Popular American rapper, Cardi B, has reacted to the nationwide slow down of activities in the US due to coronavirus.

The rapper took to Instagram Live to point out that she was bored and needs to dress up and go out.

Cardi also pointed out that this was not how she expected 2020 to turn out.

In her Live feed, she also pointed out that the coronavirus is God’s plan to show us (humans) how powerful he is over us.

Nollywood actor, Zubby Michael has slammed the organizers of the AMVCA over an alleged snub of “pillars of Nollywood”.

Zubby went on to claim that most organizers of the award are Yoruba and described the snub as a “joke and highly political”.

Nigeria has confirmed a third case of the contagious Coronavirus (COVID-19) disease.

The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) shared the following in a tweet:

The Hon. Minister, Osagie Ehanire, has announced the 3rd case of #COVID19 in Nigeria. The case is a Nigerian who returned to Lagos from the UK and developed symptoms during her 14-day self-isolation. She is clinically stable and is being treated at the Infectious Disease Hospital, Lagos.”

However, the Lagos State Health Ministry says this new case is independent of the index case.

The 30-year-old Nigerian female returned from the UK on March 13, observed self-isolation, developed symptoms, tested positive and is now receiving care.

RECENT UPDATE:

Nigeria has confirmed the second case of coronavirus in the country over one week after the first case.

The Minister of Health, Osagie Ehanire, made the disclosure during a press conference on Monday, March 9, 2020. However, the second case has been resolved as the person diseased have been tested negative and free from the virus.

Ifedayo Olarinde popularly known as Daddy Freeze is set to leave Cool FM after a laudable twenty years with the radio station.

Daddy Freeze joined Cool FM in 2001 where he hosted several shows.

He took to his Instagram page on Wednesday, March 11, 2020, where he announced the latest development via a video.

Hi, guys, I’m Daddy Freeze convener of the free sheepers movement and leader of a free nation in Christ, I greet you and bring good tidings. How are you all doing? Cool FM my beautiful radio station, I have been with them for the better part of twenty years.

I joined them when Cool FM was just three years old and the time has come for me to say goodbye. I’m not saying goodbye to radio because radio is still a big part and parcel of me and its something I can into my eighties.

DJ Timmy exposed that he had to buy a car worth 11 million Naira and that he also rented an apartment worth 2.5 million naira for the sake of working with Yung6ix.

On March 9, 2020, Timmy took to his Twitter account to express his feelings.
“You don’t know what transpired between yung6ix and I and you have the guts to say “Na pride de do them” I fell into depression. Nigeria has confirmed a second case of coronavirus in the country over one week after the first case.

The Minister of Health, Osagie Ehanire, made the disclosure during a press conference on Monday, March 9, 2020.



A total of 60 people had been quarantined in Lagos and Ogun states after an Italian businessman was diagnosed with the virus after entering the country in late February.

The Minister said:

On 8th March 2020, scientists confirmed the presence of coronavirus in one of the contacts. It is my duty, therefore, to announce a new case of coronavirus disease (COVID-19) in Nigeria

The minister noted that the new patient, an Ogun State contact of Italian, has ‘no significant clinical symptoms’.

The patient has now been placed in isolation and under clinical follow-up and in care at Infectious Disease Hospital, Lagos.

All other contacts of the Italian in Ogun and Lagos will remain in isolation and testing will be carried out on those not yet tested, including some in other states.

Over 110,000 people have been infected with the coronavirus worldwide since the first case was detected in Wuhan, China in December 2019.

Nearly 4000 people have been killed by the virus which has spread to over 100 countries across the world. Over 66,000 infected people have also recovered from the virus.

Africa’s most populous nation Nigeria has recorded its first case of the deadly coronavirus disease

In a statement released by the Nigeria Center for Disease Control (NCDC), the Honourable Minister of Health Osagie Ehanire, announced a confirmed coronavirus (COVID-19) case in Lagos State.

“The case, which was confirmed on the 27th of February, 2020, is the first case to be reported in Nigeria since the beginning of the outbreak in China in January 2020.

“We assure all Nigerians that measures are in place to respond appropriately.

“We are working with the Lagos Ministry of Health to identify contacts and initiate response accordingly.

“The patient is clinically stable and is being managed at the Infectious Disease Hospital, Yaba.”

Lagos State government reacts
Commissioner for Health in Lagos, Prof Akin Abayomi, says: “The case is an Italian citizen who entered Nigeria on the 25th of February from Milan, Italy for a brief business visit. He fell ill on the 26th February and was transferred to Lagos State Biosecurity Facilities for isolation and testing.

“COVID-19 infection was confirmed by the Virology Laboratory of the Lagos University Teaching Hospital, part of the Laboratory Network of the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control. The patient is clinically stable, with no serious symptoms, and is being managed at the Infectious Disease Hospital in Yaba, Lagos.

“The government of Lagos State under the Governor as the COVID-19 Incident Commander, through the Lagos State Ministry of Health, has been strengthening measures to ensure that any outbreak in Lagos is controlled and contained quickly in collaboration with the multi-sectoral Coronavirus Preparedness Group, led by the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC).

“We have immediately activated the State Emergency Operations Centre to respond to this case and implement firm control measures.

“I wish to assure all Lagosians and Nigerians that we have been strengthening our preparedness since the first confirmation of cases in China. We will use all the resources made available by the state and the federal government to respond to this case.

“We are working to identify all the contacts of the patient since he arrived in Nigeria. Please, be reminded that most people who become infected may experience only a mild illness and recover easily, but it can be more severe in others, particularly the elderly and persons with other underlying chronic illnesses.

“All Lagosians should take care of their health and maintain hand and respiratory hygiene to protect themselves and others, including their own families, following the precautions below:

3. People coughing persistently or sneezing should stay indoors or keep a social distance, but not mix with a crowd.

4. Ensure that you and people around you follow good respiratory hygiene by covering mouths and noses with a handkerchief or tissue while sneezing or coughing. You can also sneeze or cough into your sleeve at the bent elbow.Then dispose of the used tissue immediately.

6. Stay informed on the latest developments about COVID-19 through official channels on TV and Radio, the Social Media, including the Lagos State Ministry of Health, NCDC and Federal Ministry of Health.

“Citizens must not abuse social media and indulge in spreading misinformation that causes fear and panic. The Lagos State Ministry of Health, in collaboration with Nigeria Centre for Disease Control, will continue to provide updates and will initiate all measures required to prevent the spread of any outbreak in Lagos.”
