Do you say I am a kid - a septuagenarian?

Kid, i give up!

Go and banter with your mates.

I won't waste my Time educating you on 1966 putsch.

Bye
grin

I repeat,I am older than your father and your mother.
Go and brush up your knowledge of Nigeria history by reading goid books. From your comments it is obvious that your knowledge is quite kindergarten and you have no idea of what you are trying to discuss.

Kewekubosineh:
You think everybody on nairaland is your age mate?

Note that I witnessed the civil war. No stories. Unlike you Who are new generation breed.

So, stop challenging me. We're not mates. I witnessed the civil war and my narration is factual.

I will come to educate you on Decree 34 soon.
I can see I am wasting my time here. I repeat I am older thsn your parents. Go and brush up on your smattering of Nigeria history by reading goid history books. It is obvious you lack the knowledge to debate the topic in question.

Kewekubosineh:
You don't comment on issues you know little about.

Aguiyi ironsi wasn't tribalistic, but was trying to build a new nation reeling from January 15 coup. Unfortunately, centrifugal forces set in and put paid his ambition.

The northern officers in cahoots with emirs and community leaders instigated pogroms which ultimately consumed the nation. The follow up was civil war and total conflagration of Nigerian state.

You were not born in then. So, stop your posturing.

What led to the pogrom still playing out today.
Kid,
I was born then.
In fact I am quite sure I am older than your father.
You are just over zealous and mixing up different events. Go and buy good history books and brush up your little knowledge before trying to engage me about Nigeria history.
PoliticsRe: Aguiyi-ironsi And His Four Military Governors - Picture by Goosethetruth(m): 3:01pm On Mar 01
Kewekubosineh:
Ok.

Now, what do you say of Tinubu's regime where virtually strategic appointments are skewed in favor of Yorubas?

I have said you know nothing about 1966 coup, except fable tales from your parents.

Ask questions before you come to public domain to yarn lies and falsehood.
Stop thinking everybody on Nairaland ifs your age mate. Some of us lived through these events.
Now telk me the content of Decree 34 of 1966.
Did Decree 34 of 1966 abolish the regions and centralise government under Aguiyi Ironsi or not?
PoliticsRe: Aguiyi-ironsi And His Four Military Governors - Picture by Goosethetruth(m): 7:22pm On Feb 28
gidgiddy:
So if Ironsi abolished the Region's, what were Fajuyi, Ojukwu, Katsina and Ejoor governing the day Ironsi was killed?
When you tell me the details of Decree 34 of 1966 or post a screen shot of it,I will tell you what Ojukwu?Katsina,Fajuyi and Ejoor were doing.
It doesn't change thr fact that Ironsi was an alcoholic, beer guzzling tribalist whose agenda was promotion of a tribalistic Ibo hegemony. A mere glance at the composition of Ironsi's cabinet tells the harsh story.
PoliticsRe: Aguiyi-ironsi And His Four Military Governors - Picture by Goosethetruth(m): 5:28pm On Feb 28
gidgiddy:
On January 17th 1966, Major General Aguiyi-Ironsi assumed power and appointed four military Governors to govern each of the four Regions Nigeria was then made up of at the time. They were:

Lt Col Adekunle Fajuyi- Western Region

Lt Col David Ejoor - Midwest Region

Lt Col Chukwuemeka Ojukwu - Eastern Region

Major Usman Katsina - Nothern Region

All 4 men governed their respective Regions with Ironsi as military head of State until July 29th 1966 when Ironsi and Fajuyi were killed. Gowon would take over, and replaced the dead Fajuyi with Colonel Adebayo. The four Regions would continue until May 27th 1967 when Gowon abolished all 4 Regions, and replaced them with 12 states. This action would make Ojukwu declare the Eastern Region as the Republic of Biafra

Whenever anyone tells you that Ironsi abolished the Regions, ask them what Regions were Fajuyi, Ojukwu, Katsina and Ejoor were governing the day Ironsi died
After a long break, you are back with your falsehood agenda and propaganda.
You have always shown yourself to be a propaganndist, gaslighter and an enabler of terror on these boards.
Decree 34 of 1966 abolished the regions and centralised everything under Ironsi. It was the begining of centrslisation of everything under Ironsi's tribalistic regime. Check what Ironsi did in the Universities of Lagos and Ibadan. It was total cultural, and educational subjugation and annihilation of the Yoruba in the name of Federalism.
Stop trying to rewrite history please.

Yeah - his Demeanour and Charisma fits a club of our status.

Particularly impressed with the way he answered the question regarding Ugarte.

No derogatory comments, no subtle dig...just positive vibes.
He knows Ugarte is not a good player but he is intelligent enough not to throw him under the bus. That is man management. Players appreciate managers like this. This is totally opposite of his predecessor who consistently threw all his players under the bus.
Looking forward to the Crystal Palace game with total optimism. Another 3 points should move the team into third place on the table.

We need to come out with intent, pin them in their own half, and put the game to bed early.

A 2–0 lead by halftime should be the standard in these kinda fixture.

By the 65th minute, Zirkzee, Fletcher and Heaven should be getting minutes to keep their sharpness and match rhythm.

Mehn...I miss when this was our norm.

Hopefully we have finally turned the corner
You may like to listen to words from the horse's mouth. A very humble and unassuming man who knows how to man manage his football team with simplicity.

Arteta's satanic influence angry
This is just crazy. Influenced by Tony Pulis and Mikel Arteta and adopted by David Moyes.
Senne Lammens said he isn't usually bothered by these kind of tactics but yesterday was the limit. He was being forced to defend corner kicks from inside his net because of the number of Everton players standing on his goal line and around him.
The English FA have to do something about this because it is getting ridiculous. Goalkeepers should be protected from such rough end tactics in their goal area.

Last week I watched a game where the players of an attacking team were running around the opposing goal keeper in circular motion to distract him while taking a corner kick. It needed to be seen to be believed. Totally preposterous.

I am so glad United were able to defend resolutely and come away with the three points and keep a clean sheet despite the Everton rough hand tactics.
Kudos to Jonathan Woodgate for instilling that defensive hard core into this team and Kudos to Senne Lammens. He has the potential to be a world class keeper that saves the team 10 points per season.
On to the next game against Creystal Palace at home on Sunday.
Let's go United!!!

European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga)Re: Tottenham Hotspur Vs Arsenal (1 - 4) On 22nd February 2026 by Goosethetruth(m): 8:09pm On Feb 22
What I took from this match is the simple fact that this Igor Tudor is going to get Tottenham relegated playing 3 at the back in the Premier league. While Arsenal were imperial and miles better,it was obvious that the Tottenham players are at sea with their new manager’s tactics.

Newcastle European football is within your reach, do whatever it takes to try and qualify. Every point counts!

On a serious note, i don't see man city losing or drawing to Newcastle tonight. Newcastle played in the midweek, they may not be as in form as city that rested all week. But it's football, anything can happen.
If Bottleteta and his Stoke city team had done their jobs, you wouldn't be here hoping that Newcastle should do you a favour and do the job for Arsenal.
How a team can play like a Tony Pulis team and bottle a one horse title race is mind boggling and needs to be studied.
Nairaland GeneralRe: This topic has been removed by Goosethetruth(m):
The problem of most people is their dogmatic refusal to listen to other views. Most times these,"other views" are actually intelligent and correct but because of ingrained, programed religious ideology from birth and fear of the threatened eternal damnation in an unending fire, and general dogma they refuse to listen or even consider any views divergent to what is written in their religious books.
Mere research shows these books contrary to dogma are not the words of any god, rather these books consist ot the words and thoughts of fellow men, cleverly masquraded as words of a percieved god. Most of these stories are merely based on fables and myths from earlier times.
Most of these books are anonymously written by unknown writers but craftily ascribed to popular heroes in these religious books.

Most indoctrinated religious people feel they need to defend the honour of their god by trying to derail threads that question the philosophy of their god and their religious books. The moderators in this section don't help issues because most times they tend to side with the religious posters and hide posts with contrary views.
I have advocated that Seun could solve this problem by simply creating a Philosophers/free thinkers section where people with divergent views can express and debate like intellectual minds without religiously indoctrinated people coming to derail intelligent threads.
