hopefulLandlord: Kids: Mom, Dad, we're gonna have some friends over for a party and we want access to the liquor cabinet even though we're all underaged.
Parents: It's already unlocked. Don't drink on an empty stomach, drink water to curb your hangover, and if anybody passes out, roll them on their side so they don't choke to death.
Godx's logic: Those parents are clearly against underage drinking. Look at all the reasonable limits and regulations they put on how their kids were supposed to go about it. They would have been ignored if they had outright forbidden it, so they're better parents for handling it this way, but they still obviously do not condone underage drinking. This comparism makes no sense whatsoever. |

hopefulLandlord: Exodus 12:43-45 (NRSV) 43 The Lord said to Moses and Aaron: This is the ordinance for the passover: no foreigner shall eat of it, 44 but any slave who has been purchased may eat of it after he has been circumcised; 45 no bound or hired servant may eat of it.
Leviticus 22:10-11 (NRSV) 10 No lay person shall eat of the sacred donations. No bound or hired servant of the priest shall eat of the sacred donations; 11 but if a priest acquires anyone by purchase, the person may eat of them; and those that are born in his house may eat of his food.
These passages show that there is a difference between someone who is hired, someone who is a bonded servant, and someone who is bought, paid for, and owned. These are laws for priests. If the Bible had a problem with people owning other people, why couldn't it at least ban the priesthood from owning slaves? I don't get the question you are asking. At least what? |

As far as we know, the "slavery" of ancient Israel was primarily debt slavery and corvee labor. The Bible didn't endorsed it but set out guidelines on how they were to be followed. |

madrid5: name 2 scientist in first world that don't believe in evolution or big bang. I never said christians have not invented stuff, even Newton and liebniz were Christians, BUT all those scientist lived centuries ago, before the major discoveries/knowledge of evolution or DNA,u cannot use them as examples of Christians or other religious people having scientific literacy in the 21st century . I didn't even mention America because despite being the world largest economy and military, they are one of the worst countries in the west. No educated person opposes vaccines whether atheist or theist, the majority of people who opposes vaccines and make conspiracy theories of one world order, 666,Antichrist are religious people. You are phrasing it as "allowing gayism" meanwhile what is really happening is the killing or imprisonment of gay people ,I personally have doubts if I truly support gay marriage mostly because of gay people adopting kids as they do in the first world, but to just kill them or put them in prison for 14 years for having sex with a person of similar gender is babarity and intolerance at its zenith,so if lil nas or the president of Luxembourg were Nigerians they would either be dead or imprisoned for 14 years, meanwhile in their countries they are productive citizens whose talent help their countries, then u are asking me how intolerance is stunting Nigeria's development, really?. Now I am convinced you are not really sure or you haven't done enough research on what you are talking about. James Peebles, Fred Hoyle, Geoffrey Burbidge infact most cosmologist and astronomist have find faults & rejected the big bang theory and even some athiest rejects it as well. Is Christianity right now preventing it's members from going to school and being educated? So how does it spread scientific illiteracy? You have not actually said anything sensible about that. Djokovic, Jessica Biel,Jim Carrey, Robert de Niro are all anti-vaaxxers. Are they uneducated or Antichrist? |

madrid5: not just Christianity all religions prevents its followers from acquiring education that breaks from its dogma, that's why most nigerians no matter the educational attainment don't believe in evolution ,how can u call Christians especially bible literalist educated when u don't even believe in natural selection,u guys WILL regarded similar to flat earthers in Europe and south east Asia with that huge ignorance. Look at the reaction of Nigerians when scientific threads show up in front page, some of them will be qouting bible against scientist, they even believe their pastors are magicians la merlin.as for gay people u may not like their sexuality but the fact that u are not troubled that fellow human beings are to be killed or imprison for 14 years in your country because they like to Bleep their own sex shows are religion has killed your sympathy and made u and most nigerians dangerous bigots. Even scientist that are atheist don't completely believe in evolution or the big bang theory. What are you saying? Religion does not stop anyone from being educated. Many scientific research came from religious backgrounds. I’m sure you’ve heard that Gregor Mendel, the father of genetics, was a Catholic monk. He remained a catholic monk even after postulating genetics. He certainly didn’t see any conflict between religion and science. Pasteur is another second example. Infact history is filled with religious people who invented and postulated numerous scientific ideals. Christianity does not stop his members from acquiring knowledge. Guy in America there are anti-vaxxers. Educated people who are atheist as well that don't believe in vaccines and opposes them. Is that because of religion as well? So Nigeria not allowing gayism is one of the reasons the country is not progressing? |

donjazet: You are the one beating around the bush. You are cherrypicking the best part of the Bible to suit your narrative and I am pointing out your hypocrisy in doing so?
You pointed out that your religion tells you not to commit adultery but convienetly left out FORNICATION. Do you adhere to that part of not? Your religion supports SLAVERY, do you believe that or not. Your religion is purely MISOGYNISTIC and believes that women are lesser than men. Do you support that? Your Bible admonishes violence to unbelievers, Do you support that or not.
Can you see how nobody can call himself a true believer without being divisive and malevolent towards his neighbors.
different religions set different standards for it's followers making it almost impossible to live side by side in unity.
You can't cherrypick which part of your religion you want to follow and turn a blind eye to the other. You keep going off the rails my friend. Now its clear you don't actually don't know anything about Christianity and it reforms about the Mosaic covenant. Next time don't speak about topics you know nothing about. |

donjazet: I have said it before that deriving your values from the Bible or any other holy book is actually dangerous because it is very much contradictory and you can justify any action you take with quotes or verses of the Holy book.
Now you are conveniently pointing out the good part that teaches you love.
What apart the part that condemns the unbelievers. Or the part that term people opposed to the religion to "die by fire".
What about the part of the hadith that encourages mass murder and promise of 72 virgins in "paradise". In the end we gain our moral values IN SPITE of religion not because of religion.
A religious person will ALWAYS be suspicious of someone who doesn't share his same belief. Nigerias problems hinge on both RELIGIOUS AND TRIBAL DIFFERENCES. this has been my point all along. The two go hand in hand.
I chose to ask you about the inter religious marriage, because marriage is the ultimate social structure of unity. Any two people that can get married without any social problems indicate a healthy relationship between the two sides. Still you haven't even said anything that comes close to what I asked. You are going round and round in circles. You said religion is the problem in Nigeria I said ok fine. Use my religion which is Christianity as a case study. "I believe in God and my beliefs are set on not stealing, lying, commiting adultery, killing, bearing false witness and loving my neighbors as I love my self. If I obey those basic principles how is my faith a problem to Nigeria?" |

kakakii: My own opinion.
1. I don't think religion is only the problem in this country, it's just among the major problem we face as a country.
In the east, it's pretty common to see a Yoruba christian marrying an igbo christian especially people attending the Pentecostal church. You will however almost never see a Yoruba Muslim marrying an igbo christian one must convert for others for peace to reign. I personal believe religion is part of the problem in this country.
2. You can't put all the blame on the religion for being in existence, if we have a good leader and working economy people will have few reason to go to church or mosque , that's why any good thing you benefit as a citizen is considered a miracle.
Recently the Catholics asked the FG to use some of their churches as isolation centre. Had it been we have enough isolation centre would the government be at the mercy of the Catholics . I'm sure they will gain more followers for this deed
OYEDEPO has done few roads by himself, something that should be the government responsibility. Religion thrive where there is bad leadership. As long as we have bad leadership religion will continue to thrive ..
People needs hope and religion is giving it to them Religion itself has no hands in any problem in Nigeria. Use me and my religion Christianity as an example. I believe in God and my beliefs are set on not stealing, lying, commiting adultery, killing, bearing false witness and loving my neighbors as I love my self. If I obey those basic principles how is my faith a problem to Nigeria? |

And he later gave Drogba a penalty in that same match to complete his hattrick. What's the difference between lampard and Drogba taking the penalty at that moment for you to say team first before personal glory? Drogba would have killed two birds with one stone. |

He would have shattered the premier league record and cemented his legacy even higher. Give or take out of those 10pks he miss 3 and score 7. That's 36league goals . Lampard is a wicked somebody. Drogba and Lampard have actually fought over penalties before. Rooney and Drogba was fighting for golden boot and were tied on 26goals each on the last day of the season. Chelsea vs Wigan Drogba wanted to take the penalty to go above Rooney but lampard didn't allow him. Drogba ended up scoring an hatrick tho. |

But, if you were to pick one, just one, who would it be Xavi or Iniesta? (I'm not asking who is better, lol) State your reasons. You put Xavi in any midfield and you have the possesion part of the game sorted, no team is going to beat you on possesion doesnt matter what system you play in or against. Generally speaking Xavi has always been a tier above iniesta. |
