ApexTitan: Do a little reading on the web about solar power, that should suffice to give you a true picture of the challenges this form of technology faces.
Have you ever wondered why places that currently use solar power only use it for appliances that have a small load? Why do manufacturing firms not just use solar panels to power their operations?
It is a promising solution, true, but right now it isn't there yet. It is used for much more... It is already there.. It can only get better... |
Politics › Re: How Buhari Can Create 2 Million Jobs With BPO by GodMode: 11:42am On Apr 17, 2015 |
ApexTitan: Lol. If only that was how solar power works. Have you ever wondered why it not widely adopted as you would imagine?
Solar power involves solar panels and batteries and inverters for periods when sunlight is unavailable. The efficiency of the batteries and the solar panels themselves are just some of its bottlenecks. Though there has been considerable progress in this technology the amount of electricity generated per panel is still low compared to what you will get from gas plants. Nope, the amount of electricity depends on the type of solar panel been used.. Nigeria needs to explore solar, wind and waste energy... There is a company in china that sells solar panels to homes.. Some people living in rural abuja use solar panels donated to them. |
Politics › Re: How Buhari Can Create 2 Million Jobs With BPO by GodMode: 10:55am On Apr 17, 2015 |
ApexTitan: For all it's promise solar power is yet to match gas powered plants in terms of cost. Read your comments and understand yourself getting energy from the sun only requires equipment that can absorb solar energy.. The same with Wind energy... The cost is nothing.. |
Politics › Re: How Buhari Can Create 2 Million Jobs With BPO by GodMode: 10:32am On Apr 17, 2015 |
PapaUwa: solar energy isnt goin to cut it. It can only be used as a supplement and only in places like d north. Even in countries with d largest solar plants, solar power forms only a tiny fraction of the total power generated.
Secondly, building solar plants is quite costly compared to gas-powered plants. If I'm not mistaken abt 2 to 3 times the cost of generating the same amt of power.
Thirdly, solar plant is favored by country with little or no gas resources. Nigeria has more than enuff gas resources and dat should be d focal point of its power generation policy. Individuals that have the money can buy solar panels.. and disconnect from PHCN.. The world is looking at and talking about renewable energy... You're here talking about gas powered plantsSMH. |

They will be working at the very least for 6 hours a day at jobs that demand productivity.
As e-business and online retailing in particular expand in Nigeria and other emerging markets,, there is going to be the need for customer service, telemarketing, data entry and analyst positions to be filled.
This provides an opportunity to employ a lot of young people and remove them from poverty. I am suggesting that the incoming government actively leverages on this to create jobs.
Is it becoming clearer to you now? Firstly, Nigeria's unemployment is more than 23%.. Secondly, Agriculture creates more jobs than tech hubs can ever create.. |

owobokiri: You see your life Nigeria? An american president wants to talk to an iraqi president, he calls him direct. An American president wants to talk to an Afghan president? He calls him direct. But when he wants to pass some instructions to a nigerian president, he deligates the job to either one lanky-out of sort-secretary of state or to his vice. Mind you Nigeria is the biggest economy in Africa, the biggest concentration of black people in the world, accounting for at least one in every five black people in the planet! Her size alone, her numbers alone, her pivotal regional clout over the years are enough to attract some respect from the so called 'first American black president. But Obama won't bulge! From day one, he has treated Nigeria with utmost levity while our cantankerous brand of wreckless oppossition with their NADECO styled type of oppossition lapped it up.
It is a diplomatic thunderous slap when the prime minister of Britain visits Nigeria and insists he will only meet Jonathan in Lagos and not the seat of power in Abuja. It amounts to a well crafted diplomatic insult, when an ORDINARY American sec of state is delegated to visit the Nigerian leadership, and he too insists on stoping at Lagos. When an ordinary diplomat starts awarding 'medals of (warped) honour' to Jega, our INEC cheif , at the middle of a general election, iit is a direct interference with our countrys domestic issues and should merit the diplomat in question the status of a 'persona non grata'! For eight years, Obama has avoided Nigeria like we are some kind of leprosy camp,, yet he salivates at every oppurtuinity to ridicule Nigeria. Even before he became president. He it was as a senator, who insisted that Nigeria must swallow the humble pie and surrender Taylor before Nigerias debt releif could be negotiated. He reduced President Bush HIV/AIDS subsidy drug for Africa. Infact Obamas has always biult his no nonsense character on the back of suffering African economies and people. South Africa is the biggest economy and most developed country in Africa.. |

Oil is a blessing The leaders are a curse... I don't know Nigerians always avoid blaming the leaders... To be self employed, as long as you know what you're doing you only need an idea not money... Money would only make things easier. |

Akposkool: I kinda agree but what we should be preaching is specialization. Look employees are no longer interested in certificate, they want to see what you can do. Skill acquisition is the watch word here. Not thinking you are a Jack of all trade by reading medicine and applying for banking. Go for extra courses in your field, build your capacity and you can do it all. Do you think a certificate is enough? I beg to differ and stand to be corrected. Nigerians must indulge in specialization. Advising someone to apply for any type of job is not the answer because I bet you there are some register in that field that will take such a person months to perfect. Do you think big employees have time to train you from the scratch? Hell no, they believe you are already acquainted with the fundamental knowledge of the job. Skill acquisition and specialization is the answer. Stop preaching cut and nail doctrines. I stand to be corrected. Thank you "The only difference between success and failure is the ability to take action." -Alexander Graham Bell |

eleojo23: You got it wrong. (I will ignore the vulgarity of your statement and try to clarify) Self development and self-employed are two different things. However the first may lead to the second.
Self development involves developing whatever skills you have or improving on what you know so that you have an edge over others in the job market. A person who has developed himself can decide to be self employed if he can raise the capital for start-up. "Don't waste time calculating your chances of success and failure. Good to know that while Igbos are busy in all cities of the country investing and developing it in Businesses, you are busy sitting down laying claim and telling us the events of 120 years ago, just to proof point.
BTW we are not talking about what is sustaining the economy because on that area Igbos stand out also, but here we are talking about manpower, human development, investment etc.
You and your kinsmen can equally go to Aba or Owerri and invest instead of sitting down and laying claim of who own Lagos or not Its very bad to leave a peaceful region and go and build in a place that is not commercially buoyant... Most old Lagos Yorubas have sold their properties and moved overseas... People migrate to places better than their region. |
