Aguero has and will definitely give him a tough time. He even listed Aguero as the hardest person he has had to mark. 1 vs 1 I think he can definitely match him for pace and strength so I will just say 50/50.

A good defender requires both abilities.i.e shadowing and tackling.lunging into a tackle all the time is stupid,so is shadowing all the time.shadowing is mostly used to delay the opponent in order to buy time for support as well as cutting passing and to a small extent shooting angle.The best defenders to me are those who decide what they do base on risk and reward. Dijk is very good at shadowing,i don't know much about his tackling though.

Van dijk is very capable of both. Check spillo1 reply you will see his tackling success. Van dijk posses all the abilities of a top top defender.

I have no problem with both styles of defending TBH. I don't have to see aggressive defending nor do I have to see clean defending to rate you. Whichever one you are doing, just do it well.

Just like you have Roy Keane, Edgar Davids and Diego Someone that can kill you with tackles, or you have Makelele who hardly tackles but specializes in guiding you into traffic. Both are still great DMs.

VVD style of defending is very effective for me, same as Vidic that will engage you.

What Van Dijk does is ensure that he is not fully exposed by commiting recklessly, and he instead looks to stay with his man, force a decision, intercept or block the ball. This highlights his superb reading of the game and near-flawless defending. Ferdinand was similar. He used to go on many matches without committing a foul, 30+ games sometimes, because he didn't have to engage attackers physically to shut them down.

He has shown that the best way to defend is to avoid 1 vs 1 entirely. Best way to defend 1 vs 1 is to turn them into 1 vs many. Van Dijk is great at doing that perfectly. I will take him at my club in an heartbeat.

He does that in a smart way, cutting off the angles and basically forcing the attacker into a bad choice. He is incredible in 1 vs 1 situations. Committing to the tackle is for guys who aren't confident of their ability to force a striker into a bad position. i can smell your hatred for him all through your post. You have sworn never to admit anything about him so let's just end it. I don't like people that can never be objective.

People have been dying everyday in kano before now but no body paid attention. It's a possibility they are now announcing them to make the news in order to ask the federal government for more package/ money to handle the pandemic.
