lol i think mike okri the old man in the vid is very very creepy. i dont know why. like a pedophile feening for all those young chix passing him by. i was really turned off |
@TayoD yes we also pray for the dead esp those in purgatory. and no you are not assuming that they are omnipotent or omnipresent, afterall i dont know what goes on in heaven. of course praying to jesus is good enough but please tell me you've never asked anyone to pray for you before. if you want to believe these practices are anti scriptural even though i gave you bible verses, all good and fine because you choose to inteprete those scriptures differently. however the church does ascribe utmost importance to the bible, without the church you wouldnt have your bible anyway. however, the church also uses tradition in its catchechism. this is because peter is believed to be the first pope and that line of continuity was never broken, so things that the disciples and early christians did that were not recorded in the bible are considered to be tradition and as such are put in the catcechism (this is why a lot of ppl say Catholics do stuff that isnt in the Bible, The bible isnt the end all and be all of the church, i.e we dont do sola scriptura) |
ikere ekiti is place in ekiti which is a nigerian state qatar is country in the arab world |
hahaha nollywood is controlled by idumota, lagos and iweka road, onitsha and maybe alaba if it is the purple man that controls these areas, the purple man is in charge of nollywood ![]() i personally think its the enterprising igbo man. on the real tho, i've noticed that a lot of english films portray the igbo side of life, at least the ones that i have watched. i think that they sidestep this by giving everyone english names. but if you look at the practices they are igbo. i mean how many of these tribal english movies have you seen that were not an eastern ethnic group. not that im complaining oh, at all at all, i learn a lot from them. and i always ask my igbo friends for follow up and clarification yoruba movies on the other hand are really in their own niche. the problem with all this control is that these ppl are not interested in making movies as an artform or social commentary or even just a plain ol good movie, to them it is a business. that is why we rarely get fresh actresses. and its bad for nollywood. my own too cents |
do you know that RCCG probably has branches in all these countries you mentioned. they are taking ovvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvaaaaaaaaaaaaaa man . maybe those countries will soon be like naija ![]() eheheeh, me i've always said they should pay tax. lol the same thing ppl sneered at the roman catholic church during the ages, is the same thing they are doing now. i will sit back and enjoy the ride |
when is the fideo coming out now |
@ TayoD you heard wrong one of the steps to canonization is that miracle(s) occur when you ask the saint to intercede for you not when you pray to the saint. the same way you would say remember me in your prayers so and so because i have exams next week or pray for journey mercies, the same you have prayer warriors and prayer partners and prayer groups. when the Lord say when two or more are gathered in my name, i am there. i didnt see anything about it being by force that ppl must be alive of course, some ppl do pray to saints, this is syncretism possibly because due to culture and past religions. as you well know a lot of religions involve one big God who is quite inaccessible and lots of small gods. so some ppl especially converts and ppl who dont understand the catchechism these lesser gods with saints and pray to them to gain favour with God. this is wrong but ppl still do it. like blacksmiths praying to ogun to get to oludamare, ignorance and lack of info i say. but that is not what the church teaches. it is sad that it happens but the church cannot be policing what you are doing with that shrine to mary in your house lol. as for being born again, that is baptism and confirmation in the church. a lot of ppl think that being baptised as infants is wrong and confirmation isnt such a hot idea. but then again the purposes and meaning of baptism in the church are slightly different from that in a lot of protestant and pentecostal churches. furthermore, salvation also takes on a slightly different meaning. |
lmao |
@oracle, gigitte is not that hard to spell moving on, my intent is not malicious but u raised a few salient points. i myself am on here a lot, but i dont post a lot and nairaland is very informative, i agree. i'm sure seun has a way of knowing who comes and doesnt post. but ppl who register and never post or never come back are painting a false pic of nairaland, better that 'the church be small and holy'. IMO,sha also, i didnt say guests were not welcome. registering is primarily to post and view other ppl's profiles. i never said guests had to be invited to view nairaland's content, please consider the first post carefully. what me i dont get is when ppl register and dont post, dont read nothing. it gives nairaland bogus membership and that doesnt sit well with me. maybe it does with u and seun. another reason why i suggested this is because a lot of ppl join and then they cant deal with seun and they start badmouthing him on the net. even tho bad publicity is still publicity and it makes Nl fun, i was just thinking tht perhaps it might be better if there were trial runs first. i mean i have my ish with the site, but pros far outway the cons and also change is progress, i dont know where seun wants to go with nairaland but this is just one direction. i was only suggesting that there are things that could be done with nairaland if it were by invitation only. the process is not even long. you read, you want to join, seuns email addy is at the bottom and he moderates everyday so he'll give u a trial run lasting however long you want or maybe however long he decides is good enough. a password is not required to view content hope you understand now gigitte |
yeah true but due to the surrounding culture and moral upbringing, naija girls are less likely to feel comfortable wearing bikinis and stuff. afterall environment does affect personality (abi how do they say it) @twinkledew, how many times have you gone to naija and saw girls wearing booty shorts or short shorts or even miniskirt on the streets in a place like lagos oh (when it is really hot oh, not like a normal harmattan day or sumn) , talkless of ikere-ekiti? so it does have a lot to do with country. you dont expect someone from say qatar that has been covering up all her life, to come to yankee and start wearing bikini tomorrow (unless she was omo-ita before before lol) but of course with the world becoming a global village times are changing. i bet if you went to bar beach now u will see a fair number of bikinis |
i actually agree with ashiruabdu lol me i have remembered the daughters of who am i and im not gonna be wearing a bikini to the beach or the pool or anywhere that is not inside my father's gate. i mean i totally get how a lot of ppl raised here or even peeps who came over will not see anything wrong in wearing bikinis but i personally find it a bit off. (lol i've got a great body oh) so i guess the same goes for a lot of nigerian girls. added to what hot angel said they may be shy, but a lot of them also don't feel right wearing the bikini outside so they cover up. causing themselves to look one kin when everybody is half naked and enjoying sun. so i only do private beaches with my rich boyfriend from dubai ![]() |
lol raymand who are you stalking? this thread is going off topic |
