o42austino: the only thing that will ever make naira increase is earnings from export and both of us know it will take many many years, what the president should have done is to help the export economy in his first term and grow it, in the second term then he can introduce this policy, all former presidents are not stupid by avoiding this because the masses will suffer greatly. This is a policy whose time is not now, the naira will collapse and their is no export market(apart from crude which is our main earner )to revive it. You've assumed that export isn't the only thing that grows inflow Also, you've assumed that you can grow exports in 4 years to meet your funding gap Without power and security, and other infrastructure, how do you want to grow exports and attract inflows? How long will all these take, out of four years? |

obi2eze: Big lie. This policy is a bad one. Nigerian economy is import-based so there will be more demand for foreign currency. You guys have been running this deceptive propaganda to delude the gullible. Naira will never appreciate with this useless policy. IMPACT OF REMOVAL OF FUEL SUBSIDY AND SINGLE EXCHANGE RATE ON THE ECONOMY Inflation! Pump price of PMS will have to adjust again, to around $1.00. Wages must go up! On the external side, non oil exporters will be encouraged to export at competitive exchange rates and those who want to invest in Nigeria will also the able to do so at competitive rates. This means that non-oil dollar inflows will improve significantly. These inflows should help clear the backlogs on services and factor payments (dividends, due to airlines etc). Government finances will improve. Revenue goes up (from subsidy removal and higher exchange rates) but FGN deficit will still be 6-8 trillion Naira. How will FGN finance this? By borrowing from the domestic financial markets. On the monetary side, this means interest rates will rise. Where will the one year yield on FGN T-bills settle? Somewhere between the long term rate of inflation of 13% and the short term rate of 22%. Because all these price corrections are taking place at the same time, inflation will rise sharply. However, over the next year, it should drop sharply due to the base effect and as the markets reward these policies. Growth and employment will improve but not immediately. If the policies are complemented with improved power and we’re able to transport goods by rail, then we can unleash high growth rates. Businesses will finally breathe. They will be able to source FX to fund their businesses, power their factories at competitive rates and reduce their logistics costs. Government now benefits from higher tax revenues. Even IMF must be scared at the rate at which Nigeria is implementing positive reforms. I expect our ratings to improve. - Bode Agusto |

That is good news.
I do hope they totally destroy those initial proposals by Tinubu to recruit 50 millions youths into the army and feed them agbado. When did Obi say this? Obi that supported the currency confiscation programme? |

While I cannot say who will replace Tinubu as president ( Even though I know the name) I want to say it again that President Tinubu was not in the presidential election picture in the divine realm. He's an usurper.
Although I was laughed to scorn the last time I posted about President Tinubu's usurping power, I will repeat it again, and again for the records until it comes to pass. For the vision is for an appointment time, and it shall Surely come true at the fullness of time.
I saw it not once, but 3 times. First time was before Tinubu revealed his running mate. And last time was before his inauguration.
Tinubu's Presidency is a placeholder regim.

Ofunaofu: Global, there's no reason to this quarrel
I am here to learn. If my submissions are not correct, counter with facts
The thread I created has to do the constitutionality of the suspension nothing more nothing less
Elections are over and when the election is over, governance begins. This is where we are at the moment. They have deftly avoided the pitfalls of the law by not removing him but by suspending him. Suspension means he could be returned. Removal means he's gone for good Sanusi had wanted to test this in law after his suspension by Jonathan. He filed a case but removed it after he became the emir. |

shortgun: The suspension of The CBN governor by Tinubu is nothing but rascality and an affront on the Nigerian state.
There's no where in the CBN act was the word "suspension" used, the only acceptable means by which a president can remove a CBN governor is only after securing 2/3 votes of the senate in support of the removal.
Anything other than that is nothing but illegality, rascality and invitation to anachy.
I didn't expect Tinubu the criminal drug baron and his gang of mandate thieves to know anything about due process or the rule of law. Go and defend him It should be easy to do. Isn't it? |
