Mujtahida: Terrible. In the first match when Osayi was subbed, guess who was slotted at RB? Yusuf! Can you imagine. When naturally Osayi should come in for Aina. I really wish I can understand his thinking. Is Bruno that bad at LB?
I doubt Chelle is a good tactician oo. I doubt it. To do the same dumb thing twice in such high stake matches? Mbanu especially with almost three months of preparation? Something is wrong oo After two matches, you can't conclude. He didn't even lose any of the matches. It's funny that I, who never supported Chelle in getting the job, have to defend him from you people who celebrated his appointment all over the place. |

BankyGee: Stop smoking bro... Stop smoking. It's really bad.
Super Eagles with a dead coach, empty stadium and one player down should be able to beat Zimbabwe.
The coach did his part, this same lineup beat a more well-drilled Rwandan side. The coach won't score for you, the tap-in Iwobi missed is the coach also, try dey read before you post abeg, sometimes you go just post wetin go make person dey check whether he read well or not. A new coach with a win and a draw after two games has started well by any standard, those who are trying to transfer their aggression to him should grow up. |

jedisco: We call a part social determinants of health. The difference in expectancy between the poorest and richest postcodes in the UK is about 10 years. This is not even considering quality of life. At the end, someone would bring up data and start pointing towards the low economic attainment, home ownership e.t.c in certain migrants communities as some form of avenue to make them look inferior without factoring in how they were milked by the state in their productive years.
Someone (or family) working in Care on minimum wage with all the restrictions would pay all the associated visa and settlement cost, have no recourse to benefits and be expected to subsequently lead an enjoyable life. Whereas the average Brit on same level may have their rent subsidised (about 30% of privately rented households receive housing benefit). Many more don't even work and live off the state yet complain how difficult life is for them but expect the migrant to make ends meet. 😂 not forgetting living in the 20 largest world cities index |

7demons: With the next major duels coming up the next 6months, let's hope Eric Chelle will take his time out to MONITOR, SCOUT & re-strategize his plans on players he will use to execute his tactics come September. 6months is alot of time to get your plans right. No excuse! I also hope they will have 1or2 FIFA breaks for friendlies. Bare injuries, let's hope Osimhen will be on his best form. That's our only match maker. Winning our 4 remaning matches means we will be on the same point with SA(bar goal difference). We need to win the remaining matches and score lots of goals. Why must he be our only match maker? Na only him waka come? Then we are not even fit to compete in Afcon talk less of the World Cup. Any player that can’t raise his game to the level of zeal we see in players like Aina, Bassey and osihmen should make way out of the national team. Enough of mediocrity, period. How can people in the crowd be shouting Jesus (no pun intended) in a match because of unserious players, people in the stands shouting to players to mark their man, we no get shame? |

Meliforme: Yes, those one on one and open net chances.
It is the duty of the coach to select his players, and to drill them according to his tactics. Chelle failed to beat Zimbabwe. What tactics is left at the 90th minute for players to lock shop and throw the key away. I don’t understand us again as a people. |
Sports › Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by Goke7: 8:39am On Mar 27, 2025 |
BankyGee: Omo, I give myself 24 hours break for any online activity first. I don invest hope, energy, calculations, contents and emotion inside this Super Eagles qualification stuff.
1. We can't blame Éric Chelle for any wrongdoing. Yes, he played one or two players out of position but will be the one to tell them to score open net chances?
2. Lookman should pass more! I watched Argentina's game, four different players scored! It's not bad if you assist! Lookman is my player, he's the African Best Player, he should play like that. He had an okay game, but poor decision making from him cost us "goals", not just a goal. Where he was supposed to shoot once, he touched the ball too many times, where he was expected to run a one-two or just do a simple pass, he was touching the ball too much.
3. We had like 6 big chances in the match, all WASTED! Chukwueze, Osayi-Samuel, Lookman, Moses Simon, Iwobi, Ndidi... BIG CHANCES! BIG CHANCES! The one Osimhen scored was just pure fighter's instinct, not every striker will score that, no cap. He could've easy rammed his head into that crossbar. We move.
4. If we took our chances, Zimbabwe scoring one goal will not be news here, even if it was just 2–1. Our attack let us down, not Éric Chelle.
5. Chukwueze should not be invited again or he should be given a seatbelt on the bench and someone else take his place in the team.
6. The Super Eagles is my only club, but at this point, I give up on any useless World Cup dream. I'm damn disappointed. We played well, but wasting chances cost us this game, not Troost-Ekong, not Éric Chelle, not the midfielders, THE ATTACKERS! THE ATTACKERS!
7. Osayi and Ndidi that even missed chances can be forgiven because they are not strikers... All these forwards that in the next few days we'll be reporting their goals and assists here, what happened to them against freaking Zimbabwe?
8. Make Éric Chelle warn Nwabali make he stop that stupid laughter wey he dey laugh when we dey lead just 1–0, I was damn scared here remembering how he laughed in the AFCON final and we lost, baba still dey do the same thing for must-win match. He's the best goalkeeper we have now and his workings are showing, but that attitude dey childish, why he no laugh again as he concede?
9. Make we just focus on AFCON abeg. This one is gone. It's f**king gone! Headache, fever and everything just hit me immediately Zimbabwe score yesterday. I'm emotionally drained from this match. I just dey offline since yesterday. Guy you finish work, Lookman should be talked to or dropped if he can’t work with his fellow strikers, he even shined in Afcon through an assist from osihmen. At least let’s get one or two goals before you begin to go solo, it’s looking as if because osihmen got two goals in Rwanda he wanted to get on the score sheet by all means in uyo. One shot he had in the first half should have been a cross to osihmen. I like Lookman but he needs some talking to by the coaches. I feel it’s the reason Boniface is also struggling in that set up. When I said some time ago that Boniface and Lookman should lock up themselves in a room and talk I was mocked here. Thank you for the article especially for those who keep blaming the coach and nff for clear and begging chances that were missed in the game. The Zimbabweans were on the platter for real slaughter but our players messed everyone up. Nonsense! |

Mujtahida: My brother. Even till date if you watch those matches you go get goosebumps. Naija play ball. Many people say we weren't scoring many goals. So how man goals we for score? We are just an arrogant people, the last time we were in the Afcon final before 2024 was in 2013, a whole decade ago, a coach came and took us to the final. We say na haram football we dey play, even our so-called ex-players were just making all sorts of noise, including those who never played in an Afcon final, all calling for the head of the coach as if he killed someone, some people then said even if he wins the Afcon he should be sacked because of his haram football, shebi we know where we dey now. ok, now we have an attacking-minded coach, we are complaining he didn't put enough bodies to defend his goal, what exactly do we want? You attack, na problem, you defend double wahala! |

chrisooblog: To be fair na the same Aina for LB give Osimhen assist for him goal. Aina is a true professional who rose to the occasion where our traditional wingers failed; all these excuses of being played out of position don't cut it for me, conceding at the 90th minute has nothing to do with being played out of position. Everyone, irrespective of position, should keep things tidy in the dying minutes. |

Dannyxy: light mentality is so huge in football but we undermine it a lot in Africa, mentality is what feeds character, and any team that would win anything must have it, for a long time the mentality of the super eagles as a bunch has been so inconsistent, only little flashes here and there, but the super eagles and Nigeria as a whole does not have a winners mentality right now, and we do not have character.
Infact only few African teams have that mentality, every game is a World Cup final, every game is worth something once you play in your national team, this is the mentality of the European and South Americans, that’s why they are winning the World Cup, yes there is talent, but then a huge part is mentality and character, we need to build it as an F.A, as a country and as a continent, else World Cup will be just be to go sign attendance.
And only Morocco in Africa as at now can do well at the world cup again if it should start today. Going by all that you have been saying, not more than 5 players are currently mentally fit to be in the National team. |

Dannyxy: This losses and draws are psychological, and this team does not know how to win in front of their fans, they play with less pressure away and do better. We must tackle this issue going forward. I don’t feel it’s about tactics or players, and if NFF doesn’t realize this, 10 years from now, we will still struggle even if we have world best on our team with pep as our coach. We probably have to carry our home games to another country then Perhaps it's a spiritual problem cos I don't understand anymore Jokes apart, the players themselves are the problem; anyone not brave enough to play for the national team with all their might and strength should be excused, period. |

Mujtahida: No but I doubt his tactical know how. This is too early bruv, though I felt he committed too many men forward especially in the first half as a better opposition in counter attack would have hurt us. This a coach with an attacking philosophy which is what most Nigerians want, defensively he may not be top notch and that’s where our experienced players should come in to help the team. |

opes: Zimbabwe defenders were all on Osimhen. Immediately he was substituted, they started going forward and attacking. Chelle should have brought in Yusuf, even Aribo to protect the lead instead of bringing in Boniface. Same mistake he made twice against Ghana when they scored his team 2 late goals in each half. We can blame the coach for all we can but conceding in the 90th minute is unforgivable by any standard and the fact that this has happened under different coaches shows we have a bigger problem. I was never sold on Chelle cos I felt we could let Finidi go why Chelle especially when we saw what he did at Afcon but we were all enthusiastic because we saw him as an attacking minded coach which is what most Nigerians want to see all the time. |

And then to repeat the same thing yesterday is unpardonable. I doubt Chelle's tactical nous.
Aina is the best RB in the EPL. Why manage him as a left back and play a mediocre Osayi as RB? Wouldn't it have been better to play Aina as a RB and enjoy maximum performance from him and then play Bruno who is also good in joining the attack on the left?
As long as we continue to play players out of position, things like these will continue to happen Are we going to sack Chelle now? |
