I think this government is gradually switching into a TOTALITARIAN SYSTEM. The bill sounds so good on the surface but digging deep I believe this is a dangerous piece of legislation.

Imagine when your local contribution ( osusu by igbos, ajo by Yoruba's) can't operate anymore without authorization from abuja.

The speed at wish the bill scale through the first and second reading makes it more suspicious.

I think this government is up to something with this (ambiguous bill) .

I just pray the effect won't be more than what we presume.
Having read through it, nothing unusual. It is a welcome development, Nigeria is not a banana Republic. It is needed.

The basis of our wretchedness is the preponderance of wicked thieves and fools at the corridors of power sir.

I respectfully disagree with you on this.

Even if we don't rely mainly on oil and diversify so much so we have as many major forex earners as there are states, but still have this crop of leader, we would still remain wretched!
Aregbe is just mirror image of Okonjo Iweala, both went on borrowing spree using temporary and non reliable surge in crude oil revenue. Both of them like to blow hot and cold at the same time.
Ordinary Agric sector, he couldn't revive.

'said to'...it is also said that he's in d custody of the army and so they should produce him.
Gone quiet? Can u even use your phone at an ordinary police checkpoint? Of course under that barrage of bullets and military assault he went quiet probably cos they killed him or apprehended him because I can't see how he could have escaped all that unless the uniformed thugs were asleep. So that is why they must produce him and explain what they were really looking for at his house.
What evidence do you have to claim that he was inside the compound when the soldiers arrived? The soldiers that arrested Boko Haram leader suddenly killed IPOBs leader.
Some of you still wishing that he won't be caught, that's why we having this cry of "killed or captured". When he's finally captured, the song will change again, as usual.

Go and watch Asari Dokubo video yesterday not today's. The video on militants refusing bribe to stop Biafra. In that video Dokubo said DSS and military had strong intelligence that Nnamdi Kanu was whisked away by heavily armed over 300 BSS and Niger Delta militants. That the military couldn't do anything due to the weapons they had. The military knows this but are ashamed of admitting it because it would be a disgrace that they were intimidated by militants. Watch Dokubo's video. Ask yourself, how can the army surround Nnamdi Kanu's Compound for days and hrs, only to lose him. Who is fooling who? They are hiding something. ..
Wow! Thereby leaving other IPOBs behind for target practice, just to protect Mr Kanu. The lies will never finish. The armless BSS must have been deadlier than Boko Haram.

After almost 3 years in power you are shamelessly still calling PDP. Who made bad economic policies that crashed the naira in the last 2 years?
A failure always looks for who to blame for his abysmal performance.
It was because of people like you that PDP was able to stay for 16 years in power.
What you see today is as a result of years of mismanagements and looting.
Economy crashed because it was bound to crash as warned before not because APC came to power.
People like you can never see the connection between your past and your future.
PoliticsRe: Justice Ayo Salami Heads NJC Corruption Cases Monitoring Committee by GetMeRight: 8:54pm On Sep 27, 2017
According to Oye, “The committee is expected to drive the council’s new policy on anti-corruption war;” adding that the primary functions of ‎the committee include, “regular monitoring and evaluation of proceedings at designated courts for financial and economic crimes nationwide; advising the Chief Justice of Nigeria on how to eliminate delay in the trial of alleged corruption cases; giving feedback to the Council on progress of cases in the designated courts; conduct background checks on judges selected for the designated courts; and evaluating the performance of the designated courts.”
Wailers won't like this. Reason? They believe that APC government is witch-hunting PDP members.

You are still of the opinion that Buhari is the cause of your suffering? Not Buhari but PDP.

It's called non-governmental, what's the government business in it.
"Government running a nongovernmental Institute" what an oxymoron!
When we are talking about the government handling little affairs of the state in the form of restructuring, they are trying to increase it.
Nigeria government has failed and we shouldn't take another risk to put something not of their concern in their care.
And government shouldn't concern itself on how NGOs in Nigeria are spending their funds with all these terrorism and secession agitation? New developments call for new measures.
It is not as if the government will be helping them in spending their funds but just to monitor their activities. It is a welcome development, long overdue.

That law must not pass! Phone your senator and tell. Senator Umar has only 1 vote!

Unless the law is watered down and the toxic parts removed, it must not pass. We must not encourage bad behaviour.
What are the toxic parts?

littlewonders:
This man is deeply insane.

The Bill “is clearly intended to encourage the excesses of bad government”. The Bill endangers constitutional guarantees of freedom of association, assembly, speech and even of freedom of conscience and religion and “will license unconstitutional discrimination too.” They are just working on taking this country back to military rule.

Nigeria is finish,
Youths are abandoning their homes and country in sojourn for greener pasture due to psychological Python dancing around their progress.

We call them leaders, but these men have become machines.
Let them pass the damn bill. All these thieves setting up NGOs just to enrich themselves, funding terrorists and secessionists. No accountability, no transparency.

It depends on their constitution, not up to the police. Nigeria constitution as a case of study, the husband can still walk if handled by a competent lawyer. Though I'm not sure how long the prison sentence would be if he doesn't walk freely immediately but certainly not death sentence in Nigeria.
BTW: I understand your comment now.

As for who should produce Kanu, I'm sure government knows that time is fast running for them. Having kidnapped or killed him, the onus is now on the military to produce him or release his body for burial. You can't hide a pregnancy!
Time is fast running? Assuming that Kanu was either killed or kidnapped by soldiers, what do you think will happen to the government if he's not produced either dead or life? I think chest beating still continue...........

In as much as I'm against the modus operandi used by Nnamdi Kanu for his agitation, I believe that in a democratic settings people are free to protest or make demand within the ambit of the laws of the land.

To tell ourselves the truth, this whole agitation for secession wouldn't have been there in the first place if these thieves in the Senate and the Executive do the right thing... social, economic and political justice, rather they systematically set the stage for all kinds of agitations from the Niger Delta up to the people of the South East.

Nobody who visits Abuja and then visit the south South and south east regions will ever think of One Nigeria, because it is very glaring that even the Duck that lays the golden eggs is left to die in hunger while her eggs are used to make riches.
So also with the East which has been neglected since after the civil war to develop on its own with little or no Federal government presence. No
roads, industries,Federal institutions to help rebuild the area from the effect of war.

Unless drastic measures is taken to restructuring this country to correct all these imbalances, many more Kanus will emerge and by then it will be too late to negotiate.

If truly these senators have the unity of this country at heart as they claim then they should allow for a total restructuring rather than seeking and protecting their selfish interests.
More Kanus are welcome as their will be many more soldiers to deal with them.
