Thanks Justwise. I already have a biometrics for renewal booked in London for April 26. The current passport expires in June and my intended travel date to Naija and back is 9 - 26 May. I fear the current passport will be invalidated after my renewal biometrics.
When you go for your appointment on April 26 you can ask the officials there to allay your fears but am very sure you will get your passport before you travel as its just 24-48 hrs to receive your new passport after biometrics.

The coaches lacks tactics.I remember Westerhoff used only Sunday Oliseh in the middle during WC instructing Siasia, Amunike and Finidi to support Oliseh if we are losing possession and it works.

I think we are arrogant believing we can override smaller countries using formations that we lack players to execute it,now am beginning to understand Peseiro style of play during Afcon, prior to Afcon he was finding it difficult to get results reason why he drew Zimbabwe and Lesotho....He realized he lacked possessive midfielders and only way out is to have 3 man defenders with 5 players in the middle supporting the attack and defence
.
Well said 💯 I couldn’t have put this better!

Philosopher1979:
We need to evolve beyond 4 4 2 as soon as possible.
Then the 1994 set can be a stumbling block. It can be a psychological barrier.
It is as if we think we cannot achieve more than them. We seem to believe getting to the semi finals of the world cup or wining 3 successive editions of the nations cup is impossible. We are not thinking of achieving more than that generation. We see their achievements as the limit
. That is mythical, unscientific and very weird. It's as if we see getting to the second round of the world cup as mythical and impossible to surpass. One football commentator said nigeria getting to the final of the world cup was unrealistic. I'm happy morocco which does not do well in the nations cup proved us wrong.
The 94 set is a stumbling block and not an inspiration and this is the tragedy.
We need to make our history and forget about 94. We can do better.
There are psychological barriers that need to be broken. It's funny and sad.

At least victor osimhen and ademola lookman broke the barrier by winning african footballer of the year. Some people before osimhens time might believe we can't win african footballer of the year because the gods of 94 cannot be surparssed
Blame the media, ex players and the fans too, even where the Eagles have succeeded they keep downgrading their success, the Afcon 2013 winning team was dubbed a boring side and the coach called names, that team achieved what the 1994 team did including second round exit at the World Cup. This is why we keep finding it difficult to replicate such feat or even build more on it, the closest we have come again is getting to Afcon finals last year still we said it was a boring pattern of play and called the coach all sort of names. We need to stop living in denial and build on any success we achieve. We don’t have to like a coach before giving him his credit and due. Tangible Results must be criteria for defining true success and not entertaining football. The Moroccans didn’t get to the World Cup semis with entertaining football

semid4lyfe:
Since the final days of Gernot Rohr, the Super Eagles have struggled defensively, finding it difficult to keep a clean sheet.

◾Sierra Leone came from behind to draw 4-4 in Benin City.
◾Benin Republic defeated us 1-0 in Porto-Novo.
◾Cape Verde beat us 2-1 in Mindelo.
◾Central African Republic stunned us 1-0 in Lagos.
◾Cape Verde held us to a 1-1 draw in Lagos.

Even under José Peseiro, the same defensive frailties persisted, with the team conceding goals to supposed african minnows we should have handled comfortably:

◾Nigeria 2-1 Sierra Leone
◾Nigeria 0-1 Guinea-Bissau
◾Sierra Leone 2-3 Nigeria
◾Mozambique 2-3 Nigeria
◾Nigeria 1-1 Lesotho
◾Zimbabwe 1-1 Nigeria
◾Guinea 2-0 Nigeria

The breaking point came at AFCON when we drew 1-1 with Equatorial Guinea. That was when Peseiro finally acknowledged we had a defensive problem.

His solution? Switch to a five-man defense—three center-backs and two wing-backs (Ajayi, Ekong, Bassey, Aina, and Zaidu). The result? A vastly improved defense that didn't concede until the semi-finals.

Finidi George should have stuck with that system, but instead, he let armchair analysts dictate his tactics with their "You can't play five at the back against African minnows." "The best teams in the world play a back four", "Our strength is in our attack"etc nonsense talk, And so, he reverted to a four-man defense —conceding three goals in two games and managing just one point.

Now, enter Eric Chelle. After two games, he already looks like a rigid coach stuck on playing a 4-4-2 diamond—even with the wrong personnel. If we were to face Spain or Argentina, I wouldn’t be surprised if he stubbornly sticks to the same 4-4-2.

His squad selection also raises eyebrows. Dropping Frank Onyeka from the 23-man squad makes me wonder if he even reviewed our AFCON matches. How do you watch those games and decide Onyeka isn’t needed? He was our midfield engine—running, marking, covering every blade of grass, harassing opponents non-stop.

Even his lineup choices are questionable. Sticking with the same starting XI from the Rwanda game against Zimbabwe suggests he didn’t study the Rwanda match properly. If he had, Chukwueze, Osayi, and Ndidi shouldn’t have started against Zimbabwe.

Furthermore. his game management seems poor. Sometimes, 1 goal is enough. The team just needs to play defensively, park the bus, protect the lead and grind out the result.

Moving forward, Eric Chelle must be dynamic and show tactical flexibility, play players in their best positions, make bold decisions, and bench underperformers when necessary. The Super Eagles cannot afford another tactically stubborn coach.

South Africa scares me. That team is more or less a club team so their understanding and chemistry is high.

They press, mark, joggle and pass the ball well. They're a well drilled team.

If I were Eric Chelle, I'll go full Italian Catenaccio on their asses by adopting and playing a tactical formation that prioritizes a solid defense, disciplined man-marking and counter attacks.

Super Eagles have to beat SA in SA, there's no other way.
You just explained why we are where we are today. I warned then that we shouldn’t throw away all we achieved at Afcon but of course our arrogance won’t let us be.

I know coaches sometimes make tactical changes, but it was glaring dat Chelle was confused about d players wing. When Yusuf came in against Rwanda he committed a foul at exact place Rwanda did for Osimhen first goal.

What is d essence of having substitute when you don't want to substitute.

Sir no matter how we want to look at it Chelle make tactical blunder through his substitute.
If we won the game nobody will bother much about change of positions or substitutes. We are all just suffering from the pain of the match result. We will rather be celebrating Chelle and be abusing previous coaches if we had all the maximum points, I know us very well

I generally maintain a position of giving every new coach a chance. You see that playing Aina at LB, keeping Bruno on the bench and Osayi as the RB? the error showed itself in the first game against Rwanda when Yusuf, as in Yusuf came in for Osayi.

At that point he should have realized the error of using the two RBs at the same time.

Then shockingly he repeated it in the match against Zimbabwe. The entire right hand side of our game was flat. Zimbabwe had a free day running up and down that track. No be there dem take score us?

I doubt his tactical nous oo. Doesn't mean I will not give him the benefit of the doubt. After all, it's Finidi who finished us, not Chelle
What if it’s something agreed by the coaching crew and players. It’s not today eagles coaches switch positions of players and Chelle won’t be the first eagles coach to do such, Tijani babangida said in an interview how bonfere Jo switched his position against South Africa in Afcon 2000 and we were 2-0 up in first half. So it’s nothing strange and if the game in uyo ended 1-0 not many will bothered now about changing of positions

But the chance is very slim
He’s in the wrong generation of players, if he even gets more services, his goal tally will be more. The clubs he has played for all play to and utilise his strengths, we are yet to fully utilise it in the national team. More crosses and floating balls is needed in the box for him. This was what Yekini enjoyed in his days until his teammates started thinking otherwise

It definitely won't be the same. We won't and can't draw 3 home games under a manager like Renard.
Apart from 3 or 4 players this team don’t have enough zeal and commitment and there’s nothing any other coach will do. You don’t even have better replacements so if you fire one which other players will perform magic. Renard go just shout tire and the players will just continue their career in Europe, most are even dual nationals so no stress on them at all

Exactly. I was indifferent about his appointment, and acknowledge that he made some mistakes, some of which the poster highlighted, but any sincere person can see what the coach was trying to do tactically.

I sincerely see his vision and what he's trying to do with the team, I however think he has a personnel problem as some of the boys in the team can't bring that vision to fruition. It's hope to him now to go scorched earth, scout and select the right players who fit his model instead of making accomodations for some while playing his best players out of position.

I look forward to how he addresses this in the next games become drawing conclusions, but if he gets personnel right, he sincerely is on the right track.
It's what some of us have always said here, that the free-flowing football Nigerians desire from the Eagles, we don't have the players to execute such, but Nigerians want to see that free-flowing play by force by fire, whether we have the players or not. From the way the coach was committing the players too forward in the first half with their high line play, I was so scared that a swift counter from the opposition would have seen us conceded which almost happened but do I blame him, he was simply looking for early goals to punish the Zimbabweans like he did in Rwanda, how is that a sin on his part for Christ sake. You're playing at home and you simply need goals, simple. The coach surely has a different footballing ideology from his predecessors, which is why his appointment was hugely celebrated in the first place. Now we are changing our mouths, haba! People are now saying he needed to put in more bodies, the same bodies that Paseiro put and we complained that he was too defensive, I just tire for us honestly.
