I had same concerns before buying a C300. I’ve only needed to change brake pads, and regular maintenance like oil change and plugs. Funny enough I bought it as Nigerian used that was imported since 2018.

If you ever need to buy a Benz, talk to actual owners on their experiences. There’s a lot of misconception about cost of Benz maintenance in Nigeria.

I had similar experience with my c300. I was jump starting my car everyday. Called a rewire to check, and charged the battery outside the car.

I also noticed that my tail light sometimes turns on while the car was off.


I later discovered that the light switch was drawing current in the off position.

I now set the switch to Auto. Battery wahala ended.

If a car can start the alternator will charge the battery fully ! If your battery or alternator is bad it will display on the dash


Go and trace the virus,..that's what it is called it drains battery it might be a simple thing but trace it

I believe the first step is to make sure the battery is in good condition, then we can go ahead to trace any parasitic draw if the battery still runs down.

A battery charger took out my battery to charge and put in a temporary battery. It’s been working fine so far.

I’ll put back my battery after a full charge to observe before taking further action.

That said. how long have you had this battery? Are you sure its not an age problem? These batteries are dry cell and can only last for so long

I called a rewire, and he suggested that I take the battery out and charge it fully, then observe.

I only drive the car over the weekend, so the battery is probably not well charged.

there are story of missing items catalyst etc. everywhere. especially when you will have to leave the car with them

😃 Thanks for the suggestions. I read about mechs stealing catalyst before getting the car, so I made sure to stay with the mechanic till he was done. I’ve also scanned it, catalyst is intact.

Buy the facelift. It's significantly better inside.

Check suspension, AC, electronics, starter motor, and the other usual inspection points.

I have an E550 Coupe which is built on the W204 platform. Most issues I've had have been electrical (battery drain, starter motor, alternator). All around the 100k like mark.

Your rent should be between 500-700k max. Get a room self and setup your workspace inside. With 400k salary in Lagos, you have no business living in a 2bed apartment.

Cut down on your car expenses. You are chasing comfort too soon. Focus on growing your career/salary . Use public transport if possible.
If your car get serious fault na express way to debt.

When I was earning 300k I shared apartment with 2 of my friends for 2yrs, which helped me since we were splitting bills. My share of the annual rent was less than 350k.

Don’t live your life to impress any one. Las las dem go still laugh you if you no fit meet up.

Also remember that the financier is edging against Nigerian inflation over a 4yr period. Which is a lot of time knowing how volatile the Naira can be.

Personally I wouldn’t take such loan. I avoid any loan that I can’t repay within a year period.
