Some of you just open your mouths without any form of reasoning.... I can bet my balls that you haven't even travelled or stepped into any college outside Nigeria yet you are comparing UniLag to almajiree schools out of stupidity

the fact that Nigerian schools don't get rated high doesn't mean they are substandard, it simpy means they are under funded for research and have less papers published in academic journals... in terms of lecturing and delivering knowledge which is the primary responsibility of a uni, I bet you they far out class many , our graduates in Nigerian University are breaking bariers in top colleges overseas, my very own sister who graduated with 2.2 in accounting LeadCity Uni Ibadan , proudly graduated with 2.1 and almost clinching 1st class in law.. in University of Liverpool

PS: I haven't even attended a pubic institution anytime in my entire life nursery to uni was in privates, but I have seen lautech , U.I , OAU, and UniLag graduates do what many grads of other schools cant

.
NICE WRITE UP. BUT THE FACT THAT IT'S TOUGHER TO GRADUATE WITH A GOOD GRADE DOESN'T MAKE IT VERY GOOD.
IN NIGERIA UNIVERSITIES, SCHOOLS WHERE GOOD GRADES ARE HARD TO GET ARE TERMED BEST AND THE LECTURERS DOING SUCH ARE TERMED DISCIPLINED

THAT'S NONSENSE.
you are tough on students doesn't make u good

HealthCovid-19: Kano Insist On Going Ahead With Eid-el-fitr Congregational Prayers. by GIdiata(op): 9:13pm On May 22, 2020
The Kano State government has insisted on conducting the Eid-el-Fitr prayers in the state to mark the end of the Muslim Ramadan fasting month.

The Secretary to the State Government, Alhaji Usman Alhaji in a Friday evening statement made available to newsmen by the Press Secretary, Cabinet Office, Kano, Uba Abdullahi
enjoined the people to uniformly perform the forthcoming Eid-el-Fitr prayers devoid of any celebration.
Alhaji also warned that the traditional Sallah homage by traditional rulers is restricted to inside the palace only.

The statement reads, “In line with Kano State Government’s decision to allow for the conduct of Juma’at Prayer and Eid-il-Fitr prayers, the state government enjoined the people of all the five Emirates to uniformly perform the forthcoming Eid-el-Fitr prayers devoid of any celebration and ensure that traditional Sallah homage by traditional rulers is restricted to inside the palace only.

“We further urged the general public to observed theguidelines provided for the containment of this COVID-19 pandemic such as social distancing, and mandatory use of face masks during the prayers".

They are also advised not to go along with children and old people instead they should leave them in the home and immediately go back to their respective residence after observing the prayers.

"The state government wishes the teeming populace a happy and hitch-free Edil Fitr and urged for continuous prayers against the pandemic in the state and the nation in general,” the statement however reads.

HealthCovid-19; We Will Dispatch Experts To Re-engage Kogi Govt; Says Fg by GIdiata(op): 11:25pm On May 21, 2020
The Federal Government on Thursday announced that a ministerial team of experts would soon be
dispatched to Kogi on a mission to engage
authorities of the state, to determine the material and technical needs of the state on COVID-19.
The Minister of Health, Dr. Osagie Ehanire, announced in Abuja at a news conference by the Presidential Taskforce on COVID-19.
Recall that the Kogi Government had alleged refusal of NCDC officials to observe protocols in line with the containment of the coronavirus when they visited thestate.
The allegation stirred up drama between the two
parties as the NCDC officials left Kogi without
adhering to terms and conditions, rolled out by Gov. Yahaya Bello.
Following the development, Ehanire said the
committee would need to re-engage the governor and work with him and his team to create conditions with which the NCDC officials could complete their job. The minister said that the ministry had developed key performance indicators to track surveillance, strategic activities, and programmes. He said that the ministry would also be working with
states to establish protocols that would improve
communication and reporting. Ehanire noted that the fact-finding team that was sent to Cross River had returned and that the ministry had
been able to identify areas of need in the state.
He said that the state’s level of preparedness was reasonable. “They have set up a committee on COVID-19 and have also started making face masks and Personal Protective Equipment.”
He, however, said that a new medical team had been assembled to take over the management of This Day Dome Treatment Centre.
“Surveillance, contact tracing, and testing capacity are increasing in all states as more labs are being added to our network COVID-19 laboratories,” he said.

She agreed to date you while she was dating someone else due to impatience and greed, what made you think she would want to continue now that she knows he's now doing better? What exactly did you expect? You approached her when you knew she had a boyfriend and even went ahead to propose marriage to her. SMH!

The both of you are getting served what you ordered, did you expect any less? Don't even put the blame on her for what she said, you're both responsible for this. It'll only take a miracle for that love that was once there to be revived, 'cause her regrets alone (especially when she keeps seeing what he does) will make life miserable for you both.

You married a materialistic woman, and it's shocking to know that you didn't see that before now, or perhaps you did and you decided to ignore it, which is even more shocking.

Ironically, most guys' experiences that have been told here are actually ones where they are the victims. It would be very interesting to see the victim in this case narrate his story here lol.
you just narrated my mind. God bless you for having sense.

on an average, even above average, women are CHEATS, WICKED and STUPID. imagine cheating on your boyfriend who Paid your school fees when u were on d verge of dropping out. just because he's not always around. she got what she deserves more. if she had married her ex I'm 99% certain she would have been having extramarital affairs and would blame it on being sex starved. then d stupid guy took advantage of the fact that her boyfriend was not always around it serves him well too.

The bill would not need to be signed into law if Gender Equality was already a culture in Nigeria. You just discussed at length of how women are selfish because they themselves raise one gender over the other, and the same you now suggest that gender equality is already the norm in the same Nigeria? Come on dude!! Even you know that cannot both be true.

It is still the present generation. This present generation where raised by Fathers and mothers who were themselves raised to believe that men were superior to women. Up till this day, the very laws of the land Nigeria have the woman as a subhuman living at the mercy of the males in their lives. [s]A Woman's right to own property is still subject to her subhuman status in the same country. [/s]
Violence against women is still excused in that same country. [s]Rape victims still made to carry the blame for their rape. Women in marriages, still relegated to second-class status.... And you want us to believe Gender equality is already in place in your Nigeriahuh[/s]

That more and more women are more vocal about the abuse and violence that is perpetrated against them DOES NOT then mean the problem has been resolved. The cultures and rules that relegate them to subhuman status still exist and until those are rectified, nothing has changed.
Right to own properties; let us agree that they don't own. That's the reason u should teach your brothers/sons that women owning properties isn't an abomination.

Rape Rape Rape I knew you guys will always come up with this. Women do it too they also abuse young boys no matter how infinitesimal. Due to your selfishness, nobody even talk about the RIGHT OF A CHILD ANYMORE. Because the RIGHT OF THE GIRL CHILD IS ALL YOU KNOW
Anyways this topic is not about Rape.

You want men to value you equally, but after coming here to form ACTIVIST, you still confine your self and your daughters to all the house CHORES while your brothers/sons eat, sleep, press phone and play games. U go to your boyfriend/husband's house to form right in your house ur brother is WORSE and when u give birth Your sons only manages to clean the car(s) while you who knows good from bad confine your daughters to the Kitchen and other house CHORES.
TEACH YOUR SONS/BROTHERS TO RESPECT WOMEN(WE ARE ALL HUMANS) AND WATCH HOW THINGS CHANGES.

I understand how you feel about them, and I get it. However, I still say that when it comes to the issue of gender equality, these things should be of no issue as far as decisions are concerned, because many of these women are too blind(some of them cannot think for their own selves even) to see the connection between what they do and the consequences that stems from such acts. These women were themselves raised to believe in rigid gender roles and stereotypes, with an understanding that men control and define them as humans. So I think rather than see them as selfish people, you should probably pity them, cause one could even say"... they know not what they do"

Gender Equality will likely not benefit these women, or even this generation. What it will do however is provide others, yet growing up in the same Nigeria, an alternative to the general gender narrative that is still Nigeria. It will open a door for those who are willing to set a path different from the status quo, giving them the tools to blossom right there in the same country Nigeria.
gender equality is already in practice in Nigeria. only thing is it haven't been officially signed into law.

the MENTALITY is what you need to change. you mentioned women being raised to believe in rigid gender role. u and I know it's no longer true in the present generation. what we have now is wanting more and not read to give any let alone more.
women's voice have actually gained every necessary attention it need in Nigeria. all you gats do is take the responsibility of sinking sense into your male children/siblings.
imagine a son of a woman who is a woman/girl child right activist not knowing how to do any house chores because his mumband sisters are his slaves

a girlfriend complaining about his boyfriend but in her house her brothers both elder n younger are worse. she knows it's right for her bf to change but doesn't know she've got to work on hers.
HealthCovid-19; Kwara Police Intercepts 200 Lagos-bound Almajiri by GIdiata(op): 1:35am On May 10, 2020
Police in Kwara State on Saturday intercepted
about 200 youths suspected to be Almajiri
(street children) from Katsina State attempting
to travel through the state to Lagos. The lorry with registration number Kaduna MKA54XL conveying the youths was intercepted at Kanbi/Oloru in the Moro Local Government Area of the state.
Spokesman for the police in the state, Ajayi
Okasanmi, confirmed the incident. According to Okasanmi, the youths claimed that they took off from Funtua in Katsina State and were heading to Lagos. He said, The Kwara State Police Command, acting on intelligence, intercepted a lorry with registration number Kaduna MKA54XL drivenby one Shehu Hashim of Manigi in Niger State conveying about 200 suspected Almajirai at Kanbi/Oloru area of the Bode Sadu-Okoolowo
Expressway. On interrogation, they were said be coming from Funtua in Katsina State. He said the state Commissioner of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, ordered the return of the youths to Katsina.
He said, On the instructions of the CP, the
lorry and the 200 Almajirai were escorted by fully armed policemen to the border of Niger and Kwara State from where they will return to Katsina State they claimed they came from. He appealed to the public, especially those leaving in border areas to always volunteer information on vehicles plying illegal routes.

I do not believe it is as clear cut as you make it out to be. Many of these women are blind -- they cannot see what they do. Why? Because they themselves where raised in a culture and society that endorses male superiority. And so with this already built into their identity, they are essentially lost as far as even recognizing the problem that you point out there.

Imagine the case of a woman who already has 5 daughters, but still believes that she has to have a male child in order to properly validate her place as wife of her husband. This Nigerian woman has lived in the U.S for over 12 years. So, this cultural cancer runs deep for some of them.

I see your point and angle of argument. you are on track.
it's good you now understand my post.

buh another thing is drawing from your comment, if the said Woman finally gives birth to a male child, she will bring him up pampering him wrongly even his 5 sisters who wants boyfriends/husbands that won't confine them alone to house chores will pamper and spoil him for another girl. you are not doing anything to bring up ur brother(s) responsibly but expect to marry a responsible man who respects women.

that's why in my third point, I said sons/brothers that is I'm referring to female generally.

leaving mothers out of this.
many of the young generation that want these respectful attitude from men are slaves to their brothers at home. that's why I also used the lock down to site example. your brothers only enters the kitchen to fetch food after which he drops his plate on d sink for you/mum to wash. and many others and you expect that kinda child to respect women

Equality SHOULD NOT BE BASED on how each woman chooses to bring up their male children/brothers etc. The selfishness of some women should not impact their right to equality in any way or sense. The argument for or against equality should have nothing to do with that.

That said, I agree that there is a problem with the way women raise their children in Nigeria, and we ought not to forget that most of them do so because of what is considered the cultural norms in the country. Even when a mother strives to raise her children to see all genders as equals, society at large still does not recognize such positions, and it makes it difficult for these kids to truly grow up into the better humans they ought to become.
Read my first and third point it will tell you Nigerian women role. They are actually the ones that sew the superiority mentality seed in male.
