Odunayaw: These ones are with their own hands building a case against themselves. Now they cannot claim "unforeseen circumstance" anymore CAF is the one on trial here, they will have to judge if Libya was right in taking matters into their own hands by retaliating more dangerously. How many hours were they held hostage in Nigeria? I have said it before until CAF moves its headquarters away from North Africa, we ain't getting out of the woods. This also shows Nigeria made a good decision by evacuating the players, imagine the FA still having that kind of mind after the Eagles have left. omo na wa o |

JohnBullMySon: You’re making it sound like they were kidnapped.
Anyways my point is, this is football mischief on steroids but it shouldn’t be escalated to become a sort of diplomatic row. Summoning the consulate and involving foreign affairs, isn’t good for optics, if that is something African countries even care about btw. Case closed. People were not even allowed to step out of the airport to go look for their transport and accommodation you're asking if they were kidnapped. na wa for you o, if the foreign affairs or consulate were not involved, they would never be allowed to leave that airport, you're here talking about optics. Let me just agree you're entertaining us to relieve stress from all the fiasco |

JohnBullMySon: You don’t get it. Some navigational charts have already coded them as international airports with full customs services.
When publicly available information is saying one thing and officials are saying another, in this kind of situation, it is natural to suspect foul play. And you think it’s only in Nigeria such happens? Why do you think some countries insist one must land in a particular airport for immigration purposes and clearance, Libya didn’t get their plans right. And when they were told Uyo couldn’t receive them don’t they have enough educated people among them or back in their country to explain properly to them without reading any foul play? Are they the first team to play in uyo? This is clearly simple misunderstanding on their own part first thing they should have checked is if the eagles themselves flew into Uyo directly and see if Nigeria was mischievous. All what they are saying in the media is that we allowed them land 200km away from the match venue, was that in any way intentional from us? |

JohnBullMySon: I think I now get where this whole animosity started from. Yes most likely they were refused any sort of clearance to fly to Uyo. Uyo airport is not an international airport so FAA won’t permit any flights from outside the country. No Customs no immigration.
If they came on a chartered plane, they could have just done the lap from port harcourt to Uyo after passing through customs.
Some of our airports erroneously labeled ‘international airport’ might have caused this problem. Not an excuse for their stupidity, will they have tried nonsense with a European country if they were not cleared to land at a particular airport? We Africans need to borrow more sense we are just too full of disrespect for ourselves. Yet we complain about the continent not living up to higher standards. These guys are just plain bullies, is it not for their own safety they were not cleared to land in uyo that lacked the status to receive their arrival? Are they all illiterates? don’t they have advisers to explain to them the status of Uyo airport. You’re coming to my house, I told you your car can’t get close because it’s not motorable will I manufacture another road for you so you come by force? The eagles themselves that come from Europe do their flights directly land in uyo? Libya Dey craze for head including CAF who can’t coordinate themselves |

It's a highly diplomatic matter, any side that's punished will make CAF look partial and if they punish both sides, it won't make sense either as that can never be seen as a deterrent rather CAF should see it as an opportunity to strengthen its rules, especially for teams who think they can win in the boardroom and not on the pitch that's when it will make sense.
CAF should also try to monitor team arrivals at airports so as to get firsthand info themselves instead of relying on social media evidence. Africa am sorry is still backward on many matters so to assume people will always be right all the time is too much assumption. If they need to put more funds into employing people to do this monitoring they should do so for the development of the game. |

Make I borrow Libya small sense, they messed up by delaying the players at the airport. All they needed to do to collect whatever revenge was not to delay the boys at the airport, First they already had that isakaba bus already, make sure the seats are not even enough make the eagles lap themselves and take them to a yeye hotel, then off light by midnight make the boys sweat small, then carry them go yeye pitch to train and to play the match.
The idea is simple, once the players are already in the country they have no choice but to play the match but once you held them at the airport you gave intelligent and oyinbo folks like Ekong to shout hostage situation and no European club will never want to hear that their player is being held unecessary against their will. Libya no get sense. Better luck next time. phew |

TheSuperNerd: What is worse than Libya's horror show is some Nigerians taking their side in the matter saying they are justified because Nigeria treated them badly first.
I have done my checks and even the issue of Libya's arrival in PH and hide and seek games was discussed in the media by Ademola Olajire, NFF Head of Communications. Toyin Ibitoye (former Super Eagles Media Officer) anchored that News Central show.
The Libyans were being difficult and pushed a false narrative manipulatively with pictures which are actually a result of their own decisions, refusal to communicate and refusal to accept help from the NFF with respect to reaching Uyo.
We have never had that reputation of being bad hosts, it's teams who know they can't compete with us on the field that come up with these schemes and it's high time nff begins to make public all arrangements they normally make for host teams to avoid these chickens and cowards of nations who can't compete when they come to Nigeria to play. The see finish is becoming too much |

This issue has international dimensions with our foreign-based players who are employees of foreign clubs with some being dual citizens.
A lot is going on behind the scenes., trust me.
We are "outsiders" and its unfair to assume that the presidency is not involved at this point. The Libyans overdid this one and they will pay for it seriously. They forgot that dual citizenship part of which Captain Ekong is one. They underrated the influence of our players in the international sphere of things. Humility33, perhaps you should free Gusau and Enoh on this one. They are doing all they can and some action steps are already being taken.
The NFF is incompetent in other areas, yes but not in this matter. Omo... it is crazy out there. This is why the game in Africa will never develop, it's been a trend for smaller teams in Africa to use these antics against stronger sides by playing victims all the time even when there is no need. I remember the Kenya national team many years ago when they came to Nigeria for a wcq they intentionally went to a primary school bare ground field to train and create the impression we were a bad host. When we play stronger sides you normally won't see all these antics because they know they can match us home and away.
It's high time countries in Africa decide if they want to play football, the game is not for chickens and cowards, if you know you can't compete kindly withdraw from the competition, this will continue sadly until CAF begins to spelt our penalties if they can for teams who come up with antics with their host even when the evidence shows otherwise. |
