It is the same factor that causes any other inter religious fight. Same thing is responsible for wars between various sects of the same religion.

Additionally, most of us only say God is all powerful, we don't really belong it. If we did, we wouldn't be fighting on behalf of the same God, using our man made weapons and killing or maiming others. Why not allow the all powerful God to fight his battles?
Why are we helping him, when he is the one to help us?
Many of us lack tolerance and we are completely carried away by thoughts that we are better than the other, when truly we are not.

With all the human elements involved in the making of those books they don't even think of the possibility of the books being wrong or missing information
