Education › Re: Which University Abroad Admits 3rd Class Grade Students For Master's by Gerrard59(m): 2:26am On May 04, 2025 |
casualobserver: You can enrol for a masters degree without a bachelors degree. It depends on many things. 1) the university. 2) the standing or reputation of the university where you obtained your 1st degree 3) your work experience 4) the demand for the course and 5) whether you are paying foreign or home student fees. 6) the quality of your cover letter stating why you should be admitted despite not meeting the requirements.
I know someone who got a masters degree in a prestigious university in the Uk who didn’t have a degree (he dropped out) but he had worked in his fathers business in Nigeria for a few years and had become a manager…possibly even a director. When I was doing my Masters degree in the UK, the stated minimum was a 2:2 but we discovered one of our classmates had a 3rd classs …….from Oxford University!
So the answer to your question is yes! The question is how you present your admission case to get accepted into a master’s degree that is worth your investment i.e a good university and a good course! If it is just to obtain a masters degree, the. there are tons of universities both good and bad that don’t have enough students applying for some courses and will admit anybody with money. A masters in a subject without demand from a university without a good reputation may turn out just as unhelpful in the job market as a 3rd class degree.
I don’t want to mention names but I know very successful people in Nigeria who got a 3rd class (even pass) did not do a masters and rose to the top of their profession. They were always intelligent but spent their time at university partying!
It also depends of the field, In some cases a master’s is a waste of time and he is better of doing a professional certification. E.g Marketing, IT, accounting, In some cases the guy without a degree but with professional certification will get a job ahead of the guy with a master’s!
Uk Universities are now self funding and money talks. They will bend their rules of admission for money. You just have to be creative with your application. For instance if you want to apply to LSE, apply for a course that is in less demand. Instead of Msc economics or MSc finance, apply for MSc Accounting and finance, MSc economics and management, MSc econometrics and mathematical economics etc. It’s a less prestigious course but what you want in the job market is a masters that says LSE on it! Woe unto any HR manager from Nigeria not to call you for an interview with a masters from LSE!
What they will do is put you on a wait list and if they don’t have enough numbers they may give you a late admission.
PS: most universities will advertise on their website which courses have vacancies (aka less demand)
Finally, target the best universities, you are trying to make up for a 3rd class. You wont do that by getting a masters from a mediocre university. Don’t forget they want and need your money! Although, this poster can be very tribalistic, this is a thorough and brilliant response. |

Tolezy001: Hello everyone, I’m in a tough situation and would really appreciate your thoughts.
I’m 25 years old, and ever since I got an unconditional admission offer my father has been determined to sell his only house to fund my travel to the UK. Despite my repeated attempts to convince him otherwise, he insists that this is the best way to secure my future. While I deeply appreciate his sacrifice and belief in me, I can’t help but worry about the risks.
Selling his only home means he will have nowhere to fall back on if things don’t go as planned. And as much as I want to explore better opportunities abroad, I don’t want to see him struggle or regret this decision later. What would you do in my situation? Do you think this sacrifice is worth it? I’d love to hear different perspectives, especially from those who have been in a similar position or understand the realities of starting over in a new country. Thanks in advance for your advice! Don't sell! One of the best things my mum did was insisting that she would never sell any of her properties to fund my studies. For that reason, I had to search for countries with considerable tuition fees (I am not the only child) and hunt for scholarships. It depends on what you study and the job you get after graduation (not a guarantee these days for int'l students), but it would take you time to earn enough to afford a similar property as a replacement. This is even before thinking of your own property if you wish to own one in Nigeria. I also recall a video on Facebook where a dude, looking haggard, lamented how he sold off both his properties to fund his japa trip (I think the Netherlands or thereabouts), but it took him four years to be able to buy one as a replacement. The video, according to him, was a warning to those in Nigeria not to japa. Although he did not explain how he got the funds to build those properties in Nigeria before he japa'd. But hey, that is the reality - it will take you some time to get a replacement if it is sold to sponsor you. Another thing too is if you are the only child, then it could be done. But if you got siblings, you cannot be that selfish. |

Only in Nigeria someone will sell something for 1000% profit and bully their competitors to sell at the same rate. I said what I said. Not everyone on Nairaland is as dumb as you think. Some of us have extensive experience in this things. If you do not regulate prices we see prices like we see in Nigeria. It’s our fellow Nigerians doing us. Buhari did the same with wheat only for the prices to soar. The moment government regulates prices, they actually increase. The alternative will be to reduce import duties and levies. Tinubu did this not long ago and food prices reduced. The other alternative is to flood the market with government reserves. From the same thread, I realise we don't have those fishes within West Africa. So your Marine and Blue Economy strategy has even failed before it commenced. So, what would you suggest now? Regulate the Atlantic ocean? BTW, good luck dictating to businesses across an ethnically fractured country to reduce their prices. |

Some people seek to make 500% profit and attack sellers who sell for cheaper. Nigeria as a country should not be this import dependent. Especially if it’s coming from Cotonou. A lot of these fishing countries get this fish off the coast of Nigeria.
Another thing Marine and Blue economy minister who is just sitting there collecting salary supposed to be chasing and stopping these thieves in our waters. Someone mentioned devaluation of the naira, another mentioned import duties but you blame innocent businesses that have to generate a profit? Then you suggest regulation, please read me clearly, regulation leads to higher prices, not lower. The moment government regulates a service or product, the price increases, not reduces. This is a global phenomenon. I really don't know why university educated Nigerians reason poorly than expected. |

Family › Re: Why Do Married Men Cheat? by Gerrard59(m): 8:16am On Apr 30, 2025 |
franchasng: Humans are nothing but animals with high level of reasoning, but in all, humans are still animals and they exhibit animalistic traits.
If you watch animal kingdom, monogamy does not exist there. In animal kingdom, one male animal mates with as many female animals in his domain as possible. You will never see a situation where 1 female animal will be mating with 20 male animals, it's not possible, I am a wildlife lover, that's the only thing I watch when I am bored aside comedy skits, war documentaries and politics news.
Whiteman created monogamy to control overpopulation in the world just as they created democracy. Naturally, humans don't practice democracy in community leadership just as the natural form of man don't practice monogamy.
In the Bible, we read about many great Kings and Queens, and we read about Kings having hundreds of wives and concubines but we never read about Queens having hundreds of husbands and lover boys because it's not natural.
Women by nature are the custodian of sexual chastity, it is not by their power or because they are too good, it is a natural gift bestowed on them by nature from birth to reduce human population, sexual sanity, etc. Yes there are female sex maniacs, but they are very few, it's not common.
Naturally, men and women don't have the same level of self control for sex, nature made it so to control population and to help women survive in the world. If most men don't desire sex or crave for sex so much like most women, women all over the world will suffer. Tell me how women will survive the world if men don't have higher sex drive and craven for sex than women? It means men can go about their lives without bothering to approach any woman for sex or for relationships, and this will translate to men not caring for women or having any iota of sympathy or compassion for women, guess what that means? Hell for women cos Kings, Presidents, Emperrors, Dictators, Rulers, etc who made laws to consider and protect women from men wouldn't have ever made such laws. Western laws that protected women rights wouldn't have existed cos men wouldn't be compelled to even make such laws.
So men cheat because it is their nature to cheat. Men that don't cheat (if any at all) are doing so out of extreme sacrifice and it has nothing to do with love for their wife or lover, it mostly has to do with spirituality, political position, fear of being caught, fear of the consequences (financial, disease, spiritual backlash, political, business, status).
Men that cheat on their wives doesn't mean they don't cherish their wife; a man can cherish his wife and still have extramarital affairs with other women albeit responsibly/respectfully.
And its funny reading people say Nigerian men abroad don't cheat, really? They also believe that Whitemen and other races don't cheat too? Oh really? They also believe that cheating abroad is very difficult for men or let me say difficult for Nigerian men, are you serious? Lolz
Dear ladies, stop letting this issue disturb you so much, and stop letting some women's claims that their husband is different, their husband doesn't cheat, their husband is disciplined, their husband loves them so much to dare cheat on them, bla bla bla to cause you depression, they never know and may never know.
The desire to mate or have sex with as many women he finds sexually appealing is inherent in all sexually active men, any married man that is very sure he hasn't had sex with any other woman except his wife deserve an applause but that doesn't make him a superman or a wonderful man or the greatest or best man, he only managed to avoid it out of fear of the consequences (financial consequences, legal consequences, spiritual consequences mostly based on doctrines & instructions) and most times due to lack of opportunities caused by any of the below reasons:
1.) Financial lack 2.) Location 3.) Societal/political/religious position
All sexually active men in their natural form, are promiscuous in nature.
If you doubt me, do the below assignment.
Get 1 good looking guy and 1 good looking girl above 18 years, go to a random market or street anywhere in the world, let the girl approach 20 different men with a short note on a blank sheet of paper that says:
You look cute, I really like you, can we find somewhere and have some good sex please?
I tell you that at least 15 out of 20 of the men the pretty girl will approach will say yes without stress.
Now let the handsome guy do the same by approaching 20 different women, I assure you that more than 15 out of the 20 women will flare up or even yell at him or say no to him.
This is a natural test that should make you understand that the desire to have sex with different women by men is a natural trait and weakness in all men, it's a natural curse on men, and nature made it so for so many reasons.
That you as a woman is able to control your urge or desire to have sex with different men for free is not by your power, it is a gift given to you by nature for so many reasons, so stop judging or blaming men.
You will be surprised to see that cheating man in heaven at the end of the day while those you feel are sexually disciplined and don't cheat end up in hell. Leave God that created men the way He created them to judge them with their sexual weaknesses, peace End of discussion. Church don close, make everybody go house. The man, highly religious, who I thought would never cheat on his wife don cheat and later married his side chic. My supervisor, a knight in his church, dey carry woman steadily. Foreign men nko? That's what they discuss after business. One asked him what about Black women? Say if him and the other Japanese enter Nigeria, I will be in charge of arranging women for them. It's nature. Fighting it is futile. |

Learner247: While sometimes married men tend to cheat because some wives weaponize sexual intimacy, I won't dwell on that because of your comments about the case study that you presented in your piece. So, I will talk about growing success of men and the hypergamous nature of women as key reasons many married men cheat.
Firstly, most men tend to get married at the beginning of their career and foray into wealth creation. As a result of this, they are usually very busy building their lives and climbing the success ladder. In fact, at times like these, many of them are religious, and are very committed to their partners. Significant part of their income goes into home upkeep. Nothing much is available for frivolities and they invest good portions of the little income left into personal development and emergency account. But as they have more disposal income, things tend to change as they can now afford to act on their wild desires.
In addition to the foregoing, most ladies in our society tend to get attracted to successful men, irrespective of their marital status. As husbands begin to have more and more disposable income, grow in their careers etc. they become more visible and attractive to most women. Since some of these men become managers, top leaders, captains of industries eventually, they have meetings outside of their usual places of residence and sometimes even have to go to such meetings with female colleagues and/or secretaries who have been looking for avenues to have amorous relationship with such men for various reasons. Men naturally find it difficult to resist what they see, particularly if it's the body aligns with his "specification".
As I conclude, rising disposable income plus the humongous drive of the female gender towards successful men are some of the major reasons males who have already tied the knots to cheat on their wives. It is important that married men understand that faithful wives deserve faithfulness as well, learn to be empathetic irrespective of their financial success and to create formidable boundaries against uncouth fellows. Something I could have written. I am glad we're becoming more honest in our comments. Mind you, it is not a Nigerian thing alone, as it happens across the world. That is the basic biological makeup of men. |

Another thing: it is better to be a sex worker in Nigeria than in Dubai where the competition is fierce. Most of those fetishes listed are already practiced in the Lekki-Ajah area. So why head to Dubai? Maybe for the USD.
That said, there are good jobs in Arab countries. The problem is that most require professional skills, and those in the oil industry are heavily male-dominated. The best countries are Saudi Arabia and the UAE. Maybe Qatar as well, but the roles are mainly oil industry.
Ultimately, if you desire to japa from Nigeria and live comfortably, you have to be skilled. Anything aside will lead to a MISERABLE life. |

Instead of the one-tune one-beat single-lyric local kind of music they make from that their part of Nigeria, why not establish a music school that will teach the youth from that area how to make good modern and internationally acceptable music? Employ experienced international capable persons to teach the youth how to compose and write good lyrics, make good beats and all that. Establish the structure and boldly right your name there, this will have your name immortalized forever. This is the best way of displaying affluence. Sorry, but you cannot dictate how people spend their money. If you desire change in a particular area, become rich and effect the change you desire. I find it odd and annoying when others try to dictate how other people should spend their own money, especially when those with the dictatorial attitude don't have money. BTW, there are others who do what you outlined. |
