If you invest in the security of the site, noting will happen! She just wasn't smart enough to think about the future. She had millions of viewers.
She ought to have moved away from blogger since! She was enjoying adsense money, that's probably why she didn't move.
adsense is not limited to blogger... anyone can use adsense on their site.... A site requires per second security checks... no matter how secured a site is... it is always vulnerable to attacks.

She could afford to buy a range for N24 million, give away N250,000 every Monday and sponsor her family to dubai but couldn't afford to buy ordinary domain name? No business sense at all! Childish woman. If they make small money the whole world must hear. No planning for the future, no reinvestment in the business. Even Bellanaija that is not as popular as Linda's blog had the small sense to move away from blogger and buy a domain name. Somehow at the back of my mind, I knew Linda's blog wouldn't last long. She not smart and she's very temperamental and proud.
hosting a domain doesn't protect the site attacks...

Hy Onegai. At least there are still LADIES here who go abt issues logically about issues. *exhales in relief* I've been a victim of book piracy in my 200L and lost a huge sum to it. I thank God for u. There's no room for sentiments here. U cannot live off the work of others.

That said, this story brings several things to the front burner.
1. Linda Ikeji is not educated.
NB. There's a difference btw schooling and education. One might be a graduate and not educated.
Every educated person knows they shd pay an annual token to have a dedicated domain name and a host.

2. She has a terrible/uneducated circle of friends, advisers and followers.
I've NEVER, EVER been to her blog cos I blv she's overrated and sells with sex appeal [Hence I did not even know it ends with '.com'.
If number 2 is not so, how come no one, I mean none of them advised/told her via email or whatever medium to upgrade to a premium service?

3. She is opinionated.
Assuming those mentioned in number 2 advised/told her[ they probably did] she refused to heed good counsel and advice

4. She likes free
This type of woman/girl ,tho making millions, will not give/invest in her boyfriend/husband/family [Google in this case]. Cos she believes its the man's responsibility to UNCONDITIONALLY keep providing everything[domain name and host in this instance] for free. While she just eats, shops and saves her millions

5. She does not like to pay professionals.
She works with dilettantes and amateurs who know no better than she. Cos if she had professionals on her team, the domain name issue would have been one of the first thing to be taken care of, if not the first.
Does she even had legal advisers? They would have told her all this. I can bet she does not.

Her saving grace is that she's in Nigeria and the clamp down on plagiarism and copyright breach is lax, if not non-existent.
If she was abroad, she would have been facing fines running into millions of dollars that 10 Range Rovers cannot pay.
This list could go on and on.
NIGERIAN CAN BE SO SENTIMENTAL. FOR HEAVEN'S SAKE, STOP THIS WHOLE ENEMIES, ENEMIES, ENEMIES THING.
Little wonder songs and churches talking about enemies and being witch-hunted sell a lot in Nigeria.
She's a victim of her own IGNORANCE, GREED, SELFISHNESS, HARD HARDHEADEDNESS AND MANY MORE

International Law can take effect.... this is bad for naija bloggers... cos Google is not gonna stop therehuh

As long as you copy and link back to the source it is okay. but when you copy and rewrite and don't give the source credit that's big trouble... Hope Google only deletes her blog if she's found guilty cos the type of lawsuit she might face won't be a joke...

In summary,

To those complaining that she makes too much noise about her wealth, you have to realize that she does it to motivate people, and show that hard work and persivearance pays off. She went from "nothing to something" and she reminds her readers about that every time she speaks on her wealth. She doesn't make it seem like she is better than anyone else like how celebrities do their own Instagram Stunting.

And about her case, most blogs and websites the world over get their news from somewhere, it is not just her. If she did "copy and paste" then there is a big problem there, but if she rewrote the story, it ain't a biggie. This guy registered the domain name lindaikeji.net and a few other domains similar to her domain...it is clear this is a planned and calculated move.

He is going down the moral road, but this looks like personal vandetta to me.
when people copy they always give reference to the website.. most Nigerian bloggers don't give reference to sites they copy from... that is very wrong. If Google sets its eyes on Nigerian bloggers a lot of blogs will be deleted not just Linda's blog.

CareerRe: It Is A Fallacy That No Knowledge Is a Wasted one by GodMode: 11:05am On Oct 07, 2014
since1914:
O.P., I agree with you 200 per cent! I think this is a general problem around the world today. People hear a dictum or maxim and then the next thing is to start using it carelessly. In my opinion, the question we should have asked is... What is the context in which the words (no knowledge is wasted) were first spoken?

This is because there are several notorious maxims like the one above, being daily bandied around without having any correlation to the context in which they were first used. It is also important to note that just because these maxims are been used every day and almost by everyone for decades doesn't in any way make them logical.

If you were in the Architecture and Design industry you probably would have also heard notorious maxims like "Form Follows Function". This has even used by Design professors around the world for well over Ninety years now. In the course of my research, I found so many holes in that maxim. First the phrase was misquoted and secondly the context in which it was used then, is difficult to align with how it is been used today. In fact as part of a larger body of work, I have only recently written a 5000 word polemics on the irrelevance of this same maxim- Form follow Function.

So in essence, with regards to the maxim- No knowledge is wasted, we must look for the context in which it was first spoken before ascribing any meaning to it. But on its face-value, it think it is absolute nonsense. For instance, in the early days of the craze for Oracle, CCNA and other computer Certifications, I had associates who graduated as Civil Engineers and while they were waiting to go for service and even while job-hunting, enrolled for and took a handful of these certifications. I was disgusted then because I knew, they will never be able to use them; and till this day they have never used those certifications and will never use them because they are full time Civil Engineers. Imagine if they had used half of the resources and time they had then to enroll for classes on Building Information Modelling programs like Revit Architecture, Bentley etc, won't they be standing well above their peers in the industry today?

That said, I still think it is good for people to casually study about different subjects just for the sake of general knowledge, without expecting any gratification on account of this. The mere knowledge they have acquired in the process should be enough gratification.

The problem we usually have is when people aggressively veer off their professional mark to go speculate in other parallel professional terrains acquiring knowledge they don't need, wasting time they don't have.
SaintChukz:
@ Op...i think in one full swoop you have succeeded in contrasting your own opinion in the initial post. In the opening line you opined that -no knowledge is wasted appears to you as axiomatic and as arguably sacrosanct, and in your last line statement you then went on to say that it would be stellar to have a "smattering" of many things. Now, with emphasis on the word "smattering", i'm trying hard to figure out how you would have done that if no single amount of time was put into it to gather the little knowledge you termed "smattering". Mind you the knowledge of a thing doesn't have to be acquired in full for you to term it actual knowledge. You also opined that having a particular knowledge of a thing that has no modicum or bearing on what the future tends to hold for you is sheer waste of time because you may never get to use it. I would say you were wrong there in that assertion because, how would you actually get to know what lies ahead of you when you haven't even gotten there? Or do you have a foreseer gift of telling what the future will bring? In my own candid opinion, i would rather opine that no knowledge is actually wasted until it is left unused. It has to be so because you never can tell when that little "survival skill" you garnered at one time or the other would become very handy to you at a critical point in your life, so i would rather not dismiss any knowledge no matter how irrelevant it may seem at a particular time on the premise that it is never going to be useful to me, when i know we all live in a constantly dynamic world. Finally, i think it is best to make myself feel "important" at any particular stage in life rather than feel "impotent" at a near unforeseeable stage in the future.
Serendipity:
Undoubtedly the saying that no knowledge is wasted appears axiomatic and arguably sacrosanct.
=
In his book ''Think Big'', (pp. 200-212) Ben Carson argues that you never can know what you will be doing fifteen years from now hence one should grab every available knowledge.
=
He cited an incident where he was before an interviewer who mentioned en passe that he had heard about a concert and he also quipped that he too had heard about it which visibly left the interviewer surprised and they then started discussing classical music..
He contends that that knowlege of classical music was instrumental in his success in that interview.
=
=
MY OPINION
Methinks that having or acquiring some knowledge is sheer and utter waste of scarce time and resources.
-----------------------------------------------
For example, I don't see how the knowledge of how to prepare a cake or sew clothes would have a significant bearing on my life if I were a lawyer. This is truer given that I may never get the time to come and be sewing clothes or making cakes for either myself or family.
Even if I would get to use them in future, wouldn't it be once in a blue moon as in Ben Carson's case.
---------------------------------------------
In high school, I was very good at the use of Pitman Shorthand. An aeon has elapsed since I left junior secondary, and I have never got to use not even a vestige of the knowledge I acquired in that subject.
=

Again, acquiring some of this otiose and apparently irrelevant knowledge may be at the expense of knowledge which would have been more apt and handy. In other words, you may be wasting time acquiring knowledge that has not even a modicum bearing on your life or knowledge you may never get to use due to your discipline.
=
At any rate, I suggest that it would be stellar to have a smattering of many things.
=

time to indulge in some most of the activities attached to youthful exuberance. Its paid off, yes! But, I AM DEPRESSED right now! sad
Did any of you guys currently 30 and above experience same? Would really help if someone said something. *sigh*

your missing d point. I know of hdl e.g verilog. A popular hard ware description langs.

The issue,is implementing software in hardware.
An example is Lisp machines.
The machines natively ran lisp.
But to do required heavy tradeoffs.
The language may need to b simple for better performance.
Java,c++ mayb2 complex to run efficiently in hardware.
They are not too complex... that's what most companies use.

I totally disagree bro, have you taken your time to check out how micro controllers work, and some of the programming language that work with it.
Btw
I once saw a project where the best programming language that could interface with the Hardware properly is BASIC.

Basic is a language well known for interfacing with hardwares.

It's just a choice of preference sha.
I can't categorically say they are obsolete.
People should stop displaying ignorance on this thread... There is something called "Hardware development language or hardware design language or hardware description language".
As for u and asalimpo those languages are old and slow.

As in, how can someone who claims to be a programmer say this:
asalimpo:
i'll admit i know very little about hardware. But i do know tht hardware doesnt evolve at d pace of software. Modern software has evolved towards making d programmer easily describe d problem and program it thn think about hardware.
Python,clojure,java,haskell,scala - far away from d machine.
All of them hav inbuilt memory management facilities decades ago d programmer wudve to this etc.
Many, the best ar mathematically very rigorous.

So if basic,is d best for hardware, the reason isnt far fetched: its grammer is simple and its rules are relatively few.
Makg it easier to model in hardware.
How wud you model c++ e.g in hardware! The hardware wud b terribly slow.
Assembly,C and C++ are the fastest programming languages that exist and can be combined with hardware description languages(hdl). Even Java is used in hardware development.

If there are any old languages I'll advise peeps to learn it'll be C,C++ or Java.

msmon: Education defines knowledge but
schooling doesn't. because schooling
has an end while education is a never
ending process. (GodMode)

I spoke in the Nigeria context because we often confuse education with schooling.
School: is an institution for instruction in a skill or business.

Education: is the act or process of imparting or acquiring general knowledge, developing the powers of reasoning and judgment, and generally of preparing oneself or others intellectually for mature life.
Education: Is the act or process of acquiring knowledge.

msmon: I will comment later!

Modified:

@OP, you asked 'why do I go to school'?. I will answer by telling you it's just to have education believing that it will be the benchmark for me to be successful in life. Like you rightly said, our parents has made us to believe that but we later find out it's not totally right.

We often confuse 'Education/Schooling' with 'Knowledge', but it's has been discover that some people may have education without been knowledgeable and it brings to mind the debate of 'Brilliance VS. Intelligence'.

In conclusion, I thank God I had education because I read my way through to discover some fault in some of the things our parents told us back then and I have come to realise that there are two things that shape our destiny and define our future, 1) the choice we make and 2) our commitment towards that choice.

I submit!
Education and schooling are not the same thing.
EducationRe: Why Do We Go To School? by GodMode: 3:03am On Sep 30, 2014
