The EFCC, Ibadan zonal office, has arrested two blood brother for extorting internet fraudsters with promises to shield them from possible arrest by the Commission. .

The siblings – Olatunji Joe Beyioku (35) and Oluwayomi Beyioku (37) - were arrested in Abeokuta, Ogun State, on Friday, November 15, 2019, during a sting operation.

EFCC operatives had embarked on discreet investigations into the activities of the suspects when it was discovered that they are in the habit of the extorting ‘Yahoo Boys’ to help them evade arrest by the EFCC. .

According to EFCC Statement, the suspects claimed to be spy police officers with the rank of Deputy Superintendent of Police, DSP, and have ‘assisted’ the Commission with information on the whereabouts of internet fraudsters within the town, but it was discovered that they only expose those who failed to meet their demand, while others willing and ready to play ball are shielded.

It was also discovered that they have made several million of naira sabotaging the Commission’s efforts and live large therefrom.

A search conducted on the younger brother’s palatial residence along Lagos-Abeokuta Expressway suggested that they may be living far above their means. .

Items found in the multi-million naira building also raised suspicion of the brothers’ possible involvement in other forms of criminal activities.

Items recovered from them include two cars, Honda Accord Crosstour and a Mercedes Benz GLK, different brands of mobile phones and charms.

A Nigerian police officer was killed in an accident just few weeks to his wedding.

According to a friend, Nwachukwu Nnenna, the deceased was set to wed on December 15th, 2019.

President of Christian Association of Nigeria, CAN, Revd Samson Ayokunle, on Thursday advised Pastor Biodun Fatoyinbo, Founder of the Commonwealth of Zion Assembly (COZA), and Busola, wife of popular soul singer Timi Dakolo, to forgive each other and reconcile following the dismissal of the rape case involving them by a Federal Capital Territory High Court.

Busola had accused Fatoyinbo of raping her in 2002, sued and demanded the pastor paid her the sum of N10,000,000 compensation.

But the Court, in a ruling by Justice O. A Musa, exonerated Fatoyinbo, and also fined the plaintiff, the cost of N1,000,000.

Justice Musa held that the matter amounted to injustice, sentimental, empty and an abuse of judicial process, adding that it could have been ten times more but that it was lenient considering the fact that some victims with legitimate claims might approach the court in the future.

Reacting to the ruling, Pastor Fatoyinbo, in a statement signed by his Senior Executive Assistant, Pastor Ademola Adetuberu, dedicated his victory in Court to the Church.

He said:

“The victory is of the Lord. We dedicate it to those who stand by us. The victory belongs to God, not to me or COZA. We will not share in His glory. The enemies are after the Church and not after me per se.

“They only used me as a scapegoat to launch the attacks. We know that faithful is He who has called us. I salute the courage and the support of my beautiful and godly wife, my lovely children, members of COZA family and those who stand by us.

“May God be praised in your life. I bear no grudge against those who were used by the adversary of the Church but instead, I pray for them that we should come together to fight the common enemies of the Church.

“My soul goes to men who are wrongly accused and women who are or have been abused. May God heal the wounds of every one of us.”

Speaking on behalf of the CAN President, his media aide, Pastor Bayo Oladeji, said in a telephone interview with Vanguard: “While we note that the image of the Nigerian Church and its leadership was dented before and during the court proceedings, CAN urges Pastor Fatoyinbo and Mrs Dakolo, to put away all that has transpired and reconcile.

“The Church preaches forgiveness and reconciliation, and that is our position as the umbrella body of Christians in the country.

“We begrudge neither Pastor Fatoyinbo nor Busola Dakolo, and urge them to extend a similar hand of love and fellowship to each other.”

Justice Archibong Archibong of the Akwa Ibom state High court has ordered a councillor in Ibiono Ibom Local Government Area of the state, Usuak Nseobot, to be remanded in prison for allegedly assaulting a woman, Iniubong Essien, and stripping her naked.

Nseobot was arraigned in court for allegedly kidnapping, assaulting, and publicly stripping the woman Essien, who he had accused of stealing some naira notes that was sprayed on him and his wife, Aniedi, at their wedding.

At the hearing of the case today November 14th, the judge ordered that Mr Nseobot be remanded in prison, after the councillor pleaded not guilty to the charges filed against him by the police.

Iniubong had previously told journalists that she assisted the Nseobots in cooking their wedding food but denied being the person that picked the money at the wedding. She was reportedly abducted from her home in Uyo in November 2018, driven to a village in Ibiono (about 27 kilometres) and paraded before a village hall around 10 a.m.

“I was beaten and forced to walk stark naked in the village hall, they removed my dress, my bra, and my pant, Ms Essien, who is over 40 told Premium Times.

“People were inside the village hall, I think he (the councillor) may have told them that he was bringing a thief for them to beat, so the whole place was filled with people.

“He was mixing charcoal with pepper to rub on my body, but he didn’t rub (it) on me. They tied a rope around my waist and said I must dance naked before the village people.” she said

Iniubong who was in court today, said she is happy with the decision of the judge to sent Nseobot to prison.

“I am so happy with what has happened.” she said

This is coming two months after the artiste said he won’t be performing in South Africa due to recent spate of xenophobic violence in the country.

New revelations have emerged on the death of Tam David-West, a former Nigerian minister.

According to Punch Metro, for 11days, former Minister of Petroleum and Energy, Prof Tam David-West, was admitted to a private suite of the University College Hospital Ibadan.

The Public Relations Officer of the UCH, Mr. Toye Akinrinlola, told PUNCH that the former minister, however, died on Monday morning at 11:05.

Asked further details, Akinrinlola simply said, “He was brought here over a week ago and admitted to a private suite.

”He died at 11:05am,” Akinrinlola added.

A family member who escorted the deceased to the hospital but preferred anonymity said, “We took Baba to UCH precisely 11days ago.

“The deceased had spent 11 days at the UCH before he breathed his last. He was rushed to the UCH when he fell sick.

“His children are already on their way to Ibadan,” he said.
