The Spanish national team after enjoying 3 back to back trophies with tika tika have imbibed pragmatism in their game.

12 years trophylessness done reset their brain.
the way this euro is going, beautiful play alone cannot take you far, it was beautiful play that caused the first goal to be conceded by the Belgians when Doku (Guardiola boy) wan overdo,

The Dutch national team are labeled underachievers but their 1974 side has the most documentaries made about them.

I got to know of them from a beautiful documentary that was so brilliant.

We are never going to see documentaries and tales of many world cup winning teams. But until tomorrow, that Oranje team will be celebrated and they did not win the World Cup.
The Dutch as a nation will prefer titles to documentaries, that one o am sure of

If you use this game, you will say it worked but in the next two to three years, you will see that the Ukrainians will clearly succeed more than them.

That is the point I am trying to pass.
funny enough the Dutch who invented or made tiki-taka popular are yet to win the World Cup, your theory no enter

TheGoodJoe:

I think in the end there is a misconception about what really Masters. In tournaments, statements actually live longer than winning titles.

Let me explain further.

Germany's 7-1 demolition of Brazil will live longer than Italy carrying the World Cup. Note that Germany won their own World Cup but the 7-1 demolition stays longer in the memory and will be replayed longer.

Also, the Dutch 1974 side will be remembered longer than even France winning 1998 world cup. There are people that have the frames of that team and coaching schools teaching off those tapes.

Finally, the Brazilian team of Spain 82 side is still remembered and celebrated than many teams that won the World Cup.

I believe statements and impacts last longer than winning cups. To achieve statements is to grow as a team.
Not true, winning titles is the ultimate, the Spanish team for all their beautiful play came more into the reckoning when they won the World Cup. The Dutch National team till tomorrow are labeled as 'underachievers', that's what their beautiful play has fetched them

You can't grow up you are not learning. There is a reason why domination happens by those who have mastered how to play well.

The Romanians might celebrate tonight but with time, the Ukrainians will do better because they have chosen to grow.
are you saying nothing is learned apart from the possession pattern of play? haba something too has worked for the Romanians today and it's also part of their learning

TheGoodJoe:
Why?

The Ukrainian play was crisp and tidy. Tactically sound. They just need to build on it and with time fix the leaking puzzle.

What I noticed is the gap from their creative midfield and pivot. This created room for the Romanians to press and win the ball in the midfield. I think a tighter box midfield will help them transition better.

Think growth, not winning a game. Interesting to see how they progress.
they are in a tournament, and no one will remember their crisp and tidy play by the time they are out. I also think keeping it simple at times enhances growth

'Bro... Ukraine is the better team here. What they played today shows their long term plan is close to being achieved. Even though, they lost today, they're building towards something great and very soon, the results will start showing. Long term plan is what matters. Tikitaka is the basis of long term development in football and Ukraine are on the right path'.

What nonsense is this? 😢

Romania all the way abeg. Go dey pass ball upandan when your defense is crap and leaky. I'll keep saying perfect possession football is sweeter when you have a solid backline that can do their primary duty without relying more on more bodies rushing back to help. Till then sha.

The elective process into State Federations which eventually make up the leadership of the NFF mirrors the one of the country's polity. The most clueless and incompetent rise to the top to vie for positions.

I think as a matter of urgency all genuine lovers of Nigerian football and its stakeholders need to seriously find ways of getting elected enmasse into state FAs.

Not sure if they are provisions in the NFF act that are blocking people with ambition and high level skills from contesting as NFF president.
my dear football in Nigeria is still a social service and in shackles with the govt, until it's seen as a business like the entertainment sector before we can truly reap the full reward

The funny thing is that the African teams that do beat us or hold us to a draw use this tactic most times to ensure their result and they jubilate but it's always a taboo for us to do the same, what did SA even play in the second half of both the afcon and the wcq to ensure the draw they got?

I have to admit I am not England's Biggest fan.

My favorite NTs remain Nigeria, Brazil, Netherlands and Morocco. It has not changed.

But you see this present English side? It is exciting to be honest. TAA in midfield is also a decision I am keen to monitor tactically.
they are an exciting team for sure, honestly, I want them to win the tournament if they can. No beef
