UMUEZEAGU URUAGU IN NNEWI NORTH LGA, HEAVES SIGH OF RELIEF OVER THE DEVASTATING FLOOD THAT HAS BEEN THREATENING THE COMMUNITY. ... AS HON SIR MELIE ONYEJEPU PROVIDED THEM SUCCOR WITH HIS PERSONAL RESOURCES. The people of Umuezeagu, Uruagu in Nnewi North LGA, can now happily and confidently go to sleep with their two eyes closed. They have heaved sigh of relief over the devastating flood that has been threatening the entire community for a long time. Succor came to them through the personal resources of one of the God's best gift to Nnewi and Humanity, Hon Sir Melie Onyejepu. Recall that the people of Umuezeagu, have been under a heavy threat from a menacing flood. The community leaders while conducting news men round the village earlier this year, narrated the havoc caused and is still being caused by the flooding to farmlands, and properties in the entire Community. According to them, each time it rains, the community don't feel comfortable due to the speed and volume of flood that flows into the community from the neighboring communities, more especially from Okpuneze. According to the Community leaders, they have spent a lot of money through individuals and communial efforts, but it continues going from bad to worst, because more damages are being recorded on daily basis after each rain. They therefore sent out a Save Our Soul (SOS) cry to all the elected Representatives from Nnewi, both at National and State levels, to quickly come to their aid and help them prevent the looming disaster. None of them deemed it necessary to come to their rescue, and those that came to access the situation of the damages, never came back or did anything to help them. HOW HON SIR MELIE ONYEJEPU USED HIS PERSONAL RESOURCES TO SAVE THE COMMUNITY. They then took their complaints to Hon Sir Melie Onyejepu, who after listening to their plight, like others, decided to visit the community on a rainy day to see things for himself. But unlike others, the pathetic situation of what he saw at the community during the visit, prompted him into action without any further delay, he promised them that he will do everything humanly possible to put an end to the menace. And keeping to his promise, he got a qualified and reputable indigenous construction company, with his personal resources to start work at the Site immediately to avoid further damages to peoples farmlands and properties. Today, the problem have been solved with the quality Control works done at the Site by the construction company that was single handedly financed by Hon Melie Onyejepu with his personal resources. THE COMMUNITY LEADERS SHOWERS PRAISE ON HON SIR MELIE ONYEJEPU FOR USING HIS PERSONAL RESOURCES TO SAVE THEM. The community leaders led by Mr. Sunday Anosike, (Umuezeagu Community Chairman), Chief Chinedu Obidozie (Obi of Umuezeagu), Chief Godwin Agu Okonkwo and Mr Paul Ejefo, all lauded Hon Melie Onyejepu for rescuing them from the devastating flood without delay with his personal resources. They also thanked him for his wonderful show of love and concern towards them, they prayed that God will visit him with His biblical promise of "IT SHALL BE WELL WITH THE RIGHTEOUS of Isaiah 3:10, and reward him also with that of Esther 6:3-9". The Obi of Umuezeagu told the public that he lack words to express the Joy and Happiness welling up in his heart because of what Hon Onyejepu has done for his people. Chief Godwin Agu Okonkwo in his emotional ladden speech, thanked Hon Onyejepu for doing this as an ordinary individual, and begged God to elevate him to a higher level of service with a a higher responsibilities. TWO MORE WIDOWS GET FREE FURNISHED HOUSES WITH WATER BORE HOLES FROM CHIEF DR MRS EBELECHUKWU OBIANO, THE MOTHER OF THE MODERN DAY ANAMBRA STATE. ...Mrs Eucharia Nwakaibie in Akwa Ozubulu ...Mrs Victoria Udenka in Ameze Aguleri By Bona Ogbonna In furtherance of her NGO, Caring Family Enhancement Initiative (CAFE) free housing programme for indigent widows, the wife of Governor of Anambra State, Dr. Mrs Ebelechukwu Obiano (Osodieme), today, handed over keys to two fully-furnished bungalows built for two indigent widows in Akwa Ozubulu and Ameze, Aguleri in Ekwusigo and Anambra East Local Government Areas respectively. The houses are among the twenty-seven houses built by her NGO, CAFE and has been handing over in phases to the beneficiaries so as to ensure strict adherence to Covid-19 protocol. The beneficiary at Ozubulu, Mrs Eucharia Nwakibie, lost her husband in 2012, and had been forced to live in her father's house afterwards due to accommodation difficulties, with seven of her children, two of whom had died during the challenging periods. Septugenarian, Mrs Victoria Udenka is the beneficiary of a 3-bedroom house at Ameze Aguleri. The newly-constructed bungalows, like others previously constructed, come with a borehole that would serve the beneficiary and her community and a standby power set that would power the building as well as the water. The houses are also equipped with sets of furniture, forty-inch LED television, standing fan, refrigerator, mattresses and other basic living gadgets. Presenting keys of the new houses to the widows, Mrs Obiano said that she has always felt the need to provide succour and revive hopes of the less privileged. She urged them to live comfortably and in peace without disturbance by anyone. She also noted that she has always had a strong sense of responsibility to build an atmosphere of difference with her NGO in Anambra State, having trained over five thousand youths and women on vocational skills and helped them start up and sponsoring other humanitarian programmes. Mrs Obiano who also expressed satisfaction with the low recorded cases of coronavirus in Anambra State, reminded the people of the need to keep adhering to COVID-19 safety protocols as the disease remains effective and deadly. The beneficiaries, Mrs Nwakibie, and Mrs Victoria Udenka who were visibly astounded, thanked Osodiemefor restoring their hopes. Commending the gesture, Anambra State Commissioner for Women and Children Affairs, Lady Ndidi Mezue, said that the beauty of Osodieme's philanthropy is that she does not know any of the beneficiaries of her housing programme because they are randomly selected. She thanked her for coming to the aid of the widow and many other beneficiaries of her innate acts of kindness. In respective remarks, the Managing Director of Awka Capital Territory Development Authority, ACTDA, Venerable Amaechi Okwuosa, that of Anambra Signage and Advertisement Agency, ANSAA, said that the governor's wife has adopted the biblical injunction of coming to the aid of the desolate in the society, a virtue that complements Governor Obiano's excellent administration. Earlier Chairman of Ekwusigo Local Government Area, Barry Austin Enendu, said that the governor's wife's pattern of charity is unique because she has continued to revive the hopes of the downtrodden through works that have remarkable effects. The houses are among the twenty seven built so far by Mrs Obiano and handed over to indigent widows since CAFE was officially registered as a charity organization in August 2014. NORTHERN LEADERS PASS VOTE OF CONFIDENCE IN NATIONAL CHAIRMAN OF APGA, CHIEF VICTOR IKE OYE. By Bona Ogbonna The attention of Northern leaders, including the NWC members from the North and 19 Northern state chairmen, have been drawn to the plan by some sponsored- elements to cause disaffection and disharmony in the party ahead of the 2021 Anambra State Governorship Election just to satisfy their inordinate personal and unconstitutional interests. We are very much aware of the development and devious plans by some paid elements pretending to be leaders of the party to institute a legal suit against the leadership of the party in order create crisis as we approach the 2021 Anambra State Governorship Election. We are also aware of the plot to drag the judiciary into disrepute in order to achieve their wicked plans, which is dead on arrival. The Leaders said: We cannot allow ourselves to be used as agents of destabilization of the party we have laboured so hard to build. The Northern Leaders passed a vote of confidence in the National Chairman, Ozonkpu Dr Victor Ike Oye-led National Working Committee (NWC) and all other organs of the party. The Northern Leaders also express satisfaction with the leadership of Dr. Oye and adding that Oye has done very well in the administration of the party affairs and therefore, deserves the northern support, commitment, loyalty and allegiance as the National Chairman of APGA. The Northern Leaders described the National Chairman, Ozonkpu Dr. Victor Ike Oye as a blessing and the most visionary and successful National Chairman in the political history of the federation and outlined some of his achievements within the past five(5) years to include winning elections in the North and purchasing and equipping a permanent national Secretariat in Abuja. We, the Northern Leaders, therefore, call on and advise those planning to mislead, disorganise and destabilize the party ahead of Anambra State Governorship Election should desist forthwith from doing so as no one is bigger than the party's constitution and manifesto. The Northern Leaders have therefore arrived at the following resolutions: (1) That the National Chairman of APGA, Chief Oye has done very well in the administration of the party affairs through prudent management of resources, team-player and credibility. (2) That we cannot allow ourselves to be used as agents of destabilization in the party we have laboured so hard to build. (3)That under the quality leadership of Dr. Oye, we won elections and became the only political party in Nigeria to own a permanent National Secretariat in Abuja - a feat that should be widely applauded. 4. That the issue of zoning of the governorship slot to the South of Anambra State was a decision reached by the leadership of the party as far back as 2013. Therefore, the North should not be dragged into the local arrangements made for the smooth governance of Anambra State. 5. That we will whatever is within our powers to stop any clandestine moves to subvert the interest of our party, which is beyond the parochial desire of a single individual. That we unanimously pass a vote of confidence in our party's National Leader, Chief Willie Obiano for his sterling leadership of the party affairs and the National Chairman, Ozonkpu Dr. Victor Ike Oye for his astute leadership. Signed: Alh Adamu A, Deputy National Chairman North, for and on behalf of the Northern Leaders, including the 19 Northern State Chairmen of APGA Thanks to the ApgaSpiritInUs#

APPRECIATING CAFE AT SIX. ....Mrs Obiano, a mother like no other. By Bona Ogbonna It is instructive that amidst the uncertainties of the Coronavirus pandemic and insistence on physical distancing, the wife of Governor of Anambra State, Dr. (Mrs.) Ebelechukwu Obiano (Osodieme) took up the gauntlet on 5th May 2020 to handover keys to two new 2-bedroom bungalows to two widows in Igboukwu and the sleepy town of Akwaihedi in Aguata and Nnewi South Local Government Areas respectively. Conscious of the inherent risk of Covid-19 on the populace amidst calls from governments and relevant health bodies for people to safely stay home, but cognisant of the mounting challenges faced by persons with very poor habitation, Osodieme reasoned, “This is perhaps the best time to give these widows keys to the houses we built for them so that they can at least stay safe at home like others.” Upon this conviction, she set out to fulfill her promise with strict adherence to the Covid-19 Protocol: no ceremonies, no crowd or clustering. That was how she handed over the keys to new places of abode to another set of excited beneficiaries. That act brings the count to twenty-seven houses built free for indigent widows across Anambra State by Osodieme's NGO, Caring Family Enhancement Initiative (CAFÉ). Founded on the 1st of August, 2014, on the wings of passion for helping the needy, the Caring Family Enhancement Initiative is six years today. The organization has within the short span of six years etched its name in gold in the pantheon of charitable organizations. As an umbrella Non-Governmental, non-partisan and non-profit organization for promoting the wellbeing of the family, CAFE has, through its numerous interventions and programmes, provided succour and impacted positively on the lives of the less privileged. Already many attest that CAFÉ which set out with modest objective to become a beacon of sustainable empowerment for indigent women, widows, the physically challenged and the less privileged persons in Anambra state and beyond, has indeed already become a high impact humanitarian organization and a global champion of charitable causes. Driven by an unusual compassion and belief in the remarkable thoughts of John Bunyan in The Pilgrim’s Progress that, “You have not lived today, until you have done something for someone who can never repay you,” Mrs. Ebelechukwu Obiano has effectively used the CAFÉ platform to expand the frontiers of charitable giving like never seen before in these paths. For instance, CAFE is promoting hygiene and the dignity of women with a campaign to stop Open Defecation. It has constructed 22 modern public toilets in rural markets across Anambra State. Also to assist women in hard-to-reach communities, the NGO has completed 47 water borehole projects to complement government efforts in water supply. In fact, the positive impact of the water projects has attracted global recognitions and partnerships with reputable organizations to CAFE, and appreciations of Mrs. Obiano’s charitable initiatives with conferment of awards as EU/UNICEF Water Health and Sanitation (WASH) Ambassador, as well as United Nations Peace Ambassador. In the same vein, working in collaboration with Smile Train Incorporated, an international organization empowering local medical professionals to provide free cleft lip and/or palate surgery, CAFÉ has facilitated free corrective surgeries for over 100 children and persons with congenital mouth disorders of Cleft lip and Cleft palate at the Nnamdi Azikiwe University Teaching Hospital (NAUTH) Nnewi, Anambra State. Again in “recognition of her immense contributions and selfless services through CAFÉ to cleft care,” Mrs. Obiano was made Smile Train Ambassador on 29th March 2018. CAFÉ has also provided over 2000 physically challenged persons with prosthetic limbs and mobility aides. But perhaps the most impactful and enduring programme of the NGO is in the promotion of human capital development with over 5,000 women beneficiaries, including widows and physically challenged, trained and empowered in various skills under its Skills Training and Empowerment programme. Also in collaboration with the state Ministry of Women and Children Affairs, CAFÉ has successfully treated and returned home over 100 mentally challenged persons at its 77-bed facility in Nteje, thus ridding Anambra streets of stray mentally challenged persons. It is apposite to note that CAFÉ undertakes all these projects and programmes with personal funding and donations from benevolent ndi Anambra and well wishers. With this sterling performance of CAFE empowered by very limited tokens from a few persons and organisations, it promises even greater intervention with greater participation from more public spirited persons and bodies. Beyond CAFÉ’s celebrated achievements in the last six years, the hope in the NGO’s future is hinged upon its proven capacity and promises to increasingly improve and sustain its constructive engagements towards adding values to the lives of the less privileged and improving living standard in otherwise despondent homes. The Mother of the modern day Anambra State, OBRIGADO! The Mother Theresa of our time, OBRIGADO! Osodieme Global, OBRIGADO! Thanks to the ObianoEffect# Thanks to the ApgaSpiritInUs#

Why I Built Modern Toilet Facility For Eke Amangwu Traders. By Bona Ogbonna As a young boy in my primary schools days, I used to join my grandmother, Late Mrs Elizabeth Nnabuike to sell 'Ogiri' (Locust bean) in Eke Amangwu Market. In those days, due to lack of toilet in the market, open defecation was one of the ways traders and customers respond to call of nature. Some who could not find a corner to easement themselves will have to rush back home. Last year, during my electioneering campaign, I visited the market to meet with one of my women leaders, I felt disappointed when she told me on phone call that she was not around the market because she had to rush home to answer the call of nature. This means that the market had remained without a single toilet facility for the past thirty (30) years. I left the market promising myself that I will build a standard public toilet for the use of traders and customers of the market. Eke Amangwu is the major/traditional market of Umudim Nnewi, for a market that has been in existence for decades servicing thousands of the residents in the community, there is no reason for the continued absence of a functional toilet facility in the market. I am delighted that this project which has been opened today for use will stop unhealthy acts around the market. I believe the facility will put an end to exposure to human waste which causes diseases. This project is also in fulfilment of the targets of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), which seeks to ensure that there is public convenience in every public place to eliminate open defecation by 2030. I urge the management and leadership of the market to maintain the facility and treat it as their own personal property. My appreciation goes to the Almighty God for His grace upon my life. I thank in a special way, Architect Tony Okonkwo for providing the land where this toilet was built and promising to connect the toilet to his borehole for constant water supply. I express my gratitude to the Traditional Ruler of Umudim Nnewi, His Highness, Obi Benneth Okafor (Amaukwu) who commissioned the project, the Chairman of All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA) in Nnewi North Local Government Area, Hon. Chike Agwuncha and other personalities for their presence. I will continue to work tirelessly towards ensuring that the welfare of my constituents remains my priority. God bless you, all. Hon. Nonso Smart Okafor, Member Representing, Nnewi North Constituency, Anambra State House of Assembly.

Hon Nonso Smart Okafor, an APGA product and member representing Nnewi North constituency in Anambra State House of Assembly, has single handedly done it again. ....As Eke Amangwu Market in Umudim Nnewi gets a brand new toilet facility from him. By Bona Ogbonna Many years ago, a small boy came to the market with his grandma just like every other day for the day's business, it happened that he was so pressed on that day so he had to rush down to the house to make himself comfortable (because there was no toilet in/around the market then), unfortunately it got so serious before he could get to the house so he had to use the nearest bush. That small boy today is Hon Nonso Smart Okafor and as he had vowed many years ago, he has fulfilled today. Over 25 years, Ekeamangwu market in Umudim Nnewi has been without toilet untill today being the 30th day of August. According to Hon. Smart, the ultra modern toilets is a project he has always had in mind from when he was young and by this reason, will be used for free by the market women except for the purpose of maintenance. The joy of the entire market women knew no bound as they were all dancing and singing praises to Hon. Nonso Smart Okafor for coming to their aid after so many years of being left in the dark. Dignitaries that honoured the occasion are Obi Umudim, Obi Benneth Okafor (Amaukwu) and some of his cabinet members, the President General, Umudim Youth Association, Comr Nonso Nnetu (Mbadiegwu) and his predecessor, Comr Ifenna Jinwa (Ifedon) APGA L.G Chairman Hon.
