[b]The request came in around 11:45am today, I accepted it and drove off to the pickup location upon my arrival, my rider to pickup was completely naked as in no bra, no panties and no cloths on her, 2 other women in her company said pls allow her in ur vehicle and let's drive to area G police station, it was a dangerous case, I rejected and said no way I can never drive in such condition then the two women in the naked woman's company brought out their ID and said police dectective, your are obliged to obey and drive off to the police station as we av a very serious criminal case to handle, you are however mandated to obey our command as your service is urgently required by the Nigerian law
I said thank God I am not in trouble today they all came in and I drove off, while on the trip I informed all my riders that by uber law, no one should be allowed into my vehicle in such condition most especially when I feel unsafe to drive my rider to their destination
They all kept quiet no comment, after I ended the trip, the pay was 900 NAIRA, the detective just gave me 1,500 and said you are free to leave now, upon reaching the station gate, I heard a very loud gunshot gbosha gbosha gbosha 3ice, I looked back and I saw the woman arrested already dead on the floor...

These remind me, of one request I got sometime last year, got to pick up location, called the lady that I have arrived, she came out after 15min of my arrival, by then I had already put off my engine and AC, she got in, I wanted to start the car and start the trip, she said my friend is coming too, so I did not start the car again, she started complaining that I should put on the AC as the car is so hot, I told her that means am starting the trip, she said no don't start the trip, just put on the AC first so when her friend comes out, I will start trip, I refused, she was just murmuring Nawao this kind of driver self, she could not talk to me, I knew 1 star awaited me after the trip, waited like extra 5min, I told her am cancelling as I can't continue waiting for her friend, she said oya start the trip, I looked at her and am not going infact request another ride,
coz I have cancelled, you can't come and spoil my rating tongue tongue embarassed tongue

Got a request on Uber, pick up point was Osborne II, got to the location, packed under a shade and turned the engine off. After like 6mins, the woman came out, got into my car and asked me to wait that someone is bringing something for her inside the house, and I said OK. She asked me to start the car and put on the AC while we wait and I told her that means I'm gonna start the trip while we wait and to my biggest surprise, she said and I quote; "isn't the trip already started? The trip should have started immediately you accepted the request" and I said it doesn't work that way. after every, the woman tip me 1k
Correct rider..she respects your time

What is it with you guys and condescending attitude towards your riders, these riders are the ones paying your bills ffs. Doesn't matter if he is paying you N500, they are your customers and deserve every respect even if you feel they are underserving of it.

To think these are the same guys who will enter the bank and rain insults on tellers and customer service officers when they have issues with their almost empty account. We don't see tellers ranting, they simply apologise and pacify them.

If you know you have issues with your self esteem, please quit ehailing. You're a graduate doing ehailing, so what?

See them claiming for a raise in fare, so you want me to pay premium fare while you use your dirty, bland and ugly corolla to come pick me? You guys are just jokers.
My apologies friend as you totally misunderstood me

I believe this is a forum of mostly drivers so I was only talking about the general attitude of riders..Speaking about bankers and customers...I was an ex banker and I know when the customers leave, the bankers speak candidly about the customers that have attitudes and gave them a tough time that day while also analysing their bank balances vis a vis the level of disturbances on the shop floor...

This is the same thing I have just done...I always respected my riders though some treated me like trash but I never insulted anyone..I would mostly smile, not talk or just reject the trip..Never engaged in verbal or physical abuse with any..NEVER as I've been trained that customer is KING.

The facts I stated above is just the truth for me as is the same in the bank..it is common knowledge that those that rant and shout In the bank are not the banks HNIs but the ones that don't shout or just walk straight to the BDMs office if they have issues instead of creating a scene on the shop floor are the ones holding the branch same is the case in e-hailing..

I speak like this because this is really a driver`s forum and never meant any insult. If you read my previous comments that's what I've always stood for.

As regards drivers and level of education, honestly all Im demanding is mutual respect bearing in mind that the automobile picking the rider is not owned by uber/taxify but by mostly the driver who paid for or Is paying currently some good sum in form of rentals for that automobile..that respect should be most in riders who themselves do not have one/nor can afford one at that particular time...From my experience I find that riders who seem to appreciate the workability/logistics of maintaining an automobile respect you more(and even complain of the low fare)than those who don't have one and that's all I said, I never meant no insult..

Bear in mind that my observations are not true across board as you find some riders that respect you even if they might not have a car and some that diss you even when they have 10 cars..

My apologies ones again

My own experience was a particular day at lekki chicken republic to be precise after the place restaurant. A rider requested and on getting to the pick up location believe me that this person wanted to put frozen chickens as in frozen chicken dripping the melted water on the floor. I told him I can't he asked why I said it gonna give my car offensive smell and I can't allow that he replied and said that's how other drivers do pick him saying I'm the first person to reject his request.

At this point it came back to my memory where riders in my car while discussing tells me that cars on uber and taxify now have bad odour and smell as well as mosquitoes bitting them in a car.

Each riders always comment on the neatness of my car.

Another incident was a request on the mainland around Mangoro when the rider had a live ram as in live cow requesting me to open the trunk for him to put a life ram and cow in my car.

Believe me people now abuse using uber and taxify all because everybody I mean majority can now afford to request because of the little amount at the end if the trip.

Na wa o ooo.
Honestly it's really annoying..the fares as so cheap that it attracts all kinds of riders..I still beleive the platform should not be ridiculously cheap as is the case now so that way it naturally selects the riders that use the service..not that it will solve the problem but reduce abuse greatly..

Have you observed the riders that form and want you to drive your car into their bedrooms for pickup or drop them off inside their parlours are the one that don't have cars themselves grin

There assume drivers have low IQs not knowing that alotta guys are graduates and some even have masters...all is well sha

Lolzz, don't mind them. One day I got an Uber request at one event center at VI. I drove straight to the place and saw some guys bringing out cooking utensils, big coolers, unwashed plates dripping oil that were used during the event. I called the person that requested she said her boys are there and that she's packing some things inside I just laughed. I didn't tell her I can't carry her stuffs because she will tell me to cancel immediately and I won't shop the cancellation fee. I patiently waited for five minutes to elapse boom I started madam these load is too much for an Uber car naa, she said then why are u still waiting cancel it. See this woman na so I just enter my car and cancelled immediately.
My problem is they won't even appreciate after all, they think as a driver u are supposed to carry anything load.
Some guys rated me 1star because they took me through a rough road only for them to command me Oga open Boot, I came down telling them I want to see what they are loading inside my boot. And it was that iron they used to roast suya they managed to squeeze it inside my boot and the Boot was left open I begged them to add something they said it's a card trip and they have no cash.

It's so painfully painful that they rated me low because of what happened.
Since then no more nonsense load or we negotiate
My man this is a far better approach that you took than charging for luggage...I once got a request to carry a woman to the international airport who was running late..as them dey bring out the luggage I just dey look..but it was like the luggage no gree finish..mehn I just told her I cant go alone that she should request another uber make we share the luggage...she begged me and said she was in a hurry..minus the load sef four people sat at the back and two (and adult and a little child) in front..as we were driving I was literally in tears because my shock absorber was speaking to me...I was asking myself how much sef this woman wan gimme wey go equate the damage to my shocks...when I got to the airport the woman gave me an additional 500 naira or so I was heart broken..I just smiled and left very broken...

Truth is some riders are heartless and uber/taxify business dynamics no send driver in that regard..the noble thing is reject the trip and negotiate offline than cheat the system..I learnt a bitter lesson that day and I never repeated same again.

Some people will carry cooler of rice, beans and soup plus other items on top 600 naira fare, still go lounge for owners corner. Even keke marwa will charge higher. Abeg free the driver.
When I see people like that, I tell them I’m sorry I won’t be able to carry the load. Most of them always beg for offline and pay a better fare.
Ur 600 naira will not fix my absorbers
That's the job a driver signed up for bro..its better to do the noble thing, reject the trip and further negotiate offline than to cheat the rider and charge for luggage..Yes I get it..it hurts but we must not lose our conscience to make a quick bug...its wrong to charge independent of the receipt...better negotiate offline than defraud the rider..my 2 cents

Since he lied/defrauded you, if you like, you can report to Uber. However, you can be kind enough to forgive him as a bigger person & see the 1k as a tip.
The issue is not about the 1k but about a dubious driver who is taking advantage of riders. He should be reported because he will do it again.

On what grounds are you judging the young man?

Is it because of his other interests he has as shown on his previous nairaland posts or you people have previous history?

I'm curious
Personally I think its near impossible for a driver to pick up and return car every day...

My little experience while driving shows that it will be difficult if not near impossible to daily return the car..the driver could be on a trip on the island or somewhere else yet expected to return the car to the mainland or vice versa...His trips could be localised around that area or other areas and could even move him further from the drop off point...plus the logistics with dropping off and picking up daily wont make the arrangement feasible

If an investor wants to do this business, please let him/her do it whole heartedly. Allow the driver to work at least schedule inspection biweekly or whatever suits you...There will mos def be stories that touch with daily drop off arrangements... active drivers on the thread will answer better but these are my thoughts and i might be wrong..

I think one of the places guys miss it is thos point you raised. Suppose you were doing a 9 to 5 and earning 140k a month. Note thats that's what you have if you net 35k weekly. You'll fall sick like every other person, your house rent, fix car, feeding and all other bills will come out of the salary so wheres the big difference. If you save like everyone else you'll most likely live like everyone else. On the flip side, how many people actually earn 140k a month? Not as many as you'd expect.
Driving means I'm always liquid, like one man I carried some time ago (He owns a school in festac) who also drives part time said "its like having a tree that grows money". This may not be accurate but i got the picture.
Also talking about tolls, shebi na rider de pay, your toll payment is reimbursed na...abi? So i dont get it when guys calculate tolls as part of their OpEx.
That's my account book and book keeping system
Love your operating expense brother..BTW alot of people earn 140k monthly just that their opex is over the roof..working on the island living on the mainland etc...dats what I said and I thank God Ave driven before..for any serious minded driver uber/taxify puts food on the table..it's not rocket science..yes you might not be a millionaire or build your house in vgc but you will be liquid..always having cash in hand...

Keep it up brother

I'm sorry to disappoint You, net earning is the same as net profit

Please, what makes it net?

If you 're considering debuting commissions only, u 're so wrong
Sir net earning on the platform is less commissions and gross earning includes commissions ie on the platform's financial analysis (for uber/taxify reconciliation purposes only)

However, the gross earnings for a driver will be less the cost of production in this case fueling that brought about that particular sales but net earning will be less ALL expenses including fuelling feeding et al..

The analysis above is for proper financial statement however for simplicity, gross earning for driver will just be the net earning showing on the platform but actual net will be less ALL expenses..

You guys are daft. That same screenshot from chucsmoore was during Christmas because I remember him vividly posting it during Christmas last year!!!

Surge was high and drivers were using Lockitor a lot on Non Lagosians who were in town then. Lockitor is the mock location app you guys use for salt and pepper and make such amount. Everything will now be double or even triple depending on how much jaga jaga or line tou draw. Lets now shake this table properly!!

To end this argument, let that 377 guy post a acreenshot of that amount yesterday alone. I will give him 10k and stop posting on this thread!!?
You are a very sad man brother grin...so chucmoore used salt and pepper rite? really if I haven't driven on this platform and offered best of services and haven't met some amazing and respectable drivers both on this platform and in person (irrespective of the ridiculously low fares) while riding, I would say the calibre of people e-hailing in Nigeria contracts is below the minimum co-op and sociable IQ...
