Politics / Re: Are Nigerians In Diaspora Really Inconsequential by gigitte(f): 3:03am On Dec 11, 2006
i truly believe that nigerians abroad myself included who dont know have any plans of returning to nigeria and improving the country are inconsequential.

so you send money home for your brother to do business, pay school fees yadda yadda yadda, so tht he can be successful and later maybe him and/or his kids will emigrate from nigeria, how does that help the country in the long run.

ppl should just admit that they dont have enough spirit to tough it out like the nigerians in nigeria, they work overseas and come and retire to a nice three level house in lekki or ikoyi, they think they have done their part by raising nigerian americans and such to add to the west's wealth and by giving money for their village improvement fund.
Romance / Re: Why Are Niaja Guys Getting Married To Girls From Sierra Leone? by gigitte(f): 7:46am On Dec 10, 2006
@zulunation,

sierra leone was one of the two countries designated for the return of freed slaves. since a lot of slaves came from naija, some would remember that they were yoruba and keep naming their kids that.

a lot of slaves did remember where they came from and returned to that place e.g saros and agudas, some did and didnt come back and some did not remember

also his family may have migrated from naija a while back
Travel / Re: ADC Plane Crash In Abuja by gigitte(f): 3:09am On Oct 31, 2006
hmm borishade had said it was partially based on pilot error, that the air control tower told the pilot to chill. they have records of these things (knowing naija then again maybe they dont), they will have air controllers advising them to chillax and wait for the weather to clear on record. it is a piece of advice and not a command because the captain of the aircraft has the final say,, it was the pilot who decided to go ahead and take off, purportedly saying God is in control,, then again i also heard reports of bigmanism on the flight, ppl pressuring the pilot to take off, i dont know how true it is but dead men dont talk, but the black boxes have been found and we have air controller reports, not to mention other planes that were meant to take off at around the same time but did not due to bad weather.

if you something about planes you will know that lightning and clouds are some of its worst enemies. the plane could have taken off and be struck by lightning or perhaps run into a cloud (not all clouds are like cotton candy, some are like olumo rock) and then came down. what remains to be seen is was the pilot justified in ignoring advice from the control tower? and what did the old age and maintenance or lack of of the plane contribute to the crash

i myself on two occasions, one in naija and the other coming in from london, where bad weather prevented us from landing, on both occasions imagine the bad weather wasnt even so bad as to elicit commentary from ppl on ground, all they said was it was light rain with electrical lightning, but yet we did not land.

gross mismanagement of everything is at play here, potholes and cows on international runways, radars that take a break on weekends, runway lights that are offf on weekends, osanobua!

nigerians too much believe in this whole 'in sha Allah/God is in control'

@LORDIMAQ

lol who told you that every one who smokes weed or does coke is overpowered by it or is in bondage to it?
ever heard of morphine, novocain and medical marijuana?
ever of valium and lexotan?
drinking alcohol nko
i wonder if those ones too are sins

as you rightly said, anything that will overpowered or cause to be in bondage taht you exclude christ is a sin, for a lot of ppl that thing is coke adn weed because they dont know how to control it and for some ppl it is porn, women, coffee whatever. the thing that makes weed or even coke and nicotine so bad and dangerous is that it is VERY HABIT FORMING that is why you are advised to stay away from it.

let me give you an analog. is it a sin to live with your bf? nope it aint esp if you guys are doing it to save money, but why is it frowned upon? because y'all are in an occasion of sin nd will be tempted sorely to have sex, and moreover you will start doing husband and wife before it is necessary. the temptation to have sex is greater than say the temptation to have sex with a male roomie that isnt your bf. in the same doing weed or coke can be said to be an occasion of sin, because the temptation to abuse it and become addicted is so high and then you let it replace God in your life. the tempation to become addicted or the risk is far less than if you were taking novocain which is a close cousin of cocaine but is FDA approved.

there is a diff. and i still stand by doing weed and coke isnt a sin.

@4get_me

oh bebe if you and your friend want to toast me, i suggest you open another thread for that or look me up online. as for all these arguments, i don tire. im not interested in convincing you to join the catholic church as you well know, i personally dont think everybody can handle, there is a lot to swallow and it takes a whole lotta faith.

about weed and cocaine. i personally dont think its a sin to do it. the fact is that if you do it in small quantities to relax yaself or ease your pain, aint nothing wrong with that. lol all that novocain and medicinal marijuana and opium and morphine that doctors be writing u prescriptions for, nko? dont let them deceive you oh. just like i dont think drinking or smoking is a sin, but hey its not like i do it, so dont worry ya self.
Religion / Re: Bleeding Statue Of Jesus At Warri! by gigitte(f): 1:33am On Sep 22, 2006
1. i meant the pope is the head of the church in the way a pastor is the head of a pentecostal church. i didnt mean to imply that he takes the place of christ. so i hope that piece of confusion is clarified.

2. as for traditions, those are traditions of men, the traditions im talking about are those of the church. those bible verses apply to upholding your traditions over what the bible says when both are in conflict. if they are not in conflict, i dont really see the argument there

3. who told you that cocaine and weed defile the temple that is the body? in excess they will affect your function, this is true for absolutely everything. so is it a sin to smoke weed once in a blue moon now? psshw

4. Jesus christ in the sense that he is the only way to salvation is not the same as an intercessor.

5. wow if you say dead ppl are nothing, then why are you a christian, you obviously do not share in the belief of eternal life or life after death. i am sorry for you.

the fact is you have no monopoly of interpretation of the scriptures, lol you are no-one to tell my interpretation of the scriptures is right or wrong. sha sha this is the end of my contributions to this topic.
Religion / Re: Bleeding Statue Of Jesus At Warri! by gigitte(f): 3:01am On Sep 21, 2006
@KDK
well even if ML didnt take it out, what gave him teh right to say they are not equal to the other holy books.
im roman catholic so? i'm also a christian and catholicism is more than a religion, it is a way of life. are u saying im not a christian? shio. take it or leave. there is more than one rite in the catholic church like the eastern churches with its patriarch. the roman catholic church is simply that because it considers the pope as its head and not all rites do so.
who are tyndale and so on that they should take the apocrypha out.
as far as i know the apocrypha was there, before unsrupulous persons starting shifting stuff around
as for martin luther and protestants i wont even go into that.

as for saints, show me where in the bible it says that just because someone is dead they cant pray for you. so you saying that a dead person is less than a live being, you my friend do not understand death then and what it means to be in teh presence of christ. does the bible say you should not do cocaine, or smoke weed. please jare lol. and the church doesnt subscribe to sola scriptura which im sure you know all about.

and the catholic church started from peter, whether or not you accept that, it is alright, peter is still the first pope.
if you didnt know, other catholic rites (with the except of some wowo suspect ones) are in communion with the church. i suggest you take a look at wikipedia

i continue in my study of the catchesims of the church and its history but im not going anywhere anytime soon.
augustine was a great father of the church.
do you know who thomas more is? im sure you do. if such a person could go to such lenghts for a trivial thing like divorce, then i can go to greater lengths for serious theological issues. besides canon is church law. there is nothing forcing anyone to ask saints to intercede for them, it aint by force. dont rain my parade if i choose to do so.
Religion / Re: Bleeding Statue Of Jesus At Warri! by gigitte(f): 6:44pm On Sep 20, 2006
i love being catholic. it is not perfect, far from it because it is a human institution, but me i have been around in terms of other churches and denominations, if you think i will rot in hell, that one nah your own business.
Religion / Re: Bleeding Statue Of Jesus At Warri! by gigitte(f): 6:43pm On Sep 20, 2006
ugonna please dont mind him jare
some ppl have refused to listen or to understand.
imagine someone saying that saints in heaven or mary cannot hear you? is it because they are dead? if you know anything you will know that death is simply a transition, death is the beginning adn not the end.
as for all this jesus being the sole mediator and the only way unto God, that is true yes. i believe that verse meant salvation is only from God through Jesus, also through true relationship with God is soley through jesus. i don't any catholics that ask for salvation from mary or saints. this is not analogus to honoring mary and the saints and asking them to intercede for you. this is analogus to asking your friends or prayer warriors to pray for you. is it because they are in heaven? remember the bible says death has no power over you.

what about your guardian angels and that prayer. as for mary being the mother of God. noone is suggesting God slept with mary, but she did conceive by the Holy Spirit, who is one with God the father adn God the son through the trinity. so if she is the mother of jesus how can she not be the mother of God.

that is somewhat like looking a big man and saying he could not have a mother because he is so big and powerful, is the big man not the same as the small boy that was nurtured by a mother, as the infant that was borne of her womb. anyway the analogy is not perfect because JC did not grow up to become God, but i hope you get my point

the fact is the only thing that matters is in your heart. even though you are not meant to pray to mary in the sense that you should not equate her with God, some ppl still do those ppl are practicing idolatry and that is bad, but that is not the official teaching of the church. the church should not be blamed from ppl deviating from its catchecism. that is like saying that christianity is bad because christians fornicate. sure a lot of christians fornicate, but is that what christianity teaches us? no, its say fornication is a sin, but ppl go ahead and do it. it is also like saying that a man who looks at a beautiful woman is lusting after her. that is for the man who is looking, he knows if he is lusting or merely appreciating. you on the outside can only speculate. so it is in the heart of catholics to know if they are simply honoring mary or practicing mariolatry but the fact remains that the catechism of the church says nothing about worshipping only honoring and asking for intercessions.

as for the bible, those books were picked by the church to be in the bible. and doesnt it say who so ever adds or subtracts from the bible will be in big yawa? what about martin luther and co that threw out the apocrypha, i wonder if they are in yawa now.
who translated the bible for you, tyndale and co and risked their lives so you can read what your reading now/ was it not them monks and co. so all these splitting hairs your doing is just nonsensical, because if they wanted they could rewritten all these your passages of evidence. furthermore, have you studied hebrew to know that your translation actually means what it means.

how do you know that only in hebrew means the same thing as only in english. that is a huge problem here, ppl just spin arguments based on a secondary language. that is really faulty. i was reading sophocles' antigone which was originally in greek and then made an argument based on its translation into english and it turns out i was wrong because my argument was based on a construct with had meaning in english but none in greek.

obviously somebody will come and refute all i have said
as for the catholic church and jews. they apologised, did john mark not also cut off somebody's ear and jesus corrected him, what about the little children that were making fun of a prophet and he sent hailstones after him. what about the siblings of moses who were evil towards him and his wife? ppl make mistakes, it does not diminish their message, no one is perfect or above God, even peter denied jesus. but we have apologised and we are moving on.

but really was the church the onlly demoniation around during the holocaust? i havent seen other churches in germany that openly accepted jews, all i hear is blah blah blah
Business / Re: Shipping A Motorbike To Eastern Nigeria by gigitte(f): 6:16pm On Sep 20, 2006
i think you should ship it PH, closer and likely less crowed. you would have to scale thru customs, but go and collect ur thingy sam sam or else you may only find the chrome plates of your motor bike left.

courier would be really xpensive oh
Religion / Re: Bleeding Statue Of Jesus At Warri! by gigitte(f): 6:52pm On Sep 17, 2006
warri is not the first place where weeeping statues have been found, so your saying sthat nigerians are too superstitious is void. as for blood money and bazaars and weeping statues that is superstition right there, stupid one at that.

please go to wikipedia and search for weeping statues, this thread is really annoying
