Ileke-IdI: Right on. The system is rigged against women. Infact, the system reduces women to cash and carry commodities and then goes on to victimize and for their lowly stature in the same society . We should sympatize with women of Nigeria, they need our support and care. It has been empasized over and over again by the UN agencies that wherever women are economically empowered, poverty is reduced and progress can be seen. Even in Nigeria, areas where where there are greater oppression of women tend to suffer the most poverty. |

Do you ask what is done with the tithe money or you dont care? Since we know that it is not remitted to god in heaven, Who is the custodian or god's treasurer? Doe sthe pastor EVER give account of the amt collected and what he does with the money ? Those are the real questions. |

10% to God? ok, fine. OLAADEGBU:What is god's financial program? Taking money from innocent people and enriching yourself? What do you give back in return to the people whose pocket you pick from? But how do you remit the 10% to god?. What do you do with this 10%?. I can even understsnd if you give all of the tithe you collect to charity for the less previledged. Would that not be doing god's work? Can you pls explain? When did god ask you to collect on his behalf? When did he authorise you to avail yourself of this 10% and enrich your self and your family? How, in your god's name can you justify living on the sweat of others? Thieves thieves. All of those you that live like parasites, picking the pockets of your faithful. I doubt if you would be a pastor or whatever you call yourselves if there were no opportunities to steal . All of you that steal and parasite on the sweat of others, You people are the worst of the very worst. Surely there must be a special place in hell for all you parasites. omoalayo:What % of your income have you given to the needy all around you? And i know the needy are far too many. i 'm sure you know many that are needy, dont you? what % have u given to improve the lives of needy peole around you. You are the lazy Christian. You feel its much easier to bribe god than to meaningfully contribute to the welfare of his creations. Shame on all of you. |

And what about the disciple of whom it was written in the bible , "The disciple whom Jesus loved". Who was that unnamed person and what type of special love was that? And what about his rage and behaviour in the temple when he scattered the merchants in the temple?. Is rage and anger not a sin? I would love to hear your explanation. Thank you. |

frosbel:This is shocking to me. I agree with EVERYTHING you have just pointed out. Jesus preached truth but christianity is founded on lies. What is the forward for spiritual salvation considering that most of humanity(Abrahamic adherents) need guidance and handholding in their spiritual journey? How about alternative spiritual path like Buddhism. The teachings of Jesus, especially the Sermon on the mount, are akin to Buddist philosophies. Dont you agree? |

@neotic16: You are contradicting yourself so much on this thread. Earlier, you stated and i quote again" The holy spirit is the active spirit of god that dwells in the BELIEVER". BELIEVER being the key word here. You have repeated it again by saying that " many people (I assume, christians) experience god", Implying once more that the beliefe and experience of god is PURELY subjective. Right? WE both AGREE on these statements of yours and I'm happy for you that the holy spirit dwells in you and you experience god. There is nothing wrong with that. By the same token, you will agree with me too that a lot of people in the world, my self included, do not smoke that opium(sorry to use that word) and therefore are not subject to , and are free to deny the same indwelling holy spirit and godly experience as you do. Is anything wrong with that? Can you live with that? That sums up the ongoing Athiest-Thiest chasm that is going on this forum and in world. Is it not? What else are you trying to add. You seem to be running around in circles. 1 Like |

Deep Sight: C'mon Deepsight, Dreams are subjective and can be given any type interepretation. No two persons can have the same interpretations of the same dream.Your subjective experiences do not point to any thing other than what YOUR mind makes of them. Electromagnetic waves are beyond our observable physical senses, so are sub-atomic particles and many others that we are yet to even discover. SO? We built instruments to detect them. There are definitely many super structures about our realities we are yet to fully grasp. That is true. We are hearing theories of a multiverse(many layers universes on top of each other). Your obsession is how it started and who started it. The truth is that we dont know. Period. Anything else is just speculation and fantasy. Is it possible to picka point where infinite space started and where it ends? It is possible to pinpoint when time began and wher eit may end? |

Religion / Re: Why Christians/Muslims Get Offended By Atheists by globexl: 1:26am On Oct 03, 2011 |
I have known and worked with people of all faiths, from hindus to buddhist, shintoist, Confucionist, Taoist, Zoroasterist, etc. The christians are by far the most intolerant , insecure and most ingnorant of the very faith they profess. I have never been harassed by a muslim, a hindu, buddhist or members of any other religion for that matter. I get harassed everyday(even today) by christians to come and join their (Lonely?)religion. When I politely say no thanks , they probe for my reasons, when I give my reasons, all hell breaks loose. At the end of every encounter, I'm insulted and condemned to eternal hell fire. It is human nature to get frustrated and push back once in while. It is also human nature that when I see anyone in this forum or any other public forum lash out at athiests or agnostics, I would usually fireback in defence of my right to believe or not to believe all the religious scrap out there. Once stand up to defend my right, then i am called an evengelical athiest. |
Religion / Re: Medieval Catholic Indulgences Versus The Tithe Doctrine by globexl: 12:52am On Oct 03, 2011 |
Frosbel, for once we agree. But what is responsible for all this holy fraud? Is there something inherently faudulent about christianity? Why is it so easy to decieve people with god? Does it have to with the fact that people dont see god, dont hear god, dont feel god ,but always depend on others in (pretentious) authority to intermediate between the so- called god? The catholic church is the motherchurch. If the catholic church was founded on,built on, and perpetuated by fraud as you allege, then no doubt, she must have surely passed on her (fraudulent) DNA to her many wayward children. |

noetic16:Yes there is. There is a good intellectual argument. It was made by you. So I'm just quoting from your wisdom. " The holy spirit is the active spirit of god that dwells in the BELIEVER." |
Religion / Re: The God Delusion by globexl: 8:20pm On Oct 02, 2011 |
Athiesm is not a religion so dawkins stands on his own. I have not read his book, though I have watched his debates. from whichever angle he chooses to debate the issue, the fundamental conclusion is the same, vis-a-vis: God (or holy spirit) dwells in the mind of the BELIEVER.(repeating after you) |
Religion / Re: The God Delusion by globexl: 8:12pm On Oct 02, 2011 |
@noetic16 My case, along with other athiests is that the idea of god is created and dwells in the cozy realms of the human mind. |
Religion / Re: The God Delusion by globexl: 8:02pm On Oct 02, 2011 |
Again @noetic16: Active active spirit of god that dwells in BELIEVERS? BUT THAT IS WHAT HAWKINS AND ALL OTHER ATHIESTs HAVE BEEN SAYING ALL ALONG. ITS ALL DWELLS IN MIND(OR BODY) OF THE BELIEVER. WHAT ARE THE ARGUMENTS ABOUT, THEN? |
Religion / Re: The God Delusion by globexl: 7:52pm On Oct 02, 2011 |
@ neotic16 Active spirit of god that dwells in BELIEVERS? BELIEVERS of what? You have just indicted yourself! You have confirmed it. The holy spirit dwells in the mind of the believer. I REST MY CASE. |

It is stated in the bible that the esoteric message of jesus was revealed to an elect few of his discliples.Right? The fundamental question is: From what was christianity built upon? From the wheat or from the shaff? From the esoteric messages revealed to few or from the parables thrown to the unthinking masses? I think it was built on the latter. I think, infact, it is self-evident, that about 95% of christians can neither grasp nor accept the esoteric revelations of Jesus. Therefore , it is very likely that the esotoric teachings of Jesus have been lost forever, or at best, jealously guarded by an elect few, far from the public domain. The motherchurch, the Catholic church, believes that TRUTH is soooooo precious and soooooo fragile, that it needs to be fiercly protected and defended by a battalion of LIES. |

noetic16:here wqe go again. Another fancy word. what is the holy spirit? Who is the holy spirit. |
Religion / Re: The God Delusion by globexl: 6:53pm On Oct 02, 2011 |
noetic16: So the message of Jesus is esotoric? Well, congrats. This is perhaps the ONLY TRUTH I have heard from a christian. There is hope after all. If so,to whom did he reveal the secretes? To whom are those esoteric revelations enthrusted to? Who are the modern day custodians of the esoteric revelations of jesus? Who is competent to unseal and reveal these esoteric teachings, in chewable sizes, to a confused mankind? |

Religion / Re: The God Delusion by globexl: 6:34pm On Oct 02, 2011 |
Fundamental Liberties of God! That is an oxymoron. The word God inherently implies omnipotence, so you dont need to add anything else to it. You guys are actually blasphemers of your god. You enjoy the Fundamental Liberty of adding and subtracting from your god whenever it suites you. This is a new one. Which section of the bible did this one come from? lol. Christians love to coin windy phrases. Anyone is at liberty to coin phrases to mean whatever they want it to mean. Does that validate any argument? |

@Toba: Serpent dieties are the most ubiquitous in all cultures around the globe. Obviously Jesus knew something that we did not know. hhhmmmm |
Religion / Re: The God Delusion by globexl: 6:17pm On Oct 02, 2011 |
Deep Sight: Yes indeed. But you cannot use the srepent as a symbol of evil and deciet in one instance and then as symbol of wisdom in yest another instance in the same religion. Therefore it is more plausible that the serpent as portrayed in the Adam and Eve story was just a symbol of something much more absract than the talking snake. If so,it would also imlpy that the whole genesis story is nothing more than an allegory. But we both know that abt 98% of christians in Nigeria believe this be historical truths. |
Religion / Re: The God Delusion by globexl: 5:45pm On Oct 02, 2011 |
@Toba. Discussions always evolve from their original intent. I understood very well the message that jesus was trying pass along. But saying so, does Jesus not extoling the wisdom of the serpent given that the serpent is a prominent, albeit notorious, actor in the christian anthology(or mythology) ? I just wanted to point out the contradiction in the religious superstitions sorounding the serpent. |
