THE DOOR-2-DOOR 4 SEN. IFEANYI UBAH GROUP, INAUGURATES ITS ANAOCHA LGA CHAPTER.

...as its gospel train landed in Agulu, Anaocha LGA on Sunday, 10/03/2024.

Door-2-Door 4 Sen. Ifeanyi Ubah intensifies its efforts in canvassing and mobilization for votes as the call for Sen. (Dr) Ifeanyi Ubah CON,( The Lion of Igbo Nation/Ikemba Global), the Senator representing the good and lucky people of Anambra South Senatorial District, to become the governor of Anambra State gains momentum with respect to 2025 governorship election in Anambra State. This was instanced at the Inauguration of the Anaocha LGA Chapter of the group.

This group whose passion for support to Sen. Ifeanyi Ubah CON, is stemmed from the unconditional assistance he (Sen. Ubah) has rendered to the people of Anambra State and the entire Igbo Nation even when he has not approached the corridors of power at any level.

The inauguration ceremony which took place at Agulu, in Anaocha LGA was attended by members of Door-2-Door 4 Sen. Ifeanyi Ubah, Anaocha LGA Excos, some Ward Coordinators as well as well meaning indigenes of Anaocha LGA who have seen Sen. Ifeanyi Ubah CON as a good market that sells itself.

In his welcome address, the Coordinator, Door-2-Door 4 Sen. Ifeanyi Ubah, Anaocha LGA Chapter, Comrade Adigom Chinonso, welcomed the visitors and thanked them for giving Anaocha LGA the opportunity to be among those that will help in working towards the Election of our incoming Governor, Sen Ifeanyi Ubah CON, at the forth coming Gubernatorial Election in the state.

Continuing, Comr Adigom, thanked the members present and described Senator Ifeanyi Ubah CON, (The Lion of Igbo Nation/Ikemba Global), as " the man who the cap fits" because of his love for human capacity developments.

The LGA Coordinator further added that the official inauguration is a mark of encouragement for the members of the group in Anaocha LGA to tighten their belt as there is more work to do in spreading the message of Sen. Ifeanyi Ubah CON, and his ideology to the good people of Anambra State, pointing out that it is either Sen. Ifeanyi Ubah CON, or Sen. Ifeanyi Ubah CON, as long as Agu Awka is concerned come 2025.

Comr Adigom however regretted the absence of some wards Coordinators, who took permissions of wanting to honor their mothers on the special occasion Mothering Sunday by the Anglican Communion faithfuls which coincided with the date already marked for the Inauguration.

In his inaugural speech, the group's Convener/Chief Servant, Hon. Bona Ogbonna while making highlights on the ideology of the group stated that Anambra State has a lot to benefit if they vote Sen. Ifeanyi Ubah CON, who according to him, knows the nitty-gritty in partnering with the APC-led federal government in order to take the State to a greater height as their next Governor, come 2025

The Convener while addressing the yet to be inaugurated persons on the way forward and how to canvas for Sen. Ifeanyi Ubah CON, in the forth coming governorship election.
Speaking further, Hon Bona also took them down the memory lane, where he said that Door-2-Door was formed/birthed in 2023 in Anambra South Senatorial District with the objective/purpose of contributing to the victory of our principal during the 2023 Senatorial election. He enumerated to them how they started with small number of people but later grew in strength and population. He also informed them that the best way of doing this Door-2-Door job, is by going to and trying to convince their husbands/wives, brothers/sisters, co-tenants, friends and also customers whom they do buy and sell things to in the market places and so on. He also told the gathering that their targets should be the people of their immediate wards and polling units too.

Hon. Bona affixed that the group is determined to be part of the movement that would ensure that Sen. Ifeanyi Ubah CON becomes the next governor of Anambra State come 2025, reminding the members of the group and others present of how Sen. Ifeanyi Ubah alleviated the sufferings of millions of Ndi Anambra State when there was scarcity of kerosene by sharing free litres of kerosene to the poor and needy in Anambra State.

He also itemized several business ventures ranging from Authority Newspaper, Authority FM Radio, the upcoming Authority TV, FC Ifeanyi Ubah International Stadium, etc, established and owned by Senator Ifeanyi Ubah CON, that has offered Ndi Anambra gainful employments, and as such would be in the best position to lead the state as a Governor having mastered the art of job creations and employment.

While officially inaugurating the Anaocha LGA Chapter of Door-2-Door 4 Sen. Ifeanyi Ubah, Hon. Bona admonished the new executives of the LGA to be steadfast and committed in this project, after which he gave them some incentives and informed them that to whom much is believed and given, much is expected, thereby asking them to take the message of Senator Ifeanyi Ubah CON for governor from their immediate families down to the grassroots and their respective political wards and polling units.

The Chief Servant also reminded the gathering that as the name applies, the group, Door-2-Door 4 Sen Ifeanyi Ubah, is mainly interested in the personality, and the idealogy of Senator Ifeanyi Ubah CON and not only his Political party affiliations. The members in unison agreed and promised to commit themselves towards canvassing and mobilizing for votes as regards the election of Senator Ifeanyi Ubah CON, whom they have seen as the tomorrow's political Messiah of Ndi Anambra State.

Recall that the Door-2-Door 4 Sen. Ifeanyi Ubah is a group that believes in one man, one vote. And this makes every member of the group a stakeholder irrespective of the age, sex, class or greed etc.

Hon Bona was accompanied to the inauguration ceremony, by the State Director of Photography - Echezona Okonkwo, the Deputy Media Director State - Comr. Izuchukwu Ezeagu, the Nnewi North LGA Chapter Coordinator - Ogbonna Anyamene, and the Secretary Awka South LGA Chapter of Door-2-Door 4 Sen. Ifeanyi Ubah - Comr. Chukwuma Chukwudi etc.

Ohaneze hails Sen Ubah, NASS over passage of S/East Dev Commission Bill

Apex pan Igbo sociocultural organization Ohaneze Ndigbo has commended Sen Ifeanyi Ubah and other members of the National Assembly over the passage of South East Development Commission Bill into law.

The Bill which was sponsored by the Senator representing Anambra South Senatorial District Dr Patrick Ifeanyi Ubah in October 2023 passed through the first and second readings and was passed into law on March 5th 2024.

According to the National Vice President of Ohaneze Ndigbo Chief Damian Okeke Ogene it is a welcome development and we commend the Senator Ifeanyi Ubah who sponsored the Bill as well as the entire National Assembly for deeming it necessary and proper to pass this very important Bill.

“We have before now the Niger Delta Development Commission as well as other Commissions for other geopolitical zones but not the South East Development Commission but today we have our own which is commendable “

“But we are still waiting for President Ahmed Bola Tinubu to sign it and we appeal to Mr President as a matter of urgent National importance to sign it because of the great contributions of the South East to the development of the country “

“It would also go a long way to improve on the socioeconomic development of the South East which would also have multiplier effects on the economy of the country at large and with the geometric power investment in Aba which Prof Bath Nnaji has introduced the Development Commission would work hand in gloves to further development our area” he said

Shortly after the Bill was passed Sen Ifeanyi Ubah explained his delight over the passage noting that the Bill is yet another step towards improving on the developmental status of the area.

“I reiterated that it would not only put the perceived marginalization of the South East to an end but would also when signed into law, enable the south east zone to benefit directly from federal government intervention programmes which are already being enjoyed by other zones like the South South and North East through the Niger Delta Development Commission and North East Development Commission respectively.”

“The present federal government is committed to the development of various regions of the country and I am confident that the Senate would prioritize the implementation of the Bill when signed into law and would also ensure that the Commission is effectively established and empowered to fulfil its mandate.”

“My commitment to working towards the development and prosperity of our Senatorial District, South East region and the country as a whole is sacrosanct, and I would always put in my best to ensure that your interests are always protected.”he said

GRATEFUL TO THE NIGERIAN SENATE FOR PASSING THE SOUTH EAST DEVELOPMENT COMMISSION BILL, A CRUCIAL STEP TOWARDS ADDRESSING THE NEEDS OF NDỊ IGBO

My Esteemed Constituents,

On Tuesday March 5, 2024, at the floor of the Nigerian Senate, I relied on Order 42 of the Senate Standing Rules to appreciate the upper chamber for passing the South East Development Commission Bill which I introduced to the present 10th Senate after which it passed First Reading on Wednesday, October 4, 2023 as SB.129. I further commended the Senate for working tirelessly to ensure that the Bill process was not discontinued after its First Reading and for diligently working to ensure its passage.

In my further appreciation to the Senate on behalf of the South East Senators and Honourable Members, I highlighted the importance of the South East Development Commission Bill in addressing the developmental challenges faced by the South East region of Nigeria, and emphasized the need for targeted interventions to promote economic growth, infrastructure development, and social welfare in the region.

Speaking further on the importance of the Bill, I reiterated that it would not only put the perceived marginalization of the South East to an end but would also when signed into law, enable the south east zone to benefit directly from federal government intervention programmes which are already being enjoyed by other zones like the South South and North East through the Niger Delta Development Commission and North East Development Commission respectively.

The present federal government is committed to the development of various regions of the country and I am confident that the Senate would prioritize the implementation of the Bill when signed into law and would also ensure that the Commission is effectively established and empowered to fulfil its mandate.

Ndị nkem, my commitment to working towards the development and prosperity of our Senatorial District, South East region and the country as a whole is sacrosanct, and I would always put in my best to ensure that your interests are always protected.

A governorship aspirant on the platform of All Progressives Congress, APC, for the 2025 election in Anambra State, Senator Ifeanyi Ubah, has promised to take the state to a higher level if given the mandate.

Speaking in Awka, Ubah said that he knows the expectations of the people and would meet their.

According to him, Anambra State, which was created in 1991, should have attained certain level of development, but lamented that the reverse had been the case.

“Anambra has reached à point where business acumen and strategic leadership skills must be brought to the table to radically transform her current position to a formidable economic powerhouse.

“I have no doubt anymore that despite the challenging times, the various trials and tribulations that we have collectively gone through as Anambra people, brighter days lie ahead of us.

“I pledge to lead an economic revolution that will harness the innate capacity and entrepreneurial spirit of our people to reposition Anambra as the gate way to Eastern Nigeria, and also, a formidable economic hub for West Africa,” he said.

Ubah said he had already assembled a team of distinguished Anambra men and women with capacity to brainstorm on the way forward to get it right, including those living outside the country.

The governorship hopeful said that in everything he does, he looks up to God for direction and wisdom, adding that Anambra is lucky to have men and women with excess capacities in different fields to direct her through the right course

HONOURED TO PARTICIPATE IN THE OPENING CEREMONY OF THE NIGERIA INTERNATIONAL ENERGY SUMMIT (NIES 2024)

On Tuesday, February 27, 2024, in my capacity as the Chairman, Nigerian Senate Committee on Petroleum (Downstream), I joined the representatives of the Presidency and officials of the Federal Ministry of Petroleum Resources to attend the Opening Ceremony of the Nigeria International Energy Summit (NIES 2024) at the State Banquet Hall, Presidential Villa, Abuja.

During the summit, discussions centred on the challenges and opportunities facing the energy sector in Nigeria, including the need for increased investment in renewable energy sources, the importance of diversifying the country's energy mix, and the role of technology in improving efficiency and reducing environmental impact.

Speaking shortly at the event which was also attended by the Secretary-General of the Organisation of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC), Haitham Al Ghais, I highlighted the importance of collaboration and cooperation among key stakeholders in the energy sector to drive sustainable development and economic growth in Nigeria.

PROUD TO PARTICIPATE IN THE FLAGGING OFF OF THE LIGHT UP NIGERIA SOUTH-EAST INITIATIVE IN ENUGU STATE, AS WELL AS THE COMMISSIONING OF THE ABA INTEGRATED POWER PROJECT AND SOME ROAD PROJECTS IN ABIA STATE

On Monday, February 26, 2024, I accompanied the Vice President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, His Excellency Kashim Shettima, GCON, to flag off the Light up Nigeria South-East Initiative in Enugu State and to commission some road projects and the Aba Integrated Power Project in Abia State which is meant to provide stable power supply to the people of Aba and environs through the Geometric Power Plant in Osisioma.

Speaking during the Abia event which was also part of the 'Light up Nigeria South-East Initiative' earlier flagged off by the Vice-President Kashim Shettima in Enugu, I commended the Abia State Governor, Alex Otti for his visionary programmes. I also emphasized the importance of stable power supply in driving economic growth and development in the South East and Nigeria in general and urged all levels of government to work together to end the unstable power supply in the country.

I further urged the people of Aba to take advantage of this opportunity and harness the power of electricity to drive innovation, create jobs, and improve their standard of living as the government is committed to ensuring that the power plant operates at full capacity and benefits them for years to come. I also called on other states in the South-East region to emulate the example set by Abia State and invest in projects that will improve the lives of their citizens.

The Aba Integrated Power Project is a significant step towards addressing the power challenges faced by the people of Aba and surrounding areas. With stable electricity supply, businesses can thrive, industries can operate efficiently, and residents can enjoy improved quality of life. The project will also help reduce the reliance on expensive and unreliable diesel generators, which have been a major source of power for many residents and businesses in the commercial city.

In addition to providing stable electricity supply, the project will also create job opportunities for the local community and stimulate economic growth in the region. With improved access to electricity, businesses can expand their operations, attract new investments, and create more employment opportunities for the people of Aba and environs.

These gigantic events which were attended by the Nigerian Vice-President are a testament to the commitment of the government to address the power challenges faced by Nigerians and create a conducive environment for businesses to thrive, and I am confident that the present federal government would not relent in doing Nigerians proud in the power sector.

RE-APGA bombs Primate Ayodele.

By Kamen Ogbonna

We are not surprised; Soludo already has a well-established record of insulting the clergy, the traditional institution, and critical stakeholders in the state_

The recent publication of the Sun newspaper captioned; “APGA Bombs Primate Ayodele, calling him a cash and carry prophet” is synonymous with Gov. Soludo’s established record of throwing caution to the wind while exhibiting careless and obviously fear-induced acts of braggadocio and cluelessness.

Just as was recounted in the biblical story of King Saul when he disobeyed the Lord and the glory departed from him and rested on King David, Gov Soludo has not relented one bit in throwing subtle punches since he got overwhelmed by Senator Dr Ifeanyi Ubah’s apparently divine endorsement to take Anambra to the height it truly deserves in this present generation.

Since the news of Senator Ubah’s entry into the APC broke, coupled with the powerful, albeit surprising rumoured combo of “a big masquerade”, deputy from the central, Soludo, and his minion’s immediate response was to embark on panic-induced knee-jerk reactions that made Ndi Anambra conclude that indeed, the glory has departed from Gov Soludo and that another has been anointed by God to take over.

Strange actions suddenly became the order of the day by Soludo’s government.

Traditional rulers started getting threatened with suspensions for daring to confer Chieftancy Titles on Senator Ifeanyi Ubah in appreciation of his giant strides in security, especially as a legislator.

The highly revered Obi of Onitsha, Igwe Alfred Achebe, CFR, lent his voice in condemning this affront on the traditional institution in line with the Igbo adage that an elder does not sit idle at home and a pregnant female goat chokes on its tethers.

People thought he would not dare touch the Obi Of Onitsha, forgetting that he whom the gods want to destroy, they first make mad.

Our Emperor did the unthinkable that sent shockwaves across the state and has gone ahead to carry out several other unthinkables since then.

Governor Soludo banned and dissolved the Anambra State Traditional Rulers Council (ASTRC), headed by the Obi of Onitsha. His reason was that the Act establishing it had expired.

Just as he attended a renowned priest’s funeral church service for his late mother and reportedly took the microphone to lambast the mourning family for choosing to throw, what he feels is, an ostentatious ceremony to honour the memory of their departed matriarch.

His anger was allegedly a security report he got that Senator Dr. Ifeanyi Ubah had led a powerful delegation the previous night to the wake-keep where he spent several hours at Nkwelle Ezunaka with several attendees declaring their unbridled joy at the prospect of a new Anambra under the Idea Bearer, Senator Dr Ifeanyi Ubah, CON.

Since then, several other infractions have taken place and Gov Soludo’s government has now established a penchant for disrespecting all the key institutions of the state from the clergy to the traditional institution down to the poor masses whose wares his lieutenants inhumanly destroy at will using state government agencies as if to punish them for their several public displays of organic joy whenever they accost the Senator at public functions, private visits and suchlike with chants of “incoming”.

Recently, even newspaper vendors were not spared as many of them had their stands destroyed and newspapers confiscated.

Gov Soludo’s Attack dog, Chinedu Obigwe, while lambasting the leader of INRI Evangelical Spiritual Church, Primate Elijah Ayodele threw caution to the wind by making unfounded and highly blasphemous comments against the man of God whose only sin is that he gave a prophecy about Senator Ubah, a chieftain of the APC, winning the incumbent Governor and performing better if given the ticket of the APC in the forthcoming election in 2025.

If Governor Soludo is not so alienated from the masses as a result of his being surrounded by little men who are afraid to tell the truth to power, he would have known that what the prophet highlighted is already common knowledge on the streets, which means that God, too, has since endorsed it.

The recent show of shame on television where the former governor of the Central Bank and former economic adviser to President Buhari told Ndi Anambra that he paid 50% upfront to an unknown construction company with no previous experience in road construction to construct nine (9) roads and then waited nine (9) extra months after it should have delivered those roads completed to organise a clueless soap opera of an excuse for its now clear failure to fulfill its promise on Okpoko (a major policy thrust of the Soludo administration) shows that indeed the glory has departed from this administration.

Governor Soludo is obviously bereft of ideas on what he needs to do to get the state back on track again as the rainy season gradually sets in for the year and several of the roads that he flagged off are still being experimented upon, by the roadside construction companies that he deliberately awarded the various contracts, with several underhand practices allegedly involved.

APC as the national ruling party knows the right person to give its ticket if it truly wishes to have Anambra in its kitty. The party is also aware of the person who has the mass appeal, capacity, followership, and structures to wrestle power from the apparently fading APGA that has held the state stagnant for several years now.

Conclusively, power belongs to God, and ridiculing men of God for doing that which they are divinely called to do will not confer any advantage on anyone but will rather trigger the wrath of God. We must all respect our ordained men of God even where their prophecies fail to align with our expectations.

AND THE LAWYER WAS KIDNAPPED AND KILLED BY THE UNKNOWN GUNMEN IN ANAMBRA STATE—What is Preventing the Governor from Declaring A State of Emergency on Security in the State?

BY
GODSON O. MONEKE

The bedrock of the social contract between the government and the people is that whilst government should provide the people with security to their lives and property, the people in return pay taxes and donate certain rights to be exercised on their behalf by government. The people pay different taxes to government both directly and indirectly. In the unfolding regime where government encumbers the people with different types of taxes, multiple taxation becomes the in thing. A contract is an agreement between two parties which is intended to have legal consequences. Not all contracts are business contracts which connote payment of damages by the defaulting party, some contracts connote fiduciary responsibilities. Some social contracts are binding on honors only as most of such contracts are not justiciable and hence unenforceable. The constitution is the grundnorm of the country and infers that the protection of lives and property of the citizens is the primary purpose of government. This is adumbrated in the section that deals with the DIRECTIVE PRINCIPLES OF STATE POLICY and the maximization of the welfare of the citizens. When the people fulfill their own part of the social contract by dutifully paying their taxes , levies and letting the government enjoy the power of EMINENT DOMAIN over their lands but the government fails to fulfill its part pretending that it has no obligation to do so, such a government loses its moral authority to govern. The biggest challenge facing Anambra state today is insecurity marked by the threat to lives and property by criminals who go by the names KIDNAPPERS AND UNKNOWN GUNMEN. The government of Nigeria has made a law that prohibits citizens from carrying guns and weapons with which to defend themselves, family and property when under attack with the understanding that it will provide the needed protection. Why then should the state government leave the citizens vulnerable at the mercy of these criminals. Government knows where these criminals reside and where they operate from, what then stops it from confronting them and giving the people the needed protection? Criminals operate in Anambra state unhinged, kill citizens mindlessly, yet the state government looks on helplessly. This is exasperating!!!!!!! The state government appears disconnected from the reality and this is very unfortunate.

Only recently, the state government announced a plan to construct a ten story hotel to attract foreign investors as if the available hotels are not adequate. A state where life is cheap and where criminals kill inhabitants with reckless abandon can not raise its head high and say that it is inviting foreign investors or shout that it is meeting its constitutional responsibilities to the people. The painful thing is that these security challenges did not just happen on the state government. It was already existing before the election that brought the current state government to power. The governor was aware of them when he was campaigning to be elected. He in fact promised to confront the challenges head on and bring succor to the people once elected and sworn in. Where are those promises now? People don’t ride good cars again in Anambra state today and social life is almost nonexistent out of the fear of these criminals. If you set your feet in Anambra state today, one constant but unsolicited advice you get everyday is, MALU EBE INA EJE, OBODO ADIGHO NMA meaning MIND WHERE YOU ARE GOING, THIS PLACE IS DANGEROUS. What kind of state government do we have in Anambra state which cannot guarantee security of lives and property of inhabitants of the state? Life has no duplicate and I had long expected the state government to declare a state of emergency on security of lives and property in the state and take all reasonable actions to protect the people. But rather than do that, the state government is fiddling with less important matters like who is honored with Chieftaincy titles by communities forgetting that such communities must have had their reasons for taking the actions they took. No week passes without kidnappers and unknown gunmen snuffing lives out of citizens. Life in Anambra state has become short and brutish in the manner of the Hobbesian state of nature. As stated above, a government which does not care about the lives of the citizens is nothing but an army of occupation. Sometimes I wonder how people in the state government feel unconcerned in the face of pervading melancholy in the land. Security of lives and property is the primary purpose of government and if government fails in that area then, it has lost its legitimacy. The people who are slaughtered regularly are relations and relatives of human beings. They are people’s fathers, mothers, children, uncles, cousins, husbands, wives, aunts and benefactors. When they are slaughtered like that, the lives of their dependents, communities and numerous others who depend on them for their livelihood get disrupted, the scars are deep and survivors may never recover from such tragedy. Mounting security surveillance to cover the whole of Anambra state may not be that difficult because of the relatively small landmass of the state. I therefore find it perplexing that the state government is treating this serious security concern with a kid glove as if it is very low in the pecking order of its priorities. Tourism has a great potential to make Anambra state tick in terms of its huge revenue-earning potentials but how can tourism develop in the state when everybody is afraid for their lives?

I am writing this because of recent developments in the state which require the urgent attention of well meaning indigenes like yours sincerely. Our people say that an elder does not stay at home and watch the pregnant goat deliver tied to the tether. Now, no week passes without news of one murder or kidnap by unknown gunmen or kidnappers respectively. One begins to wonder whether or not the powers that be in the state are unaware of these ugly developments. Sometimes, I hear the usual condemnation of the dastardly acts and then it is business as usual as if such terrible things never took place. Why has the state government not declared a state of emergency on the ugly security situations in Anambra state? The losses of innocent lives which regularly go on in the state are serious enough to draw the attention of any well meaning government but I don’t get any sense of urgency in the government of the state. The governor appears unperturbed and there is the general feeling among the people that they are left to their fate. I do not see or hear of efforts by the state government to address the security challenges. No efforts by the government to recalibrate the security architecture in the state to make it responsive to the urgent needs of the people. All I hear from the state government are tough talks and no actions. We can’t continue this way!!! It does appear that those tough talks are glib with no intention of carrying them out. That is very unfair to the people who trusted government with the solemn responsibility of protecting their lives and property. The late Barrister Jude Oguejiofor was a vibrant young man full of dreams for his family, community, state and country but his young life was cut short by kidnappers and unknown gunmen and all the state government could offer was the usual condemnation of the dastardly act. Life goes on as he would soon became part of the statistics on the matter. Orsumuoghu town in Ihiala local government of Anambra state has become notorious for unexplained killings and kidnappings by the rampaging criminals in the state. But what has the government done about it in the past two years? The answer is nothing!!!!

The state government is behaving as if the matter does not concern it and as such unarmed citizens should be left to their own devices and be at the mercy of these marauders. Barrister Oguejiofor was based in Nnewi where he owned a successful law firm. He was also into partisan politics having contested for a Federal House of Representatives seat under the PDP in the last election. But he deserved the protection of the state government for his life and property because the resources being managed constitutionally by the state governor belong to every resident of Anambra state irrespective of political affiliation, leaning , even the apolitical and nonpartisans amongst the people. Before the last murder, there were cases where illustrious sons and daughters of the state were ambushed with deaths recorded as if there was no government in place in the state. A gory incident was recorded where the murderers beheaded the victim and paraded the headless body around with brazen callousness. Yet the state government remained unmoved. This is a state government which is doing everything to undermine the effective security initiatives of Senator Ifeanyi Ubah for Nnewi and the whole of the Anambra south senatorial district because the governor does not like the face of the senator and sees him rather as a disgusting political opponent. The people do not matter to the governor, what matters to him is his retention of the office of governor whether or not he builds any records to run on. We must know that this state does not belong to any single individual or group of individuals, every contestant must show that he is deserving of the position before the electorates will vote for him. The time for confusing and bamboozling people with big grammar and highfalutin garbages is long gone.

It is the duty of the state to regulate the use of the instruments of violence even among state actors. Leaving such instruments unregulated in the hands of non state actors does serious harm to the relationship between the people and the state. What is happening in Anambra state today is a breakdown of law and order. It rankles the mind when the state government against all expectations behaves as if nothing is amiss. I just heard that the father of the late Barrister Jude Oguejiofor slumped and later died when he heard the news that the abductors of his beloved son had killed him. News had it that the late barrister had while alive petitioned the state government about the menace and threats to lives and property posed to the Orsumoghu community by the murderous criminals. The state government should have specially protected him from harm thereafter for being a good citizen and informant but it left him high and dry for pick by the same criminals he had petitioned the state government against. How did the criminals get to know that the late Barrister Jude Oguejiofor wrote a petition against them to the state government? This should ring an alarm bell and partly explains why citizens are often reluctant to report violent crimes and criminals to governments and law enforcement agencies. A sympathizer had wondered why he did not go underground having petitioned the state government against the activities of the criminals in his town knowing how things are recklessly handled in government? The question to ask is; Is there an insider in government who snitches and reveals the identities of informants and petitioners to the criminals? There is a popular saying that THE ANT THAT EATS THE VEGETABLE LIVES IN THE VEGETABLE. It is time the state government came up with a convincing explanation about what happened to Barrister Jude Oguejiofor.

The Nnewi-based lawyer was visiting his hometown, Orsumoghu in Ihiala local government area of Anambra state with his overseas- based brother to see their father when the criminals who notoriously lurk around the community kidnapped the two brothers. They later released his medical doctor- brother and snuffed life out of the lawyer which precipitated the death also of the old father. This is reprehensible to say the least. What is more surprising in whole episode is that this is a government which a few weeks ago was justifying why it would use taxpayers money to build a ten story hotel to attract foreign investors into the state. Can any investor, whether domestic, local or foreign ever invest his money in a place where his life and those of his family members and staff are not safe? Security of lives and property is a desideratum if attracting investors is the goal. How can investors be attracted to a place where people are killed like chickens and the government looks unperturbed wishing that the news go away? What does the state governor do with the millions if not billions of Naira it collects monthly as security votes? The money is given to him for a purpose, why is he not utilizing the money for the purpose it is meant? It is public fund and public accountability frowns at diverting security votes to other uses. The generally lackadaisical attitude of the state governor to the dire security situation in the state is nauseating to put it mildly. People have had to rely on public-spirited individuals like Senator Ifeanyi Ubah to tackle the security challenges for which the governor collects money every month. Such a laizze faire approach to security management is unacceptable because security is a very serious matter. I watched a video where Senator Ifeanyi Ubah donated some security equipments to the Ukpor community in the Nnewi South local government area to assist them in fighting insecurity in the town. This is what the state governor should be doing but the incumbent does not appear to know his left from the right.

Like I always say, insecurity is a national problem but the state government has a lot to do in managing it because it is closer to the grassroots than the federal government. Lagos state by the facts of its population, velocity of the socioeconomic activities and its unique location has far more security challenges than Anambra state yet it effectively manages it own security challenges in contradistinction to the smaller Anambra state. All this governor does is speaking big grammars as if grammars will solve the mounting problems of the state. I heard that the president had summoned all the thirty six state governors to Abuja to discuss the idea of state police as an antidote to the rising crimes in the country. This is a good initiative because all countries in Europe and America operate a decentralized police system. My fear is that the governors will convert the State Police into local Militias to fight and harass political opponents. We have already seen a sample of this in Anambra state where the governor would condescend and be fighting traditional rulers because they honored perceived political opponents with Chieftaincy titles. The state governors should replicate the model of what obtains in Europe and America to avoid abuse. The relationship between the federal police and state police should be expressed defined to avoid superiority complex by the federal police. The state police must subordinate themselves to the civil authority of the state governors within the laws of the federation. The state police must obey all lawful instructions of the state governor but that does not absolve them of any liabilities and illegalities..
