhoea. Also, in cases where the man is financially stable and unmarried, they can attempt to tie you down with pregnancy. |
Ekele22:The case of Bayesla has more to do with geography, as island regions or countries witha great affinity for water have a very high level of promiscuity. As for condoms, you, as the man or even the woman in each case, should put it on. Any woman who is sexually active and allows her sexual partners to deposit their sperm into her, anything she sees, let her take it like that. Women are adults as much as men are. The coddling is too much. |
Another mumbo-jumbo post! I did a search with the keywords: - " Infotubia9ja benue" - " Infotubia9ja plateau" - " Infotubia9ja ondo" - " Infotubia9ja enugu" Not one result! So, people in Nigeria should pray for Gazans instead of their kin who have been butchered simply because they are farmers? How many Gazans have prayed for the people in Plateau, Benue and Ondo? Over 1000 people have been sacked from their communities and farms in Enugu. When would you pray for them? You are very stoopid! Idiot! |
grandstar:Well, let's see how things go in the coming weeks. I am happy you accepted it had more to do with politics than economics. And yes, I do agree that China needs to consume more beyond raw materials from other countries. However, some countries such as the Netherlands and Japan restrict semiconductor equipment and chemical sales to China, so how do they expect China to buy goods from them? They literally do not want to sell what China wants to buy, but complain that China isn't consuming. |
shoodboi2:Mumu countries full everywhere. At the end, inflation will skyrocket, investments will plummet (the US won't invest as it claims) and people will suffer economically all because the US said they should ditch China. Reminds me of the current Argentine president who removed Argentina's bid to join BRICS only to end up romancing China. Like the US, his country too is heavily indebted to China.Argentina is gone. Oversabi and initial gra gra. China is a major trading partner yet he withdrew because his white bosses in the US and Europe said so. As money dried up, nobody tell am to go see Xi. See, my instincts and hopefully it happens, tells me that push comes to shove, China will unleash all its technologies and development across sub-Saharan Africa as we're the only place yet to experience prosperity. They will do this for three reasons: - Ensure Africans become prosperous - As a fvck you sign to the West which isn't interested in Africa's prosperity notwithstanding the historical relationship. Trust me, when this happens, the West will complain with tales of "China enslaves Africans". - Create a new market as they've done in South East Asia. The issues will be us grabbing every market access to the Chinese market, learning the A - Z of every technology and not scuttling the relationship considering most of our "educated" people and elites are hooked to the West. As an instance, rather than import soybeans from Argentina, do so from Nigeria and South Africa. The same applies to beef and every other major non-mineral imports With this new development by the US for countries to either choose it or China, now is our greatest opportunity to grab every economic benefit from both parties. My bet is on the Chinese as the evidence is clear (a decade plus experiences to lean from). |
grandstar:Since we know these things, why are US corporate political elites shouting that the trade with China is unfair to the US? Why did Biden keep Trump's first trade tariffs in place and initiated newer ones aimed at scuttling the growth of China's semiconductor industry? Why is the EU-China Business Chief lamenting China's "industrial over-capacity" (see below)? Why did Biden place over 100% tariffs on Chinese EVs when they are much cheaper? See here: https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2025-04-16/china-told-by-eu-business-body-to-overhaul-its-industrial-policy This has gone beyond economics, but it is now geopolitical. The same Trump put up a banner during the '80s against the Japanese for the same "unfair trade practices". However, unlike Japan, China is not signing any Plaza Accord deal, does not have US military bases on its soil and possesses nuclear weapons. There is a consensus amongst US elites, both public and private, to scuttle the rise of China. This has been discussed extensively here with links from Western media sources. See here: https://www.nairaland.com/7801886/multipolarism-versus-hegemonism-great-power/16#134143015 Lastly, why is Trump threatening countries with access to the US market with deals that they ban Chinese investments and investors in their countries? Is this economic and supply chain as well? See here: https://www.wsj.com/politics/policy/u-s-plans-to-use-tariff-negotiations-to-isolate-china-177d1528 |
Pansophist, Do you see China changing its industrial strategy (since it's the EU that complained) and why is the West so much interested in it? It's not like they can out-do or produce the quantity of goods the Chinese manufacture. https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2025-04-16/china-told-by-eu-business-body-to-overhaul-its-industrial-policy?embedded-checkout=true |
Mccollins042:Well, they've vowed to fight till the end and Xi has visited both nations. Let's see how it goes... You see that democracy and the way you proclaim that he would be kicked out? That's the reason China don't want any so-called democracy where foreign powers will instigate crises so a particular leader will be removed. Examples are Nigeria and the Philippines. In summary, "democracy" isn't every country. |
pansophist:Don't be surprised that many countries agree to it, especially when they are bullied relentlessly. See DRC. Although, if countries could still maintain relations with Russia for historical and ideological reasons, there is hope they could resist the same against China for economic reasons. |
shoodboi2:The same "don't buy Russian gas/oil" mentality, yet the US and the EU still buy Russian crude and gas. They want others to suffer from problems they initiated. |
WriterrNg:I knew it would come to this. Let's see what these countries would have to do. So what about countries where there is a substantial ethnic Chinese population? Like dem Malaysia, South Korea, Vietnam and Japan? Thailand and Indonesia? Even Chile sef. Or what about Chinese nationals in these countries? Are they going to deport them simply because the US says so? |
tunapawizzy:China trades with MORE countries than the US does. That is the difference. Africa cannot afford Made-In-USA products, and even the ones which come as aid sef, Trump has cancelled USAID. The remittances sent by Africans in the US have nothing to do with African countries trading with China or anyone else. |
Mccollins042:Trade with the US is about 15% of the economy - both import and export. The Chinese have built alternative sources over the past five years. Export to the US is less than 3% of China's total GDP. The Chinese have vowed to fight on. This is not Canada, and this is not the first time Chinese entities have been attacked by the US, yet they bounced back. See SMIC and Huawei. |
grandstar:That is because corporate America wants to see China fail or be destroyed. Corporate China has been eating into Corporate America's profits and country source of revenue. The same in Europe. The West wants to see China fail, and they believe Trump can do the work regardless of his antics. So they put up with him. |
dominique:Please revert the post I made in the foreign affairs section, which got hidden by the spam bot and unban me there. I use God take beg you. Thank you. |
"Whether the West likes the Chinese model or not isn't relevant. If we don't match China in education, industrialization, tech we are left behind. They are outworking us and therefore successful. No one has any inherent right to trade surpluses. It's like the Olympics: the hardest working athletes win" "his article felt very weird. It seems to be warning about an impending disaster. But the truth is, it has happened in many countries already. Take, for example, Saudi Arabia, where we have cheap GAC and Changan cars flooding the market, depriving quality and premium brands like Toyota and Volkswagen of the middle class. A lot of my friends recently bought Chinese vehicles which have shorter waiting times and better technologies (cool features) at way cheaper prices. Now, even if the quality of some of these cars is debatable, the price they come with justifies it. You can now buy 2 cars in 15 years than 1 before. Basically, the entire sector has been transformed into something like a fast fashion market by being flooded with cheap, replaceable products. Not many countries in the world can compete with China in terms of industrial or technical capabilities, especially in manufacturing. I think tariffs are not just about the trade deficit, but, to stop China ripping off the rest of the world. Because, while globalisation looks good for brands and developing economies, the truth is that advanced economies take a hit even if it means affordability" Both comments got my attention when I read this article (see below) about how Chinese made goods will flood the world's markets (ex-USA) as a result of the tariffs. From the other comment section, it is clear that the West cannot out-do China's manufacturing prowess. Not just how to make things, but also how to quickly sell and do so in an enchanting manner. Let's not forget that China enjoyed almost a trillion dollar surplus as of last year and still enjoyed more based on recently published data. People have to come to the realisation that this century is that of the Chinese. These people are roaring machines and do their job diligently. It is time to ask them "how una dey do am?" rather than try to antagonise them every eke market day. See here: https://www.nytimes.com/2025/04/07/business/china-manufacturing-exports-trump-tariffs.html In another article, this time about the biotech industry in the US - the world's most profitable and biggest, there are fears that highly skilled jobs could be lost and an entire industry could die off as a result of China's manufacturing and now soaring biotech research and innovative strengths. Some excerpts from the article: "Predictably, the number of drugs in development in China has surged. In 2014, Chinese companies had fewer than 500 drugs in development, a far cry from the nearly 6,000 drugs that US companies had in development that year, according to the industry publication Endpoints. Fast forward a decade. By 2024, China had experienced massive growth, boasting more than 6,000 drugs in development. Meanwhile, the United States peaked at more than 9,000 drugs in development in 2022 and has dipped slightly since then." "A key reason that American companies work with Chinese labs is that they have scientists who are on staff and ready to go. That means, Voren said, a company “can immediately get work started and make progress,” rather than “building your own lab and spending six months to hire people.”" "Tim Opler, a managing director at Stifel, a New York-based investment bank, marveled that China’s biotech ramp-up is happening at the very moment that our government is slashing support for scientists. Opler said some biotech investors have historically believed that Boston sits at the epicenter of innovation, and China just copies our breakthroughs. The thinking goes like this, he said: “Here in Boston, we’re next to The Broad, we’re next to MIT, we’ve got Harvard.” But after traveling to China in March, Opler concluded: “That view is no longer accurate. In a very short period of time, you’re seeing Chinese companies move at lightning speed into areas of high innovation in the biopharmaceutical industry.”" "In a conversation with a CEO who makes an ingredient for aspirin, Opler asked if he was worried about tariffs. The CEO laughed and told Opler: “If it was a 100 percent tariff, it wouldn’t matter. It is so inefficient to make [an ingredient] in the United States, the tariff could be 200 percent, and it would be more efficient for me to make it in China." See here: https://www.bostonglobe.com/2025/04/14/business/biotech-boston-kendall-square-jobs-drugs-labs/ This is the Chinese Century. The earlier everyone gets used to it, the better. |
Mohisah:I don't do anything with the hopes of getting free money or tips. If it comes, good. If nothing, one moves on. What if you live in a place where tips are forbidden? What would you do? |
JaskanFactor:Oh please! Let's be serious for once. When were Chinese black in colour? Did the same wipe out of "black Chinese" happen in both Koreas and Japan? What about Vietnam? Were the black as well? |
Mohisah:There's nothing like free money. What you get is what you worked for. |
LordBiden:Coming from someone who wants to cheat them. Na Indians and Chinese fit Nigerians very well. I love it so much! |
nedekid:You made a good point here and if one wants to help, do it from a distance and without cameras. I'm sure the Chinese embassy will warn their citizens not to offer any monetary assistance to Nigerians in full glare. Aside celebrities, private life and enjoyment na eim sweet pass |
Tightpussy2024:I am curious, when you bash men like this, I ask, don't you have men in your private lives? This applies to the dem alpha males. This is why extremes are not good because hey, they are extremes. As for China, even prominent anti-China Western media outlets have admitted that the Chinese have surpassed the US in most aspects of development. I am interested in only the US because any country that surpasses it has surpassed the entire West. Yes, we have Chinese emigrating, but that is the bane of a highly populated country, not necessarily a China thing. And even regarding migration, the Chinese are not so desperate as the Indians or we Nigerians. They are more selective these days, even though we have a few in the Darien Gap. I am not surprised you support, purportedly, the West since most women, especially from Anglophone countries or exposed to Western media, fantasised about the region. But from a geopolitical and economic point of view, the rise of China has benefitted many African countries. I am concerned about the continent as I am an African. China's rise has provided technical expertise, much more affordable loans, and affordable products for many Africans. Without Chinese affordable industrial equipment, there would not be many factories across the continent. Without Chinese affordable telephones and telecommunications equipment, many Africans would not access the Internet as we do. Without Chinese loans, there wouldn't be functioning railway lines in many African countries. There is still more to gain from the relationship with the Chinese, but so far, it has been great considering no one forces African countries to be so indebted to any bank or change their laws before being assisted. |
Tightpussy2024:Well, it is his fault for spending money on a woman he is not married to yet wants her to be tied to him for a long time. It is another reason I am against any romantic relationship after one's first tertiary education that lasts for more than two years. It is very unfair to the women as women lose a lot in such. I cannot, at my age, start dating a lady who is 29/30 and keep it at that level for three years. Additionally, this is why it is better to be platonic friends with females rather than the concept of "see a lady today, collect number and begin to profess love". There has to be a level of friendship between both persons. |
Bookhub:It is called cognitive dissonance. They buy the attraction of women yet complain that the women love money so much. |
cococandy:The concept of nationality and citizenship can always be changed by any president. Biden anti-China semiconductor laws mandated ethnic Chinese who are naturalised Americans to choose between working for Chinese technology entities or being Americans. Does that sound right where someone of a different ethnicity/race is mandated to choose between his/her ethnic enclave and naturalised home? My summary is that the world is changing, so individuals have to change with it. The concept of naturalisation and citizenship will change in the near future. Also, I watched the video of this thread and there were clear examples Donald reeled out. So the headline isn't complete and fair to Trump. I'm all for dealing with criminals thoroughly, ruthlessly, mercilessly and brutally. |
LegacyB:If Nigerians in Nigeria supported Trump, I'm curious, how is that a problem? Is Trump Nigeria's president? |
Half of the commentators on the front page who mock Trump are demonic tribalists! It's always hilarious reading tales from monkeys who do worse to their fellow Black people lament about the antics of Donald Trump. So, hey, he's gonna deport bonafide criminals regardless of nationality. What are you going to do about it? 🤷🏿♂️ |
Tayorshd87:Again, the tale that southerners aren't or weren't investing in agriculture is a lie. During Adesina's tenure as agric minister under Jonathan till early years of Buhari's first tenure, many southerners invested massively in agriculture - open large poultry farms, cassava plantation, corn plantation etc. There were many threads on Nairaland showing off their investments. What happened? Buhari unleashed his maraudring brothers on agric investments thereby ruining them. To be fair though, some of these southerners campaigned and voted for Buhari in 2015 and 2019. So no sympathy from me. Rotimi Williams, the then second biggest rice farmer in the country after Olam, fled to Senegal because of the persistent attacks on his farms and outgrowers. Another big time farmer who studied at Harvard faced insecurity issues. Yet another Harvard alum (as couples) complained about the insecurity issues affecting farmers. I'm not making this up. See here: https://www.nairaland.com/7723312/nigerian-kidnap-gangs-drive-big-time Are people still investing in agriculture? Sure, one of such is in Ekiti but many persons, especially those with little connection to political power, have been discouraged, had their investments destroyed, have been killed or seriously injured etc. So the claim that southerners didn't or don't or would not invest in agribusiness and/or agriculture is a terrible and demonic lie. |
TimeManager:Another dishonest monkey! So the communities in Enugu where over 1000 people were displaced is in which part of the country? What about farmers in Ondo who got maimed and butchered right on their farms? When their bodies were taken to the government house in Akure, the demon by name Lucky there refused to attend to their cries. You people are terribly, diabolically and disgustingly dishonest! Tufiakwa!!! |
