Bro during the last AFCON, I was watching a South African football channel on YouTube live as they were doing watchalong for the NGA vs SA semi final game that we later won on penalties. One Nigerian called into the show when we were 2-0 up just before the VAR check that cancelled our goal and led to the equalizing penalty.

If you see the way the guy was smarting that day, talking about the team's tactics and all.
Obviously he was bragging in the face of our opps, but I felt like he was talking too much about our squad's weakness. Although to be honest, no be that one wey vex me that day. The guy went ahead to say that Osimhen is overrated and the poorest player in the team.

Nigerians are their own worst enemy. Not only do they talk way more than they should for their own good, they're all too happy to say rubbish about their own country and trash it even when there's no good reason to or it's not necessary. It's frustrating to see.
We gan are the problem always validating what these fools say every foreign pundit I have watched so far has described the Nigerian team as the best in tournament but it’s still our own people that will spend time glorifying all the weaknesses of the team.

For your mental sanity always watch what foreign analysts say concerning our play that’s the only time you get to see more objective analysis

Dont even want any of these 3 guys picking yellows.

We play on the front foot, try to control the game and it is the moroccans who will pick the yellows more than us. I hope Ref Dan Laryea will not be diabolical today.

I think allowing FDB stay longer in training in that midfield diamond is Chelle preparing for the worst - Injuries during the game which will require changes.

He tested Nnadi, Onyedika and FDB right. He is considering all options and going through all choice angles.

But I pray we dont have injury issues today.
We still have depth in the squad just hoping the substitutions are in the right order cos we shouldn’t be seeing a Simon coming in for a defensive midfielder. Chelle abeg o

TheSuperNerd:
It surely will be. And I think some folks worried that Morocco are anticipating Onyedika as replacement are overthinking it. They should not be. Anticipating him does not make them fully prepared for him. Algeria's Pletkovic anticipated the same lineup we used vs Mozambique. The very same... that still didnt stop us.
Personally, I see no better way to adapt in Ndidi's absence. Onyedika has to step in centrally while Onyeka keeps his tasking role.
Nnadi is good but inexperienced for such a game. Akinsanmiro is good and really talented but inexperienced for such a game.
FDB is more of an attacking midfield player, not a CDM. He's also manageable at CM but we need specialist CMs and CDMs today to execute their roles flawlessly unless he plays to specialist instructions and does his job right in both offensive and defensive transitions.

The key battles in this game, aside the middle, will most likely be fought on the side where Hakimi and Brahim Diaz for Morocco are which is also same side where Bruno is & where Iwobi operates nearby. Thankfully Bassey is the LCB so Bruno has the beastly cover needed.

Our Central CDM will be expected to provide tactical support when needed on that side.
I think the first 30 minutes will be key for whoever steps in I just hope Chelle won’t make panicky substitutions cos he’s also too wary when things don’t quickly go the way he wants! Whoever is replacing Ndidi by now the players should be used to him for proper blending

In Osimhen's latest interview with Mimi Fawaz of CBS news, he praised Peseiro. If Osimhen who experienced Peseiro praised him, that is enough for me.
It’s not that Paseiro suddenly started playing haram football, it was just necessity to get results. If paseiro had won Afcon all these talk of haram or overloading the players will never be mentioned. He will simply had become an hero. Results at the end define any coach whether he plays fancy football or not!

Been musing over this. It is possible. If FDB does start, this means, Onyeka will likely be pushed to the Main CDM role with instructions to stay put, screen the defence and track dangers while FDB double pivots & RCMs. We will see shaa but there possibilities.
I just hope we manage this Ndidi absence properly, it will be key in this game!

Bro... I just read a post not long ago that's similar to this. The guy was talking about the recent Alonso sack. He cited Flick as an example of a coach who is not just a coach but a father figure to the players. Reason why he commands the respect of the players. There was this picture of Raphina (a hot headed guy BTW) going to meet Flick on the bench. Alonso didn't really have that aura, reason why some Madrid players didn't play for him or respect him.

I think Chelle really tried in that aspect. He first built a family before building a team. That's part of the reasons for our recent successes in this AFCON.
Again reason our ex players or local coaches find it difficult coaching our senior national team. Power distance remains an issue with them!

Lolll anything other than an AFCON win won't humble that 94 set. Goal Records na individual but winning a title is a teams pride my bro
We won an Afcon in 2013, did it humble them? Na that individual record be the thing gan gan, they just believe no other player can be greater than them!

oh! Sorry to come in, right from the issue osimhen got with finidi the whole 1994 set has that dislike for him they can't show it out because osimhen has beat everybody expectations.

I was watching soccer Africa during the world Cup qualifier and the anchor was like " Nigeria got there world Cup qualification on track thanks to osimhen" Not the exact verbatim but something like that and idah peterside brush it aside as if the name osimhen is irritating to him then went further to talk about the team in general.
The striker's audacity is their problem; power distance is still a major issue in our society, and I think this is why our local coaches will continue to find it difficult to coach the national team, and they forget that the future generation will not be different; in fact, their audacity will be more.

He praised Lookman. In fact he was insinuating that Lookman wasn't happy that's why he didn't shine in the last match and that we should make Lookman happy. I was like Lookman that was jumping all over Osimhen?

He lavished praise on Akor and Bassey. On Osimhen, he just glossed over the guy's performance.

I like Oliseh very much but I see why he can't make a good coach for Nigeria. He's somebody that will polarize the team. Remember how he sidelined Obi Mikel.
All you said now is also what I observed and watched, and I was not in any way surprised. Oliseh and his fellow 94 set goons will also never forgive Osihmen with his outburst with Finidi. They just feel no Nigerian must have the audacity to talk to or about them.

This is why I want Osihmen to shatter Yekini's record, whether we win Afcon or not. The 94 set needs to be humbled, finally, that Nigeria can and will produce far better players outside their generation. That set has issues with vocal Nigerian players, they think makes them feel small inside, including the late Keshi that I adore so much, and they usually cover their insecurity by saying that no one can be bigger than Nigeria, meanwhile, they themselves, both in their days and now, cannot take the shit they give out. Phew!

Osihmen shattering Yekini's record will give him an everlasting Legendary status that the 94 set will forever be envious of, as he will now steal more of the spotlight as an Eagles GOAT going forward, even after retiring from the Eagles. Can't wait to witness this grin

How much optimism is too much optimism?.. because the way many people both here and on X are so confident we'll bulldoze Morocco tomorrow, I sha hope we won't be in for a rude surprise. grin
Most foreign pundits are giving the match to Nigeria. I think the Algeria match shocked most people; one even said we don't know which Nigerian team will turn up tomorrow. Those who think otherwise are justifying their reason based on Morocco being the host and the crowd behind them. Besides that, despite having Brahi Diaz, most think the Morroccans may be blown out easily by the Eagles; I am even shocked with what I am hearing grin
