Stmema:
Good evening sabi mamas... I say make I come report myself n ask for direction cos then say who dey ask question no dey loss... So in the name of trying to ditch cereal n pap, I say lemme make home made food for DS... The pic below is what came out n the taste is HORRIBLE... I blended boiled brown rice plus sardine, spinach, ginger n garlic powder(which I detest by the way), red oil, n formula.. So I'm guessing there's what u can mix n can't mix... Pls can anyone help me with a guide as to dos n don'ts when mixing pls.... I'll be waiting cos this time n effort I put into this thing is paining ne
Lmao, I can imagine the purging that would have followed, though I doubt your baby would have agreed to eat that.

In addition to what other mamas have said

I hardly give my kids anything I can't eat myself. So the key is to make baby-friendly versions of your every-day adult food.
My kids won't eat blended boiled rice, so I blend dry rice then boil.

Same goes for pasta. Some kids don't mind tho.

If it's like plantain or potatoes, I boil and blend then put back in the pot and cook like normal porridge.

Blend dry rice then cook it like you'll cook your normal jollof rice but with little or no pepper and maggi and bones.
Hope you're not using canned Sardine, instead buy fresh fish, as well as fresh ginger and garlic.

Don't mix ingredients that would normally not go in the same meal. You can coom soup with the spinach and feed him semo.

MumDiamond:
Good morning mamas! Please I need your advice.

This is my first pregnancy, and i’m in my early second trimester. The changes i’ve been experiencing is nothing close to what I was told.

I hope everything is fine with me. I don’t eat anymore. I hardly have appetite for anything. The only thing I can eat is Yam and palm oil. If I eat anything else, I’m throwing up within 30 minutes leaving me very weak. I can’t eat beef, chicken, turkey, goat meat, Pomo, fish, eggs(boiled or fried) or even assorted. I think I eat moi moi once in a while, and maybe bread and tea.

Any other food sends me vomiting. I thought pepper was the problem but I took pepper soup last weekend and still vomited it. I really don’t want to lose weight because of this food habit. I don’t use perfumes anymore. In the office, I don’t use the kitchen when everyone else is there, because the smell of different food sends me to the restroom.

Is everything fine with me? Are there drugs I should be taking? The only drug I take at the moment is Pregnacare. Please mamas, help me. Is this normal?
Pele, it's all part of the pregnancy package. I think pregnacare is okay. You should have started antenatal by now, they would add more routine drugs when u need them.

The baby is almost 3 months old as at then. The family is constrained economically ma. It's heart breaking when your child is feeding and all your thinking is how to get the next meal for him. It can push someone to depression.

The man need the reassurance that giving the baby pap is not abusing nor denying him all the nutrients he requires as long as they do it the right way. I did so by choice then not because am having issues with buying the formula.

May the Lord help us in raising the little ones He entrusted in our hands. Amen.
In this thread you've recommend
Orange water for newborn
Coconut water for newborn
Pap for newborn
It haf do, and we should edit the thread title and rename it 'pregnant women and native doctors'.
You're missing the point that just because you gave something to your baby and he survived it doesn't mean it's now food to be recommended for babies.

@ the bolded, giving a baby that young pap is indeed abusing him and denying him all the nutrients he needs, what nutrients are in pap. Especially since the baby doesn't even have the luxury of breastmilk like your own baby did.

Abeg you pipo should epp me. I took my 4th TT in February this year and I'm supposed to take the last next year February before Giddyperson infected me with this communicable infection angry undecided angry

What do I do now? Do I just wait and take that normally or do I start afresh? cry cry

To think that when I went to take the 3rd and 4th and they asked me "are you pregnant?" I would roll my eyes at them before replying No. It's now their turn to roll eyes at meembarassed embarassed embarassed
Just tell them your story at the hospital, they will know which one you deserve tongue. I don't even understand the story of my own TT, I took two during GB, took one during Amali (I dodged them until third trimester), then when I went to do BC, the matron at the health centre told me I don't have to start over.

yes ma, he started refusing to breastfeed and even to take his formula milk, but now he’s started breastfeeding again, my worry is the boil also ma. He has taken ampiclox for it but it’s getting bigger
Buy mupiderm ointment for the boil, it would dry it up in 2-3 days. How long has he had the catarh, if home remedy is not working, maybe you should take him to the hospital.

Amen!!

And the crying of the baby calls for an alarm.

Some school of thought believe it's as a result of the marvel removal, and it will continue for 3 months from birth.

The question now, how can we stop the pain and cry he faces that will allow us all sleep at night?

Thank you
I hope the crying is not due to hunger. You can change to a cheaper brand of milk and feed him whenever he's hungry. Try to give him milk until at least 4 months then you guys can gradually introduce pap, cereal and pureed foods

well hes not always fun around other kids
I don't think it's normal. It's possible someone around is making him sleep a lot so that they can have some free time. cheesy if that's not happening, then maybe you guys are boring him. Buy him a football and take him out to play sometimes, take him for evening or morning walks, buy him a colouring book and some crayons, building blocks, toys. Let him watch cartoon or nursery rhymes sometimes.

Or is it that he's always tired or he has stuff to do and just keeps falling asleep in the middle of doing them? In that case, take him to A doctor.

These are Iomoge2's recipes. @spiceeamiee
I'm reposting cuz it's time to start all this again. cheesy cheesy

Kunun aya---
Beans
Plantain
Sweet potatoes
Rice

Kunu aya
Soak aya and dates over night
then add coconut and blend with water n filter.
Now u filter into iceblock for preservation else it will get spoilt as its hitting d ground.

Beans
Wash like u want to prepare moimoi and mak sure everY peel and black eye is removed so baby doesnt purge
Boil your titus fish and liver
Debone the fish and peel d nylon looking stuff off the liver
Use pressure pot to cook the beans, fish n liver after putting a spoon of oil.
Wen well cooked, blend and bring to boil again
Wen cold, serve in small small portions and freeze.
The constitency wont be too thick. Cos at a point my madam was using bottles

Plaintain
Unripe plantain. Bring to boil after adding carrot
Deboned fish, liver n snail
Blend all
Freeze after serving in smaller portions

Sweet potato is same as plantain

Rice
I bought already grounded rice for baby
But mumsy used ofada rice, picked it fir stone n used d dry mill to grind
Brought to boil after washing with carrots and some veggies
Blended all again with boiled fish, liver n snail.
Same cooking then serving then freezin

She has also asked i do meatpie mix and serve her
Not too much just one or two meals

Now in all of this. No spice or salt. Says d fish n liver is enough salt

Checked my BP today and its elevated. 142/100. This is the first time it'll get to this. I'm really worried. What medications can I take or what should I do huh
I'm 36 weeks pregnant
You should go to the hospital immediately and get it tested again, sometimes it could be an error in the reading or a one-off thing that will still go down. Either way your baby is almost term so no need to be scared, just go to the hospital.

Thank you for this. That's how my SIL told me that her Dd has ntị wa ịsị, I told her I've never heard of that and there's nothing like that. She went to hospital, they told her the same. When I went to visit her, I asked her about it, she told me a nurse gave her silverbird to use on her forehead that she did and now it has closed. I told her have you applied it on your skin, do you know it's harsh? I can't even use it for steam inhalation ni. She was like Ohhhh, no wonder my baby was always crying anytime I use it on her, I even finished it.
I told you there's nothing like that, hospital chased you back, you still went to see nurse mgbenga.
I was even telling her to wear firm bra, MIL told her to wear nursing bra that firm bra will give her breast cancer cos of the breastmilk. I shaa just left them cos it come be like tug of war with MIL.

[s]Meanwhile she's in my house doing ọmụgwọ for her daughter who's in her husband house. I don't know how someone will be here and there at the same time. She vehemently refused to go to SIL's house. HealthRe: NEW BORN BABIES! Are U A New Mum? Then Lets Discuss Babies Here!!!!! by Giddyperson: 7:53am On Sep 13, 2019
Speaking of Silverbird. I recently went somewhere to see a new born baby, and then a group of older women came to see the baby too and as soon as they arrived, they declared that the baby was underweight then advised the mum to get silverbird oil and start applying it the baby's soft spot everyday to increase her appetite.

I don't know which mother manufactures all this advice from the pit of hell and then makes it trend. Biko silverbird oil is way to conc for anybody's skin. It would probably burn my skin if i tried it. A mama here once wrote that she was advised to do the same thing and she ended up giving her newborn baby a serious burn on her head.
Hearing the advice again made me realize it might now be trending practice.

Biko poverty and frustration makes people do a lot of questionable things to their babies, which they then try to pass off as cool. Eucalyptus oil should not be put anywhere around your baby's skin, don't mix it with your baby's cream, don't give your baby a drop to swallow. It is not palm kernel oil cheesy.

Finally, if you have a new born baby, you owe it to him/her not to listen to the older women around you, this includes mother and mother in law cheesy. Most of them would say anything to remain relevant. If you're having double mind about following 2qqqany of their advice, then you probably shouldn't or at least ask here first. Thank you for your time.

My 2+month old baby has catarrh, pls what do I use
She didn't sleep well in the night and it's giving me concern

Pls help me o my people
If it's serious, take her to the hospital let them rule of infection. If it's just difficulty breathing at night, you can do steam inhalation before bed, (put hot water in a bucket, carry your baby and sit over the bucket, cover your head with towel and let her inhale) or you can put a drop of silverbird on your pillowcase at night so that you'll have the smell of it in your room all night to help with breathing, also keep her warm all night cuz the weather is still cold, we are currently sleeping with all the windows closed.

Hello lovely Moms! I'm a ftm who has been a silent follower of this thread for some months now, but just joined nairaland now.

My baby is almost 2 months old now (7weeks+). Pls I'll like to ask if it's normal for a baby of that age not to poop for 5 days straight? He only farts & pees regularly, and doesn't show any sign of discomfort. I'm really worried cos for an adult, it's a thing of concern not to poop for that long embarassed. BTW, he's on EBF. Thanks as I await your responses.
My son is still doing this at 8 months. Doesn't really eat solids, poops once a week.
