No, it's not sequential, unless you are trying to skip a miui version say from miui 6 to miui 8, you first get the latest miui 7 update and when you are done with it, you get the latest miui 8 update. To skip that, you can update manually, so no problems at all.

Seriously? Complains? Trust me Xiaomi makes some of the most stable phones you can think of, issues encountered here are mainly due to buggy roms usually blamed on resellers or frequent updates. If don't want to update you can, plus I don't think you can find anyone here with a reoccurring problem if you can read from page zero. I know many people who use other brands and are dying in silence . Werin dey carry ppl dey go carlcare nr b issue for here.

I don't think it has to do with the mtk processor, have always suspected bugs.

Can be very fast and very slow at the same time, though it tends to be fast recently.

It's not my phone actually but it says no updates available. It's presently on miui 7.3 stable.

That's definitely a vendor rom, that's why you are not getting any updates, and it will remain like that even when miui 11 comes out, unless you flash the official rom . You should do that using the fastboot method, but if you have enough data, you can also risk the recovery method since its a snapdragon device.

It can boot to fastboot mode but the issue is that the battery is empty. It can even power on but I dies immediately because the battery is on 0%

Just hoping the battery is not bad, you should have done something earlier before it went dead. Do as GrandMufti said, if it can't charge via USB, then open the phone, charge with desktop, and flash another rom.

Ooo, had a similar experience with battery for Redmi note 3 pro, it took over a month, and seller used Greek post for shipping. I think there is something going on for them, shipping cells through Europe.

@op, you better get a tampered screen guard even though you end up buying a phone with gorilla abi ape glass 10, glass will always break .

So you mean it will skip miui 8 for miui 9

I mean there is miui 8 for your phone but you are the one who hasn't updated, am sure your rom is not official, so it's normal if you don't have updates notifications, let's see your rom.
