Nairaland GeneralApga Victory: Ndi Anambra Resolve To Take Their Destinies In Their Hands. Ojukwu by grassrootsig(op):
APGA VICTORY: NDI ANAMBRA RESOLVE TO TAKE THEIR DESTINIES IN THEIR HANDS.... OJUKWU JNR

By: Bona Ogbonna

Chief Chukwuemeka- Odumegwu Ojukwu Junior, the first son of late Dim Chukwuemeka- Odumegwu Ojukwu the Biafran war Lord has described the Anambra Governorship election as peaceful and divine as what was expected did not come to pass.

He said that the victory of the All Progressives Grand Alliance APGA in the election is as a result of the resolve of the people to take their destinies in their hands and make sure that their votes count.

According to Ojukwu Jr who spoke to reporters at his country home Nnewi yesterday; "This is an election that needed to be held. It needed to be held to ensure the survival of a Party with a divine mandate to deliver for the people. It had to be held to ensure continuity and allow the State to grow, building on the foundation left by Governor Obiano and his predecessor, to ensure Anambra continues to move forward and not backwards. It had to be held to fulfill our debt to Ezeigbo and other foundation members who passed the torch on to us.

He noted that the father figure image of his late father on the Party has been the tonic upon which All Progressive Grand Alliance has been wining.

His word "His image, as always, loomed large. It is the symbol which unified us all and inspires us to forge a united destiny for our people. That in no way takes away from the monumental effort made by His Excellency Governor Obiano, who by sheer force of will and the support of well meaning stakeholders, made the impossible, possible.

Ojukwu urge the incoming governor of Anambra state to extend his hands of fellowship to his Political opponents and reach out to all and sundry irrespective of any divide.

He said " as I have said elsewhere; First, make a genuine effort to reconcile aggrieved members. Secondly, look for ways to welcome back those who left. Then create an atmosphere that will attract new members so that the party can grow. Finally of course, we expect excellent governance and all it encompasses, something that just a cursory look at Professor Soludo, will convince any reasonable observer, he is immensely qualified to deliver.

He described Anambra electorate as "woke", are grounded, well informed, intelligent and have a single minded determination to create their own way forward"

"They are not easily cowed or pressured. I think the reaction of the Anambra electorate these past few days has earned them a lot of respect throughout the nation and beyond" he added.

REMEMBERING DIM CHUKWUEMEKA ODUMEGWU-OJUKWU, TEN YEARS AFTER;

...“I miss his refusal to accept injustice” – Chukwuemeka Ojukwu jnr.

By Bona Ogbonna

“In his wisdom, he (Eze Igbo) would understand that we need first, to ensure the survival of the Party, before fighting to correct any perceived flaws. Doing otherwise is nothing more than to ask King Solomon to cut the baby in half, simply to have one’s way. A true mother, would rather walk away empty handed, than to celebrate the death of her child”.- Emeka Ojukwu Jnr.

It is now ten years since the death of Dim Emeka Odumegwu-Ojukwu. Born on November 4th, 1933, the larger than Eze Igbo Gburugburu died on November 26th, 2011 at the age of seventy eight years. Remembering a figure in the mold of Chief Emeka Odumegwu-Ojukwu at a time like this in Anambra state is quite significant. In this exclusive interview, Emeka Ojukwu Jnr has tried to put words to what it means to live without his dad for ten years now, the possible position of his dad in Anambra state politics of today, what he thinks the incoming governor must do immediately and his advice to Anambra voters.

Today is your dad’s posthumous birthday. Looking back, what do you miss the most about him?

His wisdom. His counsel. His humour. His refusal to accept injustice. His strength of character. His intransigence when need be, but also his ability to see both sides of a matter and show empathy. But mostly, his company.

This year’s posthumous birthday of your dad is particularly significant considering that Anambra is having an important election on Saturday and in which APGA is not having it smoothly. What is your take on your dad’s possible position in a time like this?

It is precisely at a time like this, that he would double down and show his resolve to fight and win as an example for others to draw strength from and persevere. He would not waiver from his staunch support of APGA, because he believed it was a platform worth preserving and nurturing. In his wisdom, he (Eze Igbo) would understand that we need first, to ensure the survival of the Party, before fighting to correct any perceived flaws. Doing otherwise is nothing more than to ask King Solomon to cut the baby in half, simply to have one’s way. A true mother, would rather walk away empty handed, than to celebrate the death of her child.

For you, what is the most important thing the incoming governor must do?

First, make a genuine effort to reconcile aggrieved members. Secondly, look for ways to welcome back those who left. Then create an atmosphere that will attract new members so that the party can grow. Finally of course, we expect excellent governance and all it encompasses.

What is your word to Anambra voters on Saturday?

Come out and vote! After you vote, peacefully protect your vote. Do not be afraid. Fear is our enemy, designed to keep us at home so that we will lose APGA which is our inheritance.

APGA State Chairman lauds Ebube Ndi Igbo Grassroot Movement (ENIGM) over its firmness and commitment with the party against all odds

In his own contribution Hon. Tony Muodielo, the State Coordinator of Ebube Ndi Igbo Grassrooot Movement (ENIGM) stated that the reformation of "Afa Igbo bu Ofu (AIBO)" to "Ebube Ndi Igbo Grassroot Movement (ENIGM) was very necessary so as to avoid misidentification.

Buhari Not Planning To impose State Of Emergency On Anambra…Obiano

President Muhammadu Buhari has said that his administration is committed to sustaining democratic ideals in Nigeria. The President stated this today, Thursday, 7th October, 2021, during a meeting with Governor Willie Obiano of Anambra state.

Speaking with Anambra Broadcasting Service (ABS), Governor Obiano said; “I was warmly received today at the State House in Abuja by President Muhammadu Buhari. I reported the statement credited to the Attorney General and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami to him. The Minister had threatened that the federal government will impose a state of emergency on Anambra State over security challenges. The President assured me and Ndi Anambra that the federal government is not contemplating taking such drastic action. Rather, President Buhari said that the federal government will increase its support to security agencies operating in Anambra state to contain the challenges. Among other measures, the President said that there will be more booths on the ground”.

Continuing, Governor Obiano said that President Buhari frowned at those who use his name and that of the federal government to intimidate Anambra voters. “We also discussed the November 6th. 2021 Anambra gubernatorial election. President Buhari assured me that he will not support intimidation of the electorates in any form, and promised that the federal government will support INEC and other agencies connected with the election to ensure the conduct of a free, fair and credible Anambra gubernatorial elections”.

Nairaland GeneralAGF MALAMI THREATEN THE DECLARATION OF STATE OF EMERGENCY IN ANAMBRA STATE by grassrootsig(op): 11:40pm On Oct 06, 2021
It’s outrageous for Malami to threaten declaration of State of Emergency in Anambra when Kaduna, Zamfara have higher killings –Commissioner

By Bona Ogbonna

The Commissioner of Information in Anambra State, Don Adinuba, has described as outrageous, the threat by the Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami (SAN), that the Federal Government might declare a State of Emergency in Anambra to ensure that the November 6 governorship election in the state takes place.

According to the commissioner, Anambra has not experienced the level of killings recorded in Kaduna, Borno, Zamfara and the other Northern states where rampaging bandits have murdered hundreds of innocent citizens in the last few months.
Adinuba noted that despite the high killings in the North-West and North-East geopolitical zones, elections were held in states.
The commissioner said there was nothing in the renewed violence in Anambra in the last few weeks that warrant the declaration of an emergency rule in the South-Eastern state.
Adinuba spoke on Channels Television’s ‘Politics Today’ current affairs programme.

Suspected hoodlums, last week, had killed Dr Chike Akunyili, the widower of the late former minister of Information and director-general of the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control, Prof. Dora Akunyili.
Dr Akunyili was reportedly shot dead on September 28 alongside seven others at Nkpor in the Idemili North Local Government Area of Anambra State. Some areas of the state including Nnewi have also recorded a pocket of violence in the state as the November 6 governorship poll approaches and as the state governor, Willie Obiano of the All Progressives Grand Alliance enters his last weeks in office after eight years.

Consequently, Malami, after the Federal Executive Council meeting at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, on Wednesday, said, “No possibility is ruled out by government in terms of ensuring the sanctity of our democratic order, in terms of ensuring that our elections in Anambra hold.
“And you cannot rule out the possibility of declaration of state of emergency where it is established, in essence, that there is a failure on the part of the state government to ensure the sanctity of security of lives, properties and democratic order,” he said.

However, reacting, the Commissioner of Information in Anambra said Malami’s statement was politically motivated.
He said there have been a high level of violence in All Progressives Congress states –Imo and Ebonyi – in the last few months yet emergency rule was not considered by the Federal Government.
Adinuba carpeted Malami, saying, “Nigerians are outraged by the threat by the Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami, SAN.

“Since the renewed violence in Anambra State which we believe is politically motivated, not more than 15 persons have been killed. How many persons have died in Borno, Niger, Kaduna, Yobe, Zamfara, even Imo, which is APC-controlled, Ebonyi, which is APC-controlled?
“Has anybody threatened emergency rule in any of these states?

“For the past seven years, Anambra has remained the safest state, most stable in Nigeria.
“We remain the only state in the whole country that for the past seven years, has not experienced one single bank robbery; what is going on is politically motivated and the declaration by the honourable Attorney-General of the Federation is a confirmation.”

Also, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria, Paul Ananaba, who spoke on the television programme on Wednesday night, said the insecurity experienced in Anambra has not degenerated into the declaration of an emergency rule.
Interpreting an emergency rule and its effects, Ananaba said,

“What the State of Emergency does is to put aside the governor, the state assembly and all the institutions. It is an extraordinary measure. Anambra has not reached that point

“Section 305 has made it clear that at the actual break down of law and order, there is no actual breakdown of law and order in Anambra State – schools are in session, banks are working, markets and all. There is violence but it has not gotten to the declaration of a State of Emergency.”

From
EBUBE NDI IGBO GRASSROOT MOVEMENT MEDIA TEAM.

The enlarged Local Government Area Excos of the newly formed Ebube Ndi Igbo Grassroot Movement (ENIGM), met yesterday, Sunday 26/09/2021 at Sir Melie Onyejepu foundation center, and approved the earlier decision taken by the organization to chart a new course, with a new name.

The main agenda of the meeting was the unanimous adoption of EBUBE NDI IGBO GRASSROOT MOVEMENT (ENIGM) as the new name for the group.

In his opening speech, Hon. Tony Moudielo, Nnewi North LGA Coordinator, informed the gathering that the meeting was sequel to the previous ones held with Ogbuefi Melie Onyejepu, where we officially informed him of our resolve to chart a new course. He explained that they wish to remain in APGA but change the name of a previous organisation to which they belonged to a new one. This is to ensure that their ideals and commitment is still for APGA and all it stands for. Continuing, he restated the new organization's resolve to continue supporting Apga and its Gubernatorial/Running mate Candidates for the upcoming Nov 6 Anambra State Governorship election.

It will be recalled that few members of Afa Igbo Bu Ofu (AIBO), have declared for APC, but the majority of AIBO grassroot members/supporters, did not move with them, inline with the original spirit of upholding the organization's ideology.

It will also be recalled that the previous week, five local Govts Coordinators of AIBO visited Chief Melie Onyejepu to pledge that they and their colleagues from other Local Govts wants to remain in Apga

Speaker after speaker, made it clear that the new group is with Apga and declared their total support for Prof. C C Soludo/ Dr Onyeka Ibezim, the party's Gubernatorial candidate/Running mate for the upcoming Nov 6 Anambra State Governorship election.

Sir Melie Onyejepu, appreciated them for chosing to remain with Apga and its Gubernatorial/Running mate Candidates for Nov 6 election. Continuing, Ogbuefi Melie, who is a BOT member of AIBO, and its major financer, went down the memory lane to inform the new group of how AIBO was formed. He lauded the group for exhibiting good morals and values. Concluding, Ogbuefi Melie, donated his magnificent Sir Melie Onyejepu Foundation Center, Oduda Nnewichi to serve as the group's Headquarters.

Also speaking, Hon Tony Nworah, the founder and financer of Hon Tony Nworah Foundation, from Onitsha North and a former House of Assembly Aspirant under Apga in the 2019 election, who stormed the meeting with a very powerful delegation from Onitsha North and South LGA, lauded the group for its unshakable believe in Apga. He equally lauded Sir Melie for his efforts and contributions towards the party and the new group.

In his vote of thanks, Comr. Daniel Nwofor (Osuofia Ekwusigo) Coordinator Ekwusigo LGA, on behalf of the group, thanked Ogbuefi Melie for his magnanimity towards the new group. He equally lauded Sir Melie for donating his well constructed and equiped Sir Melie Onyejepu Foundation Center as the headquarters of the new group.

The meeting which was attended by 15 Local Govts Coordinators and Four key officers from their respective LGA, including new members and Coordinators ended with full entertainments and great excitement as each member went home with a bag of Rice and cash, courtesy of Sir Melie Onyejepu.

In the ongoing NPFL 2020/2021 football season, Uzoigwe has so far kept an impressive record of eight (cool clean sheets, despite the fact that his team, (FC Ifeanyi Ubah) is made up of relatively unknown players, majority of who are playing at this level for the first time this season. Nairaland GeneralAddress By The Governor Of Anambra State On The Security Situation In The State by grassrootsig(op): 10:53pm On Mar 21, 2021
ADDRESS BY THE EXECUTIVE GOVERNOR OF ANAMBRA STATE ON THE SECURITY SITUATION IN THE STATE.

By Bona Ogbonna
21-3-2021

I wish to use this moment to update all citizens and residents in Anambra State with the recent happenings in the State and ongoing efforts by Government and security agencies to handle the situation.

Within the past week or so, we have witnessed what obviously is a planned and targeted attack on Security personnel and facilities in the State by armed hoodlums.

So far, Police Officers and Navy personnel on official duties at strategic checkpoints in various locations in the State were sporadically attacked, killed and their firearms taken away. Also, prison and police personnel conveying an inmate to court were equally attacked and killed.

This morning, a Police outpost was attacked unsuccessfully as joint Police, vigilante and Community efforts repelled the attackers.

Anambra State Government categorically condemns these attacks on our security personnel and is doing everything possible to apprehend the perpetrators and bring them to justice.

Since these attacks commenced, I have personally coordinated security Commanders in the State with a joint effort to halt this mayhem and by God's, we will surely succeed. The State security Council has met twice and I summoned another emergency meeting this afternoon hence my address.

Let me emphatically state that any attacks on security personnel in Anambra is a direct attack on the State itself and will be resisted with our greatest might. Those who attack us are obviiously intent on distorting the peace and security we have enjoyed in Anambra State in the past seven years and we will not allow that.

We have received massive Police, Army, Navy and DSS deployment since yesterday and they have joined their teams on ground to enforce security.

I have therefore directed all security agencies in the State, the Vigilante Services, all task forces and every structure in the State security infrastructure to rise in defence of our dear state.

I call on all youths in Anambra State, all communities, all market task forces and indeed every outfit in this State to duty.

All traditional rulers, PGs, community leaders as well as every stakeholder in Anambra to rise to protect our State.

As your Governor, I hereby raise the security alert in the State and I commit to restoring order and security immediately.

I call on everybody irrespective of affiliations to come together and support Government and security agencies to fight our common enemy. Those who seek to destroy what we have laboured to build must not be tolerated in any manner. I ask the public to help with information and intelligence to the State to nip this situation in the bud.

Going forward, extensive security activities will be obvious and by God's grace we shall overcome. Fitted Tinted glasses on vehicles as well as covered plate numbers will no longer be allowed on all roads within the State. Security agencies will be conducting special and strategic operations aimed at neutralising the emerging threats to our collective safety.

I therefore ask for the understanding of the public as this goes on and assure you that all law abiding citizens have nothing to worry about.

While I sympathise with the security agencies and families of those killed in these recent attacks, i urge all those involved in ongoing security efforts not to relent. The Police, military and all security agencies and outfits in the State are urged to step out in full boldness to reclaim the public space, dominate the streets, confront criminals when identified and urgently restore order and safety to Anambra State!

CULTISM AND TOUTING.

Ndi Anambra, also saturating the media waves is a horryifying video of the killing and beheading of an alleged cultist by members of a viral cult group. This is most despicable and a terrible act.

I wish to inform Anambra citizens and residents in the State that the Police has arrested three principal suspects and on the heels of their accomplices. They shall all face the full wrath of the law.

I have ordered a clampdown on all cultists and their activities. This state shall no longer tolerate the violence that erupts now and then in the name of cultism. Those who try our will in this regard will have themselves to blame! I urge all youths in the State to shun cultism and embrace meaningful lifestyles.

In the same vein, all kinds of touting in the State in whatever guise especially in Onitsha will no longer be tolerated. Security agencies are hereby directed to arrest anybody hanging on the road with sticks and molesting innocent citizens, drivers etc. The madness must stop.

KIDNAP AND MURDER OF PG OMOR.

I must also inform the public of the recent kidnap of the President General of Omor Community in Ayamelum local govt area and his murder by the kidnappers.

My heart goes out to the family of the late PG and the Omor community in general.

When the incident occurred, Govt in collaboration with the Police and the community youths made sustained efforts to rescue him alive. Unfortunately, his abductors killed him in the forest and fled.

It took efforts by the Police to recover his body after an extensive search exercise.

Let me assure all Omor people that the Government and security agencies are doing everything to apprehend the kidnappers with a few arrests made already. Massive security deployment will also be strategically made along the Ayamelum axis to stop further incursions by criminals.

I therefore urge you to remain calm as we are handling the situation.

Finally, let me restate the call for collective efforts by all Anambra people to defend our State against these recent attacks on security personnel and formations as this is the only solution to forestall criminality.

We cannot allow our security achievements and status as the safest state in Nigeria to be compromised at all.

I urge all Anambra people and residents in the State to come together, support Government and security agencies so that we can fight and win the war.

I assure you all that I am on top of the situation and that we shall very soon surmount this challenge.

Thank you and God bless.

Long live Anambra State,
Long live the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
