gidgiddy: It is the same what about ism that makes you people only remember January 15 coup, but never any of the 7 other coups that later happened
The same whataboutism is why Nigeria can take a murderous coup plotter like Murtala Mohammed, who killed hundreds of people in his own coup, and make him a national hero on your currency, but call out Nzeogwu whose coup claimed 20 lives.
It's the same whataboutism that makes you Nigerians blame Igbos for how Nigeria is, even though it's the rest of you who have been running Nigeria for the last 60 years.
All this whataboutism goes to show that we have no business being together in one country , and that the British colonial contraption called Nigeria should have been dissolved a long time ago
So why are you lot still clamouring Peter Obi for President, when you should be agitating that your governors, senators, assembly men, representatives, and ministers withdraw from Nigeria and move for a referendum? You and I know that Ibos are a janus, two faced type of people who want to eat their cake and at the same time have it. All your propaganda, falsehood, lies and lamentations are aimed at only one thing. Ibo domination and subjugation of all other tribes and appropriation of their lands. You shout Peter Obi for Nigeria president and at the same time shout Biafra or death. What a serpentine group of people.
My dad doesn't need such stress, he is currently in my hometown enjoying his old age away from the stress and troubles of this world.
You an 80yrs plus man that still have the strength and energy to be throwing banters, insults and enjoying the internet buzz of today must be a magical human, well done sir, I salute your strength and energy at 80yrs plus
At bolded, Teach him to be active and exercise his brain cells. The fastest way to become a vegetable and lose cognitive strength is lack of brain activity. A word is enough for the wise.
What did you say? You were born and an adult when the January 1966 coup happened?
That means you are my father then hahahaha
My father that fought in the war as a forced teenager is currently 85, and you claim to be an adult or teen that witnessed the 1966 coup? Wonderful
Let me not argue that, you could be right, you alone knows your age.
But even my father that was a teenager then didn't know much about what transpired in the coup except through my late uncle's classified stories.
You could be right that you have a high profile personality, but you are not sounding polished and mature enough with how you are carelessly throwing insults, tantrums, banters and hate words while claiming to be exposed, it's contradictory you know.
As one becomes more exposed, educated/learned, advanced, traveled and financially empowered, it reflects on your lifestyle and approach to life. Dangote cannot be caught talking the same way MC Oluomo talks.
Dr Adesina cannot be caught throwing insulting words carelessly the way a motor park lout will do. The more traveled, learned and advanced one becomes, the higher their demure and composure in public.
Meanwhile, I repeat, you are entitled to believe that the 1966 January coup was an Igbo people's coup, and we are also entitled to tell those the care the untold truth that have been hidden for decades due to Yoruba controlled newspaper propaganda of the past.
So you have the absolute right to believe whatever you were told or witnessed like you said.
If you did witnessed the coup as a teen or adult, then you should be above 80yrs, I respect your age, peace
If your aged father does not understand or know how to use the technology of the Internet then that is his business and cup of tea. I taught myself to move with trends and I am never too humble to move with trends. Don't tar everybody with your fathers refusal to learn new things.
I am enlightened and most of my contemporaries are enlightened. The error of the Nigeria elites to keep quiet in the spirit of no Victor and no vanquished after the civil war of 1970 was a grave error because it only emboldened the Ibo propaganda machinery to slowly and quietly revise and distort the history and events that led to the January 15th 1966 Ibo coup through arch purveyors of propaganda such as Chinua Achebe, Uche Chukwumerije and the plagiarist Cyprian Ekwensi. These Ibo writers were able to twist the narrative and through their cheap Onitsha market books push out consistent falsehood as truth. The Ibo propaganda and falsehood machinery has been handed over to people like you to push your evil agenda but it will be resisted. Ibos can not gaslight anyone in this country ever again. Your eternal game of playing the victim has been exposed since and will be resisted. No amount of gaslighting and victimhood can change what the January 15th 1966 coup was. It was an Ibo, tribal, lopsided coup aimed at Ibo domination and subjugation of all other tribes.
gidgiddy: But we are still talking about a Nigeria that honoured the coup that happened after, led by Murtala Mohammed, that killed over 300 people. Why is it that Murtala Mohammed was given a place of honour on you national currency, has Airports named after him, has seminars done in honour. He was just a murderous coup plotter!
Why isn't Onwuatuegwu on the national currency? Why isn't Airports named after Nzeogwu?
The lesson to be learned here is that you people only remember that coup is evil if Igbos are involved. If Northerners do it, it is good
That's why Nzeogwu coup claimed less than 20 lives, but una no gree man hear word. But Murtala Mohammeds coup claimed over 300 lives, and you guys honoured him by putting him on the N20 Naira note
When I say some of you are nutters,it will seem like an insult but just imagine the insane whataboutism? What led to the Murtala Mohammed coup? Was it not the lopsided, tribal January 15th 1966 Ibo coup? Actions will also trigger reactions. It is a simple law of nature.
The penchant for Ibos to trigger an action then when the reaction comes they will activate their pity party mode and claim victimisation is unrivalled in this country. This is 2025,you guys should shove your lies, falsehood and propaganda up where the sun don't shine. Nobody is buying your rubbish. We refuse to be gaslighted. Your pity party propaganda is dead on arrival. The January 15th 1966 was an Ibo coup aimed at Ibo domination and subjugation. The July 29th 1966 coup was a reaction and revenge coup. Actions beget reactions. The Ibos recieved a duly deserved comeuppance in the July 29th 1966 revenge coup and the civil war in its aftermath. There is no beating around the bush. The Ibo got what they deserved and people like you Gidgiddy would not be here running your mouth like water from a tap, lamenting in pains and sorrow if General Yakubu Gowon had done the right thing and allowed the Nigeria Army to push that conflict in 1970 to its logical conclusion, instead he rewarded treachery and high treason with monetary rewards and a cuddly hug of NO VICTOR AND NO VANQUISHED. That is why terrorists like Nnamdi Kanu and Simon Ekpa can raise their scrawny necks today to agitate for another civil war of terror and people like you Gidgiddy, will serve as their terrorism enablers on Nairaland.
gidgiddy: Some people may not know who Colonel Emmanuel Nwobosi is, but he was the last surviving member of the nine officers who executed Nigeria's military coup on January 15th 1966. After the coup failed, Nwobosi was imprisoned in the East by Aguiyi-Ironsi, however, he was released by Ojukwu when he declared Biafra, promoted to Colonel, and later became Ojukwu's Chief Of Staff. Nwobosi would later fly out with Ojukwu into exile at the end of the war, made his way to Guyana where he became a Military advisor to the Guyanese government. He later moved to Canada where he lived for many years before returning to Nigeria. He retired to his hometown, Obosi, near Onitsha, and was given the title 'Ogene Obosi' by his people. Emmanuel Nwobosi died in November 2020 at the age of 81, but before then, he wrote a book called 1966: THE DARK TRUTH that was later published by his son after his death. This is what Nwobosi said in 2020 in his book about why he and others carried out the January 15th 1966 coup:-
Emmanuel Nwobosi
I am the last of the original coup planners of January 15, 1966 with Major Kaduna Nzeogwu. I knew Nzeogwu well. We went to school together. We trained at Sandhurst Military Academy, UK. We lived together. Nzeogwu was our first Head of Military Intelligence and uncovered terrible plans to wreak havoc across the country. We organised a group of progressive military officers to carry out a coup on 15th January, 1966 to stop a Jihad and bring sanity to a Nigeria steeped in nepotism, corruption and mass murders. The Government of Tafawa Balewa, controlled by the Premier of Northern Nigeria, Ahmadu Bello, were using us in the army to repress the Middle Belt and Western Nigeria. Houses and cars were burnt. Thousands were killed. All these happened between 1962- 66
There were nine of us that planned the January 15 Revolution: Majors Nzeogwu, Anuforo, Ifeajuna, Ademoyega, Chukwuka, Okafor, Onwuategwu, Obienu and myself. However, four of us started it. Major Ifeajuna and Major Ademoyega in the South; and Major Nzeogwu and myself in the North. We then united as a single revolution. I am the last of the four original revolutionaries. None published the complete truth. Only me, Colonel Nwobosi, is alive today, to tell the Final Truth, so that the lies will not triumph forever.
They used us to repress the Middle-belt and the Yorubas. When we saw genocide, we began to disobey orders and swore to stop them. For instance, Major Anuforo refused to release mass murderers caught with weapons, and was court martialled. He was replaced by Major Hassan Katsina, a Northern Muslim, willing to act. I was in Abeokuta but refused to repress Yorubas, instead I opened our barracks as a safe place for them to run to. They told many lies about the January 15 boys, to justify their genocide, but it is those of us that planned the revolution that they should have killed, not the three million innocent Biafrans that knew nothing.
For years I kept quiet, blaming myself and wondering whether at 27, I was too radical that my actions led to the deaths of millions. Today, the same evil in 1966 is being unleashed. As I watch, my sense of guilt has vanished, because we were not the evil. We were trying to stop the evil. That Evil is Radical Islamism. I have decided to speak out and warn the world of the impending disaster if we do not stop it.
Each time Radical Muslims plan a Jihad, in their religious mission to conquer the world, they will fail, but in the attempt, thousands and even millions will die. That happened to us in Biafra. At this point let me differentiate between peaceful, law-abiding Muslims and Radical Muslims who want to kill others to force their religion on them. The problem is that wherever peaceful Muslims are, there are some Radical Muslims amongst them. That is why they began a Jihad in 1966. That is why we had to stop it. That is why they killed millions of our people. That is why we declared Biafra, because we are a peaceful people and oil and water can never mix.
My story is a warning to Nigerians. For years, I was prevented from speaking the truth by exile, prison, harassment, poverty, surveillance and death threats held over many of the actors like Ojukwu, Zik, Awolowo, Ibiam and the January 15 boys that survived. But as I watch today, many of the events that led to our revolution are happening again: Boko Haram, Fulani Militia, Niger Delta Militants, Shiites, IPOB and mass murders.
Some people think we acted wrongly in carrying out the January 15 revolution, but they may not be fully aware of the realities then. We were trained by the British to be patriotic, to give the ultimate sacrifice for Nigerian and to stop anyone acting against the nation.
Instead of our leaders using us to defend Nigeria they were using us to suppress citizens. We, decided to arrest them for their atrocities because no one was willing to act. Not Zik, the President, who was powerless, not Ironsi, the Head of the Army, who was a conservative. There were many reasons why we had to act: 1. To stop the killings in Yoruba land and the Middle Belt by NPC the ruling Party; 2. To stop the invasion of Yorubaland on 17th January, 1966; 3. To correct the massive rigging of the 1964 elections; 4. To free Awolowo from Prison and make him the Prime Minister; 5. To stop the terrible corruption, nepotism and regionalism of the NPC, the Ruling Party; 6. To stop Ahmadu Bello’s planned Jihad.
It was good that we acted to save the Yoruba and the Middle Belt people, and we thought that was enough to stop the Jihad. We could not foresee that they would massively attack innocent Igbos. Blame those who decided to massacre our people for their evil.
The usual lies, lamentation and justification of a lopsided murderous event. Perhaps you would care to take time out of your propaganda workshop and watch the YouTube video of Solape Ademulegun, the daughter of Brigadier Ademulegun who as a kid had to witness the trauma of seeing her parents gunned down in cold murderous blood by Major Timothy Onwategwu on January 15th 1966. Onwategwu was a regular visitor to the home of the Ademuleguns pre January 15th 1966. He regularly Sat at Mrs Ademuleguns dinning table and ate and drank. On January 15th 1966 Onwategwu entered the bedroom of the Ademuleguns and gunned down his superior officer and his heavily pregnant wife in cold blood. What could be more treacherous and back stabbing than this?
franchasofficia: I am too big, too refined, too advanced, too exposed, over educated, polished and everything you can think of to stoop so low to engage in ethnic slurs or banters with you that I cant tell your identity or caliber, this is 2025
You are speaking to a Ph.D holder in view, a well read young man, a well traveled young chap, an exposed and successful entrepreneur, a polished chap.
If it were to be in real life, you will be so privileged to sit beside me my brother, you wont understand and this is what makes internet and social media a beautiful thing, you can even be conversing with the President without knowing, our world today is so that beautiful, and I will advice us all to take good advantage of that privilege than abuse it by being reasonable, civil and polished in our conversations with people on the internet, especially on faceless forums like this.
To your banters, please check my previous posts, I attached screen shots from British government publication archives.
Yes my now late uncle did acknowledged their mistake in the execution of the coup and he kept regretting their action of ever making effort to correct what they saw as dangers then that made them to act. He said if they had known that it would boomerang the way it did, they would have left Nigeria to continue on it's dangerous path of Moslem Jihad then while focusing on saving the Old Eastern Nigeria in every ways they could. But he said they saw Western Nigeria now Yoruba region as their closest brothers and that if it falls, Eastern Nigeria was going to be the next.
But it's fine for you and other Yorubas to believe what you guys have been told and made to believe, you have the right to do so but we also have the right to tell the undiluted truth to those that cares to know.
I have made several researches on this topic focusing mostly on neutral contributors from outside Nigeria, especially from British journalists, French, etc and comparing it with what my late uncle told us years back and I saw similarities and reason for my belief that the coup was carried out to stop the political turmoil in the west, stop Ahmadu Bello's Moslem Jihad movement and to purge the Belewa government being misled by Ahmadu Bello and hand over power to a more refined and principled Obafemi Awolowo at that time.
Peace
Guy, The usual empty chest beating at the beginning of your lamentation of being a PhD holder is meant to achieve what exactly? Brow beat me or intimidate me? You can only use your fake PhD to intimidate your mindless mob IPOB members in your WhatsApp groups not enlightened, educated and well travelled people like myself. You talk about reading and researching events of 1966 to show your ignorant arrogance but I tell you I LIVED THROUGH WHAT YOU ARE CLAIMING TO HAVE READ ABOUT. I WITNESSED THE EVENTS LIVE SO YOU CAN NOT GAS LIGHT ME! As for your arrogant claim that the internet levels personalities which is also an ignorant claim because you equally do not know who I am. You don't know the person behind the moniker even if I sat next to you in public.
Franchasofficia I will sincerely advise you to subjugate your arrogance and be humble. Self acclaimed PhD is not intelligence. Stop trying to revise he history of 1966. Some of us were alive during this period and witnessed these events. I post on this forum so that dangerous Ibo like you will not guilt trip and gaslight my children. No mater the amount of Ibo propaganda and lies the January 15th 1966 coup was an Ibo coup. The January 15th 1966 coup was not a revolution but a bloodbath. The January 15th 1966 coup was a lopsided murderous event. The January 15th 1966 coup was motivated by Ibo domination. The January 15th 1966 coup was a tribal coup . Simple.
IfnobeGod20: You cannot have sound exposure and not know what is obtainable all over Nigeria. I know the underground rapport that they do to get those titles. Most of the times, it is the village head of each community that enthroned most of the tribal titles and not the over chief. Many at times they just give some money and stipend to the village chief and before you know it, a coronation is organized. The Fulani is even very quick because they have what the village king want. One or two cows and a million added, you see a free Fulani man being called Seriki the next day and before you know it, a mini coronation is organized.
Mr. Man, it is a common practice in our society and not limited to Lagos or particular tribe. Reading tribal colouration on it just defeat reasoning and your exposure I repeat. Ija lo de to rin do we. If not because of what happened, they would not have questioned his title. Gather all these title holders in one stadium and begin to ask them their local government certificate that enthroned them to be title holders, you will only see few with such certificates. Even the most revered one may not have.
Please cool down and stop reading critical issue on divisive mind.
I challenge you to go to an area in Lagos like Ojo local government if you can count the number of Ibo illegal EZE n'dIgbo in that local government. All crowning themselves as kings with impunity and without recourse to any local authorities. This is not about exposure which I am 100% sure I have more than you but about the illegal modus operandi of every Ibo man that feels he has arrived crowning himself as a self appointed king of a locality. THIS IS ILLEGAL!!! Every Ibo man that feels he is wealthy feels he can just start claiming a chieftaincy title without recourse to any authorities and this your arrogant ignorant write up is trying to paint it as RIGHT with your WHATABOUTISM logic. What is wrong is wrong. No two ways about it.
franchasofficia: Aguiyi Ironsi was the Chief of Army Staff as at the time the coup was carried out, are you telling me that there was another military officer that had higher rank than the Chief of Army Staff of Nigeria in Nigeria?
I want to learn, give me a trusted link to read this claim, thanks.
Nwafor Orizu didn't had any power when the military coup occurred. The man simply exonerated himself from the military madness for his own dear life. Ironsi seized power being that he was the highest in military command and was in the right position to return law and order in Nigeria after the coup that heated up the nation to its highest boiling point, so forget that story, Nwafor Orizu was supposed to be the one to take over power on a normal but he dodged the bullet to save his life by letting the Chief of Army Staff Ironsi to take over the government.
The part of Igbos taunting Northerners was not entirely true please. That song they said an Igbo singer released was a pure lie that has been debunked yet Reno Omockery keep repeating it to incite the North against Igbos for his sinister political gains.
That song has been released years before the January 1966 coup. Yes I wouldn't dispute the fact that some Igbos in the North might have joked about it, but please stop making it look like Igbos gathered together and agreed to be mocking the North after the coup, it's a pure lie, my uncle lived in Kaduna as at that time and he said many lies were told against Igbos just to justify the pogrom
What many Nigerian Christians don't know is that Igbos have been the ones taking the Jihad bullet for them in Nigeria and if not for Igbos and their bravery, Northern Moslems in collaboration with their MiddleEast sponsors and Sahel partners would have overrun the entire Nigeria and turn it to a full blown Moslem country they so wish.
Lastly, I wont dispute the fact that some of the Igbo military officers that led that coup execution messed things up by allowing tribal sentiment to derail their initial plan like my late uncle who happened to be one of the original coup plotters told us.
They were not too smart, they ought to have sacrificed some Igbo officials to hide their real plan and to make it successful, that is where they failed. They spared all Igbo officials and military top brass, they should have taken out some to disguise their true mission and it would have been a success. Their action messed Igbos up politically in Nigeria and we are still paying the price to date, the price of standing against Moslem Jihad, it's never going to be easy because those Jihadists haven't stopped, they are still working on it full time now than ever but many Nigerian Christians, especially Yoruba Christians are still sleeping on a moving bicycle, time will teach them whatsup
Lies and more lies!!!
The next most senior NPC minister was Zanna Bukar Dipcharima and NOT Orizu Nwafor. Stop these lies! Nwafor and Ironsi both playing an Ibo domination script played out Dipcharima and while the NPC ministers were trying to conduct a cabinet meeting on the next step as the Prime Minister Balewa was still presumed missing. Orizu Nwafor had already surreptitiously led a group of NCNC ministers (with active connivance of Azikiwe in the Caribbeans) to hand over the reins of government to Ironsi.
franchasofficia: This is nothing but the truth, my now late uncle was part of them and he told us the same story which I shared here days ago.
Only God knows the truth and the truth will come out one day before those that hate Igbos and think Igbos are too troublesome.
My late uncle only regretted the fact that some of the coup leaders failed to separate tribal sentiment from their actions which made them spare some Igbo leaders marked for elimination should they refuse to cooperate.
Ademoyega also said some of this in his book titled "Why We Struck".
That Jihad war hasn't stopped, they are still on it. Take a look at what they are doing to Middlebelt people today. They are now using Fulani herdsmen who are actually Muslim Jihad Militants trained under Boko Haram, ISWAP, etc to continue the execution of that Islamic Jihad. They showed their hand too early again in Southwest by introducing Sharia law in Oyo state but Yorubas think it's a joke and are focused on attacking Igbos who are actually their best friends they ought to have been working with.
Chief Awolowo later realized the truth and told his kinsmen to work with Igbos because he later saw the truth but his kinsmen believe Igbos are their greatest enemies. Time will teach us all the sad lesson about life.
The coup was supposed to be a revolution but the leaders messed it up by sparing all Igbo leaders making the North to find a reason to deceive the rest of Nigerians to tag it Igbo coup and gangup against Igbos, which messed Igbos up in Nigeria ever since
But my promise to those still working to enforce Moslem Jihad in Nigeria is that you guys are wasting your time, Southeast (Igbos) will never let you succeed. If you want to spread Islam, do it via progressive methods, do miracle to heal people, engage in philanthropic outreach programs to help the poor and needy, spread quality advanced education that will teach people how to research, create solutions to global problems, not outdated Islamic doctrine education that never help societies to develop, preach love and peace, and then use the opportunity to convince people to join your Islam so that their life can become better.
Using guns and sword to spread Islam or force people to become Moslems will never work in Nigeria so long as we Igbos are still part of Nigeria, we will continue to foil that evil plan without apology.
This your fictional and non existent uncle that you always quote is a LIAR and you franchasofficia are a low down dirty LIAR too!
Ibos are the only tribe in this country with the propensity and penchant to tell bold face lies and masquerade it as the truth. They are masters at propaganda and experts at guilt tripping others. How a rebellious and stiff necked people think they could carry out a lopsided and tribal murder of the political and military leadership of other tribes while protecting and hiding your own political and military leaders and not expect repercussions just beats me hollow and smacks of ignorant arrogance which is a trade mark of a typical Ibo man. I read the arrogance on this forum everyday from Ibo writers like Gidgiddy, franchasofficia, Bigkoko, Igbopromise and other nut jobs.
No matter how you guys try to gaslight the January 15th 1966 coup as a revolution IT WAS NOT! The January 15th 1966 coup was an IBO COUP. IT WAS A LOPSIDED BLOOD BATH.IT WAS COLD BLOODED MURDER !
Actions attract reactions and the Ibos got their duly deserved reaction on 29th of July 1966 and it's aftermath of the civil war. If you play with fire-you will get burnt. Simple!
gidgiddy: And I hope in the nearest future we Igbos can finally get our long awaited independence from the catastrophic failed British colonial contraption that should never have been created
gidgiddy: Let's hear word! Your government went and locked up and old man, charged him with terrorism, financing terrorism just because of utterances the man made in his sitting room. They knew they had no evidence against him for doing anything wrong. Now the court rendered a ridiculous judgment of sending him to jail just because he refers to himself as 'Eze Ndigbo Ajao Estate'
Igbos and your likes have no business being in one country together
No reasonable and decent tribe wants to be yoked with the Ibos. They are a duplicitous, dubious, and dangerous people. Living together with them in one country is a nightmare being endured. However you are known for calling for Biafra and at the same time calling for Peter Obi for president. A very serpentine group of people.
IfnobeGod20: When we say some of you shout try and go out, we are not saying that to ridicule you but to make you people to have more exposure and know what is going on around you. Is there any state, town or city that non indigene doesn't give themselves title. Where I am now, there is Oba Yoruba, Seriki Fulani, Oba Bariba and many and that is how it is all over. Please go out and learn and stop disgracing yourself on a public forum.
This is typical Ibo serpentine supremacist agenda. The states I have not travelled to in Nigeria can be counted on one of my hands. I am well exposed and travelled home and abroad. My grouse with Ibos in Lagos is their propensity to go to other people's lands and CROWN themselves unilaterally and with impunity as kings and chiefs illegally and without any regard to state laws and regulations. A case in question is this buffon at Ajao estate that crowned himself as king of the Ibos in the area without recourse to the local government and state authorities and their regulations. The Seriki Hausawa or the Yoruba kings in the area where you reside did not crown themselves with impunity. The were crowned with the permission of the local government and state regulations. That is the difference with what the Ibos normally do which is to illegally crown themselves as kings and chiefs without recourse to the local government or the state government. This is illegal impersonation and the buffoon in Ajao estate was duly charged and convicted appropriately for his crimes. He should go home and sin no more. Simple.
I am not saying that Hausa-Fulani and Yoruba political leaders and military officers were not killed by the coupists who were mostly Igbo military officers.
I already acknowledged that huge mistake and also made mention that it was a fatal mistake done by young, naive and overzealous Igbo military officers and some of their military friends who were not only Igbos.
My point is, those Igbo military officers like Kaduna Nzeogwu and co never consulted any Igbo group or sociocultural group or went on igbo communities townhall meetings to seek for their approval and backing to carry out a coup to help Igbos for it to be termed an Igbo coup, instead it was a costly and dangerous military adventure ventured into by mostly Igbo military officers who felt they could use commando style to reset Nigeria then but still they allowed their ethnic sentiment or so to derail their original mission whereby they spared prominent Igbos like Dr Nnamdi Azikiwe who was never loved by most Igbos back then cos he was pan African man more than pro Igbo.
So tagging it Igbo coup just to target innocent unarmed Igbo civilians living in the north for massacre was the biggest mistake the Northern guys did. They ought to have stopped at the counter coup where they killed Ironsi and hundreds of other Igbo military officers then and not extend the madness to innocent Igbo civilians living peacefully in the North thinking they were living with people they called country men. That is my argument.
And if you check, after that coup, other coups still happened in Nigeria and were spearheaded by Hausa-Fulanis or Middlebelt soldiers but none was tagged Hausa-Fulani or Middlebelt coup even when Dimka killed Muritala Mohammed and his Aide, and even when Gideon Okar carried out the bloodiest coup against IBB, so why must Igbo case be different all the time?
Check how Yorubas twisted Peter Obi's emergence to tag it Igbo candidate but in 1993 when the two national parties fielded two Yoruba men as Presidential candidates, Igbos did not go on rampage accusing Yorubas of trying to dominate Nigeria or The South, rather Igbos happily picked one of the Yoruba candidates; Obasanjo and supported him massively after supporting MKO Abiola in 1993 still though Yoruba media lied to Yorubas that Igbos didn't vote MKO but the election result showed that MKO won Anambra state and got more than 40% of total votes cast in the remaining 3 Igbo states as at that time, making Tofa to win MKO in those 3 Igbo states with just slight margin less than 10% yet Yoruba media kept lying against Igbos, inciting ignorant Yorubas against Igbos that Igbos hate Yoruba and have never voted a Yoruba Presidential candidate even when the results are there to disprove them but you guys never look at the results u rather take the lies your political elites use media to spread every election year just as they have gradually started again to discredit Peter Obi ahead of 2027.
So in summary, I acknowledged the error and grave mistake of the naive young Igbo military officers that carried out that January 1966 coup that led to the death of prominent Hausa-Fulani and Yoruba politicians and soldiers but that does not make it an Igbo coup cos those soldiers did not consult Igbo unions or do a community consultation to get Igbo people's support before embarking on the coup, so tagging it Igbo coup just to tarnish the image of Igbos and to target innocent civilian Igbos for massacre was inhumane and abominable and deserve an official apology.
Also remember that Igbos have paid more than enough price for that January 1966 coup carried out by mostly Igbo military officers; the counter coup led to the death of Igbo military head of state, and hundreds of Igbo military officers, it led to a heartwrenching Northern pogrom against civilian Igbos living in the North in which thousands of civilian Igbos living in the North were murdered in cold blood, which led to the declaration of Biafra and the invasion of Old Eastern Nigeria by Nigerian soldiers to forcefully return Biafra back to Nigeria, and in the process millions of Igbo children, women and aged lost their lives to malnutrition due to a brutal blockade policy proposed by a Yoruba man, Obafemi Awolowo to force Biafra government led by Ojukwu to surrender.
All these are heavy prices Igbos paid for that January 1966 coup and even after the end of the civil war in 1970, Igbos have continued to suffer political persecution as Hausa-Fulanis and Yorubas ganged up against Igbos to ensure no Igbo person rose to become President or Chief of Army Staff or IG of Police or Chief Justice of Nigeria, etc and also intentional neglect of Southeast infrastructures and federal government organizations as a way of sabotaging Igbos economically to still punish them for the civil war they lost everything yet you guys dont see your own wrongs and wickedness but believe that Yorubas are saints who never did bad.
Make una no worry sha, time will teach u guys the bitter lesson about life, una go pay for all the wickedness against Igbos, not from Igbos but by nature.
You think the insecurity happening in Northern Nigeria is ordinary? It's a reward of their decades of killing innocent Igbos and Christians living in the North in the name of Islam and Sharia. So make una no worry, Yorubas are blameless, very righteous and spotless tribe, time will tell
As I have told you several times on this forum, there is NO tribe in Nigeria as adroit and expert at telling lies, falsehood and propaganda like the Ibo. It is a legacy passed onto you by your cursed forebears like Chinua Achebe,Uche Chukwumerije and the plagiarist Cyprian Ekwensi. Children like you have recieved the baton from these evil men very well and are running with that false narrative regularly spreading falsehood and lies against the Yoruba nation on a forum owned by a Yoruba man. Just imagine the irony. So it is no surprise you are on your usual job of spreading lies, falsehood and lamentations on this particular thread. The January 15th 1966 coup in Nigeria was an Ibo coup . It was a lopsided coup in which the Ibo military wing decided to selfishly kill the military and political leaders of other tribes while surreptitiously protecting and saving their own Ibo military and political leadership. No amount of propaganda can change this because the facts and historical records are available. The aim of the Ibo coup of January 15th 1966 was simply to dominate power, politics and the economy by the Ibos. These are facts. However in the usual cunning, crafty and serpentine Ibo way you are writing a narrative to paint yourselves as the victims in a bloody, merciless and lopsided coup in which you were actually the AGGRESSORS.
The Ibos got what they deserved in the aftermath revenge coup of July 1966 and the attendant 30 months civil war. If you play with fire, you are bound to get burnt. No amount of your twisting of history. No amount of your playing the victim or no amount of daily lamentations can change these facts.
I don't really blame revisionists like you . It is Yakubu Gowon I blame who in 1970 rewarded the Ibo for their rebellion and high treason with a No Victor,no vanquished mantra. It has never happened in any war in history where a conquered and subjugated people were rewarded for their rebellion with monetary rewards and immediate reintegration into a country they tried to destroy. This is the only reason why people like you franchasofficia will come on this forum to run your mouth and attempt to revise history.
You may like to watch the YouTube video of the daughter of Brigadier Ademulegun telling the story of how her parents were murdered in cold blood on the early morning of January 15th 1966 by Major Timothy Onwategwu. An Ibo soldier that was a regular visitor to the home of the Ademuleguns where he regularly ate and drank at Mrs Ademuleguns dinning table. These are historical facts.
Inside job. A family affair. If there are no cracks in the wall, the lizard would not have access to the house. Many of these boys from the east need reorientatuon on this get rich quick and riches by any means mentality.
gidgiddy: This is typical backward mentality of an African that will perpetually keep him under developed
A man was charged with terrorism, financing terrorism and being a terrorist all for the case to reach court and the authorities have no case against the man. Rather, they convict him for calling himself a king in Lagos, a ridiculous judgment
All the resources and court time wasted on a baseless case, but the only thing this one cares is that the man was taught a lesson over mere talk
There are people Igbos have no business sharing a country with
You are welcome to your lamentation and usual jeremiad. It is allowed. The penchant of Ibos to regularly come to Lagos and crown themselves kings and chiefs with impunity and no backing or laws and regulations smacks of their usual arrogance and rebellious nature. Like I said the impersonator and fake king got his comeuppance and I hope he has learnt his lesson. It could have been worse and he could have been facing life imprisonment or the death penalty. He should go home and sin no more. The Lagos state judiciary and legal team provided him with a lacuna to escape a more stringent punishment. He should exhibit good behaviour and respect the magnanimous attitude of his Yoruba host community. A word is enough for the wise.
2 years spent in detention. 1 year conviction for impersonation. Acquitted of terrorism and intention to incite terrorism. Adequate punishment for a man from a recalcitrant and rebellious tribe. I hope he has learnt his lesson and will use this lesson to make himself a better person and a good citizen of Lagos state and Nigeria in general. He should go and sin no more as his terrorism sins are forgiven. However if he persists with his terrorist attitude and intention to associate with terrorists like Nnamdi Kanu,Simon Ekpa and their acolytes of terrorism in IPOB in contradistinction to his good Yoruba hosts in Ajao estate then he should accept any repercussions of his future stupidity.
The Lagos state judiciary has given him a reprieve and a chance to retrace his wrong steps into terrorism and sponsorship of terrorist activities. The ball is in his court. He might not be so lucky and fortunate next time. His charge and bail lawyer should educate himself on the penalties and punishment for terrorism. A word is enough for the wise.
