Happy new year everyone.

Concerning this NIN stuff, does anyone has an idea how to retrieve the NIN online? Like a portal or something. Where I can provide full name or DoB to retrieve it.

I would have retrieved it using *346# but I don't have access to the SIM card I used during registration and I've misplaced my NIN slip altogether.

Hi brother,
What if while checking it shows RESULT NOT AVAILABLE FOR THIS CANDIDATE IN THE SPECIFIED YEAR AND EXAMS DIET..
What does it mean?
Does it also mean each time I put my PIN and I'm shown the above my NUMBER OF TIMES CHECKED is being counted? Help clarify a brother.

Truth be told, he is not really doing well when compared to the money coming to the state. People ain't talking because he pays salary since the state is predominantly a civil service state. He has many sycophants who write everywhere on SM for him; that's why a writeup which mention "readiness" not "has started" is celebrated in the state. In my honest opinion, the last administration performed better than him.

My brother/sis you're saying the right thing, the write up is always readiness and not started. We've been hearing of this Seaport news everyday but nothing has happened positively, if it were the last administration it'd have been long completed. He is trying more than some governors nonetheless.

So others can learn from your experience and be sure everyone who has been running wild here have not be saying these words in anger, but out of love and concern.

Can you show images of your camon 15 device?
Or a screen shot of the about phone.
If they couldn't use a superior processor, at least a Full HD+ screen and a gorrila glass 5 for help small.

Phones / Re: Tecno And Infinix Are Cheap And Affordable Phones (demystifying The Myth) by giftometre: 8:13pm On May 19, 2020
Even as someone who knows phone a little, I have learnt a lot from this thread.

Transsion holdings abi company is really defrauding Nigerians. Personally, I feel so pained having wasted 67k to buy a Tecno Camon 15 last weekend. I mean helio p22, no full HD+, gorrilla glass 3, no type C USB and from this thread I've got to understand helio p22 can't even host a 48MP camera they claim... Kai! This money I just waste pain me to my bone marrow, wish I had seen this thread earlier, I'd have purchased a Redmi note 8 or 8 pro instead....

My experience above is the real situation out there, only from this thread I've got to understand Umdigi, Xiaomi and others offer better prices and specs than Transsion devices. I think Nigerians need more education on this. Asides Transsion devices, Samsung, HTC, Gionee and Apple, most Nigerians dunno other good devices out there and Tecno and the likes are taking advantage of that.

Thank you OP for your analysis. I'm never patronizing Transsion devices ever except they change from their dubious ways. Not many persons are aware of this daylight robbery.

Peace....

Phones / Re: Qualcomm Snapdragon: All You Need To Know. by giftometre: 10:12am On May 17, 2020
atheistandproud:
In response to today's market demands, there are 4 tiers of Snapdragon chipsets:
800 series
700 series
600 series
400 series

800 series
These are among the best chipsets in a phone that money can buy. Every year, Qualcomm releases a new flagship SoC for phone makers. These always start with the number 800. In 2018, SD845 ruled the market, in 2019, it was SD855 and SD855+. In 2020, after the failure of Exynos 990 to meet expectations and Huawei's Kirin yet to be appraised, SD865 currently strides the landscape like a Colossus (blame Peter Drury and PES 2020 grin).
Notable SD865 phones are Samsung Galaxy S20 (US, Korea), Xiaomi Mi 10 series, LG V60 and Sony Xperia 1 II
We expect next year's flagship SoC to be SD875

700 series
The 700 series was designed to bridge the gap between Midrange phones and Flagship phones. Most of the chips found in the segment are either upper midrangers (710, 712 and 720) or Flagship killers (730 and above).
These phones bring you close to the performance of a flagship phone at an affordable or competitive price. Notable SoCs here are the SD710, SD712, SD720G, SD730/G and SD765/G. The G in front denotes Gaming. These phones are pricey and cost anything from 90k and above generally ending at 200k but with the weak Naira, expect prices to rise.
Notable phones in this segment are Xiaomi Mi Note 10, MI9T, Poco X2, Realme X2 and Motorola Razr.

600 series
The 600 series focuses on a broad spectrum of phones from the budget segment to the Midrange segment. These devices are usually priced below 300 dollars or 90k Naira (but don't forget the weak Naira tho).
Notable chipsets here are SD625 (Mi A2 lite, Redmi 6 pro); SD 632 (Redmi 7), SD636 (RN5AI, Nokia X6, Infinix Zero 6), SD660 (RN7, Nokia 7.2), SD662 is new, SD665 (Redmi Note 8 ), SD670 and SD675 (Samsung Galaxy A70 and Redmi Note 7 Pro).

400 series
These are designed to cater for the entry level and budget market. Don't expect a lot from them as they come very cheap. My personal favourite is the Redmi Go (SD425), there's also SD429, SD430 (Gionee S11 lite, Infinix hot S3X), SD439 (Redmi 7a, Redmi 8/a), SD450 and SD460. These should all be priced below 45k or 50k at most.
.
@OP, which of the series would you place Tecno Camon 15? kindly respond.
Phones / Will Changing Font Through 3rd Party Apps Brick My Tecno Camon 15? by giftometre: 9:54pm On May 16, 2020
Good evening Nairalanders, I sincerely need an advice. Would using a Third party font app brick my device?

I'm using Tecno Camon 15 and it is unrooted. I am not satisfied with fonts the phone came with. I intend to download either iFont or HiFont app to use.

Phone gurus in the house, if I apply font via any of the app above, will it brick my phone? Please help, thanks.

PS: I have tried copying the fonts (.tff) from cache folder in iFont into the default font folder for my device, it is still listing those fonts. The default font app in Tecno Camon 15 is 'Magic Font'.

Did you register your device with your Gmail account? If yes,use someone else's phone to open the 'My device finder and enter your Gmail account. You can track the location of your device.
Note:Only if your location is enable and data is on.

That is the handicapped situation. The location was off and seems the phone is currently off/SIMs removed.

My experience with stuffs like this

First you must have your mobile data on. You can't track the phone...but you can know the last location synched to your phone.

Actually the guys that took my phone were little guys and they really don't know much about technology.

I logged in to my gmail and set my phone to show.. it was stolen and they should call a number

I guess when those guys saw that they had a feeling maybe i could track them.. so they called the number i put and warned us not to bring police... lol

Initially they were not picking calls but when the stuff started showing on the phone they picked .. they panicked i guess..

Summary is if the phone should fall into the hand of a techy person..
He might not really bother about what was displaying on the phone.

I have logged my Gmail account and find my phone. I actually sent that message and phone number to call too. I suppose the phone has been switched or the data is off and SIM cards removed...

I'll try the option on network providers, hoping it wouldn't be extra stressful for me.
Thanks for your input.

Good morning Nairalanders.

I just lost my phone via theft few hours ago. I have signed in Google account as well as 'Find My Device' installed and signed in on the device.
Can I track the phone using IMEI? I've tried using 'Find My Device', the phone isn't connected online.

Does Find My Device tracks the phone using IMEI? That is, if the SIM is removed or phone is factory resetted, can I still track it using IMEI once the phone is connected to the internet?

Can MTN/Airtel help in this situation (I had both SIMs inside)?

Please what other reliable methods can I use to retrieve my phone here in Naija?
Please help me, thanks.

The only thing keeping me company this period .

Business / Re: Over N400k Got Debited From My Stanbic IBTC Account Overnight (Pics) by giftometre: 7:59pm On Mar 29, 2020
To the OP

HAVE I BEEN THERE BEFORE?
YES, something of this exact nature happened to me sometime in 2015.
1. Money kept in ledger balance
2. No OTP notification
3. Just SMS and mail debit notifications
4. Transaction done on a Friday (11pm) on purpose.
5. Description of debit snowed a purchase of items via a PayPal user (in your case, I can sense it's the same, however I can't confirm if your transaction was carried out via PayPal platform)

HOW DID I RECOVER MY MONEY?
1. I sent a mail to all available PayPal customer service I could find online (email addresses, social media accounts) with the detailed explanation of the illegal transaction that same night.
I was replied on some and asked to show patience and they'll investigate the transaction.
2. Visited my bank the following Monday and blocked my Card.
3. Lodged a complaint and filled a fraud transaction form with detailed information about the transaction.
I was told there's a slim chance of recovering the money and it'll take about 90 days. I was willing to wait.
4. On the 3rd month, I received credit alerts in quick succession in the same manner they were debited.

I hope this helps and I feel someone has had access to either your mail account or card details or both.

Jobs/Vacancies / Re: Apply For 2019 NNPC Graduate Trainee And Experience Hire by giftometre: 12:17am On Feb 19, 2020
OgidiOlu3:

Don't let your emotions cloud your judgement. This thread isn't a pity party. The purpose of the thread is to get info about NNPC and what working there is like. I feel for those that didn't get in. Heck, I have friends that didn't get in but it is not the end of the world. We all have our stories.
I wrote here some time ago that I almost got a remote job that was gonna pay me $30k to $40k per year. That's over 1m every month, way above what NNPC would dream of paying GTs. Plus, I would actually learn a lot and grow too. I was very sad. In fact, it was one of the saddest days ever. All my plans vanished just like that but that experience taught me a lot.

My advice is this:

1. Get IT skill. It's one of the cheapest and easiest skills to learn. You can learn ANY IT skill that will get you a decent job online for free.

2. After getting this skill, apply to jobs abroad too. Honestly, I barely apply for Naija jobs. There are tons of jobs abroad. Now, I have two job offers, one in Naija and the other abroad. I am still deciding which to choose based on a number of things. My friend just got one in Norway.

PS: The IT skill I advised is because IT is the field that can easily get you jobs abroad. And there are jobs in abundance so if you're good, you will get one. IT is growing every day so it can't be saturated.

Godspeed!

Can I pm you?

I received the same SMS about refunding from a Bulk SMS number (NNPC ABUJA). Was actually paid twice. Thing is, I have finished the money.
Sent them a mail, they never replied. Gave them 5 days to reply, when they did not, I used the money...
Would failure of refunding the money affect one's chance of getting the APL? Supposed one was already on the list...
