Mrviktor: Boss how has the experience been after using the phone for this long now The phone is a great device, and is up to task in handling whatever you throw at it. I am still having issues with the dropped calls though sometimes (receiver can't hear the conversation, while I can). Troubleshooting on the Internet, seems it has something to do with the VoLTE |

eyinjuege: Why don't you chill and see how things go. Relocation isnt a one day thing and wouldnt happen immediately like that. It may be in the next 6months to 1 year. While waiting, start looking for how to go about getting your own business /shop abroad too. You can start making clothes from home. There are Nigerian communities everywhere in the world, and they always love their owambe. Infact, learn how to make clothes for men too. You might just be the go to person. Infact, you can also do some certification courses abroad to get a better job with better pay than your business in Naija, and still be sewing clothes by the side too. Relocating is not easy, but by the time you settle it might actually be better for your family Why not give it a try, and leave one of the trusted girls in charge of your shop. Come visit your shop within 3 to 6months, and see if you would sell it or not. You would have had a taste of living abroad and can compare it to Naija. You started from the scratch in PH. You've got what it takes to do same abroad too, if you put your mind to it. Stay together as a family. Do you live in my brain? This was the same advice I was about to share with her |

festwiz: Wow! I thought it was a recent development. We'd still be enjoying Mi dialer if not for EU regulations. The Mi dialer would return with MIUI 12 The stock Google dialler was retained with the MIUI 12. Still had the issues with muting calls and dropped calls initially, but Google released an update to carrier services on playstore in the second week of August that seemed to have fixed the bug. Stoll testing it though |
Phones › Re: The Xiaomi Thread. by GogetterMD(m): 11:44pm On Jul 10, 2020 |
festwiz: Okay. If the problem is cross OEMs then Google will have to push an update via the Play Store to fix it. I don't think they'd be doing that soon. The problem has been around for 2+ years now |

GogetterMD: Out of the box, is the coral green color option of the Mi 10 8/256. Box contains the phone, 30w charger, type C cable, transparent hard case (more like a hybrid between silicon and nilkin case), Sim ejector tool. This option is the global version (single Sim). On the first look, you'd notice the beautiful aesthetics and attention to detail in the design of the phone. Brushed aluminum metal covered with gorilla glass front and back (I think corning gorilla glass 5).
Powered on and set up in no time. It's good that it has the option to transfer your files from your old xiaomi device to this one over local wireless. Google setup also done.
After powering on, first thing you'd notice is the incredibly crisp display. A blend of appropriate contrast, sharpness, and color. Though it's a FullHD display, you can barely tell the difference with a 2K display (I have used 2K displays from the LG phone range before, so I can tell). The bezeless edged display also gives a beautiful feel for those who love this.
The global version ships with the Global MUIU 11, and very few bloatware compared to the CN version. Also comes pre-installed with GApps, so you don't need stressing to get your Google apps.
Scrolling through the phone was as smooth and smooth can be, and you could almost immediately notice the 90Hz refresh rate of the screen. Charging out of the box took about 20 mins to get it from 65% to 100%. It supports 30w wireless charging but I don't think I'd be investing in a wireless charger for now.
During initial use, I shared Wi-Fi from my other phone for the initial setup. After a while the phone started to heat up a lil bit (I use a lot of apps though, so I had to reinstall them all). The battery dropped about 35% after like 2hrs. This got me worried. The battery has been steady strong after doing a security update for May, the battery life and heating issues seems to have gone away. Did 45 minutes of music on 80% volume with Wi-Fi on and the battery dropped just 1%. Yet to do a rigorous gaming and video test on the battery.
My favorite games on Android are War Robots (PvP), PUBG, and Asphalt 9. Tested the 3 games on it yesterday. Connection was good on PUBG and War robots was good. Game play was very smooth, and you could easily tell when game play is sustained above 60FPS. Heat generation was very tolerable also, compared to the last Snapdragon I used (SD835). On-screen controls for the games were great, with very fast response. I also tried the Asphalt 9 with it (using the Glap mobile controller). Awesome graphics, great response.
I am yet to give the device a full day testing because I've been busy. Also yet to do a camera test. I might update with that later. Update: so I've been having an issue with my device. When I'm making or receiving a call and I put it on speaker, I can hear the person very clearly but they cannot hear me. Usually happens after like 1 minute on the call, and almost always all of the time. Muting the mic and unmuting it sometimes solves the ish. Thought it was a manufacturing fault, but it turns out that it is an android bug that affects a lot of android phones (many Xiaomi and Samsung series). For Xiaomi devices, issue is common with MUIU 11 and above. Also seems to be more rampant in devices using the native Google voice dialer. Found a lot of complaints about it on public forums, and there isn't a permanent solution yet |

Mrviktor: Nice to know they addressing the heating issue.. I hope to buy one before years end. Is the battery stable now and how much did u get it. The 256gb version. Also want to know about the camera is that 108 just a gimmick or is it packing a punch.. And can u use the phone for a whole day like maybe 7 hours screen on time.. Also is the screen bright like under direct sunlight..
And how's the sound.. Is it just loud nd noisy or does it pack bass The 256 costs about $700 The 108MP main camera ain't a gimmick, it does pack a punch. DXOmark ranks the camera on the Mi 10 Pro (the elder brother to the Mi 10)as one of the best in the current generation, even better than S20 Ultra. The Pro version packs an excellent telephoto lens for taking awesome Zoom pictures, and the night mode shooting is also splendid. Those are the areas where the Pro version beats the ordinary version (plus support for 50w dash charging wired and wireless) The phone would easily go an entire day with moderate use. The screen nits is excellent under direct sunlight, one of the advantages of an amoled display The speakers are excellent, and quite loud, clear and crisp for speakers on a mobile device. They are rated HiRes |

joey150: Deregulate the petroleum sector. Remove subsidy. Let's get this over with.
Our entire petroleum sector is a joke and in it's present state will remain a corrupt and inefficient industry.
The problem with a deregulation is the inefficient government will keep stealing left, right and centre.
It simply makes zero sense to keep paying millions of dollars yearly subsidizing a finished product, when the raw material is right on your land.
This country is the perfect example of how to NOT run a country. Very smart chap you are. Excellent take on the topic |
