Several months after the delay in the issuance of passports, the Minister of Interior, Rauf Aregbesola, on Saturday said the Nigeria Immigration Service was working to ensure all outstanding passport applications were issued by May 31. He also said that from June 1, passports would be issued within six weeks, explaining that the COVID-19 pandemic affected the issuance of passports in the country. He, however, said the government had launched the electronic temporary passport to ease the burden on Nigerians. The Nigerian Government on Thursday received a stolen Ile-Ife artefact from Mexico. The police in Lagos state have arrested one Chukwuma Njoku, for allegedly stabbing his brother, Uchenna Njoku, a businessman, to death during an argument over N3,000 debt at the deceased’s residence in the Odokekere area of Ikorodu North Local Council Development Area of Lagos State. According to reports, Chukwu had paid his older brother a visit last Friday April 2. During the visit, the deceased asked his brother to pay the N3,000 he owed him. However, this degenerated into an argument and later into a serious fight. Pleas from the pregnant wife of the deceased for them to stop fighting, fell on deaf ears. A Nigerian woman, Nsikak Effiong from Akwa Ibom has revealed that she tasted cornflakes for the first time when she entered university as her parents didn't know about cereals. Nsikak, who disclosed this on Facebook on Tuesda, also narrated how she was mocked back then for not having nice clothes, shoes and fixing synthetic weavons. She also encouraged her followers stating that ''what we do not have now, we will definitely have it tomorrow'' "I first ate cornflakes in the University. Of course, I knew what cornflakes and goldenmorn was but I didn't eat it. My parents really didn't know it. We had food always at home and that was the most important which I'm ever so grateful for.. A thief, identified as Agyasuo, got trapped inside a church he tried to rob. Agyasuo burgled a Catholic Church building in Techimantia, Tano South, Ghana. With a chisel and hammer, he created a hole inside the ground floor of the locked storey building. Residents saw him making the hole but chose to wait and watch. After making the hole, he climbed in and stole some money from the church. He is also said to have stolen mobile devices. Unfortunately for him, he couldn't sneak back out and residents alerted the caretaker of the building after he had been there for a while. The caretaker opened the door and found the suspect trapped inside the hole. As he begged to be let out, residents collected the offering money he stole first, while quizzing him. He was also reportedly caught with a bag containing packed phones, computer and accessories he had gathered from the church. There was a huge scare at Atletico Madrid training on Tuesday evening, March 23 when French striker Moussa Dembele fainted and appeared to lose consciousness during a training session. The former Lyon striker was filmed stretching out his hamstrings before collapsing to the ground and lying motionless on the pitch. Dembele’s team-mates quickly assisted the striker before calling for the help of Atletico's medical staff for urgent medical attention. Members of the medical team spent several minutes trying to resuscitate the player, while his teammate ran to the pitch-side ambulance to get a stretcher. The 24-year-old later regained consciousness after being turned on his side and was able to leave the pitch unassisted. Cattle and Foodstuff dealers under the aegis of Amalgamated Union of Foodstuff and Cattle Dealers of Nigeria (AUFCDN), will today commence a nationwide strike following the expiration of a seven-day ultimatum given to the federal government to attend to their demands. AUFCDN, an affiliate of Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC) had on Sunday at a press briefing said the union was demanding protection of its members, payment of N475 billion compensation for lives of members and properties lost during the #EndSARS protest and Shasa market chaos. The union also demanded that the government should order dismantling of all road blocks on federal highways due to problems its members get subjected to when carrying out their duties.
