The people of Obi and Oju which made up of igede alleged that some idoma people have been tampering with light infrastructure that pases through idomaland to igede thereby putting the entire igede in darkness, so some igede guys went to fix the light and in the process one of them was shot dead by idoma.




The rest ran back home and later embarked on a peaceful protest to condemn the incident, they were attacked again by idoma people, killing more igede people and with many others injured, that was how the fight started.

Idoma people later mobilised themselves and invaded four igede communities bordering them and set those places ablazed.

In total, about five igede people have been killed with many injured, whatever that is happening right now is because of what I just narrated.

We have a shared history, live in the same senatorial zone, infact igede man was once the traditional ruler of idomaland.


It also has political dimension, some are saying that the current senator representing benue south who is an idoma man got huge votes from igede people, but his idoma people don't like him, they voted someone else, this angered them as they blamed igede people for contributing to his victory.
