bidexiii: 1.8k IFV is not much at all, when NA was at its best we've managed more than than number well. Currently we are managing over 1000 serviceable oldies.
If we are buying over 1.8k IFV, we are up to the task. We simply send personnel to be trained abroad, increase the army intake to sustain what you have on ground , make sure there is an outfit facility where the hardware can be maintained and serviced and lastly availability of spare parts, if possible if they can be produced locally has the NAF his currently building on.
The thing his we Nigerians are intelligent ; we know what to be done and how to go about it, only corruption has taken over our system.
u are up to the task? and the Vickers,4K7FA,troop transporters, artillery ,war ships, helicopters, jets etc were for 20+years were unserviceable.
the annoying part of ur all is if u go round Nigeria military barracks u will see tons of decaying hardwares
MrRitchie: I was preparing for work this morning when my elder bro sent this (paper) to me via email.
I once heard if you want to marry a girl from the east you'll have to pay extra $€£¥
Ok, back to the matter, my bro is preparing for his traditional wedding anytime soon.
Below is the list of things they ask him to buy, after I was done with the calculations and all, I got a total of close to #500,000 just to buy things listed in the list.
Mind you the list doesn't include food, drinks, canopies, chairs just to name a few that will be used in the event.
homerac7: Nigerian Army needs to overhaul her inventory of equipment. We shouldbe talking of
1. minimum of 400-600 T72 tanks with latest fire control, night vision , active and reactive armour upgrades
2. Minimum of 150 T90 tanks with same spec as above.
3. Min of 1,800 mix of AFVs (tracked and wheeled), light tanks, recovery vehicles, and bridge layers
4. 600-800 MRAPs in mixed configurations
5. New towed and and wheeled artillery guns in different calibers mix
6. Conversion of chasses of T52s and Vickers to mobile SAM launchers, radar and recce vehicles
7. Start domestic production of reverse engineered SS missiles, SAMs, high caliber mortars
So all your 40-80 MBTs is going to just be for a reserve division. Analysis of mid term threats within and around us requires us to up our game. Their is good chance that another threat might grow along our NW boarder. That place has very close proximity to Mali - Chad cauldron. We need to be ready before things get too hot there. If it does, we might need to manage it alongside NE as NE wahala isn't going away soonest.
750 tanks n 1.8k Ifv?. this will be a logistics n service nightmare just hope our army is up to d task
bidexiii: Now answer my question ; BHT is a war which you av to see ur self it's not just the conventional war fare we all know but it's a WAR going on. What numbers of MBT and IFV/AFV does the NA needs.....
well for me I still maintain my position 80 T72 n 40 T90. den we can convert our Vickers to heavy IFV .
bidexiii: Of course they bought all those hardware and we where not arguing that including 6units of the bozena mine sweeper that arrived late.
But has I said earlier most of these hard ware where junks and over prised.
What we are saying is the mode of Operation ranging from troops welfare, node of Operation on the theatre/field & logistic, more professionalism not those days Nigeria army took to there heals and abandon there equipment, we are seeing much a professional army we could be proud of....
Now answer my question ; BHT is a war which you av to see ur self it's not just the conventional war fare we all know but it's a WAR going on. What numbers of MBT and IFV/AFV does the NA needs.....
well truly all d hardware bought by d past admin are junk, but were used to halt and beat back d BHT advance. u call dem junk n still d present govt had still not gotten a genuine hardware.
bidexiii: Watch these videos ur self and please envisage the numbers of MBT, IFV/AFV will be needed to properly prosecute the N.E war and for the entire army itself.
dis is propaganda in its highest level,I bet its was also d present govt that bought d heavy duty vehicles, d unmanned demining vehicles. pls go look for novices and feed dem dis.
QSFemi: I am not a big fan of testimony but I just feel my confession here can encourage at least one person out there. Earlier this year, I got a job but lost it after one month in February. Got another one in april but also lost it in may. Being jobless ever since then. But by the grace of God got another one yesterday with a six figure salary an an official car...I thank God
thank for ur life.
am also searching for a job pls kindly remember me , please
bidexiii: Many people can tell you are the joker here.
In Borno and yobe we have over 150 units of t72 and vickers MBT,some not really in good condition because they are being stretched out. And who told you we don't have maintenance culture with the corruption in our military tell me how many countries still have vickers MBT and Scorpion tank in good serviceable conditions. Come to yaba, ikeja, ojo in ibadan and Bauchi you will see vickers light tank in hangers that are in good condition but they are not fit for CION.
We have a maintenance outfit in Bauchi State, of recent vickers bridge layers, engineers recovery track vehicle where displaced and the COAS confirmed that some MBTs, and military vehicles are brought back to life and these are junks from 70's & 80's and yet we still manage to keep them alive. Don't forget factors like spare parts that are not readily available because most of these hard ware are not being manufactured again.
Ugandan would still be proud owners of over 100 units of t90 and yet we are far better than them in everything. You claim is too expensive to buy when troops are dying daily.
Henry has said it all there is way to go about it only we don't av good leaders and the will ....!
pls just answer my question how many Vickers tanks do we have.
don't forget we only have 16 T72 tanks and as far as I know d T72 are unreliable
Henry240: 1 billion dollars is small money, it's because our governments have proven to be utterly hopeless and useless over the years, that's why it seems like "small money", seems big.
Spread 1 billion dollars over 5 years, tell me again that we can't afford that?
What we need is 250 T-90s, then we completely retire all our old Tanks. Add 150 - 170 units of IFV. We buy IFVs from South-Africa, a plan that should include local build of 60% of the units. Again, you spread the cost.
bidexiii: Seriously.......you make me crack by ribs
In the north east theatre only we have over 150 deployed MBT consisting of vickers,t72 and other forms of light wheeled and tracked tanks.
Countries that are not up to Nigeria military and economy are buying t72s in large quantity, Uganda will soon boast of over 100units of t90s you are there saying 40+80 units of t90 & t72s is enough, are you only buying to fight BHT or for future eventuality. You are here on these thread and others and yet you say such words.
Such procurement means we aren't learnt from our past mistakes and these is what is affecting us seriously are procurement power is very disappointing.
And who told you UK MBT is not up to that amount, why must you compare yourself with UK. His UK fighting a war, does UK has the same population and land area as Nigeria. Mate that's a wrong comparison/yard stick to compare with.
And I tell you we can afford it.
I think u are d joker. u are buying in large number for d future? last I checked my don't have good maintenance culture,
if I may ask how many of d Vickers do we have in serviceable conditions. or let me ask how many of our hardwares are in serviceable conditions. minus d hilux
overhypedsteve: we will never realize that. Nigeria will continue to look on the west as a long standing ally not just for Military and security reasons but basically for economic reasons. Take it or leave it it is cheaper and easier for Nigeria to buy from the west than from the east, such an exchange could be done leveraging on the transfer of a specified amount of natural resource or granting of concession in the oil industry we may end up not paying in cash for things we buy from the west or not even paying at all. But for the east it is a different story. Russia has it own oil, and other natural resources. Some will say didn't we buy weapons from them during the civil war? Well during the civil we Russia was in a search of cold war relevance in Nigeria that was why she intervened. Nigeria paid for arms procured from Russia using Cocoa, Peanuts, Palm nuts, rubber and other raw materials which Russia (already self sufficient on this products) would then ship to other European countries and sell. After the war there was a new chance for Nigerian eastern relations but it never happened, simply because Nigeria and Russia could not find any bases for bilateral trade. Nigeria was not a serious weapon importing nation so Arms could not be the basis, they tried tech transfer and built a steel complex the Russians saw that Nigeria was also not yet ready for some kind of technology due to her overdependence on the west. Several high level bilateral trade delegations were exchanged between Nigeria and Russia to find a bases for trade but in the end Nigeria ended up in the lap of the west. The Russians later realised that Nigerians preferred luxury to longterm success hence the plan by Russia to transfer automobile manufacturing tech to Nigeria failed because Nigerians preferred to drive the luxurious European cars instead of those from newly developing industries. In conclusion Russian-Nigerian relations have always been a sad story.
Henry240: Well, that's the end of our Super Tucano daydream. According to the US we are the world's worst human abusers. Worse than both the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Colombia, Angola...... Pretty much worse than the devil.
Italy, China and Russia have always been our best bet, while we continue to strive on how to build a military industrial complex.
my brother its time we as a nation give the west some space.
their are not our friend just hope the Nigerian leaders realizes that b4 its too late
Henry240: With the Americans, there was always no use, however the reason why i favour the Super-Tucano, possibly also the same reason the Air Force favours the aircraft is because they are cheap, very cheap to run. Cheaper than helicopters.
pls don't forget it can carry more payload, its also faster than a chopper. and also more loitering time in air.
