No they won't. Govt Policy is all about statistics . If you create scarcity, the price goes up tremendously and only the most hardened and successful criminals will have access to them. Even those calibre of criminals will find more efficient use for guns than low level home invasions. Statistically you can easily do away with 90% and more of firearm home invasions. How can the Govt create scarcity when they don't control the production of guns and it's distribution. Most Gun production companies if not all are privately owned. Mexico banned the ownership of guns totally by individuals but gun is still every where in that country. No amount of policy will stop criminals,gangs and cults from getting access to guns. It's not just possible in my opinion. Uk might be the exception not the rule cus I learnt even their police don't carry firearms.

Norway has one of the strictest gun control laws in Europe. Gun ownership generally around Europe is limited to Agricultural use, and the caliber of weapons is usually limited to single action non-automatic weapons. This is why we don't have the issues you keep seeing in US even though we may have some prejudiced police officers and citizens.

Let me just chip in I hope you know criminals will always have access to guns either legally or illegally and nothing will reduce that. One party is left disadvantaged here. A burglar/Criminal is coming to my apartment with the full knowledge that I am defenseless and I pose no threat.
