Gajagojo: We have different priorities I do not think we should go to the World Cup because we don't have good enough players That is exactly the same place we were in 1989 when Clemence Westerhof came to Nigeria. We did not qualify for the 1990 World Cup and his beginning was a series of disastrous losses but we were patient and REALISTIC Many youngsters seek instant gratification without work. Without significantly better players We will be disgraced if we go to the World Cup We cannot defend. So why deceiving ourselves that we are entitled to winning like it is a right?
We should just use the qualifiers as an opportunity to build not deceive ourselves We are not that good. You say build? When Nigerians want to see tiki taka I laugh in Zulu. |

TheSuperNerd: Watching Ismaila in Jersey #2 makes me wonder how we fell from Jose Peseiro's "Efficient Haram" to this Finidi's disjointed and deceptively beautiful nonsense.
Not like Peseiro's was okay but at least, he was results-driven until the haram became exposed.
We had a chance to give this job to a proper local coach who knows his stuff but nooooo... Let's give it to Finidi for the "sake of continuity".
Please point out the "continuity". Allowing Paseiro leave was a mistake no matter how bad we think he was we have made him look better with our current results. Let’s begin to look at ourselves in the mirror there were things both Paseiro and Rohr got right can we please go back to what right thing they did and build from there? This our arrogance na express e don carry us go o |

The team is playing better than yesterday but two defensive goofs and we are down. It’s not like Benin has been creating chance after chance. We just defended badly in two instances and got punished for it.

Ndidi was the main culprit for both goals. Bassey coming second. Finidi can only select the team and do his best tactically. It is left for those players to show they want it more. I think we were in a hurry bring in ndidi back to this team, we already had a blended midfield from the Afcon, if dude was not fully fit why risk him |

Africa’s football governing body, the Confederation of African Football (CAF) has revealed that the Video Assistant Referee (VAR) will not be used in the FIFA World Cup qualifiers across the continent, Platinumnewsng.com is reporting
CAF announced on Wednesday that the Video Assistant Referee (VAR) will not be in use for the upcoming round of world cup qualifiers.
The reason for this decision remains undisclosed. However, unavailability of the VAR technology in some match venues to be used across the continent is a major cause of concern.
Nigeria, one of the participating countries, is set to kick off the qualifiers by hosting Lesotho’s Crocodile at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium in Uyo before facing Mozambique.
Source platinum news.
So it is not the duty of NFF which I erroneously interjected as NFF fault. Very bad oversight on my part. Apologies The same CAF that carried VAR on their heads during Afcon as if they are the one that manufactured it A big Shame! |

BankyGee: No matter how anybody wants to turn and twist any English or huffs and puffs grammar, Victor Osimhen is the lifeline of our Super Eagles team. There are other good strikers, but how many of them are performing exceptionally in his absence. He's still the only world-class number 9 that we have whether you like it or not.
Three world cup qualifiers without Osimhen, 1 all draws, we lost the first half in all of them; First game 🆚 Lesotho a defender equalized - Ajayi 67' Second game 🆚 Zimbabwe a striker equalized - Iheanacho 67' Third game 🆚 South Africa a midfielder equalized - Bashiru 47'
Only one striker scored in three games! That tame header that Onuachu gifted Williams, Osimhen's headers goes almost with the same force as his legs! I remember that Angola game, where the keeper pointed the ball but it still forced its way into the net, a header!
Even if he doesn't score, he must pave the way for others to score. I think since he became our top 9, the Super Eagles have only lost two games he played in (I stand to be corrected) 0–1 🆚 Guinea-Bissau (2023) 2–1 🆚 Ivory Coast (2024) That guy's mentality alone can start while he sits on the bench.
Over all; Our team is good, Finidi George is still under scrutiny, we will still qualify for the World Cup (95%) With a Victor in the game yesterday we’ll get a penalty or two. Dude brings something into that attack others can’t which is ‘fear and dread’ the other strikers do not frighten defenders at all |

Kukutente23: Is regionalism an economic solution or a political solution? Cause if you're looking at it from the point of economy, given our present realities, it's even worse. Presently, we have six regions not the three we had in the 60s. Out of the six only two are viable at least based on statistics i.e. SS and SW. The rest are seriously lagging behind in terms of development. On the other hand, if we say we embrace regionalism as an economic solution, what do you think will be the economic potential of the north central? North East nko? If the northern regions want to export, will they pay the Southern regions for export and imports or will it be the other way round? I can tell you boldly that in terms of economy, this present structure is better off. The larger an economic unit, the more complex it is solving its economic questions especially if the unit is resource dependent like we are. I can assure you if we embrace regionalism there will be realignment and we are likely to even have more than 10 regions than the those scam of six geopolitical zones we have now, every zone potentially is viable, it’s the scam we called states that are not viable, when there is realignment then you will see people begin unleash those resources, the entire north has several mineral resources and deposits they can tap from to create wealth but only resource control can help them generate that wealth, the SE has abundance of gas deposits so why can’t they control their resources to creat prosperity for themselves. All I see is laziness from the feeding bottle system we have practiced for so long and only a fool continues to do what is not working and has never worked. |

Kukutente23: 1. US does not have regions. US actually have states. States is not a matter of population but the system of govt. 2. UK does not have regions as well. UK has cities and boroughs which make up each country within it. Each country is independent and are united by choice not by law. iii. As I've been saying, youths today are poor students of history. Regionalism never solved the local govt issues you're pointing at. In fact, within the regions, there were agitations and cries of marginalisation. 4. Boko Haram is not a local govt issue. A local govt anywhere in the world cannot be equipped to fight a terrorist group that went as far as Mauritius to train its men and got weapons from Libya. 5. If states are not viable, what makes you think LGs are viable? Your states are not viable cos they don’t have enough human or capital resources to fend for themselves, the bigger the better, we can continue to deceive ourselves but how many states can even pay regular salaries to their over bloated civil service can’t we read the handwriting on the wall? States like ekiti and Osun are not even viable how will they develop with the current system of govt we are practising There was a time local government worked in this country where even textbooks were not even sold but given free to students in primary and secondary schools and that was a fallout of the regional govt in the past, I wonder what history you’re talking about, some of us were old enough to see local government authorities worked in the past. With resource control which I know many of you are running from the regions will work, even the marginalisation you’re talking about who is in the best position to handle that than local governments, have your states stopped marginalisation or agitations? |
Politics › Re: Reps Disown Trending Draft Bill Seeking Return To Regional Government by Goke7: 11:12am On Jun 01, 2024 |
Those thinking restructuring can only work with the states are not realistic, currently a lot of states are not even financially viable and can’t survive without FG allocation, secondly the greatest scam in our polity is what we called state govt for as long as you have state govt no local govt will have autonomy cos the state will oppose it hence the local govt can never be functional which is why we have security issues as most of our security issues are local government based from boko haram to banditry where they operate in places local government is non existent.
Those who make comparison to America don’t know that what you call states in America are actually regions as Texas alone has a population of 30 million people. If you want local government to be functional then you have to get rid of the states which are the greatest hinderance to our development imagine states cornering all the local governments funds. The local governments will thrive better in a regional system like you have in the UK, US and other western or advanced nations |

netmillionaires: It will amaze you to know that the people arguing in support of state are only doing it so that Lagos will not go to the Yorubas. They failed to realize that even if Nigeria is divided on the basis of state, yoruba land/states, including Lagos will always collaborate with each other. They actually don’t want restructuring don’t be deceived. When the matter goes into debate you will be shocked at those who will oppose it. There can be no restructuring without resource control and that’s where the problem is, only the SW and SS are truly ready others are just jokers |
